Marowak is dazed for a moment, but quickly shakes it off. As it glares at you, a light seems to enter its eyes, and it realizes what you are doing. It smacks itself on the head with its bone, but the machine then takes control, and Marowak gets ready to fight you once more. Marshadow and Rotom cheer you on from the sidelines. " Go, fight, win!" Rotom shouts, while Marshadow waves a palm leaf it found, making encouraging sounds. Marowak hurt itself in Confusion and is no longer Flinched or Vulnerable. It is now Elise's turn.

"Hmm...mmmm ~Don't worry, brave warrior, We'll take it from here.~" She starts to hum with calming guitar notes in an attempt to lull the Marowak to sleep so they could remove the device.
Daisy immediately backs up the failed attempt up with up with an attempt to confuse the marowak, or at least pull it's attention away from her now exposed trainer.

The machine hums in response to Elise's soothing voice, emitting a sound that perfectly cancels out the lullaby she sings. This is either one seriously advanced bit of technology, or it's been damaged and is emitting these odd noises randomly. As the hum dies down, Daisy's stubby arms wave as the Ralts unleashes a blast of psychic energy, sending what looks to be a heat ripple across the sands towards Marowak. But the Marowak is too quick; it uses its bone to vault over the blast, letting it smash into the dunes behind it. Make a Technology Edu. check to figure out if the machine countered Elise, or if it was a coincidence. This check will also determine whether or not it's a broken machine. It is now Tropius' turn.

Tropius makes a noise between a groan and a quiet roar as it steps forward. The burn is starting to hurt but, nevertheless, he plants his feet and sends another blast of wind towards the controlled pokemon. Despite his own brief experiences with such control, he's in a little too much pain to care much about Marowak not being in its right mind. Tropius uses Gust on Marowak

Marowak, shaking its head a little from the continuous assaults, backs off, coats itself in fire, and does an anime-style spinning charge at Takumi. The move is so unexpected, Takumi cannot help but be caught off-guard. The Frillish is sent twirling around in circles from the force of it, and is set aflame, despite the type disadvantage Marowak has. Sounds of fighting from ahead momentarily distract you. Your quick glance reveals that Zossie has escaped the Magnemite and is currently trying to charge Brandon. Brandon, for his part, is holding her back with one hand and swatting away Huggy with the other. Marowak crits with Flame Wheel. Takumi takes 46 fire damage (before DEF and Resistance) and is burned. It is now Takumi, Kane, and Ira's turn. Kane This fight would be SOOOOOOO cool... if Marowak wasn't being controlled by an evil villain.

Ira raises an eyebrow, both at Marowak's reaction and at Tropius's refusal to stop fighting. Shrugging it off, he figures that his staredown clearly had an effect (what effect, he's not sure, but definitely an effect) and so gives him another glare. Standard: Leer on Marowak, lowering Defense by 1 CS Swift: Spend 1 AP to use Roughneck on Marowak, lowering Special Defence by 1 CS

The staredowns are having an effect. Perhaps the machine's control over this 'mon isn't as strong as you originally thought...

The machine forces the Pokemon to absorb the blow; but it looks like the Bubble might've had an unintended effect. Marowak shakes its head slowly, and smacks itself on the head with its bone before looking each of you over. Injured though it is, it's able to shake off at least some of the confusion inflicted upon it. It turns to Takumi and cracks the Frillish upside the head- but to Kane, it's a masterful swing, the mark of a true warrior. Never mind that it hurt Takumi something fierce with that strike- this is truly a warrior worthy of being a Nio fan! Marowak is no longer confused on Turn 3. It was Flinched for Turn 2, but it is no longer Flinched. Marowak is now Vulnerable until it takes damage. It is also down to its final health bar. Marowak hit Takumi with Bone Club, dealing 43 damage before reduction. It is now Elise's turn.

Elise started to play a heroic sounding tune with her guitar, inspiring the entire party to give their best shot! Song of Courage 1 AP – Special Trigger: Song Effect: All Allies in the Area of Effect gain a +2 Bonus to Skill Checks and Save Checks until the end of your next turn.
Song of Might 1 AP – Special Trigger: Song Effect: All Allies in the Area of Effect gain a +5 Bonus to Damage Rolls until the end of your next turn.
All have burst 4 range
Daisy meanwhile falls in on cue with the music and tries a mental attack on the marowak.

The Marowak seems to understand how Elise's singing directs Daisy, and when the psychic blast is fired, it is able to mentally fortify itself against the attack. Meanwhile, Zossie and Huggy have escaped their bonds and are successfully attacking Brandon; Huggy is hugging his face tightly while Zossie attempts to grab him; she seems to have a bit of hardware on her wrist she's trying to activate when she grabs him, but he always gets free before she can. Confusion missed. It is now Tropius' turn.

Tropius lets loose another roar-groan as he pushes through the pain of his burn and sends another blast of wind at Marowak, somewhat weaker but still substantial.

The 'mon staggers back from the force of the blow with a growl, somehow still standing. It raises its club, leveling it at Tropius, and then swinging like a pro baseball player. A wave of ghostly energy erupts from the bone, shooting forward and slamming Tropuis painfully. You see the red flames flickering on Tropius briefly shift from bright crimson to ghostly green, and then back again. Tropius rears up in pain, flapping its wings. Marowak hits with Hex, dealing 41 special damage to Tropius. It is now the turn of Kane, Takumi, and Ira.

Frillish uses night shade on the marowak, causing it to lose 11 HP. Kane attempts to pull the machine off of him.

Takumi finally takes the Marowak down; with a growl, it crashes into the sand, unconscious. When Kane prances over and tugs, the machine detaches itself quite easily, shutting down with an audible whir as it is removed. Rotom applauds. " Well done, well done!" it shouts. Marshadow does a little victory dance, waving its palm leaf around happily. Looking up at Brandon, you get a shock. Huggy is lying unconscious on the ground, surrounded by a half-dozen Magnemite, while Brandon is holding Zossie in front of him by her hair. She woozily makes a very rude gesture at him (Ira tried that gesture at mom once and was grounded for a week) in a final conscious act of defiance before she passes out. Brandon, with a shrug, drops the girl and climbs aboard his Magnezone, flying off after his henchmen (who appear to have been blown away in their dirigible by the oncoming storm.) The Magnemite and Magneton gather what they can of the remaining boxes and fly after Brandon, having to leave a few boxes behind. We are out of initiative. Each trainer gains 3 Trainer XP. Each of you gets 36 XP to divide among your Pokemon. Now, what's inside those boxes?

Ira's eyes widen as he recognises the attack as one that will hit Tropius's burn hard. He darts in front of Tropius and puts his arms out in front of him in a defensive cross, taking the hit instead. He grunts as he feels the ghostly energies rush at him, but stays on his feet. When he opens his eyes, he sees the MArowak unconscious and Kane removing the device. Movement in the corner of his eye catches his attention and he sees Brandon fleeing. He gives him a parting sneer before turning away. "Well, he's a slippery one, I'll give him that."Ira uses Intercept on Hex

"Oh my gosh Zossie!" Elise shouts worried as she runs towards the other girl. Those boxes could rot for all she cared as long as she saw someone hurt like that.

As Elise reaches Zossie, she sees the girl sitting up, looking bruised and battered (like Kane was when he tried to vanquish that bully with his foam sword), but otherwise okay. She gives Elise a crooked grin, woozily saying "I got beat, didn't I?" Huggy, meanwhile, doggedly lives up to its name by tottering drunkenly over to Elise and giving her leg a hug. *** As Kane worries over his wounded warrior, Marowak awakens and sits up rapidly, cracking its skull-clad head against Kane's. As it shakes its head to clear it, it realizes Kane is a brave warrior, like itself, who worked hard to save it from the evil mind-control influence of the pale one. It kneels in a gesture of thanks. *** Rotom floats over to Ira, followed by Marshadow shuffling through the sand. " One day, someone will get him," it says. " But the bright side is, we may have chased him off the island, which is always good! After all, there aren't many places for him to go, and you might have proof in those boxes that the Pokemon Insane-ifier is out of commission for good, so you get to challenge your Grandpa! That's quite a clutch of feathers in your cap!" Kane You take no damage from the BONKing. But that kneel... it's exactly the same one they use in Nio! Not only is this a brave an honorable warrior, it's also a Nio fan!

Ira nods. "Hopefully, and even if we don't, that plus whatever we can get off the phone - should be enough for the professor or someone to come up with a countermeasure.
"But first, there's something I need to take care of."
He strides up to Tropius and looks up, respect in his eyes. "That... was pretty cool. Guess you just won't go down, will you?" The massive Pokemon nods slightly, trying to remain still to avoid aggravating the burn.
Ira nods back and comes to a decision. "Tank. I know it's not exactly original, but I can't think of a better name for you. Now, let's see if we can find something for that burn."
