"So every direction leads to nothing, and our books hold nothing but mysterious animals or Daemons, or something" He shrugged and sat back down on the ground before flipping through his book once more again "Well....I could guess why someone would trap me in this....weird prison dimension thing. But what about you all? Any powerful enemies who would wish to banish you to help their own cause?"
After some more page flipping, Superbia settled on the page with the weird muscular Daemon from before, lugging around a piece of timber. He shook his head, wondering why its master didn't give it some sort of proper weapon.

"None that wield a magic this powerful." Iga sat across from the demon, his book open to a picture of an orange dog with black stripes. "Even were that the case, I have never seen the like of any of these creatures before. I own no such book, and my signature has only found its way into ledgers."

"The only things that might be able to trap someone in another dimension are the most powerful legendaries, and I don't think I've done anything to make one angry. If I have, I guess that would explain this," the masked boy concedes with his heart dropping by the second. He shuts his book with a soft thud and proceeds to join the others sitting down, sitting slightly closer to the regular man than the demon. It's then that Lucas takes a closer look at the creature on Iga's page and widens his eyes out of astonishment, gasping, "T-that's a Growlithe! But why?"

This boy's emotions were all over the place, but he seemed to recognize things in the book. Ritsuko flipped her open to find a picture of what looked like a....baby dragon? Some two legged lizard? She looks to the boy, and holds the book open to him. "...Hey. You recognize these pictures? Do you know something about these books?"

"Yes. I mean, no! Um..." Lucas suspects that maybe he should have kept his mouth shut and pretended he doesn't know anything. Is it still too late to say that? "It just looks a little familiar to a pokemon back home. They're popular as pets and a lot of police officers have them as partners. I was surprised, but now that I look at the picture better, the color's all wrong, definitely," he lies as he tries to brush off his blunder. Despite his better judgement, the masked boy takes a glance at the picture the demon girl was showing him and bites his tongue before he spills how the baby dinosaur creature reminds him of another pokemon from history textbooks. "I'm not really sure what that one is. Sorry."

"A Growl-lith?" Iga queried, listening to the masked boy describing the creature as it appeared in his homeland. Considering the image for a moment, he took a few deep breaths and centered himself, stretching his hands.
His hands formed signs foreign to the other three present over the book in a rapid series of movements. Bathed in the glow of the strange ground, he attempted to call a spirit from the book.

"No powerful enemies, something called a Pokerman, or Grow-lithe....And now this one is making rude hand gestures at his book" Superbia sighed and turned to Lucas "What are these 'Legendaries' that you speak of? Some sort of powerful warlords or something? If they're strong enough to dimension shift someone, they must have vast forces under their command"
He shook his head, being very unused to having so little knowledge on the subject at hand, normally by now one of his scouts or loremasters would have given him some sort of briefing. Maybe he should have paid more attention...

"I am not insulting this Grow-lith, I was attempting to call it forth from this book." Iga lets his hands fall into his lap. It was no wonder they wouldn't understand his secret arts, and in some ways he was thankful for that. "I assumed it Yokai, monsters and spirits from my homeland that prey on the hapless, unwary, foolish, and rude. You called it a Pokemon?" He asked Lucas, becoming a little more vocal now that he had exhausted his options. "Describe them?"

Ritsuko can only find the single detailed picture of this lizard thing as she flips through the book again. Was it also a...poke...E mon? "You do seem to be the only one who knows about these creatures in these books. And, without much else to investigate here, you know more than us. Please share." Wow. It had been quite a while since Ritsuko had spoken so much to another person....

Lucas looks flustered as the others prod him for information despite his attempt to deflect attention away from himself, but forces himself to answer the most important questions. If it might help him escape this place, he can't afford to panic like he did earlier.
"All right, I'll try and explain. Pokemon are the wild creatures of my world. There are many different species, and most are extremely strong compared to humans. But people learned that they didn't need to fear every pokemon, because they could live in coexistence and help each other. It's common for someone to have a pokemon as a close partner and companion, sometimes multiple of them if they become a pokemon trainer." The boy abruptly pauses, reminded that he has yet to see Ashe since he got here, but pushes the thought to the back of his mind before he can linger on the worst-case scenario and continues. "Legendaries are pokemon too, but they're more than just that. Yveltal can kill thousands with a beat of its wings. Xerneas can revive anything it touches. Dialga and Palkia are the very embodiments of time and space. Many of them used to be treated like gods in ancient times, and for good reason. Now, it's rare for anyone to see one. They don't really try to interact with humans anymore."

While Lucas tries to find his words, and begins to explain things, something actually changes in the landscape. A thin, tall pillar of lavender light fades into existence some distance away, stretching into the sky. Well... it might not be thin. It could be huge and very far away. It's very hard to judge size without any reference points.
Regardless, it's a different thing in all of the uniformity. It seems to still be the only different thing.

Superbia grew wide eyed at the descriptions of Yvetal and Xerneas, a wicked grin spreading across his face, his teeth looking razor sharp for a moment before he regained his composure and spoke "So people travel with the Pokemon. Does anyone travel with this Xerneas or Yvetal? Or are they still out there waiting to be subjegated....I mean...befriended"
His words are interrupted by the introduction of the pillar of light and he quickly stood up, and began walking in its direction "It looks like we won't have to wait centuries for something to happen. Come, something awaits us"

The brief evil look on the demon lord's face doesn't escape Lucas, understandably making him even more nervous and distrustful of Superbia, especially with what was just asked. So the masked boy feigns ignorance of the question and focuses his eyes on the new sight in the distance. If he were optimistic, Lucas would say that it's a way back home, but something tells him that he shouldn't hold onto such a weak hope. Still, there really isn't anything else to do, so he might as well go check and be disappointed.

"The Yokai are very different from that. They are sometimes helpful but never to be trusted." Iga rises and looks towards that distant point. "They impersonate humans, come to possess items that have been well cared for, and are often known for devouring or killing senselessly. Even should one protect you, it is not to say they won't later turn on you." Taking a few steps towards that different point in space, he followed the line of color as it rose away. "There was never such a thing in my lands, and even with the threat of the supernatural, man was our greatest enemy. Those that sought to put yoke and rein on their fellows, demanding taxes and tithes for 'protection'. The wardens of our people just as likely to cut us down for insubordination."
The small man spoke passionately of his plight, and his homeland. Living on an island it made sense that the wider world would have different challenges, or perhaps other ways of dealing with things. Maybe it was that yokai could be tamed, it had simply not been done.

Speechless, the masked boy stops and turns his head toward Iga, taken aback by the similarities he notices. After taking a moment to organize his thoughts, Lucas tells the man, "They actually don't seem all that different from some pokemon. There are plenty that don't hold any compassion for humans. Ghost and dark types in particular are known to be malicious. My partner, Ashe, is one of them. I can't tell you how many times she's made me miserable. I've even hated her from the bottom of my heart. But she's still my best friend. She saved me from loneliness. That's why I'll always forgive her." With that, he looks back at the strange light, a conflicted expression of love somehow still showing beneath his mask.

Ritsuko tries to process all the things the boy is laying out. It seems there were quite a few of these creatures, and they varied in power too. Humans even seemed to be companions to them. Master, and beast was not a foreign concept to her. But, did this knowledge of Poke E Mon have anything to do with their current predicament? Also, hearing the masked boy speak of a creature bring him misery. He even said he hated it, but still considered it his friend? The boy must have some deep trauma. Ritsuko knew all to well what is was like to be tortured, but it was far from "friendly." When the large pillar formed in the distance, Ritsuko was ready to head towards it. "Let's get going...Sitting around won't help, and that seems to be the only thing around that is worth investigating."

The walk towards the pillar takes a long time. Exactly how much, no one could say... not that it matters, as time seems to have no meaning here. No one finds themselves getting tired, though, or hungry, or anything like that. But, eventually, the group reaches the base of the pillar.
It's slender in the grand scheme of things, but still comparatively sizable, with a circumference that none of the group would be able to fully wrap their arms around. The light is constant, with no flickering, but, unlike the purple earth, it doesn't seem to be quite... solid. There are some faint blueish ripples that pulse out from the pillar at regular intervals, though - similar to those made by pressing up against the ground - almost like a heartbeat. There's still no sound, though.

Ritsuko Looks over the pillar as much as she can, but it is just a pillar of strange light. The others don't seem to know what to make of it, so she decides to make a move. She takes a sheathed sword from the folds of her kimono, and slowly touches the pillar with the tip of the sheath.

The sheathe Begins to enter the pillar with no resistance, as if it's not even there. Nothing seems to happen to either the pillar or the sheathe.

Pulling her sword back, and inspecting it, everything seems fine. "Hmmm..." The next test was even more daring as she slowly approached, and stuck her fingertip inside.
