It was a day that began much like you would expect. But, in an instant, everything changed. A flash… and then nothingness. Waking up, you find yourself on the ground, sprawled on a featureless plain of swirling purple energy as far as the eye can see. The only things that you can see besides the endless nothingness are a handful of people sprawled beside you. While you’re dressed much the same way as you remember yourself being, you have basically nothing. Not even any Pokémon, should those exist where you came from. Nor any memory of how you came to be here.
Hi there to those taking the time to read this. I've got the GM itch once more, so this is here to scratch that, hopefully having some fun on the way. Anyways, I'm sure you really don't want me to talk much, so on to the stuff you really want to know:
Character Creation:
Characters may be whatever age, and from whatever setting that you choose – so long as it’s a canonical setting, one that you invented, or has been one that you’ve played a Pokémon game in/applied for (obviously, crossover games do not count for this). This is *not* a crossover game, and any attempts at playing a character (whether canonical or invented) from a media setting will not be accepted, period. You have been warned. Bringing characters from games that you wanted to play in prior games (or that died early) is perfectly all right, though.
Now that that that’s out of the way, the actual mechanics of character creation. Trainers start at TL 5, and you’ll start with one Pokémon at PL 10 (essentially, but see ‘The Book’ below for more elaboration). This Pokémon must be a non-Pseudo, non-Legendary Underdog with at least one evolution. They have one Egg Move that they may gain immediately (providing it follows Tutor restrictions), and one more at level 30.
Trainers have $5000 with which to purchase gear, using the average price for weapons (500 for Crude, 3000 for simple, 6000 for fine), and not being able to purchase any Pokéballs, TMs, evolution items, or items from Do Porygon Dream of Mareep. They also begin play with a Book (not a playtest book item, a specific plot item; see below). Any money not spent at the beginning will be lost.
Banned Starters: Nincada, Wynaut, Pineco, Porygon, Onix, Wailmer, Dwebble, Vanillite, Minccino, Honedge, Aron
Banned Features: Pokémaniac
Banned Classes: Ace Trainer, Chronicler, Glitch Bender, Warper, Engineer, Upgrader
Banned Books: The Blessed and the Damned
Playtests used: All, except for new Capture Mechanics.
As you can tell from the relative lack of setting information, there'll be an element of discovery of what that entails for players along with your characters. Though, there is a plot, don't worry. You won't be left to endlessly wander the endless nothingness with nothing to do. There will likely be some League-rule battles (depending on player choices), but it might be a good idea to prepare for your Trainers to be in danger.
The Book
One thing that you do have, that you don’t recall ever owning before, is a short book, with most of its pages blank. On the first page are simply the words “Property of:” followed by your signature. After several blank pages is a single detailed picture, that of a Pokémon, which might be one you personally recognize, it might not.
This book essentially functions as your PC system, storing your teams. How Teams and experience work in this game is significantly different than in most games, so you should pay attention to this section.
At any given time you may only have three active Pokémon, all others are in storage. Each of these Pokémon fill one ‘slot’, and each slot starts at level 10. Unlike in most games, gained Experience is assigned to slots, rather than individual Pokémon. Any Pokémon put in a particular slot is set to that Experience total – gaining moves, stat points, abilities, TP and such if in a higher slot, and losing them until they are legal if put in a lower slot. If losing things such as Pokédges and Abilities, notes must be kept of what they were, and then regained once you have the appropriate resource, though more leniency will be granted with Stat Points – attempting to abuse the system in any case will result in penalties.
Pokémon may only be switched out at the end of a long rest, and will not heal while within the book, keeping all damage and injuries. Note that this does mean if a damaged Pokémon is brought out into a lower level slot, it may become Fainted.
Questionnaire:
Please answer these questions and submit it with your application, preferably in the post rather than on the sheet. Assume that this is only considering life before waking up in the plain of nothingness.
1. Who is the most important person to your character, and why is that?
2. How does your character handle setback and adversity?
3. What is the decision that your character most regrets? Why?
4. What weather is your character’s favorite?
5. If your character had the opportunity to do one thing, and knew that they couldn’t fail, what would it be?
Players:
I’ll be accepting three players for this campaign, and will expect a post at least once every other day, though preferably once per day. Please use this character sheet to create your character, as it has the updated AlolaDex within it. Only one character submission is permitted.
There’s a link to the Skype chat here. In order to be considered, I will expect at least some participation in that. Questions and concerns can also be raised there, too.
Recruitment will run until Sunday January 21, closing at 8pm PST. (This might be extended if I have work that night, but won’t be reduced, so don’t worry on that front.)
Homebrew:
Do note that there is a strong likelihood of Fakémon appearing at some point during this adventure.

Homebrew:
Do note that there is a strong likelihood of Fakémon appearing at some point during this adventure.
General Changes:
The Twisted Power Pokédge requires a Pokémon's Attack and Special Attack stats to remain within 3 points of each other, in addition to the other requirements, or else lose the benefits of the Ability.
All moves that have variable damage (including Five Strike moves and things like Revenge) count as their highest possible DB when applying Tutor Restrictions.
DEXP will not be used.
All Pokémon that require Evolution items to evolve that do not already have a level, instead have a level 20 restriction.
Riolu evolves at level 25, rather than by Loyalty.
Any Pokémon from the AlolaDex that learn Leech Life will use it as the updated version. All other moves will remain their un-updated versions.

New General Features:
Agility Techniques
Prerequisites: Expert Athletics or Command, Agility Orders
At-Will - Extended Action

A Pokémon may only have one Signature Technique at a time. If at any point it is taught a new Signature Technique over the old one or forgets its Signature Technique move, refund 1 tutor point.
Cone, Line, Burst, and Blast Moves

The hazard deals a tick of damage to targets entering, or ending their turn in the area of effect. If the original move lacks the Friendly Keyword, this hazard is indiscriminate.
Single Target Moves
Double Tap - You may target a second Pokemon with this attack, but both targets resist damage one step further. Double Tap may only be applied to damaging Moves.
Damaging Moves

AC: 2
Damage Base 4: 1d8+6 / 11

Range: Melee, 1 Target
Effect: Pursuit may be used as an Interrupt if a foe within 5m is recalled. Pursuit may be used as a Reaction if a foe within 5m, who is adjacent to the user or an Ally, moves away from them without Disengaging. When used as a Reaction or Interrupt, Pursuit allows the user to make a Shift with a +5 bonus to all Movement Speeds as part of the Reaction or Interrupt, which must end either adjacent to the triggering foe, or as close as possible. This Shift does not provoke Attacks of Opportunity or Pursuit. If the user ends adjacent to the triggering foe, it is able to attack with Pursuit, with an increased Damage Base of 8 (2d8+10 / 19).

While Transform is in effect, the user replaces its own Height, Weight, Size, Capabilities and Type with those of the target. In addition, the user gains the target’s Moves and Abilities until Transform ends. Transform lasts until the user is switched out, KO’d, or until the end of the encounter. The user may choose to end the Transformation on its turn as a Free Action, regaining its previous Move List. The user’s Stats do not change from using Transform. Transform cannot miss. Transform fails if it ever has multiple targets.
