Justin knows that he has caught a Pokémon from the pond, but it isn't a Water-type and it doesn't possess the Fountain capability required to access the desert.

Justin let out a sigh of relief when the Dhelmise remained in its Pokeball. He had not been looking forward to its next attack. "We did it, Nike," he said to the Rock Pokemon as he returned her to her ball, "but we definitely need to work on your aim."
When the other two members of the party arrived, Justin grimaced at Asa's comments, rubbing the back of his neck. "Hey, at least the hat didn't get ruined this time." Which was indeed the case. It seemed to have fared quite well despite the water. "I didn't have any luck with the Water types, he said, as he took off his coat, and set it down to dry - in the least dusty place possible. "But I did find this guy! Check it out!" After a moment fiddling with his Pokedex, Justin tossed the Dhelmise's ball to the ground, the anchor Pokemon appearing before the spectators.

Asa
Asa looked at the anchor and then back at her Pokedex. "How in the world is that not a water type. I mean, it's body is specifically part of a ship... you know what, it doesn't matter." She closed the Pokedex in frustration. "It'll definitely be helpful for a few of the gyms!"
"I guess I know what you've been busy with so I'll share too. Mr. Jameson is out of his funk. I think he'll still need a bit of time before we ask him a bunch of questions, but we'll have a reason to visit. I left Brandy with him." Her cheery tone of voice is maintained, but the boys can tell that it's somewhat forced.

"Oh, that was rather quick. Did not expect you to solve the issue of the storyteller so quickly." he said, deigning not to continue the line of chatter beyond that. "I do have to ask Justin. How is it you can literally fall into a pond and not catch a pokemon that was not a water type? As impressive as it is, they won't let you across the desert with it."

The pond employee comes running up.
"Holy Miltank patties! Did you catch the Dhelmise?!"

"More like it caught me," Justin said with a laugh, going to clap a hand on one of the Dhelmise's handles, but then thinking better of it. "Has it been causing you guys trouble?"

"Hey, y'all!" the employee yells at the crowd that has already been gathering. "This guy caught the Dhelmise of the pond!"
A few murmurs of surprise and approval from those in the know can be heard. A large man in an orange puffy vest and an old red cap barges his way to the front of the crowd.
"How? How'd you do it, boy?" he asks.

Justin heard the intonation of the fisherman when he mentioned him, but wasn't bothered by it. It was just how people were in rural towns; he'd received some of the same back in Littleroot. He had more important things to think about anyway: they had just asked him for a fish story.
"Well," Justin began, setting up to launch into a might yarn, "I was just here to catch a Water Pokemon like any other trainer," he gave an off-hand gesture toward Bo and Asa, "but it would seem that was not meant to be. I had a few minutes of peace, relaxing while waiting on the bobber, before I got the hit," he continued to be animated as he spoke, attempting to increase interest in the tale. "When I tried to real in the catch though, as I'm sure you can imagine, it didn't budge," he picked up the fishing rod from the ground nearby, speaking the whole time. "Not knowing what it was I had hooked, I tried again, heaving at the line. But when a Dhelmise decides it's not moving, not even an act of Arceus can get it to. I may have managed to annoy it though."
Justin walked up to the edge of the water as he dramatized the event, motioning to show how he'd been pulled into the water. "Thinking to become the fisherman itself, the Dhelmise yanked back on my line, dragging me off the bank and into the depths," he spread his arms, allowing water to drip from his sleeves. "This didn't scare me off though, in fact, I saw it as a challenge," he gave the Dhelmise a cocky smile. "Still holding the fishing rod, I followed the line down into the water, and it was there that I first laid eyes on it."
"Realizing it's ploy had failed, before I even got the chance to try for a real capture beneath the surface of the pond, Dhelmise fled, heading for the shore where it would be able to make full use of its abilities." He held up the fishing pole triumphantly. "I still had it on the line though, and so when it left, I went with it, holding onto my rod like a territorial Kingler." As he reached the point of the story that involved her, Justin summoned Nike so that she could preen before the crowd. "Despite the type disadvantage, I knew Nike wouldn't lose this battle," he crouched down and patted the Roggenrola on the oblong atop her head. "It was a tough match-up though, to be sure," he said. "She beat the gym here in town with hardly a scratch, but this Dhelmise was close to having her on the ropes." Justin made his tone intense for this part. The audience obviously already knew the result, but fish stories were about the showmanship. "They exchanged several volleys of attacks. Nike was slowly wearing down as Dhelmise drained her life, and it was only getting stronger in the sun."
Justin let the moment land for an instant, before forging ahead, "Despite my faith in my partner, I realized we were fighting a war of attrition, and losing." His expression is slightly pained as he thinks of the contest. "I knew I needed to catch it then, or never, so immediately after Nike landed her final blow, before Dhelmise could heal off the damage, I threw a Pokeball." He held up the little red and white sphere that was now bound to the Ghost Pokemon. "Nike had weakened it just enough. It didn't manage to escape that time." Justin grinned at the conclusion of the story, feeling pride in Nike, their performance in the battle, and his weaving of his tale.

Asa
The young woman stepped to the side as the crowd gathered. When Justin began to dramatize the story of capturing the ridiculous anchor, she rolled her eyes. For all the effort expended, he could have just used the spearow he had caught the other day. The battle probably would have been over twice as fast.
She shrugged and decided that letting him have a moment wasn't such a big deal. He still hadn't caught an actual water type and she hoped that the crowd wouldn't prevent him from doing so before the day was over.

Looking to Justin as he talked to the crowd, he shook his head a little, before moving to Asa, gently nudging her side. "Should we go and get something to eat in the meantime while he addresses his adoring fans?" he asked, feeling a little hungry himself.

Asa
"Yeah, I guess I could eat too." Asa realized that she made food for Mr. Jameson, but never ate anything herself. She rubbed her stomach as she finally recognized how hungry she was. "I hope he doesn't keep us here a whole extra day just to finally catch a water. I'll just give him the poliwag, if that's the case."

The crowd applauds and cheers when the story is over, thoroughly entertained. Several people come up to shake Justin's hand and congratulate him. A few even offer small monetary gifts to help him and his newest capture on their way. It turns out that the Dhelmise was something of a local legend, rarely seen and never captured, despite the efforts of some of the best fishermen in town.
All together, Justin collects about $400 in donations. The crowd is thinning now as most people have decided to go ahead and move on with their day, and Justin can see Asa and Bo making plans to go grab a bite.

"Yea, I wanna start making it to the next town soon as possible. As much as it helps, I feel like that Wally character is kinda leaving us in the dust with his group." he said, feeling a little bit cheated almost, that the trainer seemed to be playing with something of a stacked deck of a team, and discovering all these Pokemon before them.
"Anyways. Feel like just getting something simple? Think I saw a family restaurant a block or two off from the Center."

Asa
"I'm hungry enough right now that it doesn't even matter." She gave a small smile to Bo and motioned for him to lead on. Glancing back toward Justin and the thinning crowd, Asa waved for him to hurry up.
"I'm going to open up my trade link and have whoever's interested meet at the restaurant. Oh, and don't feel bad about Wally. He's on a whole different level. He's been doing this for a LONG time and traveled through two other regions."
Action Asa will use her second daily event to find a trade for Poliwag.

Justin thanked the people that offered him money with a smile. He hadn't expected that, but it was certainly welcome. When the crowd had dispersed, he returned to fishing, after swapping Dhelmise and Caesar again in his Pokedex. As cool as the anchor Pokemon was, it still wasn't a Water type, which was what he needed.

Asa
"Looks like he's gonna keep at it. Early success has him hooked." Asa rolled her eyes at her own pun. "He'll catch up later or I'll get him a take-away bag for when he's finished. Lead on!" She gave a dramatic motion with her arm for Bo to show her where this food was.

Justin hooks something almost right away. He tugs with might befitting his previous hooked Pokémon, but this time it's too much and he plucks the hooked Magikarp right out of the pond. It sails through the air and lands somewhere behind him on the grass, where it proceeds to flop about pathetically.
----
Someone tracks down Asa at the restaurant and offers her a Houndour for her Poliwag. It's the same level, is Brave, and has the Flash Fire ability.

Asa
Asa accepted the trade without much fuss. After the trainer departed, she couldn't help but smile. Releasing the dog from the ball, she allowed it to sniff her hand and rewarded it with a bit of scrap from her meal. "I think he suits my personality."

The resturant they ate at was a nice simple family affair. Not too bustling. But already, not a few minutes after they had ordered their meal, they had started to hear once more someone trickling down the rumor mill about Justin's catch. Slowly eating at his pasta dish he ordered, he nodded to Asa, once she had traded the Houndour into her possession.
"*Snickers* Really now? How do you figure it suits you so well?" he asked, barely stifling his chortles, resisting the urge to point out any possibly.....negative similarities.

Asa
The young woman smirked at Bo's comment and scratched the hound behind the ear. She suddenly frowned and grabbed her napkin. Leaning forward, she made a scene at attempting to clean Bo's shirt. "Oh dear, you spilled something right here." She wiped and then examined it. "Oh, nevermind, it was just some sarcasm that was dripping."
Sitting back, she tossed the napkin at his face and laughed. "I suppose we should go check on Justin. We can bring him a doggy bag." She giggled at her own pun.
