Three years had Yuan Silvanti found shelter under Keldeo Academy, a place he was free to be himself, away from all the repression from his family, but he would soon be free again, free to explore the world on his own, his true freedom. He had just one week of school to go and this last week was more of a "party time" anyway. All the teachers were done with their respective course and students were given some time to enjoy their final bit of school life before joining the society as part of the working force. Aside from all the partying and "I am going to miss you" banter, there was one last task for the students to do -- picking their starter, and Yuan found the starter bag hanging on his door as he arrived for the night. As no one was allowed to discuss about what's inside their respective file, the night was awfully quiet. After finding the perfect place to do so, Yuan opened the file and found a note and three files inside. Under each file are all sort of information about the Pokemon and also plenty of pictures.
Ho ho there, my favorite student. I am Miss Leigh, just saying in case you are the favorite of many professors. I mean, why not, right? You are obviously a very good man, a little reserved, sure, but girls your age obviously like cool guys. Well, not all of them, but some do. And you are hot too, oh, I meant your curry actually. Oh how I like remembering when I was young like you, I used to lick cool guy's face like I lick cupcakes, yummy. See? That's what I meant when I say an true artist always express oneself through any mean. Experience everything you can, don't shy away from anything, you can't ever create the best food without tasting the "sweet", "sour", "bitter" and "spicy" of life. It's a saying in the Qianhe Region, which is very true...but I am getting way out of topic so, let's start again. Wow I can't believe I just write all of this dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~~~~~~~~~(A long straight line after that)
Hey sorry for the paragraph above, I drink way too much yesterday and I am running out of paper to write so...just ignore whatever is up there. I am very happy to see you grow in the past three years and anxious to see what you can do in the whole wide world. You are clearly a very talented man, both in culinary skill, especially your expertise in curry-based dishes, and the high score of many Pokemon classes, aside from the average score on battle classes. I hope you are happy with the choices I presented to you, I have picked them mostly for their relation to the culinary art but if you want something different, put the red tag on the file and hang it by your door and two choices will be given to you two days later.

Option 1
Paras, M
Height: 0' 7"
Weight: 9.7lbs
First choice is a Paras and you should know this by now that you can take mushrooms away from his back once he has grown enough. Just make sure you don't go overboard with it, he will die if you take all the mushrooms off, leaving only one is fine. Why do I give you a Pokemon that provides you with mushroom all the time? As I have always said, it is important for a chef to experiment with all types of cuisine and ingredient. To create the best cuisine, you have to cook a lot but more importantly, you have to eat even more, your tongue is your guide to understand the difference and specialty of all the cuisine this world has to offer. Mushroom is a very versatile ingredient, usable in any kind of cuisine and having the opporturnity to experience with them everyday will allow you the chance to improve everyday. Plus, you will have some food source in the wild with this Paras, not enough of a full meal but at least it's something. This Paras does have some vibrant lifes on its back. The lab report has shown that his Tochukaso's life force is at 95th percentile of all that have been measured so expect him to produce you a lot of mushroom everyday.
Alright, moving on to the actual Paras. This Paras is pretty easy to handle, as he is quite mild as a whole and presents himself as a very friendly creature in the barn. He hangs around with the others all the time and does not seem to stare up trouble. Although the barn owner has mentioned that he sometime acts weirdly, like his tendency to observing anything from a corner and many attempts to sneak into weird places in the barn. He is as good of a sneaker as you can expect from a Paras species but the barn has too many CCTVs for him to achieve anything. We might know more about him if we run him through all sort of lab test but the ranch isn't going to waste that amount of money on a Paras so, we will never know what's under the head of this little dude.
His combat performance is below average from all the tests, winning a fight straightout is rare and he looks like he much prefer watching his opponents suffer from all the spores he hit them with than trying to finish the fight with his claws. Extra training shall be given to make sure he can adjust his style in a real fight. Or you can find other Pokemon to handle the attacking job while using him as a spore spreader, I am sorry to say that I have not research too much into your battling preference but hopefully this one is fine.

Option 2
Pansear, M
Height: 2' 0"
Weight: 28.5lbs
Secondly, we have this cute little Pansear -- he might not be as little as his siblings though, weighing at 28.5lbs, he is actually fat among the Pansears of the world, mostly due to his habit of overeating. He is overall more stocky than others but at least all the extra weight doesn't just go straightto his tummy, so he still looks adorable overall. And oh, don't mention his weight in front of him, he is sorta self-concious about it and it will only hurt him if you talk about it. Keeping his weight in check will be good training for you in terms of developing proper meals and nutrient on a daily basis.
This Pansear, just like his type, is a ball of burning passion. Everything he does, he does it with 120% of his effort but for things he doesn't care about, he gives absolutely zero effort on them so, a double-edged sword in a way. You just have to find ways to motivate him into doing things you want him to do. The one problem with that line of thought is that this Pansear is apparently very stubborn, like super stubborn and inflexible.
Let me share you a story so you can get the whole picture. Last year I had a field trip to the ranch with the year one student, so your junior, and we cook for the ranch that night. The ranch owner decided to have this "Impress this Pansear" contest so all students will cook a dish, can be anything as long as it contains berries to see if the Pansear will like it. The Pansear held(and still hold, I have tried) the firm belief that roasted berry is the only way to eat any berry. So we have 10 groups cooked up 10 dishes, and the result? He ate none after the first taste and was shaking his head all the time. This is the level of stubbornness we are dealing with here, but this trait is only on things he care about. It's up to you to find out what he cares about, my one week with him does not provide me with much info to help you.
In terms of battle ability, Pansear might not be the most physical specimen you can find but it can learn all sort of moves of various types, so he has the all-around flexibility and can work with any team...as long as he doesn't get into argument with his teammates. You might have to keep his fiery spirit in check. While the ranch owner has mentioned that this Pansear behaved very well as far as a Pansear is concerned, but you never know if something can tick him off. He is otherwise friendly and helpful and enjoy providing roasted berries for his friends...then proceed to convince them "roasted berry" is the only correct way to eat a berry.

Option 3
Corphish, F
Height: 2' 2.5"
Weight: 30lbs
Even I am not sure why I get a Corphish, they must have thought "Oh, it's good food, let's give it to the culinary professor" and I am obliged to distrubute it so, here it is. My only request is you don't cook her up and eat her. If you want some delicious Corphish please look for wild ones instead of cooking up a ranch-breed, have some respect for the ranch and the hardwork they have put on this little fellow. Corphish is one of the toughest survivors in the wild, capable of living in almost anywhere and they eat everything so, if you ever want to experiment on dishes, you have this Corphish to clear up whatever mess you end up with. One problem is that she is unlikely to provide you with any constructive feedback on your food.
In terms of personality, this Corphish is surprisingly mild for a Corphish, who made their name being selfish thugs that take over any places they decided to inhabit in, until she is hungry. Let me make one thing clear, these are the four golden words if you want to take her: Do Not Starve Her. She will go on a mindless rampage, destroying whatever in her path until she finds something to eat.
Other than that, she is as cool as a Corphish can be, although true to that she does not care about others too much. In the barn, she is by herself all the time and rarely interacts with other Pokemon. The ranch owner did try to encourage her but she simply showed no interest in such activities and would just walk back to where the owner carried her from. Perhaps this was genetic, as Corphish is so used to not interacting with other species, aside from eating them, that they became inherently selfish.
I don't think I have to talk much about Corphish's capability in battle. They are carnivore because they are good at winning battles. You give any Cobalion student this list and I bet at least 80% of them would take a Corphish. Maybe it is good that we have this Corphish here, less power for the Cobalion.
