Over the next several years, the choices made on that fateful day echoed through the region, and the world. As the veil of mystery was cast aside on the project that breached dimensions, it was met with some interest. There was, of course, skepticism and worry based on its origins, but a surprisingly swift cooperation between Devon Corporation and the Hoenn Pokémon League meant that possibilities began to be explored.
As time went on, other worlds were discovered and catalogued, some marked for potential use or future settlement. Travel and infrastructure was revolutionized, with folding spaces and portals. Eventually, other civilizations were discovered, and the hand of friendship and trade was extended.
But before all of that, at the forefront of exploration were Ayah and Amaranth, searching through space. They eventually became joined by other vessels, and other people connecting dimensions, but they would always be known as the first.
Ruby reconciled with her father, finally accepting that she didn't need to reject everything. The journey had taught her the importance of family, and she eventually succeeded him in running Devon Corporation.
Evelyn no longer felt the need to excel in the Pokémon league, and instead focused on staying with her friends, and helping with the logistics of the developing dimensional exploration.
Kai was able to put the skills that he learned on his journey to use in raising and taking care of even the most unruly of creatures. As more unusual ones begin to be brought over from explorations, he was able to ranch eggs that impressed even his mother, and those back home in Alola.
Cole was able to find himself, and finally reconnect with his friends. Now that there were answers, he was more than ready to face life's challenges.
Maya and Zach were able to, with Orion's help, establish a connection back to Maya and Ayah's home world, and establish a tentative link with the first real other civilization. Trade and communication was limited, due to not wanting cross-cultural contamination with a rebuilding world, but Ayah was able to go back and meet her family for the first time, and Amaranth along with her. It was a bittersweet reunion, but it finally gave some closure to it all.
Other stories intersected with these, and much more happened to them all. But the full tale of what happened is simply much too long, and far better left to the imagination. After all, the unknown is always more interesting.
