The trek up towards Meteor Falls is a little long, but pleasant. The ocean is off to the side, giving a cooling sea breeze and the smell of salt, as well as a nice view. It takes about as long to reach the base of the Falls as it did for Kai and Cole to reach the Rusturf Tunnel last night.
The entrance is a large chasm cut into the side of a built-up mountain, almost feeling like it could snap shut at any moment. There's a well-trodden path through, though, so it becomes a little bit less intimidating walking through.
It takes a few minutes to wind through the mountains to the Falls itself... but stepping out into the place proper is a sight to behold. Enormous cliffs and pillars reach for the sky, bridges of stone arch all over, there are rivers and waterfalls cutting through and spilling over stone... it seems that there are a great many paths to choose, most of them involving wet feet. One more-taken path winds in a particular direction, probably being the fastest way through... but there are several other ways off the beaten path. A cool wind blows through, the sunlight, not at midday yet, not really being able to reach in.
It's hard to tell exactly what's in here, though. The sounds of water, and the shadows from all the walls and natural spires cast obscurement around, making it hard to tell what exactly is flitting around - but there are clearly some things.
Going up would probably allow for a better look, but there also might be things hiding in the shadows in the nooks below. And, of course, for those just wanting to exit (especially with dry feet), there's the trodden path hugging the right mountain wall.

"Well fellers... Steven said strong Pokemon are off the beaten path." Theodore squinted up the falls. "Let's do us some spelunking, no sense in coming to a place so perty and not takin in the sights a little. We got a half day lead on the girls at least, so let's take our time." The teen picked his way along to the edge of the falls, starting up a steep, barely there path made of limestone runoff, damp from the mist rolling off the falls. For someone that struggled just walking, he was surprisingly adept at picking a route.

Kai looked around and shrugged, he wasn't against the idea, so might as well. "Alrighty, I'm definitely down to hunt for some rare Pokemon." He did take a few moments to stare at the water, slightly grimacing. "Let's just try and make sure we don't get soaked hunting them down, this place might be a bit slippery after all." Kai followed after Theo, making sure to keep an eye on his feet.

Cole seemed a little sour for most of the walk, but did his best to put on a smile when anyone talked to him. Once they made it to the Falls proper he went over to a stream of water and splashed some into his face, hoping to help snap himself out of it a little bit.
Pointing up towards the top he smiles "I wanna make it up there before we leave. It doesn't feel right to come to a place like this and not go to the very top. Not when that's where we're shooting for." He almost blushed "Well I am. I know its more about the journey for you guys. Still, a sight like that is just as good as any rare Pokemon"
"I've also heard that there are Dragon types here. If that's something that interests you" He may have fire in his heart, but Cole was kind of hoping to find a Dragon while they were here. It seemed a lot of Champions had them, and with their natural power and few weaknesses he could see why.

Unfortunately for Kai, to get upwards, the shallow waterfalls have to be climbed. While the water is neither particularly strong nor deep, it's still enough to get shoes and socks wet for anyone who's not taken them off. Thankfully, at least, there are very few sharp edges left after all the ages of water.
Climbing, climbing, climbing, it seems that the falls go ever higher... but, at last, they reach a steep incline that isn't able to be traversed, and step out from the water onto a dry plateau. It's not at the top - the pillar next to them is enough evidence of that - but, it has a good view of where they just came from, as well as the path through. There are specks of Pokémon travelling through the falls - while the ones on the ground are too distant to make out, there are clear sun and moon shapes floating through the air at irregular intervals. How peculi- thud
All of a sudden, a shape plummets to the ground next to the Trainers. A shape that seems to be a Pokémon - bipedal, dragon-y, and with a very hard shell on its head. Despite the distance from the next level up, where it must have fallen from, it picks itself up, dusts itself off, glances up where it fell from, and starts walking away from the Trainers, paying them no mind. It looks to be headed towards a path leading back up there. Any one of the Trainers that follows its upwards gaze also spies a pair of circular stones floating and hovering around where the 'mon fell from.

Theodore glances between the small dragon casually wandering away from them unharmed, and the two spheres at the next highest point. Calling up, he starts to scramble towards the ledge himself. "Wasn't too nice shovin some small feller like that, he coulda been hurt." The teen had an edge in his voice as he dug in to get higher, a little red in the face, getting heated at the thought of it getting hurt. It -had- landed on its head, was a good way to scramble a feller's brains!

Kai grumbles to himself as he sits down, he was still watching Theo to make sure he didn't end up in a fight alone, but he really couldn't stand keeping his socks on any longer. They were the worst. After removing the offending footwear, he put his boots back on. He wasn't that interested in what he saw around, so he remained seated, letting the other two do as they want.

Cole wracks his brain for a minute before pulling out the Pokedex and double checking. Stifling a laugh, he piped up "T, that's a Bagon. They're known for living near cliffs and jumping off them, hoping to one day fly."
A dragon like this is exactly what he was looking for. He followed the trail that the little dragon had went up, hoping to find it before it leapt again

For something with such stubby little legs, it sure does manage to scrabble up the cliff quickly, jumping up from foothold to foothold on the steep incline. Theo and Cole are able to remain not too far behind it, though, as it makes its way up. Once they reach the top, they're able to see the small brown rocky spheres, about a foot in diameter, float closer to the cliff edge, almost taunting the Bagon, before jetting away, further out.
The dragon abruptly makes a running leap out, aiming for one of the spheres... before once again plummeting back to where Kai waits. It seems as if this cycle is probably going to continue for some time, but, at least the duo of Trainers are up top first this time, able to try and interact with the spheres first, or wait for the dragon to scramble back up.

"Seems they're rubbing it in" Cole says. He understands the little guys struggle. Doing something you thought was what you were supposed to over and over and over but not making any headway when others seem to be able to do it no problem.
He waited for it to come up again "Hey, how about we stop here for lunch? I'll make enough for the Bagon and......Do uh....do floating rocks eat? I'm not sure I'd need to make them food but I guess I don't know for sure"

Kai waited down for a minute, thinking something would happen fast, if at all. He looked back down the way they came, considering what to do. It might be too far though... After thinking for a moment, he stood up, cupping his hands around his mouth as he shouted over at the two. "Hey! You guys okay if I head back down and look around? I think there might be some interesting ones in the dark!"

"Sure, if'n you want Kai, I'm gonna learn these fellers not to pick on a little guy. Belle, come on out!" Theodore released his Kirlia after arriving on the overlook of the falls. "Toss one of'em fer a loop with Confusion, we'll set'em straight."(Belle goes on 17, Theodore binds Trick Shot and gives Brutal Orders.) 8CqU6oHD1d20-2 Confusion Vs. The Bagon, quicker this time, hop-hop-hops up, towards the plateau once more. It pauses when it gets to the top, though, as Cole seems to have set up shop in its runway... It cocks its head, and appears to be trying to evaluate what to do.
Kai, heading for a darker part in the arch of a pillar, takes what seems like only one step into the shadowed area when a bluish-green blur shoots straight for his face. Suddenly, his vision's obscured by a blur of wings and screeching.
The one sphere gets rocked around and disoriented by Belle's Confusion, but speeds forwards towards Theo to retaliate, its partner alongside it. The first orb begins to glow, heat crackling along its surface, before it unleashes a blast of fire towards Belle, scorching him - though the orb seems to get some backblast, the shell cracking, and revealing a pulsing and glowing red core. The second one acts similarly, but has ice form briefly on its shell before unleashing a burst of cold. Bell hits with Confusion. Minior A takes 2 injuries, and is confused. Belle takes 21 damage from Minior A's Incinerate. Minior A hurts itself in Confusion. Minior A snaps out of Confusion. Belle takes 20 damage and an injury from Minior B's Powder Snow.

"Yer doing great Belle, keep up the good work." Theodore beamed as the feminine Pokemon well weathered two attacks and struck with incredible force. "Tucked way up here these must be something special... Sakes!" One of the shells crumbled away to reveal a brilliantly glowing core. It was beautiful, like looking at a star close up. Theodore fished an empty ball from his belt and threw it at the Pokemon. (11 Vs Speed Evades, 1 On the Capture.)
The Kirlia, turning to the other Minior, attacks once more with great brutality. (51 Psychic Special, Monitor B is confused.)

Kai's hands come up reflexively, trying to prevent whatever was on his face from being able to touch it, though he stopped himself short when he realized it wasn't just attacking. That didn't stop him from letting out a startled yelp, the sound echoing the place as he almost tripped backwards."S-sorry, didn't mean to upset you! Can you please get off my face?! It's not exactly a Zubat nest!"

" Guess Kai isn't getting lunch then" Cole says as the Alolan runs off. And a moment later Theodore is blasting the floating rocks. Fantastic. Shaking his head, Cole returns to cooking. Once the Bagon reappears the fire type trainer grins and holds out a piece of seared meat " Hey little guy. I figured you could use some fuel for your flights" 12 on a Charm roll

The Bagon stares at Cole, long and hard. And then sniffs. Almost reluctantly, it seems to walk forwards towards the food... before engulfing the entire hand that holds the meat in its mouth. Its sandpaper-y tongue delicately slides the food off from Cole's hand, leaving the limb thankfully intact. There seems to be a rumble of contentment from the dragon.
The bat gets away from Kai's face as he stumbles backwards into the light, instead fluttering in the darkness and staring at him. Well... 'staring'. It doesn't have eyes, so, it's kinda creepy that way. It doesn't seem to be super aggressive, besides the initial dive-bombing, at least. But, it probably could have drawn blood with those teeth, if it wanted, so, it doesn't seem to wish him harm. Right now.
Theo's ball swiftly captures the one meteor, the natural sphere being encapsulated in the artificial sphere. Just like the other, Belle's blast cracks open the shell of the second flying stone, revealing a brilliant blue core... which soon unleashes another blast of cold at the Kirlia, encasing him in ice. Or, rather, where he was, a second ago. The Psychic type flickers, before appearing a little ways away, concentrating. Minior takes 2 injuries from Confusion, and is Confused.
Belle takes 29 damage, an injury, is Frozen, and Faints from Powder Snow. Minior snaps out of its Confusion.

Cole doesn't wince as his hand is almost eaten. He's gotten used to danger by constantly surrounding himself with things that might ignite him at any second and knives and all sorts of other dangers. The kitchen is a warzone and he was its commander.
"So, you like that eh? I picked up some Grumpig back in town, haven't made it in a few years, so good to know I still got it." Cole continues to move the pan back and forth in his hand, the fat dripping and sizzling off the meat as he watches the Bagon "Guess you get lunch first since the other two are busy fighting things" Theo was mid battle with the rock things, one already being caught. Kai was......somewhere. Hopefully not dead. Hopefully.
"You know, I bet if you come with me, I could help you fly even faster. Strong trainers bring out the best in their Pokemon, and I'm going to be the strongest trainer." He hoped. Deep down he knew he was the weakest of the three of them right now. But maybe this is what he needed. A strong, rare, Dragon type!

Glancing over his shoulder, Theo finds Belle hiding behind one of his legs. Giving him a reassuring smile and a thumbs up, he fetches another empty Pokeball and beans the second Minior solidly with it. (14 ACC, 58 Cap Check.)
"You don't hafta fight no more if'n you don't wanna girl. Looks like things'r about wrapped up here anyways. Let's look into some grub with Cole, I can smell the spice from here."

"Phew, You sure scared me little guy. What exactly are you wanting?" Kai asks that, knowing he isn't going to get an answer. He rubs his face a bit, as if to check and make sure nothing was wrong. Feeling nothing as far as he can tell, he tries to take a step back into the darkness to see if it had something to do with him just entering it's territory or if it's just that excitable.
