With the trade complete, she motioned to Brandy to follow as she headed toward the pond. ”The boys can catch up when they’re done eating and doing whatever...”
She seemed a bit anxious to get this over with. She knew she desperately needed a water type to be allowed into the desert as well as help for the rock gym in the next town. What she was really after was a bodyguard for getting into this pond and searching for fossils on the bottom.

The three boys soon catch up with Asa and the group all travel to Tumbleweed Pond.
"Well, nice to see y'all again," says the attendant with a tip of his hat. "Headin' on in to do some fishin' today?"

”We’ll see how it goes, I guess. There isn’t much choice in the matter, since we need a water type.” Asa seemed a bit perturbed at the situation.
”A boy said you keep the pond stocked... with what exactly? Am I going to be catching nothing but magikarp all morning?”

"Yes, ma'am, we keep it plenty stocked," the employee answers. "It's pretty dang diverse. It'd be a bit of a chore to give ya the whole list, but rest assured that there's a lot more'n Magikarp in there."

"Hmm... we'll see." She did her best to keep a grim and determined face, though she couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed by this task. She had never fished before in her life and she'd hate to think that she'd be stuck in the very first town for days, if not weeks, simply because she couldn't fish! She took the rod and bait from the man and headed to the pond. Brandy followed behind her but stayed a good distance from the water with her tail tucked slightly. It seemed that the possibility of getting wet had sapped a lot of the battle hunger that she had yesterday. Asa looked back to her and frowned. "We need to do this, stop being a coward. Just remember not to use a fire attack against whatever we catch... if we catch anything." 7qv4Zzy61d20 1d20 1d20

The rod and bait, which are all free, are cast into the water by Asa and Aidan. For now, Bo and Jack hold back and watch to see what happens. [ OOC: Fishing rolls here at the pond only need 1d100 just like searching for Wilds outside of town. I'll roll it for both Asa and Aidan.] sYiH7zZf1d1001d100Both rods have a bite right away! Asa and Aidan pull back as quickly and powerfully as they can, wondering what they've managed to catch. Their Pokémon come breaking through the surface of the water and land on the grass just shy of the pond's edge. Asa has landed a Poliwag! Aidan has landed a Dewpider! 1d100·1d100

Seems that the flight had struck him rather hard with exhaustion the night before, as he did not even have any recollection at all of falling asleep the previous day, and he woke rather late, needing to rush to catch up to meet with Asa at Tumbleweed pond. By the time he was there, already he had seen that she was already in the midst of fishing, along with Aidan. He watched for a short while, before seeing the two each after a short time, indeed pull up pokemon much more exotic that any old Magikarp.
This should not be that hard. Why not take a hand at it? He headed over to the man that was handing the rods and bait out. "Mind I have a go? Always wanted to try my hand at fishing" he said, the statement only really half true. He wanted to catch a water pokemon, thus he wanted to fish. He quickly would take to the edge of the water, once he was given his supplies, making an attempt at a cast.

Asa now owns a Poliwag. Aidan successfully captured the Dewpider as well and is watching Bo.

Asa moved to retrieve the Pokeballs that she had thrown. She frowned as she looked over toward Brandy in her battered state.
"Return, you can't help anymore like that." She held out the ball for the fox to go back.
Asa then sent the poliwag back out of the ball that had just captured it. "You're going to be my bodyguard. Let's go for a swim." As she spoke, she sat down to take off her boots and then her jacket and pants. Beneath her clothing she had a black single piece swimming suit on. She retrieved her re-breather from her pants pocket and waded carefully into the water until about waist deep motioning for the poliwag to follow her in.
Asa uses the third of three daily events to find fossils in the pond!

Aside from the ball containing the captured Poliwag, all Asa finds is the broken pieces of the first ball she threw.
Once she's in the water and motions for Poliwag to follow, it quickly begins waddling her way until it's in the water. While it swims toward her, Asa feels just how packed the pond is. Something bumps into her hip before moving along, and something else glides across the back of one of her legs.

Asa didn't appear to worried about being in the water with Pokemon. She had raised carnivorous dinosaurs in her last assignment, and she was pretty sure that nothing in this small pond had teeth the size of those.
When the poliwag reached her, she gave a nod and fitted her mask on her face. "You just make sure nothing tries to take a bite out of me when we're down there." She put the mouthpiece in place and submerged completely under the surface to test her gear.
With everything working correctly, she took in her surroundings and moved slowly into the deeper area to look for less disturbed silt bottom to start sifting through in hopes of finding fossils.

Asa finds a patch of dirt at the very bottom of the pond, where it is the deepest, that stands out to her. It is bare. No aquatic growth can be seen for a five foot diameter circle. She heads in that direction, a Mantyke hurrying to get out of her way as she travels. The amount of light increases and decreases as a Chinchou or two swim by every now and then.
She reaches the spot and feels the silt. It's fine and old, like it's been undisturbed for a long, long time. Vibrations in the water cause her to look up at Poliwag, who is going nuts, its eyes fixed on something behind Asa. She turns around just in time to see the wide open maw of a Totodile about three feet away and closing fast.
----
Meanwhile, on the surface, Bo has managed to catch his Surskit and Jack has caught a Finneon. Now everyone owns a Water-type.

A plume of bubbles vented from Asa's mask in her surprise. She pointed toward the incoming crocodilian and the poliwag released a stream of air bubbles toward it's face. Asa grabbed a ball from her belt and held it in her hand, ready to slam it against the lizard as it closed to bite her.

While the Surskit was quite Skittish, it was not something Bo was too unused to. They were not naturally combative Pokemon, so he quite simple, and calmly offered up the bait to the Surskit. It took a little while, but the Pokemon soon gently glided across the water, and nibbled at the offered bait, before Bo took his chance to calmly, and gently tap the Pokemon with a ball. It was a good way, nice, calm, with no fuss and muss. Besides, he had no real plans to keep this Pokemon beyond the desert. Hrmn...Maybe there was someone around the Pond willing to trade another water type for this Surskit? If he could find another water type it would be fantastic. He headed back to the fishermen, as Asa was doing whatever diving malarkey she seemed to be fond of, handing back the remaining rod and bait. "Thank you, was a little lacking excitement, but certainly an experience." he said, as he handed back the rod, looking for some other trainers that seemed to be done their fishing for the day. Uses Event 2/3 for searching for a Trade for his Surskit, hoping for a water type to trade for. outside the pond.

Poliwag's Bubble attack hits Totodile, who breaks into a corkscrew spin in order to keep traveling right through the attack. Totodile uses Bite against Asa!...but its maw slams into her outstretched Poké Ball first, and it is successfully captured!
Totodile. Level 6. Male. Adamant. Hyper Cutter. Knows Bite.
----
Bo finds a Trainer who is a big fan of fishing here and is back for this third day at the pond. It just so happens that he has two Goldeen and would be willing to part with one in exchange for a Surskit.
The Goldeen he is willing to trade is Level 6. Male. Sassy. Lightning Rod.

The stream of bubbles slowed as Asa’s breathing did. She replaced the pokeball on her belt and gave the poliwag a thumbs up.
With the threat gone for now, she turned her attention back to the place in the silt to carefully excavate the area.

Fiddling with his hair a bit, he made a show of the mental debate on whether or not he wished to trade his pokemon. Strictly speaking the Goldeen seemed to be the superior choice, though its lack of land mobility was questionable. Then again, it was just really as a token gesture. He would likely mostly just keep Magby and Toks in his party.
"Right, sounds reasonable enough to me. Here you are." He said, doing the simple trade. He made his way back to the pand, looking around the edge, before asking one of the locals. "Hey, did you see the lady that dove into the pond come up any time lately?" he asked, wondering what could be keeping Asa.
