Asa focused her attention on Bo and gave a shrug. "Nothing overly exciting. A Sentret, which I'm sure are pretty common in the forest. I'll see if I can't trade it tomorrow for something a bit more my style."
"Do you think the Pokemart buys as well as sells? I found a TM today that's not really my style either. I'm hoping to make some traveling cash from it." With that inspiration, she went up to the front desk.
"Excuse me, does any place in the city purchase items such as TMs?" She gave her best polite smile, which didn't do much considering she suffered from "Resting B!$*% Face".

Asa was....brief?...in her responses, seeming somewhat detached in the way she spoke, until another thought crossed her mind and she was up and speaking to the person at the front desk. He went and took his Pokemon from the Nurse after they were finished, deciding to have a look over his Magby and what, if anything was special about it. For it's level it seemed to know at least one slightly advanced move among its repertoire.

Jack trades Chikorita for Drowzee.
"Well," the clerk at the Mart says to Asa, "if we can determine the sell price of any item you bring us, we will buy it from you for half that amount."
[OOC: Since TM 20 sells for 1,000, the Mart would buy it from you for 500. But, since TMs are reusable, it might be a good idea to keep it so that you or one of your fellow Trainer friends could use it. I'll start a shared TM thread if I need to. Or you can still choose to sell it. It's totally your call.]

The Magby knows the Move Ember two levels early, but is otherwise no different than other Magby.
[OOC: That was a necessity to give it a fighting chance in battle, but now it gets to keeps the Move after being caught.]

Looking over the statistics, he nodded a bit, smiling as he took note of the move it seemed to have learned early, though the SATK was a little less than desirable. He would make his way around the POkemon center, and just outside, looking for enterprising young trainers that may be interested in the Magby. Perhaps if he managed to talk up the traits of the Magby, and the fact that it seemed a fast learner, he could get a better trade. Bo Uses his Second Daily to search and smooth talk for a good Trade for Magby.

Asa placed the TM she had found on the counter. "I'll sell it then. It doesn't suit our style at all, right Brandy?" The fennekin yipped and nodded.
Asa sold TM 20 for $500!

Whilst the speedy feline Pokemon was certainly interesting, it really was not what he had been hoping for. Despite what looked like it's superior statistics, he turned down the trade in favor of Keeping the Magby for now.
"Thank you but as lovely as she seems, she is not what I am looking for."he said simply as he paused in thought. Seemed that Asa was already somewhat distracted. Perhaps he should try for one more shot at finding a wild? Having more that two sitting in his roster would be a good idea. But at the same time, he felt his Nidoran was not getting the experience it needed.
He looked to the trainer he was training with and asked. "Hey, I just arrived in the region and wanted to ask, what are some of the interesting sights around here? I heard there was a gym in town, but I don't really know much more beyond that." he asked the trainer.

The Trainer understands and is okay with Bo turning down the trade.
"Aw, man, we got tons of stuff," the Trainer says in reply to Bo's question. "We got a Gym. Norma-Jean, she's cool. Real nice lady. Suzie runs janken games outta her house. Fun if you got the money. Uh, what else.. Oh, Old Jameson the Storyteller tells the best stories! You should ask him - oh, wait.. No, nevermind. Don't go see him. I forgot, he's not tellin' any stories right now. Sorry, lemme see, uh.. we got the Pond. Tumbleweed Pond. You can fish all you want there for free. Great for gettin' you hands on a Water-type before you head through the desert. They don't let you through if you don't have one. Oh, and if you're feeling benevolent, our Officer Jenny is accepting any help she can get with the investigation into the missing kids."

Asa finished the transaction at the counter and retrieved her Pokemon from the nurse. She had seen Bo go outside and followed after him, just catching the last bit of the conversation with the trainer.
"Wow, that's quite a road block. You can't even go to the desert without a Water type..." She tapped a few times on the Pokedex. "Well, not a complete waste of a ball, since the gym in the next city is Rock."
She didn't seem to register the part about the missing kids or the old man. Didn't hear, or didn't care, Bo hadn't known her long enough to know which it was.

That really was a bit of bad luck. Water types only to get through the desert? At least they had a place nearby to get water Pokemon from the pond it seemed. The part about the missing kids only just caught his interest, but he decided now was not the time to pry. They had a mission after all.
"So Tumbleweed Pond is where you are best likely to get a water type yes? Might there be anyone about that either sells, or rents out Rods for use?"

"Yeah, I saw a place. The guy there said it was even free to use the rods... I'm surprised they hadn't set up a racket and charged some crazy fee. I guess the people here might be a bit nicer than the corporations back home."
Asa frowned slightly. "I've never fished before. I hope it isn't too hard to do." She seemed genuinely concerned about it hindering her progress, even though she'd yet to conquer the gym challenge here.
"Oh, you seem to know a lot, so maybe I can ask you this." She spoke to trainer that just fed Bo all of that information. "Is it against any laws to swim in the pond?"

"Wha?" the Trainer says. He was walking away but he stopped when he heard Asa's question. "Well... geez, I don't know. No one's ever wanted to do that before. I guess it'd be fine with the staff as long as you're not interfering with the people trying to fish. It's pretty risky, though. That pond is kept full of Pokémon. Even a Magikarp can hurt a person if they're in the water."

"Hmm..." Asa tapped her chin when he brought up the point. "I suppose I'll have to catch a water type before exploring the pond then. My fennekin won't be able to help me at all under the water. Thanks for the info."
Seeming fairly content with the news, she turned to Bo. "It's getting pretty late. I'm going to go get some sleep and start fresh tomorrow. You want to head to the pond after breakfast?"

When the group meets up, they all agree with Asa's suggestion that they call it a day. The group utilizes the special free lodging in the back of the PokéCenter for traveling Trainers and, in the morning, they wake up feeling refreshed and a little less out of place in this new region.

Asa woke early in the morning, just as the Sun was rising. She headed outside and released Brandy. They started their training routine which would have seemed quite harsh to any regular passerby. She came in, used the facility to shower and change before announcing to the boys that she was ready for breakfast. Brandy stayed out of her ball the entire time.
When they had completed the meal, Asa used some of the free time to look for anyone interested in the Sentret that she had caught yesterday. The Pokemon was definitely not her style. Too soft and cowardly, she didn't even think it could make it through the training that Brandy just did without feinting.
Asa uses the first of three daily events to trade!

A Trainer is willing to give his Weedle for the Sentret. It's male, Level 4, of a Lonely nature, with Shield Dust ability.

Asa accepts the trade, if only to help fill out her Pokedex.
