The words were cutting, but in a way true, but it was more of a misunderstanding, with parties had the intention of protecting. Clearly they could see that... "I don't claim to be a saint, but my intentions are good."
Aiden was released, so clearly they deemed him a better person. There he stayed trapped as Aiden tended to the wounded insects, when Aiden asked for berried, Genki saw it as an opportunity to prove useful, and importantly, that he really did want to help. He struggled with his bonds to crane his neck this way and that, searching the surroundings for something useful. Perhaps he could spot something in the bushes Aiden could use, likely berries he was requesting, and if he spotted any, he would inform his friend.

Aiden's medical care, though somewhat lengthy, appeared to be of an excellent quality. His work soon restored the injured bugs to health and seemed to begin to make amends for some of the damage that had been done in the initial foray into this small copse. Some of the bug-types began to bring small wax bowls, each of them containing honey, though not all had the exact same amber hue and scent, in fact, with a little trial, Aiden soon realised that each performed the function of one of the manufactured medicines he carried- potion, revive, full heal. By the time he had finished, he had at least 6 of the potion bowls, two revives and four full-heals waiting beside him unused. At some unspoken command from their leader, each had its top sealed with a glob of wax and pushed towards him, then his friends were cut free.
"Perhaps. You. Friend. Misunderstanding. Now. We. Thank. And. Begin. Again." the leader thought, preparing for more amenable conversations.

((ooc: sorry about that. I'll proceed assuming that Wisp is not out.))
"Fascinating..." Cole would tap his lip in contemplation if he could move his arms. "Perhaps the fates have conspired to bring us together in this way, Human and Pokemon communicating like never before!" It was a thrilling concept, and Aiden's freedom did much to ease Cole's concerns despite the fact that he himself was still bound.
But how could he prove his good will towards Pokemon? It was true that Cole valued Pokemon considerably and got along with them much more easily than with other humans, but how coukd he possibly make this apparent? It was apparent that simple words failed them, but the base thoughts and emotions seemed to be freely read by the Queen before them. While his efforts to discover the true nature of the bond between Humans and Pokemon were less directly altruistic than Aiden's physical care, Cole had dealt with hostile Pokemon without resorting to battle before and he would do so again.
"Connect with me, Great Queen, if you would deign to honor me with the privilege." Cole closed his eyes and bowed his head towards the Vespiquen. "I would show you my heart and my mind to prove my intentions." To that end, Cole would attempt to bring his strongest of memories bonding with Pokemon to the forefront of his thoughts, hoping it would be those that the Bug Pokemon would 'see.' He thought of raising Gustav under the guidance of both the Honchkrow that sired his companion as well as his own father. He recalled countless trips into the wild on a quest for knowledge, not battle, and how he and the Pokemon he encountered seemed to share an understanding of his peaceful nature. He smiled, remembering the devoted and depicate care he out into hatching Wisp, as well as his decision to raise Rue alongside Genki raising her brother, so that the two would not be seperated. These were the thoughts he hoped to project to the ruler before them.
Cole attempts to use his Mystic Senses Edge to improve Vespiquen's disposition.

Bowing towards the Queen, Aiden nods to her. "I understand we did not meet on the best of terms and we wholeheartedly apologize for that. Your children will be fine, but will need a few days to rest before they are able to go out." He smiles down at the young Pokemon before looking back to the Queen. "Thank you for your kind gesture. I do want to let you know, that there are other humans on the island. I do not know how they will react, but I hope they will be more respectful than we were when we entered."

Genki searched in the darkened forest glade, but his eyes could not see any nearby berries- most would probably need more sunlight so the lack of any in the immediate area was not completely unsurprising, thought the presence of honey suggested that there must be some nearby.
Cole meanwhile reached out with his mind, attempting to calm and befriend the vespiquen, though her own psychic prowess seemed to open up more avenues in his memories than he had intended and she was instead flooded with a confusing set of images that also included several battles. The entire act wasn't as completely successful as he would have hoped.
"Kindness proved. Mistake shown. Now. Reward given." the queen 'thought' at them as several of her subjects or guards moved forwards. Assuming what might be seen as a battle position as they did so.

Genki's first instinct was to jump into another battle, his hand even reflexivly drew to his hip. He frose and thought, 'no room to repeat mistakes, that's what got us here.'
He turned his hand jerk into picking at some bits of webbing still clinging. It seemed proper to give a slight bow to the queen, "thank you for freeing us, I hope we earn your trust."
Addressing Aiden, "guess we owe you thanks too, nice work with the med kit. I didn't see any berries though."
Genki take a stand before the line of pokemon and recalls Dash back to his pokeball. As the bird digitized, it left a puff of webbing in its wake. If they wanna fight, Genki wasn't making the first move.
"Anything Cole?"

Aiden takes out Kiba's ball and recalls his friend back. He would not fight, unless their former captors made the first move. Turning to face Genki, "It was our fault the children got hurt. It was the least I could do. Thank you for looking for berries, though. I appreciate it."
Crouching down and gently putting the rewards from the queen in his bag, he bows to her once more, "Thank you again, Queen. I hope that we can continue to talk with each other in the future. I believe we can both learn a lot from each other."

There was a sudden movement near to the queen, the shapes and forms all entered the light. " You have shown us new things. That which has never been seen before by our kind, we are greatful and thankful for this. Times will change for us that is certain, but you have shown us a way, a difference, a journey that some may take. Therefore, as reward for passing this new test, we ask that you take one of our children. That you show it the journey that you call 'trainong' and you prepare us for when others of your kind come, that we may test them." The Queen 'thought' into each of their heads, the flurry of information and images now interespersed with what might almost be called words. Other combee flitted forwards, each holding a small comb wrapped in silk in an ornate design, no larger than a coin though clearly of a sturdy construction and capable of weathering all kinds of hardships, almost as if it were a metal rather than an object made of natural materials.

'Wow' he thought, 'it's not a fight at all, it's a companion!'
The tiny little Joltic just stirred and looked adorable. Genki couldent help but be captivated. He knew he had Prima thought, so perhaps he needed to make a more logical choice. looking over the crowd, he saw a great deal of potencial in the group.
Moving over and putting a hand on Aiden's shoulder, "It was your heart that got us where we are now, so it seems only fair that you find a companion first."
Genki continued to pick at webbing as he moved to a Combee holding one of those metal objects, "are these for us as well?"
(OOC: I don't plan on choosing Joltic, i just love him, so don't deliberitly not pick him because Genki was enamoured by it)

Cole recoiled at the sight of the oncoming battle formation, but he didn't really have any options left available to him. Resigned to his fate, he clamped his eyes shut and braced for the worst. After a few moments passed and the Vespiquen began to make its intent clear, Cole hesistantly opened one eye. A wave of relief washed over him as he found himself the recipient of a gift, not a beating.
"A royal gift is a great honor. I can but humbly accept your generous offer with my utmost word to care for and train your child to the best of my ability." Cole bowed his head once more and clasped a hand to his heart. To Genki's suggestion, Cole nodded to Aiden. "And I must agree with my brother. Aiden, you were the driving force behind our interspecies diplomacy. it is only right that you should choose the first partner."

Aiden just blushes at his companions' comments. "I did what anyone would do. I took an oath to assist injured Pokemon and humans. We hurt them and I needed to make it right..." he looked at the Pokemon and the metal objects they carried. "If you both think I should choose first..." Aiden crouches down to the Caterpie and very slowly holds his hand out to the Pokemon. "Would you like to travel with me, Caterpie?"

'Caterpie huh? not a fighter, but it certainly has other talents.'
Genki, recognized most of the pokemon before him to varying degrees. He took out his poked to scan them one by one and get a better grasp of what he was dealing with. True red gender marker on the Combee intrigued him, as did Sewaddle's Grass/Bug typing, 'keep that one away from a fire.'
There could be another Queen in the making here, but from a strategic vantage point, the coverage Genki would gain from a grass type could be helpful. He wanted to catch them all and build a large managerie of pokemon, though greed would not please the current queen. "I want to be a strong trainer, and use that strength to better pokemon and people on this island. It's true I tend to get into fights, but never with the express intention of doing harm, rather to protect and grow."
Extending a hand to Sewaddle, "are you up to the challenge, will you join me?"
Charm roll W2NbXKwo2d6
Addressing the Queen's comments as well as speaking to all the bugs, "Even for those who do not come with us, your Queen is right. There will be more like us, you will need to grow strong too, and defend. Some may find kinship with the travelers, you may find they will help you in times or need, or they may want to battle with you for the experience. Whatever happens, be resilient, and I hope you find that there are many more of us who are not bad."
He hoped his words came across, knowing that here was a communication barrier between them. After his brother made his selection, Genki would speak softly to the Professor, "I think you get to pick one too."2d6

Cole knelt before the assembled Pokemon. "I woukd be honored to be partnered with any one of you." he said. It was true, each one could provide him with something new and valueable to him. Still, the power of his team stood secondary to destiny. Cole looked to each Pokemon in turn and felt for the strings of fate. Cole allowed them to pull at his hand and he presented it to the Venonat. "If you would have me, I would have us be partners."

Having made their choices, it seemed that the chosen children were ready to go with their trainers. The caterpie waited carefully to be chosen, the sewaddle seemed to take it as inevitable, whilst the venonat seemed not to even react. Each seemed to possess some sort of rapport with the trainer who had chosen it, as if they too possessed their queen's psychic capabilities.
Sewaddle seemed ready for any battle challenge whilst caterpie still nursed wounds it had received earlier. The queen seemed indifferent to the threat of more trainers, "And now we shall challenge them as you were challenged. They too may grow and learn as you have done." she thought even as the Doctor shook her head, "No, no, I'm not sure that I really passed the test like you did, I merely observed." she said, making copious more notes.
(OOC: All are level 8 and have the Telepath Capability:
Caterpie- Patient, Female, Egg List- Bug Bite, Electroweb Sewaddle- Stark, Male, Egg List- Magic Coat, Agility Venonat- Calm, Female, Egg List- Skill Swap, Zen Headbutt
Everyone gains 1 trainer level for passing this challenge.)

Cole remained kneeling and stared at Venonat, perfectly still and unblinking. Venonat's piercing gaze responded in kind, which carried on for an immeasurable moment. Yes, this would do nicely. "I do believe we will get along well, little one. Cole finally broke the silence. He scooped up the complacent Venonat in his arms and stood. "Now, can anyone tell me where my other partner Rue is? The Ralts I called out earlier, we got separated and I'd like to see her again.

Genki was feeling the turn. From their trapped state to now, they were in a much better position. Moreover, the problem was solve with skills outside of the battle set. If the professor didn't feel she deserved a pokemon, and didn't seem to have an issue with it, Genki wasn't going to argue the point. Genki was excited by the vibe coming off the Sewaddle; they were both ready for a fight. "Welcome to the team, let's so what you've got!"
Genki scans Sewaddle with his Dex, while Sewaddle takes to activating his Leaf Guard, building himself a Heavy Suit. Sewaddle appeared quite proud of itself, further perpetuating it's nature. Removing a pokeball to make the team membership official, Genki pauses, "Professor," turning her way, "I already have six pokemon with me, what happens when Sewaddle enlists?"

"Hello, Caterpie..." smiles Aiden at the bug Pokemon. "What is your name? Do you have something you prefer to be called?" He lets the Caterpie crawl up his arm to sit on his shoulder. "I was wondering if you have seen my Growlithe, Kiba.... He is a dear friend and I miss him."

Cole's new venonat looked at him, its eyes never wavering from his, though not actually in any aggressive manner, simply in a passive way that resembledits trainer's. Rue tottled forwardsfrom the shadows, having been freed from wherever they had been held up until just before Cole asked, seemingly unharmed, if a little sticky from the webbing.
"Well, we have instituted a system that sees use on the islands of Alola- once you reach six, your 'dex will prompt you to place one ball on it to be sent back to our storage area. It won't let you swap things from storage, but you will have a choice over what to keep." the Doctor answered, giving a few gestures to illustrate.
Caterpie looked at Aiden, considering his question for a moment, then it slowly crawled back down his arm, and around him towards the shadows. She waited for a moment, looking into the dark, then Kiba came bounding out, a strand of webbing dangling from his ear fur.
"Well, I think we might have found the first test that trainers might experience on this island. I know it isn't a gym, but I'm not sure that every challenge here needs to be a gym- battling is only one of the skills a really great trainer needs, and I don't think we always support that development. Of course, we'll need to find someone to help guardian this challenge- perhaps a bug-specialist, or even a psychic considering the Queen's unique skills."

"That would be awesome, but I think that is something that should also be discussed with the Queen. I don't think she'd appreciate people randomly wandering through their home..." says Aiden as he crouches down to pet Kiba. "Are you okay, buddy?" he rests his forehead against Kiba's for a moment. He looks over to Caterpie and smiles, "Thank you. Caterpie, this is Kiba a Growlithe. Kiba, this is our new friend, Caterpie."

Genki kneels down, tapping Sewaddle with a pokeball after saying, "Welcome aboard!"
His Dex chirped, prompting him to select a pokemon to send back to the PC. He scrolled through and tapped on Gulpin, as he did, a pokeball on his belt digitized and vanished.
Genki whistles, "Dash, you out there too?"
---- Assuming all is well Dash comes flying out, lands and begins to shake her wings. Genki was happy to see her free of the sticky situation, helping to pick the remnant bits of webbing from her feathers. "Why don't you take a rest?"
Dash is recalled, Genki throws the ball in the air with a flourish, catches it and clips it to his belt. ----
Sewaddle reappears, "Aiden, if they are up for it, you wanna battle bug vs bug to stretch their legs." to Sewaddle, "What do you say Whipstitch, how bout a friendly practice duel?"
Genki was doubtful he would turn down a fight to prove it's moves.
