Upon arriving, Miguel would wait for one of the others to speak up. Him starting all this would be terribly strange considering the topic of interrogation and would pose further questions and possible creeper accusations so observer it was for now.

"This is Miguel and Ciara. Ciara, you wanted to talk to the president right?"

Ciara looked very uncomfortable with being put on the spotlight like that, especially since she didn't plan to go all like 'hey, I found a boy in the middle of a mental collapse, and he said to talk to you about the amount of work'. That didn't seem like the right way to approach the topic. However, she supposed it was her turn in the barrel.
"Well, I just wanted to ask about the organization of this event. I talked with another member of the student council but couldn't catch his name. He seemed rather stressed out?"

The council president nods
"Yes, me and my fellow council members worked nonstop to make this event perfect. I wouldn't be surprised if some were having difficulty relaxing after all the effort we put in."

"You may need some extra hands for the next one, I think. Not that I don't think you all haven't done a great job, but some of the younger members seemed verging on a breakdown. I'm fairly sure the one I talked to earlier today would have panicked had I not talked to him" Ciara said. She twisted her mouth, pensive for a couple seconds, before continuing.
"I really don't want to butt in, and I know sometimes it's necessary to work overtime to make something truly great. I've done it with my art, too. But most of the comments seemed to be about 'sacrificing to be great' and 'proving themselves' to you... so clearly something's going sideways somewhere"

The council president cocks her head
"Well, that's rather peculiar. I've never forced anyone to work overtime, or work past what they're capable of doing. In fact, I've been fairly active in reminding them that they may stop and leave at any point. I'd rather not burden people that can't handle the workload. Do let me know if you hear more complaints from people. I'd be happy to recommend them to some other clubs."

That... was contrary to what Miguel had heard from that frog. He surreptitiously raised an eyebrow at her and then at Ciara, wondering if he could casually sign to them if any one of them could tell that she was lying.

Miguel is no stranger to subterfuge. He's often found ways to avoid lying by telling small truths that hid the overall nasty truth he wanted to keep unknown. As such, he's gotten pretty familiar with certain mannerisms that come with it, and this girl just laid out a bunch of them. She didn't seem like she was lying, but definitely wasn't telling the whole truth of the situation. After all, there WERE kids working themselves to death, Miguel had already met one. So what was this girl doing to get these kids to overwork themselves of their own volition?
Ciara senses a similar vibe from the girl. She could tell that the council president was not lying, but the whole speech seemed very scripted. It's almost like she had been prepared for questions like these for a while now.

"Recommend them to other clubs? Surely that would only worsen the workload issue... and probably wouldn't address the underlying issue affecting that person." Suzume says, though she seems more to be trying to think it over than to accuse anyone of anything.

"In what way? If the underlying cause of their problems is the stress of the club, then wouldn't leaving the club eliminate that stress?"

Jericha, who is still leaning against a wall, chews on her thumb nail while watching the others talk. They are getting nowhere fast. She speaks up at the President's last comment. "Yeah ummm....I think the issue is the stress from overworking? Changing clubs wont help. They'll just stress out, and overwork in other clubs."

"Perhaps, though no other club works as hard as we do, but I'm just providing an offer for a recommendation, not forcing them to join other clubs. They're more than welcome to just leave and join nothing if they want. Also, I wouldn't call them overworked. That implies that I forced them to work. Once again, they're free to leave whenever they want, and join or not join whatever they want."

Miguel cleared his throat a bit to gain the girl's -and probably everyone else's- attention. "Excuse me, but I'm not quite familiar with San Fransokyo school culture and whatnot, having been more homeschooled than anything before my foray into college some time ago. I'm actually rather curious as to why people would usually join such an organization like this 'student council' if it has so much work and responsibility."
He looked at the girl with an inquisitive, yet calm gaze. "I'm wondering what exactly it is you and yours get out of serving the student body as such aside from satisfaction in serving your fellows. Perhaps you could enlighten me? It might help my companions here see your point."

Council president nods
"Of course, though I wouldn't say there's any one core reason people choose to participate in the student council. Some wish to see their school maintain the high standards we hold for it, some want to put it on their resume as they apply to colleges, and some just need something to do. It's the same as any other club, but ours is held at a much higher standard than most. Our school is renowned for the achievements made by the student council, and completing a term with me can do wondrous things for their career. Of course, as you've already noticed it seems, I run this council harder than any other club, and I don't want to waste time on those that can't handle the stress of it, so I make sure to remind people they may leave whenever they wish."

Jericha eyes the president, and speaks up. "Yeah that all sounds well and dandy, but it sounds like you run these members so hard they are more likely to burn out rather than contribute what they can. It's fine to work really hard to achieve some results, but the cons are outweighing the pros in more ways than you could possibly know..."

Jericha scratches her head as she is just trying to get somewhere in this conversation. "Uh...You know. We've talked to people, and heard things about how you run things. Heck, we've even seen it here like when you handle problems with just a a few orders. You control over the council is scary even...Why not...tone it down?"

Madame president chuckles to herself
"Please do not take this the wrong way, but what is it to you how I run my council? You're no student here. Besides, if I didn't run things the way I do, none of this would be possible. None of the good things we do would be possible. I am curious about these things you've heard and people you talked to. Can you be specific on what you've heard, and what exactly you're accusing me of?"

"Um, I don't know about the others but I did already mention the source of my concerns. I know of two young students, although they have asked me not to disclose their names. Probably because they don't want to disappoint you because they're exhausted, if what you've said is true" Ciara said.

Well they were getting nowhere with this admittedly-vague form of questioning. Fortunately, the time he was silent allowed Miguel to attempt to think of another way to tackle this.
"Well, forgive me for interrupting once more, but I do have a concern I do need to raise." He remarked after he clearned his throat. "One of my coworkers, a close friend of mine, has been having concerns about his newphew Kenshi Takahashi. Kid's been honestly trying to keep it together but he's been so terribly stressed lately that you can see the boy starting to unravel at the seams, and my friend and the boy's parents are beginning to notice. Stress like that isn't healthy, and oftentimes I've seen in my line of work and in others that it can project and affect other people. Like a domino effect." His eyes flicker to hers, curious as he played the role of curious, yet somewhat detached 'friend-of-a-friend' role.
"I'm sure it would be terribly inconvenient if it just spread, didn't it? Worst case scenario, you'd need to train replacements and that would be rather... inefficient." He continued, trying to see if this line of thought worked with her more. "Isn't there something that could be done about that, at least? Morale is important, after all, as is efficiency as I'm sure you and yours pride yourselves on.
