An eyebrownslowly raised once more at the sight of the shadow pulling itself out of the ground and then proceeding to act like a silent horror movie butler before sinking back to the ground. His eyebrow rose even further when the lights began to dim, but he was still terribly unimpressed because he'd seen this sort of thing done before, and better too. "Mhm. I suppose you're at least a somewhat honest drama queen, Slim Shady."
Scarf girl then caught his eye and he glanced over at her, only to blink at the smile offered. He didn't smile back but he did nod at her in acknowledgment before turning to the entrance when he heard someone enter. He blinked in surprise when he saw that it was the club manager, only for him to actually smirk for a moment when she radiated enough menace to actually wake up Captain Snore without a word. Now THAT was impressive. And hilarious. He nodded to the manager as she then left, his face back in its neutral, vaguely bored expression... though he does smirk again when the prrsident complimented him. He returned the high five and fist bump before glancing over to the other group as they... well, continued to quarrel.
He turned to the president and Addison with a wry expression. "Tell me, do either of you know why there's enough salt in this room to rival the sea? And it's not from you, Free Willy. I've heard enough hints but seriously I think a plane can float with all the salt in here."

Addison returns the high five and fist bump with immaculate form, a grin forming on his face. "Of course man, I can take you surfing any time. Always love sharing the hobby."
As the president continues his round of greetings, Addison eyes the recently vacated couch and very quickly plops himself into a corner of it, lounging comfortably. He doesn't seem to bothered by the back and forth in the center of the room, giving himself time to sink into the cushions of the couch. Eventually though, he finds some time to speak up again, addressing the rest of the room. "You guys can keep up all the verbal banter if you want, but if you keep it up, Clover's not really gonna have time to get through all the pre-meeting stuff. I have a feeling if that happens, Viola's gonna be pretty upset when she gets back, and I don't know about you guys, but that's a chick whose bad side I don't want to be on." In the brief pause in the air, Addi looks to Clover expectantly to take over.

Clover nods. "Oh, yeah. Sorry, the soap opera was fun. Anyways..."
He walks to one of the chairs, turns it around, and sits in it. "So....you guys know what Chasers are and what they're about, so I'm gonna skip the whole 'Friendship' speech and get into the meat. Each meeting, we're going to ask really quickly for a debrief on what's been going on, your ongoing cases, and if you need help with any cases or just life stuff. I'm good at the life stuff. Uh, if you need your Pokémon taken care of, just ask Uno. He's the dude in the straw hat. If you need any info on cases or the minutes for a meeting, Victoria's on that. She's new to being the Secretary though, be nice. Kind of cute too...eh, not my type. We don't have a tech guy right now...sorry about that. Viola's there if you need help, or come get me. I'll nag you less, she'll probably be better at whatever it is. And Mr Celestine should be coming in for the first meeting today, be nice. Don't want to chase him off, or his daughter."
He's constantly fidgeting in the chair, obviously getting bored. "So, Mr Celestine should be bringing in a case for ya. If you solve it, you'll upgrade to Training Wings. That means you guys have clearance to go after D and F rated cases. F cases are things like cats in trees, stuff that you could already do that's really just charitable work. D rated cases are low-level Predators, the ones who aren't that much above a civilian. You can go after higher-rated cases, but if a higher-ranked Chaser comes along, you've gotta step off. I'm Gold." He moves aside his jacket to show a gold pin shaped like Wings. "So if you need help with something big, just come get me."
"Any other questions?" He starts scratching the back of his head.

Oh thank the gods the soap opera was cut off for the moment. The tension in Zerne's shoulders ease a bit as the guy finally began to talk. Why, he even whipped out a notepad and a pen from his jacket pocket and began noting down the things the guy saidbso that he didn't forget the important details. All interesting stuff, even if F ranks sounded like chores one's parents would make them do. A few questions were already formulating in his head as this ended, all the while idly noting the fidgeting.
"What are the different ranks in the club as well as that of missions? Indicators of the former like your badge woild be nice too. So that we don't mistake anything." He asked as he becamw all business. "And how frequemt are these meetings and what time are they set?" He stopped after that, letting others ask the questions so that he wasn't the only one burying the guy in them.

The response from Alexander deserved a roll of her eyes, which Karen was happy to procure. Then, taking the hints from both Addison and Zerne, Karen backed off, both physically and in the sense that she didn't continue building the salt mines with Alexander and Teresa. Trying to shrug it off, as she actually shrugged a shoulder, Karen turned to give Clover her full attention as he explained the gist of the Chaser club and Chaser ranks.
Of course the stuff about the club was new, but it pretty much sounded like any other club, minus the Chaser stuff. As for the Chaser ranks, Karen already knew about those. The top chasers always advertised their ranks as an easy indicator of their power and skill. It was easier to get muddled with the lower ranks, but as someone who's aspired to be a Chaser for years, Karen knew them by heart. (OOC: Even though I don't, ahahaha.)
Zerne brought forth a good selection of questions. Karen added to the pile with her own, "A... case? As in a case for each of us or just one case... for all of us?". Of course, she had more to ask than just that. She wanted to know where to get missions. She wanted to know if, aside from higher ranking heroes taking over cases, there wasn't anything preventing lower ranks from taking high level missions. She wanted to know if Alexander was the only one to get it right and if they were all supposed to be wearing uniforms to club. There were lots of questions Karen had, but she held off for now. She focused on the first goal: passing the test. Of course, she believed in her abilities. Therefore, she believed that she would pass, but only if she focused and tried her hardest.

As Clover gets into the the details, Addison sits up just enough to snag a chair and spin it around. Then, he props his legs up on it, closes his eyes, and just listens to Clover talk. As Clover finishes his monologue, Addi lazily opens one eye and gives a simple, "All good here dude." Then, he closes his eye again and enjoys the couch while he still can.

"'Training Wings'...that is precious. Oh, do we get water wings and foam helmets too?," Alexander asked sarcastically through a toothy smile. "Although you might want to add a towel and some pull-ups onto your list for that one," he said, pointing at Addison, "he seems to have trouble holding his water," he snarked with a grin.
"So, just to be clear, if I'm working a 'job' and another Chaser with fancier wings comes along to poach it I'm just supposed to step off? Because if some old geezer that wears his underwear in the outside expects me to let him 'take it from there', well..." he repeated sarcastically just to be sure, letting his sentence go unfinished. Yeah, no. Not going to happen, he thought to himself. If someone did try and shoo him off he would politely and respectfully inform them where they could shove it.

Clover nods to the people who didn't ask questions. But he answers the rest. "Well, if you're talking about Wings, there's Training, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Emerald Wings, which are ranked in that order. Most Chasers pin their wings to the outside of their costume, that'll be a good enough indicator for you. Emerald can take on S, Gold can take on A, Silver got B, and you can guess the rest. Meetings are every Tuesday and Thursday, 1 hour after school ends. Don't be late or Viola will chew you out, or me. I get the feeling she likes doing that." "You guys are all probably going to be sharing the same case, unless Mr Celestine happened to be able to get you all one." "And yeah, Alex. You are supposed to step off. That's one of the perks of being a higher rank. Most Chasers won't, out of common courtesy. But the ones who do pull rank are probably doing it for a reason. Like the fact that some jobs carry a high death risk. We all look out for each other. And on that note, if you want a foam helmet, I can totally go get you one. You seem pretty keen on that anyways." He smiles at you. As he finishes answering, two people walk in. One is the boy with the straw hat that Clover talked about, Uno. The other is the girl that must be the secretary, Victoria. She goes and sits down at the desk that has been set up next to the projector, Uno walks over to all of you, giving a hearty handshake. "Howdy! Name's Hokum Hustles, but I go by Uno 'round these parts. Hope I can git you anything ya need!" He gives all of you a beaming smile. You see a strangely colored Ditto wrapped around his shoulder. "This is Six-Shooter. If ya need any of that fancy breedin' stuff done, I'm yer man as well." Victoria gives all of you a soft wave. "...Hi." She opens her right eye up, revealing a camera lens. "I'll be recording our meetings. So if you need a recap...let me know, I guess."

Teresa smiles tightly at Clover's remark to Alex, though she quickly straightens her face back out. No need to make him actually pissed off... yet.
She (again, awkwardly and somewhat hesitantly) accepts the boy's, Uno's, handshake, wincing slightly at the force behind it. "Pleased to meet you."
She raises an eyebrow slighty a Victoria's right eye, before shrugging, remaining silent. She'd seen weirder mutations out there, and besides, who was she to judge other people's physical abnormalities. She could hardly reach the second shelf, let alone the top (well... she could... y'know, telekinesis and all that).

Karen was quick to reciprocate the new greetings. An equally enthusiastic handshake for Uno, "Thank you for the hospitality. I'm Karen. I'll be in your care. Then extending to greeting to a big wave to Victoria, "Same with you, Victoria. Like I said, I'm Karen. Please take care of me!". She was genuinely happy with meeting these two. It was just a shame that her stretched smile told a different story.
Of course, it wasn't because of Uno or Victoria. The news that Karen and all of the newcomers would need to work together on their first mission was what had her down. Working in a team had been her intent from the start. After passing, she was hoping that she could make quick friends with one, two, or even three of them. Four, though... Four would have included Alexander, and while Karen did feel bad that she thought so badly of him without really giving him a chance, the fact of the matter was that she really wasn't sure if she could trust him, much less work with him. Thinking about having him as a team member gave her the involuntary heebie jeebies, in a way.
However, there was nothing she could do about it besides grin and bear with it. Roll with the flow and make the best of it. As soon as she finished waving to Victoria, Karen turned and re-positioned slightly so that she could see Alexander, Zerne, Teresa, and Addision all at the same time. Segueing her introduction to Victoria and Uno into this, Karen introduced herself to her peers, "And Addison, Alexander, Teresa, and Zerne, like Clover said earlier, my name is Karen. Karen Era. I was born and raised here, but until recently, I was studying abroad in Kanto. I don't have any mutations, but I picked up Pokemon training in Kanto, and I think that's given me a pretty good grasp of Pokemon battles and staying out of harm's way. If you don't mind, can I hear a little bit more about all of you? I think it'll be helpful to know a little about each other if we're expected to work together for our first mission." She stopped talking there and it sounded like she was finished. Except her eyes looked pointedly at Alexander. Why? Because in her opinion, he would be the most reluctant to give a straight answer.
That opinion would only hold for a moment because as she was trying to figure out some way to convince him to drop some information about himself, Karen realized that, actually, out of everyone in the room, Alexander had been the most open about what he could do and what he wanted. At the very least, he had spoken the most, and most of it had made sense. Whether or not what he said was meant to misdirect or to inform mattered little because it would apply to anything he said now. The most Karen hoped to do in the first place was convince him to say something, and he had already said plenty.
Upon coming to this conclusion, Karen's averted her stare at Alexander and went back to looking at the group in general. "Um, anyways," she marked a definite end to her current speech, "That's all I wanted to say so... yeah."

Zernebog noted down the answer, all the while idly wondering why the arbitrary shift to a gemstone and not just get something like platinum for top rank. Oh well, it wasn't his busniess how this group sorted themselves. NHe was only here to be a member for however long he thought he could go on with the hero flow. Before he could ask anymore questions though, two more people entered - a guy in a straw hat and a quiet-seeming woman who introduced themselves as Uno and Victoria respectively.
The Uno guy even had a hell of a handshake to go with the chill country attitude and the strangely-colored blob that he called Six Shooter. Definitely a Ditto, but it was weird. He returned the handshake eith a strong one of his own but nodded in lieu of a greeting. The Victoria lasy though? His eyebrow raised when he saw the camera lens on her eye. Sure he'd heard that eyes were like camera lenses in biology but this was a tad too literal for even him. He just nodded at her and mentally referred to her as camcorder secretary. Good enough.
Before he could continue asking his next question though, he glanced over at Karen at the question. He supposed that no one got dossiers on their new teammates... well, the newbies like him didn't anyway. He'd had to summarize what he could do upon initial application and that was hard enough to explain considering his power set. He didn't feel like showing off right now either - the other three were good with that.
So he just shrugged and spoke up first, lowering his pen and notepad. "Zernebog Romanov. Or Zerne like what Karen used, since people are prone to mangling the name. I'm an Erroe native. All you lot need to know right now is that I'm good and quick on my feet and that I'm scary when I want to be. Sometimes even when I don't. You all will find out the other details soon enough." There. Vague and told them about as much as he wanted.

If Alexander's comment bothered him, Addison didn't even bother to open his eyes in response. As the door to the room opens again, they open up so as to not miss anything. As the two newer -or he supposed, older- club members enter, Addison gives an upwards nod and the corner of his mouth pulls up into a relaxed grin. As Uno makes his way over, Addi sits up enough to give Uno an equally solid grip and a single, definite shake. "Hey, how's it hanging, Uno? Always a pleasure to meet new people, look forward to talking more." He raises a hand in the air and lazily points at Victoria as he calls across the room to address her. "Looking forward to getting to know you more too, it'll be a blast."
He leans back into the couch as all of the newcomers begin their introductions, resting his head in his hands. When there's an appropriate pause, he decides to speak up. "Well, I feel sorta bad doing these introductions without Viola here, but... I suppose she's keeping track of most of these details anyways. I'm Addison Fox, grew up in Spiaggia Town, moved here a few months back. I've got the ability to create and control saltwater, I'd demonstrate, but... I don't think Mr. Samson would appreciate me soaking his classroom, and I don't really have the power to make it disappear once I make it, so... Besides, it's not all that interesting, there's a lot of people out there with pretty similar powers, so it's not anything special. Oh, and I got gills as well that you can't see right now, so that's cool too, I suppose." With that, he gives a final shrug of indifference, signalling to whoever wanted to speak up next to go.

Teresa turns to Karen, smiling slightly. "I'm pretty sure you all know my name by now. Grew up here in Cappucio. As you've probably figured out, I have telekinesis" - she easily lifts several unoccupied chairs in the air as she says this - "and my control has been steadily improving. I can also create telekinetic barriers."

"Oh, you have no idea," Alexander snarked quickly at Clover's offer of a foam helmet. Oh, the fun he could have with that...
When Uno came around to give handshakes, Alexander returned his with a gloved hand and a firm grip. "Alexander, a pleasure. Well, I suppose it's true what they say. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the bumpkin," he said with a grin. Then he looked over at Victoria, his fingers interwoven beneath his chin, and grinned. "I had no idea you'd be recording us. Be a dear and make sure you get my good side," he smirked, sounding pleased...or at least sarcastically pleased...
He looked over at Karen as she re-introduced herself. "Guess we're taking a mulligan since it looks like you're stuck with me now, hmm?," he asked with smug sarcasm, returning her stare with his own smug grin. "Alright then, Karen, would you prefer I start from the beginning, or should I just skip through to the good parts?," he asked, staring her down.

Clover nods. "Good idea, Karen. Getting to know everyone else was something I...Oh yeah, I was supposed to tell you to do that. Well, Viola doesn't know I didn't tell you, so no harm, no foul."
"...I don't know what?" Viola walks back into the room.
"Nothing! Nothing at all!" Clover sits down, pale-faced.
"That's what I thought. Anyways, I'm Viola Rey, your Club Manager. If you ever need anything, just come to me and I'll see what I can do." She gives all of you a wide smile, but stops once her eyes land on Alexander. "And if there are any...infractions while you're in this club, I'll be notified. Keep that in mind." She goes to the desk and begins fiddling with her binder she seems to constantly carry.
"Please don't get on her bad side". Clover pleads. "She comes to me after she's done with you."
Viola turns around once again. "Mr Celestine will be here in about 5 minutes. Any more questions for any of us?"

The others were surprisingly -or was it unsurprisingly since he was in a meeting with a bunch of goodie two-shoes- honest with the general gist of what they could do. Well, Alexander more demonstrated his but that was also a pass he supposed. Oh well, if they wanted to be honest power to them and better for him. He wrote down their names and associated powers in his notepad.
As soon as Clover spoke up again, he stopped writing only to be amused at the fact that he was supposed to suggest what Karen had... and it was immediately followed by the manager coming back in and taking over after scaring the president. Quality entertainment right there. At the question though, he blinked and paused for a few moments before remembering what he had to ask.
"Do we have to do these missions in costume or in uniform at all? If so, are the costumes provided by the club or do we make our own or get our own somehow? Just so we're clear. Alexander over there might want to test out his foam helmet." He asked as he turned to Viola cuirously. "And if we get injured enough to be in traction, do we get excused from class or do we still have to show up?"

Alexander broke his stare on Karen and chuckled darkly at the mention of the foam helmet again. "There are much easier ways to skip class than getting yourself beat up championing thd cause, if that's all you're after," Alexander quipped, staring at Viola.
"And don't worry, Mr. President, should any...infractions...come about which; let's be honest here, it's highly likeley, out lovely manager will have to find me first, and I can be very...elusive," he said somewhat menacingly. "Although I suppose she may just go to you first then, or she'll come after you having spent so much time hunting me down she's even more frustrated for it. Not so great for you either way, I suppose," he said casually. "Oh, and if you're taking requests, I did have a small list of a few items prepared," he said, pulling out a folded piece of paper and holding it up absently toward Viola.
Still holding out the folded piece of paper, he turned his gaze back toward Karen. The look on his face very clearly read, 'Now then...where were we?'

Zerne was first to answer. Karen appreciated that, even if the answer he gave left her with more questions than before she knew anything about what he did. However, she wasn't going to try and force an interrogation onto someone who did nothing wrong. She'd just keep in mind that if she needed someone agile or someone scary, then he would be the man to go to.
Then Addison stepped up. He was a good kid and he was very open with what he could do. His theme was very clear, aquatic, and so it was very easy to memorize. This was the water guy. He just didn't make fresh water so he wasn't going to be able to help with dehydration if that became a thing.
Teresa followed Addison's lengthy description with her own succinct explanation. She introduced herself as an up and coming telekinetic. It sounded like, in this group, she was the person to go to if something needed to be moved with more finesse than a wave of water could supply. What was more, her admittance at her still improving control left a good impression on Karen. Teresa seemed like a level-headed girl who didn't let her abilities get to her head. Of course, the same could be said about Addison, with his laid back attitude, and Zerne, with his cautious introduction.
Last but not least, Alexander answered. Karen had turned to each of her likely teammates when they introduced themselves, facing them with all her attention. Alexander received no less when he spoke up, and that was when she noticed that he was still staring at her, even after she had broken that initial stare to address the group as a whole and then focus on the others individually. She felt a little intimidated by the stare, if she had to be honest, but hell if she was going to let the opposing side know that. She returned the stare back with equal force as Alexander drawled out his own question to her own question.
She would have answered if Clover, who apparently thought they had all finished with their self introductions, praised her for her idea. Karen broke the stare to look over at him as he went on to be interrupted by Violet and plead for all the new members to stay out of trouble. Karen had to admit, it was entertaining. A smile crept on her face and her body relaxed from the stand-off she had been having with Alexander just a little bit ago. Her face, which had only half-turned, fully turned to face Clover and Viola.
Questions? Karen had none for the moment. Although, Zerne kept up his streak of asking about things that would be good to know. As he asked, Karen would nod in his direction, displaying her support for what he asked.
Alexander, in the meantime, sounded like he was having his usual fun. Karen didn't feel inclined to bother with that anymore. That was, she didn't feel inclined until she saw, through her peripheral vision, his face turn to look back to her. Her eyes rolled to look in his direction as her smile dropped. To her, he looked like he still expected an answer. To be fair, it would also be in her benefit to have him give her some kind of answer. After considering everything, the Karen gave her answer, "Well, I just thought it would be nice for each of us to get to know each other. Not sure what you think the 'beginning' for that would be, but just say whatever you're comfortable with letting us know. If you can think of anything that'd help us work with you, that'll be nice, too." She seemed guarded, definitely trying to not fall into Alexander's pace and get her feathers ruffled too much over him. Everyone... deserved a chance after all... right?

"Whatever I'm comfortable with letting you know, hmm? Alright," he said coyly.
"Then allow me to give voice to a little truth that exists before your very eyes that most are comfortable to live their day to day lives in ignorance of," he began. "In this world there is one simple truth. Everything has a shadow," he said with a wicked grin. "A darker, malformed, twisted reflection of what is perceived as 'good' or 'normal'," he said, and he began to cite examples. "Glistening highrises and mouldering slums, the fabulously wealthy and the struggling poor, loving families and abandoned children, Chasers...and Predators...," he said menacingly. "Everything has a shadow...and I am the embodiment of that darkness," he said, holding his left hand up. A pillar of swirling darkness drew itself up out of his shadow and began snaking its way up his arm.
"I can manipulate that physical darkness, as you can see, but there's so much more fun to it than that," he said, smiling wickedly. "Where you reveal, I conceal. Where you go boldly, I tread lightly. Where others bask in the light, I lurk in the dark," he said, drawing his hand back and weaving his fingers together again. The shadowy tendril uncoiled and dissipated in midair.
He let his words hang in the air for a few moments before his demeanor started to crack and he began to laugh. "Ha ha ha, that was too edgey and dramatic, even for me," he said, an amused grin on his face.
