"Some of the best wood you'll find." Victor muttered with a weak laugh. "Anyrates, Cap'n." He turned towards Gladius, hooking his thumbs into the waistband of his pants. "Not really something a proper pirate would go looking to, not in the trade of saving businesses just exploitin' em' y'see, but the rum trade is a big deal even among the rough and tumble types. Sort of the go-to for seafarers that enjoy strong drink."

"Well, yeah, Rum's important, but I was just thinking this'd be the best chance to get the most money for our ship, so long as we don't strand ourselves here," he explained.
"That is really strange about those Grass-types...thanks for the warning," Gladius said, handing Shaw his own writ.

Blue hair? His mind, already lingering on the chest and it's contents threw up an image of a certain locket and the picture inside. "Sounds like this Captain knows something." Seeing Gladius pull out his writ as well Ezra produced his with a flourish. He was feeling a little more confident about this, he knew about Pokemon a bit, it was way better than people with weird magic powers. "It seems to me that a proper pirate does whatever they want."

After a bit of shuffling and double-counting, the four of you now have your money. Shaw also has pointed you in the direction of a cooper that would be willing to buy your ship at scrap prices. You're at loose ends on the island now. Plenty to drink, perhaps start a few bar fights. Of course you could always go out towards the center of the island, and see what has the local mon so riled up. As you're moving through the streets though, Gina feels the egg warmer begin to rock and vibrate. You also hear some cracking sounds. The eggs are hatching!

"Well, Koolari's buggered." Victor rumbles heavily, working a thick thumb along the side of his clean shaven chin. "If they insist the Marines step in to deal with their crop issues it'll ruin their livelihood and this place'll stop being a haven for us'n ours. Turn into a Marine shipping post practically overnight." His nose wrinkled in disgust, he couldn't help but frown at the idea.
"Cap'n, you saw how they was treating Gina and her folk. Wouldn't be no different here. Cept they'd round up anybody with any thought'a independence in'em, declare them pirates, and have 'em hung or jailed first."

Gina had remained quiet during the chit-chat and discovery of the local fauna(/flora? Did Grass-types count as both?) issue, not really having any ideas...Besides, the others seemed to know far more about the island than she did, seeing as it was her first time even off her OWN island. Maybe after they took care of this and sold the old ship, they could see the sights a bit. Probably not, but it was a nice thought.
As Victor spoke up about how everything was boned, Gina felt the egg warmer rock and the eggs wiggle, hearing the distinct cracking sounds of hatching eggs. The old merchant certainly wasn't lying when he said these were almost ready to hatch! The barmaid moved quickly, shoving everyone's eggs into their hands in the blink of an eye, then cradling her own as she awaited the birth of new life. Dolly, now far calmer without a giant spider eyeing her down for a snack, chirped and peered down, eager to see what exactly was in the egg she had been caring for.

Ezra nodded at Stone's statement, based on what he'd seen the people here would be pushed out or worse if that happened. He decided to stoke the fires with the tidbit he'd remembered as well. "I agree, also if we want to make this personal that blue haired man may be the same one who's picture was in the locket that we found in the chest. So it's possible he's related to whoever is after Gina." Ezra flourished and stroked his chin. "Either way I say let's do it, I feel like I'm on more solid ground when it comes to Pokemon." To his surprise, an egg was shoved into his arms at this point. It wiggled and cracked even as he looked down at the striped surface. This wasn't quite what he'd meant but it was good to see that they were hatching. "Ah! Thank you."

"Uuuuhhhhh....Precious?" Victor looked comically nervous at the egg rocking gently in his large hand, the Bulbasaur appearing by his feet from her ball. The grass type was clearly curious what would make her partner make such a fuss about anything, the large man popping into a squat and setting the egg down. "You picked this one, that means yer it's mum." Victor nudged the egg towards his Pokemon.
"Saur." Precious nudged it back, as if to say 'You're the one that wanted more pokemon!
"I don't know the first thing bout raising a baby Pokemon, gotta be you." Victor insisted, rolling the egg gently against the Bulbasaur's side with the flat of both palms. On contact Precious recoiled. "SAUR!" She frowned up at him really hard, swatting at his hands with one vine to get him to retreat, nudging the egg with the other.

"Yeah, it's pretty bad luck for them," Gldius said, hands on the back of his head as he walked away from the shop. He had a Half frown on his face. "It's not my job to solve all their problems for them, it's-," he started, turning around as Gina simultaneously shoved a shivering egg into his gut. Instinctively Gladius's hands came down, now holding the egg as it shook. He'd never dealt with this before. Aquila, perched up on the rooftop, looked down curiously.
Gladius held the egg at full arm's length as it shook. "H-hey...I think something's trying to get out...should I help it?," he asked. He shifted to hold the egg in one hand, raising his other hand into a fist which began to glow faintly...

Gladius' egg, as if sensing the impending shakedown, hatches first, a small paw holding a bone club erupting from the shell as if to ward off the imminent blow. The shell begins to come apart further as the mon inside uncurls, revealing a small reptilian creature with a bony carapace around its head. It blinks open its eyes, before looking upwards. Tilting its head in confusion, it awkwardly waves its natural weapon towards the glowing fist. "Cubone?" With Precious and Victor, the strange game of hot-potato comes to an abrupt stop as two tiny blade-like appendages emerge from the bottom of the egg, anchoring it place. There's a series of soft wobbles and a prolonged cracking sound as fissures in the shell spiderweb out from the two points. With an oddly metallic sound, the shell gives way, revealing a tiny red and black humanoid with yellow eyes blinking in surprise at finding itself preforming an impromptu handstand. It quickly loses its balance, falling over backwards with a light jangle, and giving a giggle. Ezra's egg begins to leak water, the shell bulging before one of the pieces blasts away in a gush of water pressure, narrowly missing Ezra's face, even as the spray of water soaks down his hair and collar. A lazy-eyed little shellfish with one noticeably bigger claw cranes its head slightly upwards, regarding the scarred man with curiosity, before its smaller claw manages to grab hold of his string tie, bringing it to its mouth in an attempt to see if it's edible. Compared to the other three, Gina's egg's hatching is fairly uneventful. The top and small sections of the front and bottom of the shell crack and shatter away. At the top, unfolding like a tiny flower, are several small crests, before a pair of tiny black eyes blink open. Tiny feet and limbs unfold, but overall the remainder of the shell remains intact. Letting out a huge yawn, the newborn looks up at Gina. "Toge... pi?" All mon are level 10

"Well inn that something." Victor chuckled softly, clearly endeared with the little figure. Bringing a finger in, he gives it's belly a little tickle and gets a poke for his trouble. "Well'n... those are sharp haha." He has a heavy seat beside the tiny figure, Precious glancing between her trainer and the newborn gaugingly. Climbing into Victor's lap, she butts up against his stomach, and gets in the way of his arms.
"Precious wh-"
As though to make her intentions clear, the Bulbasaur's delicate vines scoop up the little Pawniard, lifting it into the confines of that broad lap so that she can rest her chin atop it's head. "Baaasurr." She shushed.

After the initial jet of water subsided Ezra sat there blinking for a moment, he felt something tugging at his tie. Pushing his soaking hair out of his eyes he looked down at the squirming crustacean chewing on the bright red fabric. With a slight sigh, he reached in the now slightly damp confines of his bag, rummaging around until he managed to find a few pieces of Pokechow he had stashed there in case someone got hungry. He hoped the plain food tasted about as good as his tie did. With a quick motion, he extricated the tie and put a piece of the food into the greedy mouth of the newborn. Patting the Clauncher gently he smiled a bit.

Gladius let the aura of energy around his fist subside. "I wasn't gonna use it on ya, just to help ya get out. I thought you were stuck in there," he explained. "Never seen a Pokemon hatch from an egg before. Didn't know you'd be able to get out by yourself is all," he said, moving his now non-glowing hand to pat the Cubone atop the head. "Good to know you didn't need any help though," he said with his best attempt at what could be described as a grin.

Gina smiled warmly down at the little pokemon - a Togepi, presumably - as it hatched, her heart just melting at how precious this little thing was. Her entrance wasn't as entertaining as the others, especially not Ezra and his presumably-water-typed pokemon, but that didn't matter. Dolly tilted her head at the as-of-yet-unnamed Togepi, making a cooing noise before leaning down and nuzzling the newborn. At least she liked her new teammate.
The barmaid glanced up at the others bonding with their hatchlings and chuckled, cradling her own in her arms and playing with its tiny, adorable little paws absently as she spoke up. "Hey Ezra, do you have any more food? I'm sure the other pokemon are hungry, too, and I don't really have any on me."

Ezra reached into his bag and pulled out a handful of food and passed it to Gina. "I don't have a ton in here but it should be good for a meal for them."

Victor can't help but feel a great deal embarrassed, the pair of Pokemon cuddling in his lap along a storefront seated in the road as he was. By Precious' behavior he was pretty solidly sure it was an act, better she pretend to care for the new arrival and spare it Victor's attentions then have him get attached to anything else.
Looking up at Gladius, he leaned back against the building. "We looking at offloading a boat, or marching on the island's heart?"

"Hmmmm...," Gladius hummed thoughtfully, staring at the Bonehead in his hands. "Well, what's happening on the island isn't really our business...but if that guy who's after Gina is here...," he said, trailing off for a bit, "then I should go and set him straight. We can sell the ship after," he said conclusively.

As he absentmindedly doted on the sopping Pokemon in his arms Ezra debated with himself. Finally, he decided to speak up.
"I think there's more to this than meets the eye. The Marines start snooping around right after the trouble starts, they won't help the town but they investigate anyway. That's suspicious to me, maybe they're the cause of all this? Or looking to capitalize on whatever is causing this. With the fact that the Blue haired man is involved in this, someone looking for Gina, that says to me whatever is on this island is related to something strange. We could think of this two ways if we figure this out. We're either grabbing whatever it happens to be and taking it for ourselves if it has this amount of control think of what else it might do. Or we're preventing the Marines from having it and denying them from being able to use or duplicate whatever it is. If it's able to change the local Pokemon's behavior this much maybe it can do something worse and by not acting we just let them make something they can use against us later."
Ezra gave a polite cough and turned his attention back to his charge. He decided to say one last thing as he popped another morsel into its mouth.
"I can't guarantee it'll be worth it but if there's a possibility that it is something we could use or sell maybe going after it is worth a shot?"

"A good course 'ere there ever was one, Cap'n." Victor beamed appreciatively. It hadn't actually taken all that much to persuade Gladius when it came to Gina's security or possible future. If the man took to his own, and Ezra's needs with similar gusto, this may well work out in his favor. Taking a moment to get his bearings, he determined true north, and gestured towards the island's heart.
(I'll roll if it's needed.)

"Hmm...," Gladius hummed, considering what Ezra said. If it was somebody causing this, well that wasn't right...but he had no reason to think that was what's afoot. "I guess we'll find out when we get there," he said dismissively, turning his attention back to the Pokemon in his hands.
"So...you got a name?," he asked it.
