"Alright," Dave says, nodding, and taking the Pokéball. "Do you have a... well, I guess you don't have PokéNavs here. Whatever the Unovan call device is. Do you have a number for that, so I can let you know when I've got him?"
He doesn't answer the question of numbers directly, just noncommittally half-nodding, still mulling that question in his head. At least until he's interrupted by the sudden hug. Thankful when it ends, he says, "No need to call me 'Mister'. Just 'Dave' is fine." He runs his fingers through his hair. "Anyways, I should probably get going. Don't want to keep Riley waiting any longer than I have to, after all." Assuming that there's nothing more that Aaron has to talk with him about, he starts walking out of town, checking to see if his PokéNav has anything about whatever that 'Dreamyard' is. At the very least, where it is. Hopefully it does, because he really doesn't feel like trekking back through town to the Pokémon Center to look it up.

Luke packs up his grooming kit as he finishes his training sessions, looking at the others. "You guys ready to go? If we leave soon, and take the shortcut, we should make it to Striaton before it gets dark."
He thinks for a moment, having a feeling they're forgetting something. "Maybe we should contact Dave. I'm not sure he knows about the shortcut, or where it is... and I think the producers would prefer it if we stuck together in the first place..."

Jack finished packing up his cooking gear and food, recalling all of his Pokemon except for Bolt.
"That sounds good to me. And, yeah, you're probably right. I'll buzz him," he said, taking out his Pokedex. He entered Dave's contact info and hit the 'Call' button, setting it on speaker.

It seems to Dave as though this day is slowly going to get worse and worse. It had started off so nicely, too. But, his egress from the town had been halted by his PokéNav ringing. Again. Really, he should turn that thing off.
He debates just refusing the call, but... well, might as well see what Jack wants. If it's just something like calling to talk about their defeat some more, he can always just hang up. So, shortly before the call would end on its own, he picks up. "What do you want?" he asks, with a bit of a sigh.

Jack was just beginning to think that Dave wasn't going to answer when, to his surprise, he did.
"Hey Dave! It's Jack, and I've got Luke and Jacqueline here," he said. "Luke knows a shortcut to get to Striaton, so we were about to head that way. Just figured I'd call and see if you wanted to come with us. It would save a lot of time off the trip," Jack said, holding his 'dex out and waiting for Dave's response.

"I see." Dave says, impassively. While getting to the next city quicker would be a definite boon, it would be mitigated by once more having to travel with the others...
He remains silent for a few moments, weighing his options. In the end, he decides that giving the people that he's pursuing less chance to clear out would probably be the better plan. "I'm about a half hour out of town," he says, at last. "How far away am I from this shortcut?"

Luke sighs at Dave's brilliant description of his current location, and considers telling him how to get to the shortcut, but quickly decides against, figuring the city boy would just end up lost and be attacked by a pack of Poochyena. "Dave, just stay put where you are, we should be around your location in, like, twenty or so minutes so we can pick you up."

About twenty minutes of awkwardly standing around awaited Dave, before three familiar heads poked out of the brush.
Another twenty minutes later, and they were back on the alternate path, the 'road' being more just beaten down dirt instead of any sort of paving, and the shrubbery around invading the space a lot more than on the main path. It looked nearly abandoned, though upon closer inspection, there are hints of people passing along this way semi recently, though it was hard to tell with the trail as worn as it was.
However, one thing you all notice is that thanks to the thick overhang above you, the Drones had no way to see you. For the moment, you were off camera.

As they start moving on the shortcut, Luke calls out Maia. "Maia, keep an eye out for any problem, please?" He looks to the others. "After yesterday, I kinda want some extra eyes to watch our backs..."

Jack walked along with Bolt at his side, the Pikachu ever-vigilant on his trainer's behalf. Jack noticed that, for the moment at least, the drones were gone.
"Well, that's nice," he said. "We get some privacy for a little while. No cameras," he said cheerily.

While Dave isn't really in a particularly chatty mood, he, too, is relieved at the lack of the omnipresent drones. He hadn't expected them to be quite so intrusive. It was one thing having all his battles recorded and watched. That's something he'd gotten used to quickly. But, being on camera all the time was something different...

As the group travels along, Gawain eventually begins to act restless until he runs ahead of the group and turns around, fur bristling along his spine.
But a moment later, a small green orb dashes past and into the bushes on the other side, the leaves shaking, showing that it had stopped for the time being.
Before anyone could take a look however, a small pack of Lillipup, lead by a larger canine Pokemon that just looked like a more grown up version of the pups.
The larger dog sniffed around before finally pointing right towards the bush where the little green orb had hidden

In the moments that it's visible, Dave recognizes the fleeing Pokémon as a Natu. Their evolved form was always pretty neat to watch battle. It required a lot of planning, because they weren't the strongest, but they had a lot of tricks that you needed to watch out for, if they were trained right. And that's something that would be a valuable addition to his team. Of course, these dogs might complicate things a bit. He calls out Threepio, the Karrablast hopefully being able to prove his worth if things go south, before looking at the pack and saying, forcefully, "Okay, you've all had your fun. Now shoo. Go off and chase something else."Command: 15

Seeing the pack of Lillipup and the Herdier chasing something Jack didn't recognize, and blocking their path, Jack jumped in to help Dave.
"Go on, get!," he said, trying to add his own authority to Dave's, and waving off the pack. ((Command: 11))

Luke slowly backs away as the other boys start 'asserting their dominance' over the dogs. With the way the Lillipup had been behaving around here, that was most likely not going to end well for anyone involved. "Guys, I don't think that's such a good idea..." he says, trepidation clear in his voice. Gawain slowly moves in position, taking place between Luke and the canines, ready to defend him. Maia does the backs off a bit, keeping an eye out on the situation.

Jacqueline winces a bit as the two boys confront the pack, and very quietly reaches for a pokeball, releasing Floon. She gives him an order in a quiet voice as she backs up a ways. "Floon, if you wouldn't mind Minimizing and then flying overhead, ready for a fight, I'd appreciate it."

When Dave and Jack begin to yell at the canine Pokemon, things initially seem to be going well, the Lillipup begins to chatter between themselves and slowly back up. However the Herdier takes a step forwards towards the boys, its fangs clenches together as a snarl escapes its lips and it holds firm, having technically listened to Dave, and turned its chase towards new prey.
The fur on Gawains back rises as he moves into position, the tension being so thick in the air that the little Normal Type was already bracing himself for a fight.
On Jacqs command, Floon flew up into the sky, the release of air propelling them above the Pokemon and also causing them to shrink in size, looking slightly deflated but ready to go
Threepio also looked primed and ready for a fight, but after training with Hal earlier, knew to wait until Dave's command, especially having heard his tone just a moment before.
Bolt stood on Jacks shoulder, his anticipation for a fight causing electricity to crackle down his entire body, making Jacks hair stand on end for just a moment.
When the Lillipup saw the Herdier had decided not to back down, they turned their attention towards the group as well, reluctantly stepping forward as the lead one let out a pitiful excuse for a growl, their nervousness showing

Luke sighs, resigning himself to battle the dogs. "Things can never be easy, can they?" He mutters under his breath, before steeling himself. "Gawain, get ready. Go in, quick. Get the Herdier."Gawain dashes in towards the Herdier, aiming to bash into the larger canine. Luke Binds Plainly Perfect on Gawain. Gawain uses Quick Attack on the Herdier. AC2: 4WKXghoC1d20+1, 41 Physical Normal Type Damage. Gawain gains 5 DR for one full turn. 1d20+1

Jack frowned at the dogs pokemon. Bolt already knew what to do, he was building up his charge, readying to launch an attack. "Nope, but if things were always easy, they wouldn't be worth doing," Jack said to Luke with a smile. Jack uses Focused Training on Bolt. Bolt has 2 uses of Focused Training and 1 use of Agility Training on him.
Bolt is staying on Jack's Shoulder and using Charge, building up for an attack.

As the dogs begin to bristle, so does Jacqueline, raising her hackles. Seeing the boys spring into action, her eyes carefully track how Gawain bursts forward in a dart of speed. Then she calls out for Floon to join the fight. "Floon, let the boys go after the leader, start crushing the small stuff."Floon gives a monotone "Flooooooooooooo~" and drifts forwards in the air, above the heads of Gawain and the Herdier towards the pack behind. Once Floon is in a good enough position, it summons up the air around it, and blows a massive gust onto one of the pups below. Jacqueline used Focused Training on Floon! Spending 1 AP to record Quick Attack from Gawain!
Floon moves forward 4 squares and uses Gust on the closest Lillipup! QmNYDQkW1d20+2 vs AC 2 2d6+25 Special Flying Type damage Floon's current evasion: 61d20+2·2d6+25
