Matt frowned as the sounds grew louder "They're coming up here. It's gonna be a bit before I get this guy undone, can you all keep them out of here? Bul might be able to move the stuff back in front of the door if one of you helps him. Or he can help fight them back, he knows what he's doing even without my guidance."
He smiled a bit "You hear me Bul! I'm putting you in charge of keeping us safe!"

Steven nods his head, a look of worry on his face. "Uh huh, I heard that all right. Guys, hurry up please."
He moves over to the door, motioning for Sirius to follow him, so they could push the door close and keep it closed for as long as possible.

Julie tries to ignore the skittering as best she can, still working to unravel the Klink from its mess. She takes a quick moment to address Tear with a brief "Help at the door" but otherwise remains completely focused.

The little Klink comes another third of the way free, but is still tangled up and sending out occasional bolts of electricity through the wires. From beyond the door, the skittering grows louder until, suddenly, something from beyond crashes into the door, threatening to force it open. The pokemon, vaguely ordered to watch the door, hold against it, trying to keep it shut. The sound of clacking pincers and skittering feet can be heard beyond, the wood groaning as the bodies press against it. Alright, so a set of rolls again, and Athletics for any pokemon and people trying to keep the door shut. You have to beat the combined total of the Durant...which I rolled in at 32.

As she hears the skittering getting closer, Val realizes what's happening, and throws herself against the door in a panic to keep it closed. She did not want to face that swarm... "Dinah!" she calls, fairly worried. "Help me out, here! Please!"Dinah Focus: 14 Val Athletics: 7
Total: 21

Matt didn't even turn his head before yelling out "Bul, they could really use your help right about now."
He knew he needed to get this thing untangled to get the sounds to stop, but all the stuff going on in the background was making it a bit hard to focus.
He smiled a little, and looked to Julie "Man, when I woke up this morning I didn't think I'd be saving a baby Klink from a pissed off swarm of Durants with two pretty girls" He shook his head and went back to work with a chuckle

Julie barely blinks for a moment at Matt's comment, a bit of color rising to her cheeks, but she quickly attempts to push it aside. "There's a concept known as timing, one you obviously haven't grasped yet." Then, she narrows her eyes and doubles down on the work. She was allllllllmost done. Tear, meanwhile, gets as much grip as a tadpole on dry land, pushing against the door with all her might.

Steven slams his hands against the door when he hears the chittering grow dangerously close and the wood groaning in an effort to keep the door closed. His efforts, however, are nothing compared to Sirius', who slams into the door and steadily pushes against it, putting his whole weight behind it.
Meanwhile, Steven hears Matt talk. "OY! Casanova, time and place! Focus on getting the bucket of cogs out of that place!"

"Hey!" Matt yelled back "It isn't just a 'bucket of cogs'! It's name is Turbine and it's coming with us as soon as I get theses damn wires undone!"
He continued to focus on the wires for a few seconds before muttering "My timing is just fine, thank you very much"

Hearing the boys yelling at each other, Val snaps, with panic colouring her voice, "We can worry about what it's called - besides trouble - when we're out of here. Just concentrate on getting it out, because hopefully that'll get the neighbours to calm down..." I don't want to die... there's so much more here to see! I just escaped that frozen nightmare...

Everyone and their pokemon rush to the door, managing to hold back the rising tide or Durant. With a herculean effort, Sirius slams the door shut, and even has the foresight to turn the lock, with a large deadbolt slamming into place. With everyone holding the door, it doesn't seem like it's going to budge...then the crunching starts. The door is shaking and shuddering, and it sounds like the Durant are trying to eat their way through!
It is at this moment, just as Matt shouts out a name for the little Klink, that Julie unplugs and untangles the final wire. Matt reaches in, giving a pull, and the last of the wires fall away as the Klink comes free!
One last little burst of static echoes across the intercom before it finally goes dead. In the absence of the static, the burrowing and crunching of the Durant is all the louder...but after a moment, it stops. The Durant pause for a while...waiting, practically daring the noise to return...and when it doesn't, they begin to skitter away.
You are all left up in the control tower, the room largely quiet aside from the panting breaths of people and pokemon. Sirius practically collapses up against the door. "Ri-o-luuu," he says with a heavy sigh, to which the other pokemon largely agree. It is pretty clear that Sirius had no desire to fight those Durant...for one reason or another.
The Klink in Matt's arms had been quiet since being freed from the wires, but now with the danger having seemingly past it begins to squirm and squeal with joy. "Klink! Klink-Klink, Kliiiiiink!," it squeals in a squeaky voice with a happy smile. With all the squirming, it seems to be trying to get free of Matt's grasp...kind of like a baby trying to wriggle its way out of your hands.

"So, uh," Val says, attempting to calm down, "What now? Do you think those... things... are gone? How... how long should we wait in here to make sure? I don't want to wait too long... because we should head back to Randy." She takes a few deep breaths, before she snaps, "Can you please shut that thing up? What if it attracts that swarm again?"

Matt frowns as he attempts to calm down the Klink "Val, chill out a bit, it's just a baby, it doesn't exactly know how much danger it was just in. We can just wait a few minutes and it'll be golden. Isn't that right Turbine?" He says looking down at the little thing with a slight smile
He looked at Julie and bit his lip for a second "We both saw it at about the same time....I guess that means we have equal rights to catch it...."

Julie looks between Matt and the Klink for a few moments, smiling as she sees it finally free and happy, leaning over to be eye level with it. "Well hey there little guy~! Feeling better now that you're not all trapped?" She gives it a few pets on the head as best she can before standing back up straight, looking at Matt. "I don't think we have to worry about it right now. Let it enjoy at least a few more minutes of pure freedom, hmm?" She tried to hide a slowly growing smile on her face as she sees Matt biting his lips. It was so transparent how much he wanted the little steel type, it amused her. Then, she turned around to face the doorway and the other two. "We honestly should be fine now. Hopefully Uncle Randy is too, but we should probably go find him!"

Steven leans heavily against the door even after the Durant have left, panting heavily as the adrenaline wore off. Then, he collapses on his knees, and begins laughing for a few moment, before letting out a jubelant 'Whooo!' and thrusting his hands in the air. He picks Sirius up in a hug and twirls the small canine around for a few moments. "Sirius, you were brilliant!" he says, still smiling broadly, "We'd have been minced meat for sure if it wasn't for you!" He puts the Riolu back down and stands to face the others, still grinning. "That was absolutely, mind numbingly, terrifyingly, freaking AWESOME!" he exclaims, eyes shining with excitement. It takes a few moments before he calms down enough to think straight, and he shakes his head to clear his mind. "But yeah, we should probably go down and see if how Randy's doing." He thinks for a bit, before adding: "Let's avoid the handrails this time, though."

Sirius was grateful for all the attention he was getting, although the hug and twirl clearly embarrassed him and left him scratching behind his head when Steven puts him down. Bulwark takes notice of this and walks over. "A-ron, ron ron~," he says in a whimsical, sarcastic tone. This causes Sirius's face to redden further, a vein appearing on his forehead, and he raises a shaking fist. "O-lu...," he growls menacingly. Tear and Dinah, though, both stay out of it.
The Klink was very content to be pet by Julie, bubbling and gurgling happily...that is, until Val snapped at it. The sudden loud, harsh voice surprised it, and the Klink started to bawl and cry loudly.

Val winces at the loud cry. Oops. I suppose I am a bit too high-strung right now... It was her fault that this was happening, though, and she certainly doesn't want it to be her fault if the swarm comes back. So she tries to ground herself, and try a different tact. And tone. "Oh... uh, please don't cry, little guy. Or girl. Or... whatever," she says, in a much softer tone. "I just want to make sure that we all actually make it out of here... So, please... shhhh..." Hopefully the tone would help, even if it was too young to understand the actual message. Charm roll: 10

Steven grins a bit as Bulwark teases Sirius, ready to retaliate for his little friend before things got out of hand. "What's the matter, Bulwark? Jealous? Feeling left out? Want me to ask Matt to give you another big smooch?" He grins devilishy.
He winces as Turbine resumes his crying, somewhat annoyed and worried the Durant would become agitated again by the sound. "Could someone please shut that thing up, or put it in a ball or something, before it pisses off the Durant hive again."

When Matt heard Steven talking to Bulwark, he smirked a little, still cradling the little Klink "You know Bul could beat Sirius in battle, even with type disadvantage" He calls out
Turning his attention back to the little Steel type he talks calmer than normal "Come on little one, no need to fuss. You've got a nice strong crew to keep you safe now"

At Steven and Val's comments, Julie's face suddenly flickers into annoyed anger, and she whirls around to look at the both of them. "Hey, both of you, knock it off. Imagine having no memories, and then suddenly you come into existence. You have no tools to judge the world, everything is dark, you can't move, and you're in pain. It's not its fault its egg was shoved in there! It's just a little baby, and the first instinct you two have is to yell at it? What is wrong with both of you?"
Julie turns back around after that and crouches down to the Klink's eye level again, immediately plastering a big smile on her face for its sake. "Who's a good little Klink? You were very brave to last in that dark box for so long. You're a very brave little guy indeed!" She then smiles widely at it and begins petting its head, trying to keep it happy and content.
