Oh. Good. They have to know how they can identify with the person who used to be a Pokémon for most of his life. This isn't a lot of pressure at all, nope.
Fortunately, Em's presence helps ground him from spiralling into too much panic. That, and knowing that there are people depending on him to help. He has to at least try. The worst that can happen, after all, is 'no.'
"Thank you for giving us a chance, Gym Leader," he says, doing his best to give a smile instead of showing how much anxiety he has. "Should we... come back once your Gym is closed for the day?"

I'm not going to say it was damage, but it was damage.

Pryce squinted out one of the windows and shook his head. "No, I think we can safely write off today. Being consistent is important, but years of consistency hasn't changed the frequency of Mahogany's gym challenges. Here, this way."
Guiding them out a side exit, it was clear that Pryce rarely navigated his field himself anymore. His pace was even and strong, but careful. A short walk across the street to a little greasy spoon, he settled in a booth and spoke cordially to the servers and cook. "You two have something special.". He commented with a slow smile, making Em blush.
"It's said love is wasted on the young, but it warms me to see how you smile at each other."

Thel's surprised that the eatery has a different feel to it than other places that he's been to so far. It makes him wonder how things like that are achieved, but he doesn't dwell on it too long. He has more pressing concerns right now.
"We've learned from experience that everything you have can be ripped away in an instant," he says, squeezing Em's hand. "So we try not to take any moment for granted."
"So... how much of our story are you wanting us to get into? Because the full account of what we've been up to could take some time, so if you'd prefer, we can cut it down some. I wouldn't want to say to the more important parts, because the small things can be just as important, but to the... events of greater significance to the larger world?"

"There is no sense in rushing anything worth doing son. Build things that last. Take your time and shape the world you want to live in with the slow strength of a glacier." Pryce sipped his tea and pretended to be interested in something outside as Em and Thel quietly took council with each other on where to start and how to tell the story. It did seem like, in that moment, it was a monumental thing to be asked.
The hours in Pryce's company were comfortable with occasional breaks. There was plenty of food and drink, as he listened with rapt attention, asking questions that often scraped at things the couple might not have wanted to discuss at length. The old admiring the new, offering wisdom in the coming twilight.
