With another powerful swing Muku scythed Talon clean through the upper half of the Pallosand, revealing the purplish brown blob with beady little eyes and pink protrusions. It blinked several times against the sudden brightness, and began to slowly worm it's way from the lightly shuddering corpse with the same lack of concern it had with being eaten in the first place.

Without hesitation, Muku continues to pick up the tiny sea potato, scooping it up into a terrifying cradle of bird. "Nope. You're coming with me for a bit. Somewhere where you might not get eaten. Then I'll drop you. Got it? Good."
It doesn't take long really. She jogs a few meters from where she started, away from the slowly dissolving sand castle that she had metaphorically kicked into oblivion. It might have made a good partner that sand castle. But Muku wasn't here for partners. Farther away now, she gently deposits the creature onto soft earth, sitting down in front of it criss-cross applesauce. Talon lays across her lap as she points an accusatory finger. "You. What was that? Come on. You know you were getting eaten, right? You can't just sit there like that. It's obscene. It's wrong. You get that, right?"

With the sound of something wet and obscene, from the creature's mouth projected a hand-like appendage. It gave Muku a thumbs down, before slurping the mass back into its body. "Pyu~Muku.". It states in a tiny voice, rolling over onto its... something. Okay it was a full turn, probably its little potato stomach.

Overcome by maternal bloodlust, Muku doesn't know how to respond to this situation. Thumbs down, I didn't like getting eaten? Thumbs down, I was ok with being eaten? What did it mean? What did it mean?! And it knew her name. by name. How did it know her name? She stares at the soft underbelly of the beast. Clearly it was inviting her to do upon it a murder, for Muku had one it as a prize, a sweet, delicious egg to be broken and slurped. But eggs were not for slurping. They were for laying and protecting. Those sweet familiar eyes stared at her blankly.
Mmip's eyes.
"I will murder a god for you." Muku declares, deciding at once that this tiny insignificant being was worthy of her love and attention. She scritches the belly, hand lightly squeezing the malleable flesh of the sea potato. A pact is made and sworn. This creature would be hers until it hatches into a beautiful Starly; a Starly that would destroy the world. "I will see it done." She thinks.

Pressure on the creature's middle only served to cause it to repeat the crude noise, which was not unlike one Kursz made after eating eggs. Thankfully it lacked the smell. Also the white stuff came out a little again. It didn't seem to mind being handled, or having deicide sworn in its presence, but it turned its beady eyes back towards the water.
"Pyuku." The creature was smushy and a bit damp. Maybe it was a water egg.

"I understand you completely. Of course. You are soft and easily defeated by forces of air and sky. I know exactly what I must do."
The young girl rises from her place. She takes off her hat, unsealing the most dangerous hair in the world and unleashing it upon all assembled. The heavens watch in horror. The rivers run. The sea, not knowing what to think, continues as it was. Her hair is impeccable, as it always will and shall be. Her hat however, was about to regret life as she deliberately dips it into the sea water before returning back to her mushy companion. Gently, oh so gently, the murder girl picks up the tiny creature and places it into her hat.
"Better?" She asks. "It's not mud or anything, but it's better than nothing. I shall call you Mmip the 2nd for now. Or- no. Quip. For you have Mmips eyes, but Whoopie Goldsire's mushy skin body. It is a fitting name."

The water hat filled Quip with much joy! He squished about with much speed, wetly burbling and trumpeting his huge success, following the circular inside of the hat bowl. He also seemed to swell with water, becoming somehow rounder and squishier still. With his meager needs met, he considered Muku closely.
"Muku?"

Muku looks to the tiny creature before her in quiet, unspoken adoration. This pathetic creature pleased her. It knew her name and it was good. "Yes. That is I. Muku. Guardian to some. Protector of others. Antagonist to the wicked. I am on a quest, small squishy one, a quest to deliver a bird to a suitable afterlife before I too quit this place to go on to greater deeds of valor. For oh tiny Quip, there is a horrible bug monster with an obscenely sized snoot and overpowering musculature. It flexes horribly and lives to hurt others. I must awaken myself from dreaded sleep evermore to fight it, fight it and win for there are few others up to the task. It is destiny. It is my quest. A-and after that..."
She pauses. Frowns. "We're not going to talk about that. We're here to talk about you. I'd like to keep you safe for a bit. Because ah... You..." Her face grimaces, confused at her strange feelings towards the tiny creature. What were the words? What were the words for this? "I uh... I think you're cute? Look. You were just sitting there as another Pokémon tried to eat you. I'd like to keep you safe for a bit if you'd let me. Things are rough these days and apparently, I need companions. Maybe if I teach you how to fight like I fight, other Pokémon won't be able to pick on you so easily."

"Muku." Quip squeaked every time Muku said her own name. It responded with the rude noise at the idea it was ever in any danger, and used the appendage that made up its innards to pat her hair when she offered to protect it. It was sticky, why was it sticky?
Scooting to the edge of the hatbowl, it considered Talon with interest? Disinterest? A clear lack of understanding.

"Right, this is Talon." Muku replies, gently removing the viscous appendage from her hair before it was forever ruined. This creature clearly had forgotten everything it once knew about the circle of life, but that was fine. She continues without a beat, "Talon is my partner, my fi- No. Second. Third? Agh... They're my trusted partner. And it feels like we've been together for a while, him and I."
Gently, Muku pulls the blade from their sheathe. "I feel like... We've got the strongest bond out of all my team. Like they're the one who gets me the most. So I keep them close. And, and they help me. Without them, I don't think I could have accomplished much of anything. Talon's not just a name; they're my hand, my arm, my... Everything? That word's a bit strong, but that doesn't make it not true..."

"Pyew.". Quip folded himself half over the edge of the hat to consider the weapon, squishing the upper half of his body to and fro to take in the length of the sword, and Muku's arm. Crawling too far out, it plops across the flat of the blade, rolls along the sharp edge, and hits the ground with an unceremonious SPLAT and Thhbbbttt. He seems no worse for wear, and terribly unbothered.

Muku almost laughs. Almost. But the idea fades in her throat and becomes a soft smile instead. "If it's easier, you can ride around in this. Most of my Pokémon find them comfortable enough." She says, proffering the clumsy friend a Pokeball. "When we stop and get a second, I'll teach you a few things about the way I battle. I don't think you're my usual type of Pokemon, but I'd be really interested in seeing how had that weird tongue thing can be used in battle."

"Muku?". It considers the PokeBall with the same stillness it had shown in being consumed. It neither moves towards or away, but often repeats the name of its protector. Would Muku have liked to be in a ball? Have gone into a ball for someone? Muku.

Would she have liked being someone else's partner? No. No she would not. Muku was born wild; she wasn't meant to merely serve under some uncaring trainer's boot. She never understood why some Pokémon could look just so damn happy to be with some weird gangly human. There wasn't any strength there; just the lull of domestication. Of course, she knew Pokeballs made things easier. They were what enabled someone to carry a full fleet of Pokémon with them. A monster in your pocket. Power on command. You shouldn't be able to drag your ancient dreadwinged beasts into a building, but the technology of humans enabled that kind of strange, contradictory life-style.
How much of her own morals had she sacrificed by forcing the Pokeball on her own Pokémon? Not that they seemed unhappy; if nothing else, it helped keep them safe from harm. Protection beneath broad, burgeoning wings. But it wasn't for everyone. And it certainly wasn't for her.
"Alright. So you aren't looking for a contract. I get it. Before I leave this area, I'll drop you off." Muku says, flipping the ball back into her bag. "It'd be a bit too dangerous if I just tried to carry you everywhere. And frankly, I am going to need my hat back. But I can show you a few things in the meantime. I could use a break from walking anyways..."
(Muku is gonna spend a bit of time to 'train' this Pokémon. Mostly just to allow it to benefit from some of her Ace Trainer Features. Once they've spent an hour together, she'll carry on with the journey, carrying Quip in a hat.)

Quip is surprisingly sturdy for a creature with so much give to it. He seems to enjoy being handled too. As far as Muku can tell, all of Quip's limb are kept inside his body so other things can't eat them, and he mostly moves like a Caterpie. She remembers because of the very big one she ate with Xatu that one time. At the end of the hour, he points his sticky hand at her backpack, and makes a beckoning motion.

"I think I know what you're thinking. I don't think I want you in my bag." Muku says plainly. "Not that I don't care or anything like that, but I've got a few things in there I don't want to have slime on it. But I like where your head is at. Let me look here..."
Taking stock of herself, she tries to look for pockets. Sadly, her athletic leggings left no room for keys or wallets or anything really. Which was awful. Why would people design clothes like this? Muku was a Starly, and even she understood clothes needed to have pockets. But. But maaaybe... Muku throws open her coat to reveal an inner pocket, one perhaps large enough to carry a small creature. Probably not small creatures. It was probably to hold guns, she thinks. Guns? Muku did not understand the concept. Talon loops around her arm reasurringly. Muku did not need to understand the concept of gun. It was a better world that way. "Hey. How about this?" She asks, proffering the inner coat pocket to the creature. "I might need to moisten it up a bit, but I think I could deal with this if you can."

Pouring a little salty hat water into her coat pocket, Quip became Muku's first true Pocket Monster. He made a content rude noise as he settled into the dark humid space just for him and felt safe against the Starly's breast. Ahead, the road spiraled off into nothingness, wrapped around a column of sea, with rivulets crashing down over the odd rock formation, or forming a lake. Forward meant a lot more then it used to.

Ah yes. The mystery of forward. It wasn’t something she had to consider until the path she had been following disappeared into a veritable storm of water and rocks.
Now, what was she supposed to do with this? Was she supposed to go past this somehow? Probably. This wouldn’t be in her way it wasn’t meant to be surpassed. Probably. She didn’t need to understand, she just needed to do.
Tentatively, she kicks up a leg and tries to place it upon the rocks suspended. Rives could run ‘up’. Maybe she could run ‘up’ too?

Stepping up onto the unusual angle brought back sensations of flight, the ground beneath with a sense of weightlessness about Muku, with no great effort of her own. The rushing of water and the soft muffled 'Muku' from her pocket adding to the ambiance. Small birds flew in a corkscrew along the pillar of water between her and the above.

Sensory overload ensued the moment she felt her body ‘shift’ as she adhered to this brave new world of defying gravity. “Oh, this is disquieting. Don’t like this. Gonna have to deal though. Ooooh…”
It takes a minute before she calms enough for her to take the first step. And then another. She certainly HATED the fact that there were birds ahead, but mercifully she could be distracted by what should be an imminent thud when gravity finally rights itself and she hits the ground.
Somehow, that would be more of a mercy than accepting that she COULD walk up this pillar. Gravity, why couldn’t you still be respected? Whatever happened to your power? Poor gravity, poor Muku.
