As the two Pokemon fall, Muku confidently strides out onto the battle field to give Hornise a comforting pat. "As always, you did really good. Proud of you Hornise. I think from here, it'll be best if Mmip takes it. I can hold you in the wings if she needs help." She smirks quietly, surveying the damage before calling out to Mmip, "Alright. Your show now! Let's Leech Seed and see how long we can make this last!" Mmip Leech Seeds the target on a roll of 13, stealing a Tick of Damage each turn. Brutal Orders attached to her as she takes center stage.

A pair of bloodshot eyes snap open after the seeds have thoroughly buried themselves in the fossil's ancient hide. It gives an indignant shriek that shakes the whole of the cave and sends the observing rock types scurrying into hiding.

"Yeah. That's it. Knew you were strong. Now that there aren't any other distractions, let's have ourselves a fight. Mmip, keep up the pressure! Bob and weave! bob and weave!!" ...Unfortunately, Mmip takes this quite literally and fails to actually make any real headway on hitting with her attack. Mega Drain misses on a 2. Flutter!

Mmip swirls around the giant toothy mouth as icicle fangs crunch and shatter inches from her tiny body.

Dancing in the dark, Mmip continues the fight with more drains, for draining is all she now knows to do. AC 2, 16 to hit for 34 Special Grass Damage.

The Aerodactly takes a massive swing at Mmip with its wings, the windy blowback from the attempted strike enough to check Muku but doesn't harm the little seed one whit. (Windveiled activated.)

Muku leaps back upon her feet and catches her hat before it flies off into a chasm. Right. She really hadn't backed that far away from the battle. The trainer gives Hornise a wild smile as Mmip continues to dart about. "Bit. By bit. We're gonna get this one." She mutters. "Just a bit longer Mmip! One more hit, and let's close this up!" 12 Hit, 39 Special. It's still Mega Drain. Flutter!

With still another drain the bird settles onto the thick bones in its wings, a resting position as the other two had. There are a few gutteral noises between them. The Aerodactyl nods and makes a sweeping gesture of its wing along the crags, and cocks its head at Muku.
(Muku may choose any one Pokemon of the Rock type to accompany her on her journey that is not considered a legendary or an ultrabeast. It joins her party at level 35, and has either Physical or Special Ancient Power, plus two egg moves of choice.)

Mmip floats down underneath Muku's arm, glowing with joy and an overabundance of energy and power. If she could evolve, she would do so again, but the reality is she was just getting really pumped full of stolen energy. Mmip was living her best life and Muku was proud of her.
But for now she had a choice to make. She got the sense she could find almost any type of rock-type Pokémon here. Tall ones, strong ones, ones with unbreakable shells, ones with alien features, ones so old they might have seen the birth of the world. But in reality only one really caught her eye. "I think I want you to join me." She says, addressing the large, flying beast before her as she draws forth a plain red and white Pokéball. "I've seen you in battle and we've fought. Because of that, I trust you to have my back and I promise I'll do the same. Will you accept?"

The Aerodactyl rumbles it's assent and folds those wings in tight against its body. A living spire.
(Aerodactyl has Ice Fang as one of its two egg moves, and has a King's Rock as it's held item, and a Salty Snack/+Attack Berry Dumpling as a digestion buff.)

It only takes a moment, and the deal is sealed. Muku clutches the Pokéball to her chest, before releasing her new partner back out into the cave. "Ok. We've got this. Glad to be working with you, Monolith."
And with that, they were soon heading back up out to the surface. There was going to be a lot to do before tomorrow, training to get her new partner ready, helping out the town, eating. So much eating. If nothing else, feeding this monster of a beast was going to eat through her imaginary wallet. Because she had no money. At all.
Maybe she could rob the ice bird. Did ice birds have nice things? Black birds did that, so certainly that probably applied to fancy ass birds too. A problem for then, not now. "It's gonna be a long walk down to the shore. So like, if you want to fly a bit and stretch your wings, you can do that." Muku says off-handedly.

Monolith gives their wings a stretch and side-eyes Muku, the rain pounding up and down its body but seeming to mind neither that not the winds. Outstretching a wing, it brings upper body low in some manner of invitation.

"But we're not in the same egg group. And you're a guy." Muku states in utter confusion.
It takes a second, but she quickly realized the idiocy of her statement. Yeah no. Of course not. This had nothing to do with mating. But for the life of her, she couldn't figure out just what was being implied here. Ok. Lowered back and wings. Tired? Maybe? They had just had a battle. But by and large, she didn't see any lasting injuries that would mitigate flight. Hates the rain? Same, but he clearly didn't seem to mind so much. Then what was it?
Muku regresses back to fledglinghood. Worms good, Pidgeys bad. Too much regressing, little more forward. Right. There! A distant memory gets spat out of her brain. A stupid human riding a stupid little horse with a fire mane. The horse could barely stand. Neither could the human really. But they both seemed to get a kick out the tiny helpless human riding on top of the slightly less useless horse that could breathe fire. Which, eventually it did, and a tree caught on fire and Muku flew away before any problems could come from that. Fire horses bad. Worms still good. Pidgeys worse than fire horses.
Memories give way back to reality. She cocks her head to the side and covers her face with her hat. "No. Yeah. Please ignore that. That was stupid to say. What I mean to say is... You're offering me a ride, right?" She steps forward and places a hand on Monolith's side. Her heart beats deep in her chest. "I haven't... I haven't flown in a long... Long time. Are you ok with that? I might freak out a bit."

There is a wet, powerful snort and a heave of the Pokemon's shoulders as if to say 'If you die it isn't my problem.'. The creature swept Muku's legs with its neck and gave a few powerful flaps of its wings, not bothering to let her get properly situated before it was sailing into the wind, heedless of the world before it. There was definitely some bruising, but once Muku finally righted herself the knobs on the back of the creatures head seemed suitable handholds.

It had been a while.
But she had never gone this fast. Her hands hold on tight to the back of the Aerodactyl's neck protrusions. Her hat, hanging on by sheer pluck and vigor nearly flies off before she is able to secure it back in place with a free hand. This was flying. No, this soaring across the sky, kissing the horizon at breakneck speeds, feeling the sharp sting of rain as it shatters across one's face.
High up in the louds between the thundercracks and the swirling clouds, a mad tittering laughter could be heard. This was living, and Muku had been dead for a long time.

Up, and up, and up Monolith rose, over the dark clouds and their thunderous booms. Over the tearing winds, raging seas, and concerns of lesser mortals. Heat and light bathed them both as broad wings spread wide to glide above black clouds, bathed in the sun. The air was thin, but not unbearably so. If not for the sun, the air would have been frigid.
It was quiet, save the distant crash of the clouds and the rustle of the wind.

Above the clouds, Muku tears her head back and throws her face up against warmth of the sun. They were gliding now, gracefully so. A lot more gracefully than she ever could. As graceful as another bird she knew of. One with big wings and a giant comb atop their head. A strong bird, capable of defending what they loved while also valuing that time away from it.
"Let's... Let's stay up here. Just for a bit." She whispers. Her lips twist into a small grin. "Then... Then. Position me high above the docks. I'm gonna freak Chuck out."

Monolith gave a freeing screech in reply. There were few things that might make it to this grand height, for none boasted the wingspan of Muku's Partner. In the distance, something slithered, snaked it's way higher still, a bridge between the clouds and the stars. For how very small it was, a squiggly black thing, it must be imaginably large up close. Or nearer than one might think.

"Huh. That's one I've not seen before." Muku says, vaguely disconcerted that something so tiny could fly so high. And without wings either! "Well. It's probably just lost anyways. As long as it's breathing, it's probably fine. And if it's fine, then we're fine."

The squiggle gradually begins to move closer. The clouds break and scatter with its passing, a deep green body bearing fins every so often and a large head with pinchers along the front of it.
Monolith has stopped the gleeful screeching and has begun a steep descent as more of the details of the creature come to light.
