Kannon nods everyone farewell as they proceed to the elevator in Luna's hall. The door closes and Kannon hangs his head over the soup, shoulders dropped. "Paradiso is it... Is this really how you'll want to face me again?" He says, looking at his own frowned espression. The elite four and the three trainers take a ride to the basement of the palace via freight lift. After a couple of minutes light begins to rise from underneath the grid platform. From the monotonous and desolate mountain the palace sits on, they unveil a new area full of vegetation and splendor. This hallowed out space comes complete with a flowing river and hilly areas. "Woah! There's a grassland biome underneath the pokemon league!?" Vell shouts with excitement, he shifts his eyes to the reactions of the others, who continue to stare blankly ahead. "I had to paint the blue sky, or else it would've looked way too dreary." Sumi adds. "Without further adieu, this will be our battlegrounds for the Elite Four challenge! The name of the game is Capture the Flag! The rules are a piece of cake:"3 Pokemon will be placed in a 'fireteam' for the duration of CtF. A fireteam can be considered 'one' pokemon This fireteam will move as one using the average Speed as Initiative Mixing and matching trainers' pokemon is allowed The turn order will follow League standards When pokemon within the fireteam are moving, their initiative is as usual They cannot move more than 4 meters from another member of said team The trainers must capture the opposition's flag from their base and deliver it to theirs. To grab a flag is a standard action, to retrieve your team's dropped flag is a full action A retrieved flag will be teleported back to the base. For balancing, flying pokemon are restricted to 8 meters above land. The first to score 3 flags win Fainted pokemon will be carried out by Medical Chansey's, the pokemon will be healed in three rounds. All pokemon that come into the field must spawn from the team's drop point and must rendezvous to their fireteam. As you can see we try to give some variety to this landscape, being accessible to even water type pokemon. The group walks into a war room with an array of monitors split between two sides of the room. Being in a skybox, you have a great view of the surrounding area to command your fireteam efficiently. There is also a detailed replica of the map on each side for formulating battle plans. Runner: Floatzel
Luna's Team - 19 Blaziken Wobbuffet Roserade
Vell's Team - 34 Gliscor Noivern Archeops
Kaysal's Team - 19 Beheeym Reuniclus Absol
Sumi's Team - 21 Bastiodon Drifblim Maractus The prestigious trainers drop their pokemon in the field. Blaziken scrambles up a nearby hill as if he practiced it a million times. Jabbing the team's flag into the ground, the fireteam looks at the other side with pure confidence in their victory. 'Come and get it, if you can, that is' reads their expressions. Luna lets off a battle cry, engulfing half of the ceiling in her flames.

The three pokemon in the Ops team exchange a look, Gengar and Chance giving a grin to each others while Xander just reminds them to be careful.
After a moment, the three vanish from sight - Xander tunneling into the soft earth, Gengar melding fading into a faint shadow on the ground and Xander covering himself with an illusion to blend into the landscape - before moving forward, off to the side of the main group ready to step in or go past as needed.

The defending team send the flyers off with a wave before making preparations of their own. Bastiodon and Maractus enforce themselves while Drifblim scouts overhead. Blaziken's group scoffs at the team overhead gunning it to the enemies flag. From the top of the cliff the small figures coming towards their flag. "Whoever comes near us better take them down in a single strike! There'll be hell to pay if not, ain't that right Blakizen!" Her pokemon responds with a slow encroaching stance to the bridge. Bastiodon: Iron Defense Maractus: Cotton Guard Absol: Swords Dance Blaziken: Swords Dance

The vanguard runs down the hill, making good time. They intend to take the bridge, with Otto taking up a strategic position behind a nearby tree. Kowai does the same behind another tree, not wanting to get too close to the Absol. Ace lets loose a blast of blue energy across the river, taking a super-effective shot at the Blaziken before dashing behind the tree beside Otto. Aside from the Absol, the vanguard would be well equipped to take down the enemy assault.

"Okay, flying targets, pursue, deal with them." Sana cheers on her artillery team. The battle has begun for the artillery team. In the gust of strong wind Whimsy conjured, the cotton Pokemon flies to the edge of the river, with Noivern on sight, brings forth the power of lunacy in her, directing it as an energy ball at Noivern. Lucario follows suit, runs to the edge of the cliff, with one stomp, a sharp stalagmite rock stabs the weakened Noivern. Magni had its targeting system locked onto Floatzel. Clasping the magnet hands he has, he shoots lightning not at Floatzel, but onto the fake sky. Magnig then brings forth a strong thunder rumbles and slams straight at the sea weasel that cannot be dodged. Artillery team gets Inspired Training and Excited cheer.

Blaziken is struck from across the river. However he's knocked off his feet even with a guard up against the psychic damage. Blaziken's excitement falls after seeing no one across the river as he gets up.
The flying team engaged in a battle earlier than expected. With both super effective attacks coming towards Noivern, the other two fliers manage to intercept the attack.
Wobbuffet stands in front of the team while Roserade launches an attack at Cassie from behind him. Absol, Beheeym, and Reunclus take ownership of the bridge first. They scan for Ace who hid under the nearby trees.

"They are losing concentration, take out that Floatzel, we are gaining some leverage on them!" Sana cries out to cheer for her team, giving a more specific order to Lucario and Whimsy. "Lucario, intercept that Archeops! Whimsy, move Gliscor away and protect Magni!" She is taking a risk, by having Magni attacking Floatzel, the other flying team may intercept Magni, this is what Sana thinks. Still, something has to happen, and it's now. Magni hovers to Floatzel as lightning cracks in his magnet arms, blasting forth a lightning strike at the water weasel. "Bleeehhh!" Whimsy cries out in an annoying tone, looking at Gliscor, pointing her stump hand like flipping the bird to attract its attention. Yellow aura energy flows from Lucario, as he punches the air, strong energy homes towards Archeop. Artillery team gets Inspired Training cheer. Sana binds 2AP Sentinel Stance on Whimsy.

Cassie grunts for a moment at Roserade's attack before scanning the battlefied. She sees her goal - the flag at the opposite end, and quickly evaluates the defenses and the things between her and them. Nodding to herself, she dives down and swoops past Reuniclus, giving a caw of greeting as she draws her razor sharp talons across its side, carving a deep gash.

Reuniclus is cut thoroughly, causing her gelatinous exterior to scatter from the wound. "Oh dear, first your Beeyehem and now this. He might be luckier than you~" Sumi teases Kaysal, who stares at the screen absentmindedly. The boy who so confidently picked his own pokemon for a fireteam is the one closest to losing. Through opportunity, natural talent, and most importantly luck he was able to get where he's standing now. "Reuniclus!" Kaysal utters in a silent rage. The green molding stops midair and assimilates back into Reuniclus. With the recovered energy she shoots a beam into Otto before disengaging off the bridge and into the river below. Absol flings a psychic blade towards Ace which is spectacularly dodged! Kaysal releases Sumi's Carracosta who has a chance to attack since they are conveniently near the spawn point. However the Rock Slide is miscalculated and splashes into the waters. Luna grins at Kaysal's conviction. She wonders if its one to win, or to prove he's the most fitting to be blessed with good fortune. "This is the first time in a while my heart has pounded like this... Good! Blaziken pump up and take the lead back!"Using Wobbufett as cover, the blazing pokemon kicks the air with enough force to knock into Weavile. Kaysal Psychic Ace Feature: Psychic Resonance on Absol
Absol Shift: Disengage down bridge Standard Action: Psycho Cut on Ace (Miss)
Reuniclus Swift Action: Deft Death Standard Action: Signal Beam on Otto Shift: Disengage off bridge into river
Carracosta Shift Action: Left of spawn point Standard: Rock Slide on Ace (Miss)

In what was hopefully an unexpected move, Jace advanced the defensive line up to join the artillery. All of the pokemon were capable ranged attackers, meaning there was no way the flying-unit was going to get pas them. More to the point, the vanguard had run into a wall. After Otto goes down, it seemed like the trio was down to a duo. Two vs. six was not great odds.
All according to plan.
The Elite Four were funneling their non-flyers onto the bridge. Once the artillery and defense teams take out the air unit, they will be free to rejoin them. At the same time, the stealth team has flanked them completely. At this point, the Elite Four's spawn point and bridge have been turned into a death-trap. The vanguard just needs to hold the line a little bit longer.
"Now, open fire! Do not let a single one get past you!" At this signal, Kingdra let loose a bombardment of ice and wind, Diancie fired dazzling gemstones, and Tobias shot psychic energy. Ace and Cassie fired off attacks of their own, hoping to reduce the enemy vanguard's ranks.

Cassie hears Jace's command and twirls into a spinning dive at Absol, hitting him dead in the chest while also cawing out a signal to her hidden teammates.

Carracosta steps in between Absol and Cassie, taking the brunt of the damage. The hardened shell didn't seem to mind. Vell sends in Kayal's Swoobat who dashes towards Noivern. "Noivern, if you're to fall here then may your life scatter beautifully- like fire." Noivern uses his speed advantage to dash for the flag, but before that he tries to give the defense team a farewell present that is Draco Meteor. However is misses its mark. I really regret using Kaysal's team...Carracosta Intercept Maneuver
Swoobat Sprint Maneuver
Noivern Shifted Left Standard Action: Draco Meteor (miss)

Heeding Cassie's signal, Xander tunnels over and burst out from beneath the assembled Pokemon, ripping the ground up and sending it tumbling and roiling beneath their feet and sneding clumps of earth flying all around, all while Cassie flies above it casually. That done, he locks eyes with Absol and gives a menacing growl. Meanwhile, Gengar and Chance burst out of hiding, sending a pair of shadowy, ethereal blasts up at Drifloon, such that as it dodges the first, it flies right into the second. Xander:
Standard: Earthquake Swift: Intimidate on Absol
Gengar: Standard: Shadow Ball on Drifloon
Chance: Standard: Dark Pulse on Drifloon

Lucario rejects Noivern's farewell present, clasping his hands into a fist, he punches the air where he sees Noivern, his fighting spirit causes a deadlier stalagmite to pierce Noivern's wings.
Whimsy yelps in pain from having the ice beam freezing her body and her cotton. She responds in kind with her recharged sphere of lunacy directed at Floatzel.
Magnezone charges iron particles into his magnet hand, firing it in a charged energy of red ferrum and iron directed at Noivern.

The flag defenders finally met contact to her surprise. "So this is how you fight huh? You can be so SIIINFUL~" Sumi says in the midst of passion. After holding the line for so many rounds, the lively defense team starts off strong. Maractus slides down the 20ft mound with a flurry of leaves hoping to cut both Chance and Gengar.
Bastidon remains at the top. With a single stomp he generates enough power to erupt the wall near Gengar. Drifblim descends a bit to launch a shadowball. Hopefully the volley was enough to stop the Ops team in their tracks.
"Let's recount the scars I left on you"

Cassie bursts away from the two Pokemon in front of her, taking a couple of hits even as she sends a wave of darkness over Absol, before she dashes over and swoops low over the enemy defense team, scoring a couple of glancing blows. Cassie: Swift: Omen on Absol Shift: Move, provoking Attacks of Opportunity from Carracosta and Absol Standard: Night Slash on Maractus and Bastiodon

"Look at this mess, the enemy is at our doorstep! I'm sure they wouldn't mind a house visit themselves wouldn't you say, Zebstrika?"
Zebstrika hits the landing pad in full sprint. Swoobat takes a good look at Breloom, locking a future omen on him. Noivern swoops near Kingdra and Chance. The bat emits a turbulent noise with a single spreading of its wings.

Gengar hops backwards and sends another pulse of energy at Drifloon, while Xander and Chance send off bursts of stone and darkness that can't quite hit their enemies hard enough to hurt. Xander growls at the surrounding pokemon. Xander:
Standard: Stone Edge on Drifloon (Miss) Swift: Intimidate on Maractus
Gengar: Shift: Disengage 1 metre left Standard: Dark Pulse on Drifloon
Chance: Standard: Night Daze on Bastiodon (Miss)

"Push-through! We are gaining leverage!" Sana cheers on her teammates. Lucario gathers aura into his paws, runs to the path of the bridge while firing a sure hit fighting spirit at Noivern, fully intend to bring his rampage to an end. The strong wind on her side is about to petter out, Whimsy waves her hands, bringing a shiny day on the artificial land. Magni levitates to his nearest prey, his magnetic arms cracks with lightning, greeting Swoobat with its potent lightning to declare battle. Sana uses Don't Stop Now! on all allies. (All allies gain Excited cheer and gain +16 temporary HP)
Lucario uses Aura Sphere on Noivern.
Whimsy uses Sunny Day.
Magni uses Thunderbolt on Swoobat. (Noivern if it isn't fainted)
