For the first time since their showdown with Nadar, Jace was sweating. When they were nearly taken out by Roderick it was different. That was a sudden attack, there was no tension. This was different. The air between the two parties was electric. On his hands the sweat had coalesced into little ice crystals. Maybe half a second later he would have conjured an ice spear. They were on the brink of either their messiest victory or untimely demise.
Then Tully did something totally unexpected. He... didn't know what to say. It was not like him to be at a loss for words but here we are. Jace just sort of looked on as Satin had a mix between a monologue and a meltdown. At the end Jace wanted to say something. Maybe a witty jab or something a bit heroic. But as for another first he decided to not say anything. Avoiding this conflict was the most important thing right now. There would be time for theatrics later.

Seeing Jace and Sana stand with Tully makes Satin smile with malice as pure as the sun. Before him and most of his goons make an exit he waves the group a goodbye.
The crowd quietly resumes to their normal activity. The construction worker passes by, "I damn near crapped my pants. Nice save kiddo."
The timid train station attendant walks up to you. "Um..." She murmurs with difficulty.
"May I ask you to kindly... Walk away from here? When the train is ready to board I don't want any trouble with Satin and his crew. He was a lot meaner before the Vilani's arrive, but now it's packed up internally within him. It won't be pretty when he eventually blows up... Anywhere but here I pray."
"Oh, and enjoy your perpetual stay in Ico City!"

Tully snorts remaining silent until he's sure they're being unobserved.
After that, he turns to the others, keeping his voice down. "Nice sentiment, kid, but this is a city, not a jail cell. Ain't no walls forcin' us to any exit, so I'm guessin' there's probably some way outta here. Whadda you guys think?"

"Find a good job, buy a three bedroom apartment, and settle down. You made it out one time, I doubt a miracle will happen again. At least that's what I think..." A woman with a dark parasol blocks the moonlight. She approaches closer and her shape is revealed as the waitress from Flavor Without Logos.
She hovers the parasol over the three to block whatever despair is raining down. "My husband and I will open my doors to you always. The restaurant can be considered as neutral grounds. Feel free to use us for your next plans."

While this was not conventional wisdom, Jace thought that the idea of splitting up was their best one. If they could each sneak out in different ways, they would make pursuit all the harder. They would either need to commit to catching one of them, or split their manpower three ways. Not to mention they would get to choose the battleground. Unless they had burrowing pokemon, flying pokemon, and swimming pokemon, all of which that can see in the dark, they were going to be hard pressed to catch them. And the farther they got from the sphere of influence, the harder it would be for them to bring in reinforcements. Jace took the time to reaffirm his usual agility training with his pokemon, prepping them for either a marathon run or a sprint. Hopefully the former...

After a quick, private bit of planning, Tully is relatively confident in their chances - a three pronged approach of Jace going underground, Sana going airborne and Tully going underwater, each supported by the others' pokemon in case of problems. However, they had time before nightfall, so Tully went of to finish getting his pokemon tutored, trying to ready them for the task ahead.

The group rudely ignores the waitress as they walk to the move tutor. The chopped liver turns around with a puzzling expression and starts to walk back to the stop with tears in her eyes.
The group reaches their destination of the nearest move tutor in Ico City. The tutors were able to meet Tully's request fairly quickly and his pokemon came out smiling. "To your conditions we taught your pokemon some new tricks!" The tutor's smile moves out of alignment with a smug remark. "Heh, but don't think a few new moves can on Satin." It looks like news of your bout with Satin has gone viral throughout the city. People who once adverted their eyes now stare with anticipation, small remarks and jeers from the common people stab at your sides but it is all they can do, for now.
The three head over to an area only lit the the engulfing moon. Here, can can discuss their plan with no observers.
Roll Stealth and Perception to remain hidden, and uncover anyone hidden.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_usif5iO4cThe gang's exit strategy comes to execution phase! Jace digs beneath the streets of Ico City. He finds a large patch of land used for growing berries. No one can see you from afar under the shroud of berry trees. Nidoking and Xander move through the earth as if it were a ball play pen. You have to stand back a bit to not get dirt splatted over your clothes as both Pokemon look like they're having a friendly competition. The newly crafted caves are wide enough to have a leisurely walk through. "Digging your way through the city? I would not think you would be the destructive type, Jace Synod." A voice appears from the tunnel's entrance. You can't really tell his features as the light shines behind him, but his voice is muffled by a mask. "The other two took ways more advantageous in case of an attacker." When he turns to the entrance, you the emblem on the back of his trenchcoat illuminate. Something indistinguishable from the man himself crawls out of that emblem. The entity leaps out from behind the man and straightens its jacket. They greet one another with a nod and turn back to Jace. "Return the Masterball to Paradiso. I'll excuse what you've done to Zed, no one has to know but us." One of the silhouettes demands

"That depends on your perspective. One might see the digging of a tunnel an act of creation," Jace quips. He indicates that the digging pokemon should come up and join him. They could try running, but Jace figures that this person was sent specifically because he can dig. "You're barking up the wrong tree anyway, I don't have the ball." Jace was keeping up the story that Tully had the ball. With any luck, the fact that this guy was here meant that Tully was long gone.
"As for your last point, that's because I won't shy away from a fight," Jace says as the pokemon accompanying him stand between him and this challenger. "So if you think that I am trapped in here with you, I will happily show you where you went wrong."

"Then have at thee!" One of the figures opens their hand past Jace and shoots sheets of Ice behind the trainer. The other clasps his hand together and sets up interwoven barriers to the side of the ice walls. Doing so effectively makes the barricade wide enough to stop Nidoking and Xander in their tracks before they can stand with Jace.

Ice, that was just great. The Ground-types were in deep trouble here. Fortunately for Jace, he didn't need to fight with Nidoking. In fact, that would be a major misplay. If Nidoking was knocked out, he couldn't dig the tunnel. Fortunately, his opponent was kind enough to isolate Nidoking off, keeping him safe. I'm going to have to stick it out on my own for now.
"Xander, Dig your way over here!" Jace reached for his belt of Pokeballs. As he learned in the last gym, Ice-types were no problem for his roster. But he wasn't as fast as the masked men...
Jace Init: 16 Xander Init: 19 (23 this round because Jace gives him Agility Orders) Jace's 2nd Pokemon: (Higher than 20)
Xander uses Dig on his turn. Jace will send out his second pokemon on his turn, but he is slower than the masked men. He is using Focused Command, so the pokemon he sends out will act on his turn.

Both men run over to apprehend Jace before Xander emerges within the tunnel. Learning from the last few battles, Jace easily spots this can avoids a physical confrontation.

Nimbly avoiding the grapples, Jace flings Lucario's Pokeball to his side. Having been though a lot of tough fights lately, Lucario's aura immediately flares to life the moment he leaves the ball. He barrages the masked man in front of him (which Jace tactically chose to be the Ice one) with both Fighting and Rock blasts. Behind them, Xander bursts from the ground. Now it was the masked men who were trapped. Jace stood his ground, helping to provide Xander flanking.

The elastic quality of the Rorschach mask proves it's worth as the psychic wielder looks down at his injured comrade. He picks up his jaw and prepares the next move. "Hmph, I see how Zed and Roderick lost. Perhaps we got overconfident." He says as pressing the mark on the Ice user's back creates a glow like before.
"My advice, keep holding onto that ball. We'll snatch it up when you least expect it." He descends into the man's back as if he were on a staircase. Though Jace had seen a lot of weird things on the journey, this should at least raise an eyebrow. The masked man leaves him with one more saying, "Be weary of the real monsters."

Jace makes his way somewhere in the outskirts of Ico City and eventually finds his way to Ruby and soon Tully. Kowai drifts back to Ruby's side. A familiar sense of wholesomeness, with a hint of anxiety fills her chest. The ghost chuckles as he returns to the seat of the owner's soul.
The road is lit with streetlamps and the ever shining moon. Now out of the fire that is Satin's trap, the group continues on the steady and absolute path to Santa Ou...

The next morning...The trainers arrive in Santa Ou town for their next challenge! After their lone expedition to escape Ico City, a downpour gladly accompanies them the rest of the way. What lies before you is a much brighter atmosphere than Ico. Storefronts line the curbs, street vendors of small trinkets kindly greet passersby with hope that someone listens despite the weather. Children playing martial arts are heard from beyond the alleyways; the rain doesn't slow them down one bit. You ask for the directions to the gym leader, Hizaki Ryuzo, who is also the chief instructor of the town's dojo. Along the cobblestone road you find a digital voice recorder abandoned. You examine the device and notice it has been through some rough years. The labels on the buttons are worn, the screen is heavily scratched yet readable. Displaying is a couple of records taken around... 19 years ago. Maybe it's the rain, but the first one plays without notice. You walk as as the recording talks. The voice of a women, foreign accent, quite knowledgeable. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxnIODgNOtkDr. Anastasia Lohengramm Log 1 08/07/****Over the last 4 years we have finally made a breakthrough in the mysteries behind the relationship between Elemental Connection and Humanity. There are still so many open ended questions but we hope to bring one to a close today. As we know, many people born with an element has something 'supplemental' in their body. Maelstroms with their gills, Flamebringers with their gas sacks, Psychics with a complex brain structure near the cerebellum *sigh*. And the list goes on. What of us 'normal' humans? Are we counted as a type? Can we ever acquire a type? Today with our willing patient, I will show the world it is possible for normal humans get a type via operation. This surgery will forcibly re-engineer the human body to survive the transplant of an organ used by an elemental. Do note this is only when their DNA aligns the designated element. Our studies have shown that Electric users and the pokemon Elektross share a similar organ design. We will insert the electric organ of its pre-evolution, Eletrik near the appendix of our young patient. After the operations completion and the patient's health stabilizes, we will test her ability to generate electricity. *knocking on glass* Mommy, I'm scared...------------------------------------------ The recording goes on, but you are nearing the steel doors of the gym. Things are eerily quiet for a gym/dojo hybrid. Roars of thunder surrounds the town and at the same time you open the doors to a gruesome scene. The students bodies of the dojo litter the floor. Their belts come in every color of the rainbow, but you see more red than any other. The walls are riddled with gashes and bullet holes. Your eyes are unable to advert such wanton destruction. Some muster up the remaining strength to ward you away. Across the dojo a lone woman emerges from the back room dragging the instructor, Hizaki, like a recently neutered dog. She moves the blonde hair out of her face and a familiar name of Paradiso rattles from the depths. The recording turns off with parting words. "It will be over soon. Fight well, Natasha."
