"Okay," he says, nodding. "Thank... thank you. It means a lot."
When the officer arrives, he points towards where he'd left the bug with its food. "There," is all that he says.

"Time to go, time to go! In the boat, get the chain! In the boat, get the chain, get the chain in the boat chain boat chain!" Muku whispers furiously. In the whatever time that it takes Terra to react, Muku finally gets to rise up and attend to her side of the problem. She reaches up immediately to work the clip, a task frustrated by the fact that one of her hands was now a full length sword. Alternatively, her arm was now a full length sword.
She points the sword Pokémon at the clip and takes aim. "Ok. See that Talon? Just like practiced. Cut, no, stab! Stab, stab, stab!!"

The fabric tearing and being split, Terra began to move once the the inside was revealed. A slight wariness at the impact from Muku falling into it. The lights catching her attention before scrambling with an urgency.
"I'm moving. I'm moving!" Terra growled with a slight grimace at the repeated words. Without her own sword pokemon, she instead started to work at releasing the hook end of the chain. Hopefully this worked!

"Thank you, I'll just be a moment." It is not, in fact a moment. The Joltik becomes an incredible handful for the officer. After paralyzing his hound and slinging itself around the room on silken lines, it eventually has to be aggressively herded into the carrier, where it repeats 'no' and 'scared' even as the officer is latching it shut. This may have taken the six of you barring exits and making grabs for the critter. No one wanted to hurt it after all.
"Never seen a Pokemon wired for voice before..." He slid his hat off to wipe his brow. "Courtney you'll both be coming back to the station? I know it's late." "We will, thank you Officer." Despite being a masculine figure, he's addressed by title and seems to have Courtney's respect by her demeanor. There is a name printed across the lapel of his pressed uniform 'Winston'. Being of a more tanned complexion, dark hair, and dark eyes, other then an athletic build there doesn't seem to be anything striking about him.
Terra manages to unhook one end of the lifeboat. On the other side, Talon's blue eye flashed with an inner fire. Giving a whirl, it splits the clip and chain all in one swing, freeing the back end of the lifeboat. With the front end still attached. With the boat's full weight on the front chain the world takes a light quality as the ground drops out from under Muku, and Terra has to cling to the bow to avoid the same fate.
(Muku needs to make an Acrobatics to stick the landing, or an Athletics to cling to the side of the ship.)

"I feel so bad for it, cooped up and all like that..." Thel says. He sort of just... awkwardly shuffles around. "I'll just... grab my bad. And my other Pokémon. I just feel safer going out at night with that stuff..." Granted, Bliss is still probably completely exhausted, but, better to have her with him.
This unknown thing with the questioning worries him a little, too. But... Courtney said it was fine, so it will be. Probably. He's pretty sure. He hopes at least.

An aerial Muku knows no fear. In the instant the strike lands, Muku flings out her arms and attempts to fly on the air, keeping her balance even as the world shifted and changed around her. She was one with the air, the nature, the fire. She is bird, kiyiyiyyiyyaaah!!! Rolled a 20 on the Acrobatics Check!

There was a proud expression on Terra's face when she got the hook undone. Until the sound of chain breaking and suddenly the solid item left its place beneath her. The face changing to one of panic. "Hell! Hell! Hell!" she called out, hands searching for a solid place to hold onto. The girl disliking this experience very verbally.

"You can keep her company as best you're able until the guys at the lab do what they can to sort the tech off of it. We'll have to call a medical official in on this too. Don't get many cases of Pokemon abuse that look this extreme. Still, if it can complain I'd say it's pretty healthy." "No." Replied the Joltik, though it had been intermittent enough it could have just been timing.
With the trio heading through Goldenrod, the quiet held, surprisingly. The station wasn't far from Courtney's place, nor was the questioning procedure anything overly difficult, just requiring Thel to recount the events as he had experienced them.
Terra landed roughly in the bottom of the boat, with Muku performing an impressive aerial feat and landing on her bench seat with feet spread, sword arm boldly forward. The little boat didn't move. There were paddles in it, and a big black thing on the back that probably did stuff.
(Tech Edu or Gen Edu please.)

Thel's glad for the quiet. After the day, he just wants to sleep, and rest, and have it be over with. Then maybe things get to be better...
He does his best to recount the events since they'd gotten to the city. Going to the Gym, then shopping and getting separated, going to the game corner and then everything going all crazy from there... the woman trying to stop them from getting to Muku, then Muku running off after Terra... recounting it again is just exhausting.

"Charge!" Muku cries, brandishing her sword out at the ocean with menace as if to threaten the mighty blue beast. One problem with that. They weren't moving. With an utterly confused look on her face, she stares back to Terra and then at the strange wood sticks and the black device on the back of the ship before admitting plaintively. "I don't think I know how to make the boat work."Technology Edu! Maybe?! LIFs|M7o1d6 1d6

Not moving. Why aren't they moving? Terra looks around and frowns. Grabbing a pokeball she releases Splash onto their get away boat. "Maybe our swimmers could help us get moving?" she asks. Whether its them giving the boat a push or pull... Its better than nothing right? Terra's Tech Roll: 7. (Someone forgot what their dice count for untrained)

In the same room Thel is answering questions, Courtney, Joy, and an officer with a mask and a series of small tools have been tending the now sleeping Joltik. Opening the container across its back, they remove a vial of red liquid. With surgical precision a few wires are snipped here and there. When it is all said and done, they close the mechanical housing back up.
"I'll need to wait for morning to release the little lady back into your custody, or we can set her on her way at the daycare or another rescue facility."
Terra remembers a lot of grabby pully and twisty things from the bridge of the big boat. Grabbing what passes for a handle, she gives it a yank. "Rrrrrr..." Growls the motor. Two or three more, faster, and faster, and it roars to life. A twist on the handle and it is off, bow lifting up out of the water. Behind her, she can hear calls of "BRO!" The sight and sound of dozens of Pokemon being set into the water a great cause for concern.

"I... see," Thel says, yawning. Waiting has not been good at helping him stay alert. "Well, uh, I... don't know if I would be the best person for this..." he admits. "I want to make sure she's taken care of... but there was the whole thing of how she was after me in the first place. Trying to get my blood..."

It took a moment or two for her to remember why the thing looked somewhat familiar. Once the sound of the thing roaring to life, the kick of its motor lifting the bow brought out a cry of success and surprise. "Muku. Which way's the land?!" Terra calls out to the other, more attention on learning how to control the way the boat moved. Get out fast. Don't want to be caught again. They have to get away from the pokemon.

“Towards the light!” Muku cries, thrusting Talon into the air and posing like George Washington crossing the Potomac. Except that he likely doesn’t exist in this world which perhaps causes a minor crisis in the mind of a certain Kantonese Gym Leader. This was not Muku’s problem. She was more focused on looking cool and right now? She was killing it.
The lighthouse was such a long ways off. But, if they could hold it together, then maybe, just maybe they could pull this off! It was all smooth sailing from here on!

"Thing is, we've disabled the listening device, camera, and most of the externals that were wired into her body. It isn't likely she will miss any of that. We'll also be decoupling her from the ball she is coded to. We left the voice box alone, she seems to enjoy being able to communicate." At this there was a distant robotic "No." And the sound of the attending clerk getting very frustrated with the word.
"Pokemon mostly do as they are told, I am sure she didn't mean to hurt you if you want to discuss it with her."
Terra giving the boat everything it's got is enough to outpace all but the fastest pokemon, a wake ripping the water open to one side of the boat, curving outward and then beelining for the side of the boat. A flash from the lighthouse reveals the sharp outline of a din jutting free of the water.
Only to be gone the next time it passes.
"I would have taken care of you! Given you a place and a people!" Archie howled across the breaking surf. "Now we do this the hard way!"

"I don't want to pressure her now," Thel says, not feeling so great at the 'mostly do as they're told.' That's not at all how he wants to be, and that's the kind of mentality that he worries about. He brings himself down to the Joltik's level. "Okay, I'll be back tomorrow," he says. "Take some time to think, and sleep, and just rest up. If you want to come with me, that's fine. If you don't no hard feelings." He brings a little bit left of the remaining food, and gives it to the spider, leaning in close, and quietly whispering, "If you want to come with me and then leave, that's fine, too." He doesn't like the idea of it just being... passed around, with no input from it.

"Freeeee bird!!" Muku screams out in response.
Air whipped through her hair wildly. Her heart was beating with anticipation. With her talon in hand, she was ready to go down fighting. With a stagger she leans down into her bag and begins putting on the various accoutrement of sporting pads she called her armor.
Rough seas ahead.

This was exhilarating in a way. A mix of terror and delight at figuring out the motor allowing them to head out so fast! Very fast, much faster than she's gone before. As human or pokemon. The passing light being her guide to lead them to land.
"Splash, be prepared!" Terra states in a quick tone at the fin vanishing and Archie's voice carrying over the waves. The pokemon watching the water split around their little boat. The girl was ready to put up a fight. They had been fed, and had time to recover. An error on the Aqua's part.
Terra thought Aqua was better than the Rockets for sure, and from what Muku said, better than Magma. But still, she needed to get back to her pokemon, and did not like being told she had to stay.

Rolling the piece of food under its tiny body, the Joltik hunkered over it and watched Thel with her big blue eyes. "Unsure." The Pokemon answers after a significant pause, as though the two syllable word were more difficult to rout then the others it had used. Her eyes didn't leave Thel until he was physically out of view. After a police escort back to Courtney's place, with a guard posted on site, the exhausted boy and his hostess finally find some measure of rest, sleep coming on heavy and hard. Darkness took its due, a dreamless exhausted sleep.
What followed and unfolded was the stuff of nightmares. Terra gave the boat all the speed and power the motor had, the massive bullet shaped Pokemon rocketing through the air towards their boat broadside. Terra's sharp eyes met with Archie's partner, which smouldered with an uncontained loathing as it smashed cleanly through the outboard, tearing the handle from the girl's hand. The engine sputtered and bounced in the surf before releasing a choking bubbling and disappearing beneath the waves. The mount where it had rested now horrifically mangled.
It had been a warning shot.
The second was not so kind. The floor of the boat peeled inward over the water Pokemon's nose, surf and debris following it as it sheared through the vessel with enough force to set the boarded parties and debris into an unforgiving ocean. Pain, cold and wet. A numb ringing, and the distant flash of a haven too far.
Chapter End.
