Even in the heat, Cole was wearing both of his usual layers. Since the falls he hadn't really felt temperature the same. Everything was hot all the time so there wasn't really a need to wear as much as he did. But at the same time he felt like it would be weird to change how he looked...It was something he would have to think about as he watched his companions strip down layers. Next to him was Chicory, the golem seeming at home in the desert. The pair sort of looked around as Cole thought about saying something about the temperature before deciding against it. He didn't really wanna bring more attention to it. Quietly he pulled off his outer jacket and slid it into his bag, with only the light colored hoody left on. Cole gets a 9 and Chicory gets a 10 on Perception

Six's height makes him a beacon in the desert... but it also affords him a grand field of view when not trying to keep his balance in the treacherous sands. And with that view he motions out a bit of a warning, making a noise and swaying towards a far dune. Initially, there doesn't seem to be anything there... but peering closer to where's indicated reveals several figures, semi-camouflaged against the sand. It's hard to tell how many, but probably at least a dozen lizard-y Pokémon are able to be made out. Some are crocodilian, with a black band around the eyes. Others look to have some red on their bodies, their skin almost seeming to not fit tight.
Seemingly noticing in turn that they'd been noticed, the red-bellied lizards vault onto the crocodiles, who begin to almost swim through the sand towards the trio and their Pokémon.

Seeing the impromptu 'banditos' come rolling in, Theodore can't help but laugh until he's in tears. He knows full well the intent isn't a courtesy welcome wagon, but that is just the perfect mix of adorable and silly that he's beyond tickled about it. Six's neck bows just a little, the exeggutor's heads scrutinizing their trainer. He didn't look to be in pain, several of the faces casting different judgements.
Or that was just their normal expression.
(Theodore and Six both act on 5)

Kai took a double take at the sight before him. He really got why Theo was laughing, but he was a bit concerned getting Coronet out. Ah there they were! He pulled them off his belt and released the fairy fox right beside him. "Sorry 'bout the heat, you can go back in once we deal with them"The fox seemed to huff, glaring at the ground rather than the incoming fight. The sand certainly didn't go with their icy fur. Son of a.....Cole swore to himself as he pointed Chicory towards them " Alright Chicory, be extra careful here. This isn't really a good match up for you, but honestly it would go poorly for any of the team today" He continued to swear under his breath about how he hated the sand, how it was coarse and got everywhere, and how he had hoped to just run into those desert plants that T was talking about. He could fight plants. Cole moves on 6 and Chicory moves on 10

As the riders approach, more and more emerge from the sands, probably around three dozen of each. The gators look hungry, while the 'mon riding them seem more angry than anything. You get the feeling that this is probably their turf, and one way or another, they're going to make sure you're not going to bother them any more. The posse crests the dune in front of the Trainers, and flows down towards the group like a flood after a desert rain. Except this flood's made of teeth and fists. Map

That's a lot of mon, Kai is pretty sure he doesn't want to get anywhere near himself, but Coronet needs to get in there and try to take out as much as they can fast. "Alright, Keep your attention on the enemies Coro!"The Ninetales dashes up when Kai helps it focus on something, it gives out a yip, twirling once as it stopped next to the large group, sparkling brightly before shining a mystical pink ray into the swarm. The burst of light cuts a swathe through the Dark-Typed foes, as the bright energy sears them deeply. About a third of their numbers seems to be depleted as they swarm forwards, the Krokoroks biting into the Ninetales with fangs of fire, sizzling sparks igniting the fox's fur. Ninetales hits with Dazzling Gleam. Krokoroks lose a Swarm Point. Scraggy lose a Swarm Point. It's super effective! Ninetales takes 43 damage, 2 injuries, and is burned from Fire Fang.

" Alright Chicory, I guess go punch them or something" Cole was a little deflated. This really really wasn't a good match up for him, but he hoped the little golems fists would be able to do the talking for him. Chicory took a few steps forward before stopping in place and staring at the mass of enemies. It reared back one of its arms as if it was going to punch, and then retracted all of its limbs and collapsed into a ball on the ground. Cole winced for a second before trying to play it off "I mean curl up and raise your defenses! Good call Chicory" Chicory uses Defense Curl and raises his defense one stage and lowers Coles Pride by 2 stages
Cole passes his turn in shame

The gators press their advantage, slashing at Coronet in a flurry of teeth and claws, slowly making their way towards the other meat sources around, too. Fortunately for the fox, it's resistant to such underhanded techniques, and is able to nimbly avoid much of them. Coronet takes 24 damage from Assurance. The Krokorok Swarm Disengages.

"Oh, aight they aren't so cute and funny when they get going." Theodore was still cracking a half smile, and glanced up at Six. "Hey buddy, you want to practice that new arc shot? I'll try to get a catch in, in the meanwhile."
Theodore binds Trick Shot on Six as a swift action, shifts closer to the swarm and looses a Pokeball at it. (11 ToHit, 89 Capture Check).
Six lets out an affirmative bellow that carries across the dunes, a sphere of light gathering in his crown. The long neck of the dragon pokemon arches backwards, and looses it high into the air, disappearing against the sun. It plummets like a stone after that, landing amidst the horde of Pokemon and detonating impressively in a wave of sand and grit.

The explosion wipes out a good chunk of the still active Pokémon, leaving just a handful running around. Theo manages to tag one, at least. The Scraggy don't seem to be that coordinated anymore, riding around on the frankly furious and writhing Krokorok that remain, but not being very successful at attacking the fox right next to them. They make a valiant effort, though, even if it's not enough. Both Swarms lose a swarm point from Egg Bomb. Krokorok gain +6 Attack CS from Anger Point. Theo hits with his Pokéball, and'll get a Scraggy at the end. Scraggy miss with Brick Break. Scraggy miss with Low Sweep.

"Come on Coro, freeze them solid and end this!" Well, Kai hoped it ended it, if not he would look pretty foolish. Coronet was still spinning from dodging all the attacks earlier, finally oriented itself and shot off a blast of snow from it's tails, frost covering the targets. The desert quickly falls quiet, snow briefly blanketing the ground before steaming away on the hot sands. The bodies of the swarm of Pokémon are laying there, as is the ball of the one that Theo caught. Thankfully, nobody was that hurt, and there doesn't appear to be much else moving around. You caught a Scraggy! Level: 25 Gender: Male Nature: Proud Moves: Acid Spray, Brick Break, Payback, Low Kick, Feint Attack, Dragon Dance Abilities: Moxie, Intimidate Everyone gains 300 EXP from that.

"Welcome to the posse, Butch Cassidy." Theodore chuckled to himself as he collected the Pokeball. "Man who would have thought gwo really different kinds of Pokemon would be working together like that, that's really cool!" Cole and Kai seemed alright, even if their Pokemon were a bit roughed up.
"Been thinking fellers, ain't right of me to always be sitting at the back." He rolled the ball slowly in his palm, considering it. "Figure maybe I should get some good protectors together, or a strong front line. Fred does a pretty good job, Earp ain't built for taking hits but has to be in the thick of it too..." The teenager trailed off, thinking on his Pokemon.

"Uh, I mean... I wouldn't call them really different pokemon" Kai was mumbling a bit, mostly looking Coro over to see how bad it was. "They're both dark types, pretty sure" He let out a small click sound as he returned the Fox, it'd be dangerous to use Coronet again in the desert.
"Well, Coro's out, as for defensive Pokemon, Well, I have one I just left it in the box. I prefer to hit hard and fast, but if you wanna start bulking your team up, go for it man."

He blinked and it was over. Cole just sort of stood there for a few seconds after the fighting was over. Literally all he had done was flounder at telling Chicory what to do, because the match up was bad. The hallmark of a good trainer was making any match up work in their favor, rolling with the punches, and he just froze. All of those mon that were attacking them and he did nothing against them.
Snapping himself out of it he looked at Theodore and sort of shrugged "I mean most of the time when we win it's because you stay in the back and focus on taking the enemies out. It's sort of like 'if it ain't broke, why fix it' but also, you do you. I won't stop you even if I don't really get it"

The trio moves on from the ambush, and continues trudging through the sands. Thankfully, the sweltering heat begins to lessen as the sun eventually makes its descent down beneath the horizon, turning into a chill as night falls beneath the cloudless sky.
There's not too much cover in the wide open lands, beyond the sand dunes. A small cluster of rocks is off in one direction, and it looks like there may be a cave to shelter in by the mountains that they need to traverse by in order to get into the deep desert. Regardless of their choice - or even just being in the open desert - if they set up camp for the night, it would probably be prudent to set a watch rotation. The desert is dangerous, after all.

"C'mon fellers, may as well hunker in them there caves for tonight. Keeps us from waking up covered in a drift, er getting blasted with a sandstorm. I'll keep first watch, don't want no repeat of the night robbery." Theodore headed for the caves in the mountain face to take shelter for the night.

The group heads towards the caves, keeping watch for anything around. There are shifting figures at the edges of their vision, but nothing seems concrete. Nothing leaps out at them, nor stays in one spot long enough for them to pinpoint. It's clear, though, that they are not alone.
The caves, too, feel rather foreboding. Sounds echo around, but it's hard to tell exactly from what or where they're coming from. Picking a cave large enough for the group, they begin setting up camp. As they do so, the noises start up again... and from the sounds of it, it seems that there may be some of it coming from deeper within the cave they've chosen. It sounds mournful, like wailing, full of melancholy. It's not getting closer, though... so, maybe one could manage to get some sleep with the noises about.
