Sam nods, somewhat uncertain, "While I'm not looking forward to Leila battling again, wouldn't the use of Repels mean that if we do face anything, they'll be even stronger than that Ekans was?
"I mean, they'd have to be stronger than your Tauros to fight past whatever effect it has, wouldn't they?"
He projects, privately, to Wally to add, 'I've never actually seen those used, have you?'
He pauses as an idea strikes him, "Would it be okay if we scanned your Tauros into our PokéDexes, Sir? If it's in the Field Egg Group, maybe we can come to an agreement with you getting a few Eggs if I can keep..." He glances at the entry for Eevee, "Eight? When all's settled, that is."

Daniel Oat: Sure thing, boy! You'll see my Buford momentarily! But you'd better toughen that Eevee up before you get to the other part, 'cause he ain't exactly light and gentle, if you catch my drift...
...Um, yikes; that came out wrong. I mean, I know this because I've seen him with other Pokemon!

Wally nods yes in reply to Sam's projected question, but doesn't speak yet in case now isn't the right time.
At the prospect of getting to scan a Tauros, Wally gets his Pokédex out, excited to see the large Pokémon up close.

Daniel Oat: Let's wait until we get down to the mine. I don't want to take such a big aggressive Pokemon out here in town! Let's get on down Polk Pond Road!

Sam frowns, and sends a pointed projection the man's way, as he knows Pokémon Breeding should be a physical affair, 'Perhaps I'll seek a better mater for Leila if your...Buford can't control himself in non-combat situations, Professor.'
He follows the group back the way they just came.

Professor Oat, Sam, and Wally head back into town, and enter the Mart. drive.google.com/file/d/1nt_NksMXzNey0Wn-pBAFs4Utv4sEXfSo/view?usp=sharingThe clerk's face lights up a bit as she sees the two rubies that Oat places on the counter. Daniel Oat: Yesiree; there still is some nice swag available in that mine, for any willing to brave the zubat hordes. How much do you reckon this is worth? Clerk: I can pay you 3300 for each of them. Daniel Oat: Wow; that's 6600 altogether--meaning we three can split it into even shares of 2200. That sound good to you dudes? [ OOC: DJW, a quick question; have you been editing your sheet to keep track of Poke Balls used up? I took a look and I'm bit unsure.]

Wally: Sounds perfectly fair to me,. But just give me back $1,200 and five Poké Balls, please.
[OOC: No, I was letting you handle that, but I did bring my total back up from 1 to 3 to account for the balls that Sam owed Wally. His most recent failure lowered it down to 2, and then buying five more should currently have him at 7, so I'll mark that now, but you can lower the number in the future if you want and I'll leave it alone. On the subject of "failures", can you tell me if the failure was in the ball throw or in the ball staying shut? If the failure is in the throw, Wally can recover those missed Poké Balls.]

[OOC: Alright, so to address these things in order, I'm fine with you taking the balls Sam owed, but next time, please tell me ahead of time so I can edit his sheet at the time, too. Also, should Sam now have 2 balls left?
As to whether your balls missed or they broke, I'm not sure I can answer that, because the GM guide doesn't give any guidelines. The rules don't state whether a ball misses or breaks; just whether it succeeds or fails.]

[OOC: Oh, okay, got it. I must be getting PTA confused with PTU. In PTU, first you have to make something like an accuracy check to even make sure that your aim was good when throwing the ball. Then, if your aim was good, you make the roll to see if the Pokémon breaks free of the ball (destroying it) or if it is captured. PTA must not bother with that first roll, which I think is actually a good thing. Even if the Trainer gets the ball in the general area of the Pokémon to be captured, the capture stream should be able to fire out and take things from there, so I definitely like PTA's approach better. So from now on if you say the capture failed, I'll assume the ball was destroyed.
Sorry for not being more clear about taking Poké Balls from Sam. I mentioned it in-character in one of my posts, but I didn't make an actual OOC message detailing it. As far as how many he should have left, I'm not sure. I forget how many he began with, how many he bought, and then how many he used after that. But, yes, Wally only took 2 from him.]

Sam: I will buy 3 potions and also 3 basic balls.
Just then a policewoman comes in:
Policewoman: I want to warn everyone in town that we've had reports of bandits inhabiting the road linking Spike Weed and Ratoon. Teams have been dispatched to investigate, but meanwhile, we recommend civilians not go that way.

Wally: Uh oh. Looks like we can't leave town for a while. Well, that's okay, I guess. Our next goal is to catch a Water-type at the pond, right?

Sam: Sounds like a good idea. drive.google.com/file/d/1IJWsElssJMPP-NN9lp5QO45Vwz8l2bdj/view?usp=sharingWhen they get outside, he uses a potion to heal up his new Zubat. Daniel Oat: Nice hanging with you guys, but I've got to go home and get to my work now; at least for a bit. Sam: Well; see you soon! Ready to go catch some water Pokemon? [ OOC: I apologize for not much happening today; I haven't been feeling well.]

[ OOC: DJW, I want to remind you that Wally leveled up in the mine. You need to purchase a feature unless you have "Hey Guys, Watch This".] Just then, Ponce (the Fisherman they met earlier) walks by. Ponce: Hey folks; I heard you wanna go fishing in that pond! You got any rods? Sam: Hmm; now that you mention it, no! You'd think they'd sell them in that store, but I guess not! Ponce: Well, I do have a rod, and I'm always down for a good fishing session with pals! Sam: You'd do that for us? Ponce: Well; there are some conditions. I've got a Polywhirl, Corphish, and Basculin. All three of them might be a bit too strong for the light touch needed to get weaker Pokemon in those balls. But what we'll do is, I'll catch them, and you people can fight and catch them. If they're a type I don't have yet, I'll keep them. If I've got them already, you can have them. Sam: I guess that's acceptable. Let's head to Polk Pond!

Professor Oat greets Wally, and invites him into his house. drive.google.com/file/d/12xPNB3ejH53-uHeDb5b0_dlKdv6M2PRM/view?usp=sharing Professor Oat: So, you want to revive your Bronzor, and can't get to a Pokémon Center? Well; as luck would have it, I have developed something of an alternative to Full Restores, and I might be willing to give you one! Now, I need to be honest; these things aren't cheap to produce. But with those bandits lurking just to our west, blocking the way to the nearest Pokémon Center, we're all under threat. One bit of potential good news, though, is there are reports that they favor Ground Type Pokémon, which are weak to Water Type moves. It looks like there's a battle looming, but if you pledge to support us with the water types you obtain, then I'll give you my new healing tonic. Rest assured Ponce and I will be in the battle, too.

Back at Professor Oat's house. drive.google.com/file/d/1JBFQUmfPanLxaXZ34GeinIxX4eqzGCmT/view?usp=sharingDaniel Oat: Well; hello again! I hope you all had fun fishing! Wally, I have some medicine for your Basculin that should help it heal overnight. As to a flying Pokemon that can scout for the bandits, I don't have one, but some others might. Let me make some calls. You two and your Pokemon can sleep here tonight.
