Mica bounced into Donovan in her hurry, gave a hop and snagged the tip of his bud in her mouth. "C'mon, lessgo!" She mumbled out of the side of her mouth bouncing along on the balls of her feet "Tru da door, second right, four lefts, an then a hard right!" Her stony little feet clacked along on the floor as she tugged him through the door and out of sight with incredible eagerness.

As Mica pulled him along, Donovans eyes grew wide, his bud being pulled being mildly more uncomfortable than being dragged along by his arm would have been.
In the moment he had no idea if they were going the right direction, and just did his best to keep up on his stubby legs

With the plant in tow of the bouncing rock-plant, the group quickly make it to their destination with no problem. Although, it was a little bit unnerving at times getting there, since it occasionally seemed like they should have been back to exactly where they had been, but with the junctions looking different.
As you turn into the room, you find, as promised... an empty room, with another passage leading out. Although, Mica gets the feeling of being watched, and notices a small shimmer in the corner of the wall, before a small, round, rainbow coloured bird makes itself visible in a top-corner. of the room. She squeals out "It's all right, it's them, they're here!" which triggers a flood of about a dozen small psychic types from the passage. They quickly crowd around the two outsiders, with a mostly unintelligible barrage of questions, before a bell gets everyone's attention by ringing. That seems to get the group to settle down (mostly), before the bird breaks the silence, asking "Who... are you, exactly? Like, where did you come from? Is it like here, or...?" She seems to make a deliberate effort to stop spilling out a bunch of questions at once.

"I'm Mica, and this is Donovan." The Bonsly introduced herself and her companion. "I'm from a town called Hirmilik."
Is it like here?
Closing her eyes, Mica took a deep breath. The great wide world was something she was proud of and enjoyed more then anything, that these kids had never known it was sad. She took the time to remember all the things she had drawn, and all the places she had been. When she at last spoke again her tone was in awe of this world she described.
"I've never been anywhere like here." She began. "There are no walls and no ceiling. The wind, water, and earth nurture all sorts of green and growing things, and Pokemon are everywhere."

As Mica talked, Donovan looked around the room before speaking "I'm from really far away, Eterna Forest, on the other side of the world. There the trees grew so thick it was almost like the walls here. Almost as confusing to get around too" He adds with a little smirk
He thinks for a second more before continuing "Do you know what a tree is?"

Murmurs fill the room at Mica's and Donovan's words. 'No walls? No ceiling? Where do you live? How are you kept safe? How far away is the other side of the world?' Those are just parts of the murmurs that the duo can hear. Many more are lost.
A small squid floats forwards to answer Donovan's question. "Well, we've read about them. They're like pillars, right? Only living, and growing on their own. But... no. None of us have ever seen one. We've never been outside."

"The world is enormous, so big that you could travel your whole lives and never see it all. It's filled with sights, and smells, and sounds like you could never imagine even with how mentally powerful you are. The mountains have always been my favorite!" She paused for a moment, her mouth moving as though she might be mathing something out.
"It's a big mound of rock that juts into the sky, breaking the wind and collecting snow and trees, and inside of it is all kinds of neat caves. The wind makes you feel like you can fly." Her eyes sparkled at the thought.

"Seems Mica missed a few of your questions" Donovan says with a chuckle after processing the rapid fire questions "We made walls and ceilings. Made houses, some of which went all the way towards the sky, scraping the clouds"
"Yeah, really tall and rough pillars, with a bunch of leaves and stuff towards the top, though some of them have needles instead. But they're just plants....kind of like me" He giggles at the last part, still not really being used to being a Pokemon.
"Any other questions you have for us?"

There's many more questions, from the feel of the sun, to the kiss of the wind, towns and buildings, but it all gets interrupted when the round bird darts back into the room, turning visible as she does so. "Okay, bad news. We've got an Elder coming, so we need to cut this off now, otherwise we'll get in big trouble." There's a chorus of 'awww's collectively, but the young Psychic types begin to trickle away. The bird's the last to leave, watching to make sure everyone slips out the back. "Thank you for everything. It may not seem like much to you... but to us, it's everything we can only dream of." She holds both of the outsiders' gazes, before darting away.
Less than a minute later, Akashi wanders into the room. He glances around, eyes lingering on the doorway on the other side, but instead turns to address Mica and Donovan. "All right. There has been much deliberation, but we have reached a course of action. I'll explain it to you on the way. What I have to say isn't exactly for empty rooms." His voice is pointed at his last statement. "Come with me."
As the bird leads you along the corridors, he begins, saying, "Let me preface this by saying that there are some things that I cannot tell you, some that I should not tell you, and some that I simply will not tell you. But, what I will tell you is likely sufficient."
"You know of the Plates, of course. I saw that you saw one," he nods towards Donovan, "There was a time before them. We have no records of those times, save that we existed. The history of us is that of the Plates. They appeared one day, eighteen in all, throughout the realm. It was soon discovered that each held an affinity for a type, and so tribes formed around each. Within proximity to the associated Plate, we were blessed with health and nigh-infinite life, at least as far as we know. We needed not for hunger or thirst. Only injury could take us."
"This, of course, meant that duels, skirmishes, and flat-out war were not uncommon. We needed to keep our numbers down somehow, and many lived for the thrill of the risk of dying, in a way other than wandering far and eventually dying of old age. There was always some intermingling during peace, but, as soon as war came once more, those not of the tribe were cast out or killed. Such was our way."
"And that continued for a long time. It's not very important. What eventually happened, was a prophecy emerged. A calamity would befall the realm. An eruption in a far off land, that would choke the air, followed by great freeze, that would cover the entire realm in ice. Such that not even those entirely of ice would be able to endure. Any who survived the first would not survive the second. The only way to survive would be to use the power of the Plates. Over the ages, we had discovered that they held the potential for great power, exponentially increased when combined. Unfortunately, spreading the prophecy had the opposite effect as intended. Rather than working together, the tribes went to war, in a great and bloody age, in an attempt to possess the Plates. The Last Conflict cut us down to a fraction of our population."
"Eventually, a council of each tribe met in secret. They were the most learned of each tribe in the ways of the Plates, and forged a deal - each of them would use their Plate separately, but for the same purpose, in hopes of increasing their power that way. It worked. They raised what you call the Temples, as safe spaces to ride out the calamity. In order to truly keep us safe, they needed to sacrifice themselves once everyone was inside in order to erect a great Seal. And they did so. I mourn their passing... they were the wisest of us - including my mentor."
"Unfortunately, since the Seal was forged by all the Plates... I believe that only all of them working together will allow it to fall at last. Which is a problem, given that we all live separately. Alas. All of this could have been avoided if we could have cooperated properly."
Akashi stops, and you notice that you have come to a room similar to the one where you spotted Axiom. There's a purple stone tablet in the center, with runes spreading out from it. "That is where you all come in. I believe that if you are able to unite the plates, you can use them to grant us release once more. And I believe that you are pure enough of heart and intention that the Plates will not cause trouble... for they will sometimes respond to the desires of the wielder. If one knows how to use them, they can prove even more powerful. That is why I think your youth and inexperience work in your favour here."
"So," he pauses, cocking his head to see if the duo was following or not, "What say you? Will you help?"

Donovan was silent during the explanation, a lot of it making sense, and some of it confirming some working theories he had. As he waited for Akashi to finish thinking, his heart began to beat faster. It was just like he told Mica earlier. There was no one else who could do this. Entire civilizations were riding on them to bring them freedom. Beings older than anything else alive. And they were relying on two people barely past childhood.
"But wait. If we take the Plate, won't that be bad for you all? Do you have the food or water to survive however long it takes us to gather the rest of them? Especially since we have to get at least one from Axiom?" He stood silent for a second, in thought, before speaking "And what of the Fighting Tribe? Are they going to be alright without their Plate?"
He sighed before shaking his head "But to answer your question, yes, though I'm sure you already knew that. Before we came into here, I was telling Mica that this was something only we could do, but I didn't know how right I was. But I will do everything in my power, limited as it may be, to make sure that you can feel the wind beneath your wings once more. To make sure that your children can see the sky, and trees, and mountains, and everything. I promise"

"It's nice that you're honest." Mica said up to Akatosh, though her town was a little down. "I don't really like not knowing, but I feel like a future-seeing bird that has lived for thousands of years probably knows a bit more then I do about what'll happen if I'm told something I shouldn't know." She bobbed thoughtfully. Donovan was right, they would have to get that plate back from Axiom, and it might even put them into conflict with her... that made Mica's tummy upset.
"I'll do my best." She affirmed finally, though she couldn't help but wonder if her best was good enough. Apex slept half the time, Dusty liked to hide, Spot was just a baby and ATE HER HARMONICA, and Professor Tot wasn't one for fisticuffs. MICA WASN'T ONE FOR FISTICUFFS! "I'm not much of a fighter... how come we can't just use this plate to squeak the door open just a little? Donovan would know better, but won't Axiom do awful things if we leave with your plate and it isn't here when she comes for it? What can she even use them for?" She barraged him with questions, as the children had her.

Akashi looks at Donovan, clacking his beak. "That you show concern means that I have made the right choice. But, yes. If the Plate is removed from where it stands, the energy bathing this place will cease. There will still be some left for some time to come... how long, I do not know. We will not perish quickly. But, if you fail in breaking the Seal, it will eventually happen. As it will for those of the Fighting tribe. And any others who are or become Plateless."
He churrs softly in laughter at Mica's question. "Child, do you not believe that if we could have used our own Plate to escape, that we would not have done so? The Seal is not so fragile. And, as for what she could use them for... I honestly could not tell you. All those who were versed in the Plates' abilities perished in the Sealing. I fear that it is not good, if she is willing to kill."
"If she comes, though, perhaps the lack of Plate will cause her to simply leave." He shakes his head, "Barring that, we will fight, and hide. This place is complex to those who do not know it perfectly. I suspect that we can cause ourselves to be more trouble than we're worth."

Mica seemed a little more at ease for Akashi's explanation, but leaned in and lightly nudged Donovan with the top of her head to turn him towards her. This wasn't a decision to make lightly, and her gut had rattled to a cold stop over it. "Donovan this is a lot of responsibility. I know that Kanadario's temple is already compromised and they need help, even if they don't want it. I know that a lot of them are going to want to fight us along the way." Her brow set low and her mouth pulled into a tight S, she felt queasy thinking about it. "This is going to put us against most if not all the remaining tribes, and Axiom. There's two of us, we don't even have the help of our Pokemon... I don't know how to fight as a person much less a pokemon." Wet built in the corners of her eyes as her anxiety mounted.
"We can't not do anything, but I don't feel strong enough to think that we're going to succeed without a great struggle..."

Setting his bud down on her shoulder, the closest to laying his hand as he could, Donovan speaks, his voice weak "Trust me, I know it's going to be hard, and dangerous. But at least we aren't alone. Axiom is doing this all by herself while we have each other!"
He pulled himself back up, the fear no longer hidden in his eyes "We'll learn how to fight as a Pokemon. Some of it comes as naturally as breathing in these forms. And if it ever gets to be too much in a fight, just tell me. I'll kick and I'll trip and I'll bite and I'll do whatever it takes to draw their attention away from you." He smiled "We may struggle, but we can't really afford to fail. We have to help those kids see the sun"

"Okay." She replied uncertainly, before nodding a little more firmly. "Okay! We'll do it!" Conviction sparked again in her tone and she stood a little taller. "I can believe in that. I'd fight for that. I can believe in Donovan too, he wouldn't lie to me." She looked up at Akashi. "I'll help you too!"

"Thank you both," Akashi says, bowing to each in turn. "I know that this must be hard for you. Not only is this is another world to your own, but you are both still so young. I assure you, if you are anything like our own children than you are capable of great things purely by accident."
"And, yes. It is most likely that the places you visit will not be welcoming. Most of the more tolerant amongst the high ranks of the tribes perished in order to erect the Seal. I cannot guarantee your safety. He hangs his head. "But I believe you have great potential. It's not a vision or anything, but I do believe in you, however irrational others might tell me I'm behaving." Despite the stiffness of his beak, you can tell that he's smiling.
After a moment, he flaps his wings, before jumping up and carefully removing the plate from its pedestal and gently laying it on the floor in front of Mica and Donovan. It's rather sizeable, easily able to serve as a bed. For both at once, even. As with the other Temple, the runes around the room slowly fade away, leaving the area feeling... empty. "I'll be honest. I'm not sure if you'll be able to lift this with your lack of appendages. It might be easier if I take it to the door for you. But, since you'll have to carry it, you should probably at least try moving it."

"I wonder if I can grow some, like vines or something. I know I can do that in order to attack" Donovan begins to focus, attempting to sprout vines like he had when using Absorb, though his attempts failed miserably "Huh, seems it's just a defense mechanism"
He takes a few steps forward before leaning down and pushing on the Plate with his bud, attempting to move it at all

Mica waddles backwards against the edge of the plate and gives it a push, also to no avail. "First hurdle... arms. Arms and maybe hands." She giggled at the thought. It was fine to make fun of the situation now, but going forward they would need third parties or limbs. Limbs would be good.

Both Mica and Donovan aren't able to move the plate much - though Mica's able to shift it a little bit more. Suddenly, after both have given up, it begins to glow, bathing the area in a purple light. When the light fades, the pair find themselves outside the Temple, back in human form, the rippling wall before them. Mica finds that her hands are grasping the Plate, the seemingly stone tablet weighing much less than it appears. Akashi is nowhere to be seen, though the Combee is still hovering around outside. Its faces show a mixture of loneliness, concern, and shock as it looks at you. It buzzes around a bit, before quickly turning into delight at the fact that you didn't seem to abandon it. While the light around you had faded, the Plate is still noticeably glowing - until it suddenly discharges, beams of light cascading out from it. Most of them streak off into the distance, before quickly fading, but one strikes the Combee. The little bug glows with a brief purple aura, before returning to normal. It briefly looks more confused than anything else, before returning to its regular routine of buzzing around you. The Plate seems to have returned to being the simple stone slab that you saw on the pedestal in the Temple, no longer glowing. You got the Psychic Plate.
Gain 1 Milestone.
Plates: These enable your Pokémon form to spend 2 TP to learn a Move of the Plate's type on their TM or Tutor Lists. These must still follow all other restrictions (Movelist, Playtest rules, etc.).

Smiling when he noticed the Combee had stuck around, Donovan took a few steps towards it when the light from the Plate struck it. As it hovers around him, seemingly back to normal, Donovan scrounges around in his pack for a Pokeball, holding it out to the Combee "I'm not really sure what just happened to you, but I'm a little worried it might not be safe in the future for you to be out all the time. I can let you out when we find you a hive, but in the meantime how would you like to join my team officially?"
After the Combees answer, he turned to Mica "Well....That was something. Do you want to carry it or should I?" He says gesturing down at the Plate "It would be best to keep it hidden I think."
