"They're meant to do that, sure. But haven't you ever wondered why it seems like your efforts aren't making as much of a dent as they should?" He pointed out with a raised eyebrow. "Here in Mythos, trying to quell madness with violence, fear and threats only creates more of them in the long run. This cocoon guy over here with me can attest to that if you want to ask him - he's a resident of your place here."
He then frowned. "And shadows aren't only constrained here. There are some who can go to other places given certain conditions, reflections and attachments, especially considering what they actually are. And that turns them into ticking time bombs of sorts that can go off anywhere from the stress." He then paused. "You uh, do know what shadows actually are, right?"
"I'm not sure on the specifics of their origin, just that they become stressors for people in real life. The more violent they get here, the more trouble there is in the real world. So it stands to reason that order must be maintained here. The more unstable ones must be removed before they can do any harm, and that's why I'm here. If I were to stop, those creatures would just continue to corrupt other innocent lives. The reason for their frequency is insignificant. What matters is that they exist, and must be dealt with. You can rest assured that regardless of how many show up, I WILL be here to eliminate them."
Football's eyes are sympathetic. He's certainly heard all of this before, but it doesn't seem to make it any easier for him to hear again.
"To what end my dear? Do you really believe that you can handle all of this responsibility by yourself?"
The Huntress gives a hate filled glare to the caccoon
"I remember you. I told you to not get involved with my work, and to stay in your assigned area, and you've continued to defy me. I've ignored your antics thus far, simply because you never seemed to show any signs of corruption, but now you're officially putting other people at risk by roping them into your little games. This group is fine, sure, but what if they came across something they couldn't have handled? Would YOU have protected them? Unlikely. When will you learn to stop taking risks you can't handle, and just let me make this place safe?"
Oh dear. She didn't know the facts and had an attitude that pretty much would exacerbate the problem if left alone. Miguel wished he could rub his temples to stop the onset of that migraine that was beginning to come on. Surely, this was just a case of being rather... ignorant, at best.
"Just fighting back and ignoring the source of the problem isn't going to help you in the long run, you know. Especially if you're doing it alone." Miguel pointed out with a sigh. "You do not cure an illness by pumping oneself with placebos and hoping it'll go away, especially when the disease acts akin to something like cancer or something. It would be more efficient to cut it off at the source, and it's easier to do that with help. This little guy with us is offering."
He then frowned deeper. "Also, if you haven't figured it out yet... shadows are the reflections of people in the other world as they would be represented on Mythos. These shadows you kill and these shadows you guard... they're all people. And the state of the shadows here are mirrors of the states the people in the other world. And shadows going mad en-masse means that there's something wrong on both sides that need to be fixed before the ripples get to massive for even the best efforts to fix. Get me so far or no?"
The huntress gets a little less stern, and more concerned.
"I see. Yes, I believe I understand what you're saying. These creatures don't become corrupted just by some natural order, it's by influences from the outside world. If someone has a bad day, it creates one of those monsters. Their weak natures are actually causing more destruction than I realized . . . I can't believe I never connected the two before. Every time a creature came here, it was when a student was behaving irrationally. I've been far too kind to them thus far"
The huntress turns to you, and bows.
"Thank you for this enlightening information. I've been approaching this problem all wrong. You're right, I need to cut this problem off at the source."
She turns, and heads to the well. Though her appreciation was sincere, and demeanor kind, there's something horribly menacing about what she just said.
Ciara shook her head. She hadn't spoken much, but somehow she felt the need to interject.
"Cutting off the problem... it doesn't work" She said. "It's gangrene, and you can't just cut off the infected flesh because it will just keep festering and come back. And if you just keep cutting eventually there comes a time when you've cut so much, it became too big a price already"
Ciara didn't like the spotlight, and didn't like being scrutinized. But the attitude of this girl... it sat really wrong with her. Like a sinking feeling in the pit of their stomach.
"You say you'll cut it off at the source, but I feel you'll just do the same outside. And that won't fix anything. This isn't a problem that gets fixed by hammering at it until it goes away. That'll just make people even more scared, hurt, and will make the situation worse on both sides"
"I don't know. I don't hold the answers either" Ciara said. "But I do know that you have probably been doing this for a while and the negative shadows just come back, right? If that's the case, then just eliminating them doesn't change things"
Ciara dropped her arms to her side (she had been hugging her sides out of nervousness) and took a deep breath.
"If corrupted shadows are the results of people's minds being in a bad state, then the best way to stop them from appearing would be to help those that are creating them. But if we just do that then new hurt people will show up, because people don't just fall out of balance for no reason. Stress, depression, bad emotions, anger... they all come from the conditions you live in"
She looked at the huntress.
"If what you really want is to protect this place, then the best way is not by fighting off the infection. It's by stopping people from getting infected in the first place.
Something about Ciara's last comment seems to strike a nerve in the huntress
"Stop people from feeling bad? That's your big idea? That's ridiculous. Humans are constantly falling into despair for one irrational reason or another. They're foolish! Dramatic! Irrational! You cannot reason with them! They experience minor stress from school and have panic attacks! They find out they have to work hard and start considering leaping off a bridge! The best you can do is protect those who know how to keep their emotions in check, and eliminate those who can't!"
The tentacles behind the Huntress begin to wave more wildly, and turn a deeper shade of dark purple. They seem to grow more intense as she gets more and more agitated.
"It's never just school stress or just one bit of working hard. There's so much of everyone's life we can't see. Sometimes it seems like it was something small... but really it was the 500th small thing that week." Suzume says, somewhat quietly, but making sure to be loud enough to be heard.

"Which is precisely WHY we need to eliminate them! There's far too many variables to consider when preventing this behavior, and everyone in the world experiences it! If they couldn't handle it, maybe it's better that they just disappeared!"
The huntress is getting more and more furious. She's starting to lose focus on the conversation, and seems to be arguing with herself right now. It doesn't seem like she can take much more. The next few statements will be the deciding factor of the events to happen next
Miguel looked on warily at the agitated tentacles for a few moments before looking back at her. "And what exactly would your new solution be? How would you deal with the possible fallouts of said solution? Because if it's as extreme as you claim it to be, then the fallout would be equally as bad."
The Huntress turns back with a menacing glare, purple light burning from her eyes, as a passion fuels inside her.
"I'm doing what the common person isn't willing, or perhaps capable of. I've dealt with horrific situations before, I can deal with whatever happens from this. If that's all, I'll ask you to collect your companion and see yourselves out."
Jericha clicks her tongue, and cracks her knuckles. Anything she would say would instantly lead to a fight. If the others are committed to diplomacy, power too 'em. But, Jericha would rather sort things out with her fists. Stomping a mud hole in this "huntress" would be much more her speed.
Suzume reaches into her bag and pulls out one of the pictures of the girl and the older gentle man. "Are you saying you'd even make him disappear? 'Cause that's where this all leads."

Madman that spent half a year describing one city in Ceres and then held a Feast of the Gods
Up until now, the atmosphere has been an increasingly growing wave of oppression. The huntress's energy started to flow out of her in deep purple flames, her determination was manifested in the burning hatred seeping from her eyes, but Suzume managed to bring it all to a crashing halt with that picture. Suddenly, the Huntress's eyes widened, the tentacles stopped their wailing, and the whole room was dead silent. Nearly serene.
The Huntress takes a few steps toward Suzume. There is no malicious intent in her aura, so Suzume wouldn't have much reason to feel defensive. The huntress takes the photo gently from her hand, lost in its contents, before her eyes start to narrow again.
"He had no problem making himself disappear, now didn't he?"
She tosses the picture in the air, quickly draws her rifle from her back, and fires it at the photo, leaving it in burnt fragments. Her eyes never looked towards the photo for aim, they remained on Suzume. Before they had determination, passion, a goal. Now they were just hate. Their veins filled with a dark ooze before becoming fully engulfed in black. The tentacles from the well have let out a horrid screech, causing minor bits of debris to crumble off of the walls before they raced towards the Huntress, piercing through her torso, and wrapping themselves around her neck, but she remains unfazed. She is unbothered by the blood pouring out the fresh wound of her stomach. She never stops glaring at Suzume, the pure amount of hate now screaming louder than her words ever could, as the tentacles raise her high above the rest of you.
"I've changed my mind. I want you all dead. I want you all running and struggling to breathe, and in your final moments, you shall beg to whatever gods you believe in to show you mercy, but they won't come. There will only be me."
She is dragged into the well at lightning fast speed. The ground shakes as a blinding purple aura gushes out of it, followed by a large menacing monstrosity, as it pulls itself from the depths of the toxic sludge. It's hard to explain why you know, but you can tell that this creature is the Huntress, or what she's allowed her distortion to turn herself into.
"Youu3 w!!lllL Run QNQNWN @annd ! W[ll Huurnt Yu1u!!!"
And with that, the doors to the garden are slammed shut in your face, a dark material has fully engrossed them, making them impossible to open. The doors behind you have similarly been sealed shut. All you have left are doors to the left, the right, and the lockers in the room with you.
The poor enemy swoobat barely had time to look behind itself before being swarmed by a nightmarish bug ninja hacking into its sides. It made a quick escape, giving the scyther an attack of opportunity, but managing to make a safe distance between itself and the attacker. One would think that the creature would be more antagonistic towards the bug creature that just tried to hack its face off, but instead, the bat pig made a complimentary comment on the creature's nice figure, which raised its special attack by one combat stage, but also left it in a state of confusion. From a classroom further down the hall, another bat comes out, looking to see what all the commotion was. Once it noticed its companion injured, it ran up and snuggled it, healing a bit of it's wounds.
Next up is basically everyone but the octopus and coffin
Miguel could hear the commotion from the other side of the hall, but said hall was a bit long. Too long for him to traverse quickly even with his agile movement... or Arsene's. However, he had a Plan. He nodded over to the end of the hallway and put down cocoon man, and then he proceeded to take Arsene and throw him like a fastball over to the other side.
Arsene, taking his cue, proceeds to throw a rocket punch to clock the closer bat in the face with a punch once he moves the remaining distance and sees the target. Behind him, Miguel leaped forward like a grasshopper with a preparatory bounce, and lands neatly some distance away from the fight.
Easter and Egg have made their way down the hallway. Since Ciara has already put up a reflect, Easter puts up a Light screen. It is now Ciara/Jericha's turn

Seya
Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Slytherclaw
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)

Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
(27 Sept 2015): "No theme to it this time, just miscellaneous changes to range from rejiggering old Classes to streamlining core mechanics to making balance adjustments."
(22 Feb 2016): "Most of our playtest packets deal with Classes or Items, so it's time we had one that dealt with the most important thing of all: Pokemon!"
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
