a slot on the door opens revealing the kin's eyes. They're scowling, but also glowing a beautiful green. Mixed feelings.
"The lot of you have been here for all of 47 seconds, and before even attempting to knock on the door, you've tried scaling the wall, intimidating me with scary facing, and are attempting to scale the wall once more! Why have none of you even BEGUN to offer me your letters of recommendation?"

Fae, has been getting inreasingly agitated as the situation spirals out of control. The human starts fiddling with a fishing rod (which can't be good...) and Hsia literally jumps onto the door and starts climbing like a feral animal, while the cowardly lion (fox, deer, whatever) yells at the group from behind the door. And Fae hates scaredy-cats (or foxes, deers, or whatever!). PLUS, it was calling Secus a monster???
And now, the fox-thing demands a recommendation letter, which Fae doesn't have- the demon said Jorel mailed it to the school already. Nothing makes sense, and in his frustration, Fae unleashes a blinding light to get everyone's attention.
As he looks straight into those glowing emerald eyes, Fae tries to control himself (semi-successfully) from yelling. "First of all, dude-behind-the-door, don't go calling my new friend a monster! Of all the racist...listen, I thought I left all the hillbillies back at home, but I guess not. Just because he looks different? Don't you look different, too? I'm sure other small-minded people would call you a monster, but they'd be just as ignorant!" Fae pauses, huffing. "Now, about the letter...I don't have a letter of recommendation with me...I don't have anything, really, since my house burned down...but, anyway, I thought I was accepted into the school already. I mean, why else would be here right now? I was just dropped off by a demon...who said Jorel already sent a letter to you guys. My name is Fae? Was it a mistake coming here?"

"Oh you're Fae? Jorel's ward?"
Once again, in an appropriately comedic 3rd time, the lengthy series of unlocking noises on the other side of the door. He opens the door, Hsia being moved along with it, and the fox/fawn trods out, observing every aspect of Fae. Suddenly he pulls out some measuring tape, begins measuring every limb, cylinder, and major landmark on Fae before grabbing his wrist and dragging him through the doors and closes them once more.
"Sorry about that. Welcome to Windriders! We're happy to help you. Also, wasn't being racist earlier. He glared his teeth at me and gave me a horrifying stare. He was clearly trying to kill me!"

"A letter of recommendation?" Secus asks, the obviousness of it dawning on him. He reaches behind him pulling off his pack, and rummaging through it. Meanwhile, the doors swing open, and Flowerpot is yanked inside. When he finally pulls the parchment, aged and wrinkled, out of his things, the gate is already moving to close again. Before it can, he moves to get inside the arc, being already near enough to the door to do so. He steps up to the fawn-boy, and, holding the letter out with a horrifying triumphant smile, says, "I have it right here!"

As he finally got the final pieces of his rod in place, Sorin looked up to see Fae get dragged in fast. It was that simple? He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. He must have overreacted, he didn't know how they did things in the cities all that well. "Um, My name's Sorin Astra and my uncle Calix said he handled everything, so...Maybe it's in my bag? I need to check to be sure" And so he took his fishing rod back apart, stuffing it all back inside his bag as he started searching for the letter of recommendation. Perception:12 When he found the aforementioned not, he let out a loud laugh, almost a cackle as he stared at the note, Well, this explained a lot. He kept laughing even as he pulled the letter out of his bag. He felt so bad about this mix up, he really didn't mean to be so rude. as his mad cakling came to a close, he bowed towards the door and shouted out. "I'm Sorryyy! I didn't mean to be so rude, I just forgot to look through the things Uncle Calix gave me, Please forgive me!"

The clicking and clanking of the locks affords Hsia plenty of warning. She clings to her spot fifteen feet up the doors as they open, waits until they swing to a brief stop, slips through the gap while the skittish gatekeeper is busy below, and drops down silently behind him as he shuts them again.
Then, because she was listening as well as climbing, she proffers a sealed envelope. "Letterr," she growls helpfully, in case he doesn't recognize it.

The fox/fawn turns with a smile towards Secus and Hsia.
"Ha? Sorry I didn't hear what you sai-"
As soon as he sees that a wood elf with the most horrifying smile in existence and a kin with the menacing aura of a soldier with experience. He screeches in a high pitched voice, and darts back, using his body as a barrier between the two intruders and Fae. From his breast pocket, he pulls out what seems to be a cattail plant and points it at Secus and Hsia. The way it bobbles is hardly threatening. In fact, it's kind of adorable
"D-d-d-d-don't worry Fae! I-I'll protect you!!"
He seems noble, but considering that the boy is using one hand to grip Fae's shirt for balance probably means that he's not quite as secure as he leads on. However, the boy's expression changes when he notices the letters being presented to him. Timidly, he takes a few steps before snatching the letters out of their hands. A look of instant regret falls over his face as he realizes his mistake.
"You . . . you're new students . . I . . . "
The boy clings his head and drops to the ground hard to bow before you. His words are difficult to understand through the heavy bawling of his tears.
"IM SO SORRY!! IDIDNTUNDERSTANDWHATWASHAPPENINGIMEANYOUGUYSJUSTSORTOFSHOWEDUPANDSTARTEDSMASHINGTHINGSANDTHENYOUSCAREDMEWITHTHATSCARYFACEYOUWEREMAKINGANDSOMETIMESBADGUYSSHOWUPHEREANDITSMYFIRSTTIMEANDIWASSCAREDTHATYOUWEREGOINGTOTRYANDSTEALMYFURANDEARSANDIDONTWANTTOLOSEMYFURANDEARSINEEDTHEMTHEYREGREATWHERETHEYAREPLEASEFORGIVEMEPLEASEFORGIVEMEPLEASEFORGIVEMEPLEASEFORGIVEME-"
Some animals are predators, and some are prey. It's pretty obvious which this boy is.

Oh. It's that simple? Fae thinks as the deer/fox-boy pulls him through the door. Meanwhile, Fae believed that this was all a test, and was using logic to figure out motives. Sigh. For all his reasoning, Fae lacks common sense. Jorel used to say that. As the fox-boy turns to Fae to explain, Fae notices that they aren't alone- Hsia and Secum must have slipped through the closing door. Unfortunately, these are the two most (how to say it?) visually shocking of the group. As they converge on the fox, it's not too difficult to guess what's about to happen. Everything seems to go in slow-motion as Foxy turns around to face the two intruders, and a comical scene plays on his face: first curiosity, then shock, then terror. Quite simply, he freaks out. But what surprises Fae is that Foxy actually puts himself in front of Fae to defend him- very noble for someone so seemingly gutless. It's a shaky defense at best- almost laughable- but still, perhaps the fae misjudged the fox. At last, the fox notices the letters and realizes that the two are not attackers but potential students. As he falls to the ground, profusely apologizing, Fae strides over to him, putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, it's not your fault- we all messed up because we didn't just explain ourselves at first. It's us who should be sorry."Attempt to charm Mr. Fox: 19 Should this be successful: Fae says, "Perhaps we should let the others in, so you can show us where we need to go?"

"You need not apologise," Secus says sagely, bowing to prostrate guardian. "You are dedicated to your duty. This is as it should be...You have protected your charge well." The last part is said more quietly, and there is a very faint quiver to Secus' voice, as though saying the words caused him pain. "I made an error in assuming the locked gate was some kind of test. I apologise for causing you worry." He deepens his bow, hoping the subservient posture will calm the young protector.

Sorin heard the fox boy suddenly start begging for forgiveness, Oh no! It was their fault! He couldn't let the guy berate himself for all of their mistakes. What could he do to make up for all the trouble they caused him? Wait, that's it! Hugs make everything better, right? And so Sorin scrambled up the door his intense desire to give the boy a hug helping him scale it fast, He took no extra time once he made it to the top, diving immediately from the top of the door to the bowing boy, hopefully he doesn't break anything. Acrobatics to Scale the wall:17 Athletics, To make the boy take his hug:17 Charm, to try and soothe him:6
Regardless of whether he's successful, he spouts out. "No, no! It's not your fault, It's all ours, We shouldn't have made such a ruckus! We should be the ones asking for forgiveness!"

For a brief moment, the fox fawn almost seemed to calm down . . . then a human came in leaping from the top of the wall into a dive hug of absurd affection levels. The poor boy's soul seems to start leaving his mouth

Fae, enraptured by the outward display of affection, can't help but join in on the hug. But since Sorin is being extremely forceful with it, Fae can't really find an "in." So he just throws himself on top like a dogpile and hangs on. Athletics to join the hug: 15

Straitening back up from his bow, Secus is surprised to find the gatekeeper buried under the bodies of Sorin and Flowerpot. At first he thinks the situation has degraded into a melee, but after a moment, he notices their faces, or at least those of the humans, and realises it's actually just a very aggressive hug. He steps back, hoping to avoid catching an elbow to the face, and glances at the Kin, Hsia, wondering if she has any intention of joining the "brawl". It would seem he had a lot to learn about how people in Orebro acted toward each other.
He still held his recommendation letter in his hand, the deer-child not having had time to take it before being pounced on like an injured fawn, not really certain what he should be doing. After a moment of observing the loving grapple, he decides to go over to the gates, which have not yet been relocked, and, pushing on the door, let in the Goblin who had been with them earlier.

Hsia is staring at the dogpile (foxpile?) and looking so confused. What are they doing? It's not an attack. Are they trying to wrestle him into submission? He seems submissive enough already.
She watches his outstretched hand carefully, waiting for cues.

The hug is nice. Foxy is very warm and soft, so Fae just basks in the affection for a bit. After a few seconds of a thoroughly good hug, Fae opens his eyes (previously shut tight from squeezing) to a desperate, furry hand reaching for help. Fae's eyes widen and he leaps off of the fox, who currently gasps for air. Sorin the Human is still squeezing the fox tight around the neck. Fae hurriedly cries, "Sorin, you're hurting him!" and begins to pry the boy's hands off of the Deerfox. Sorin has an iron grip, however, which Fae ultimately gives up on, resulting to beating at Sorin's hands until he responds. He looks to the others for help. Hsia only stares passively from a few yards away, while Secus has turned away to open the door for the goblin (what was his name again?). Wow, thanks for the help, guys!
Suddenly, Fae remembers where he is. After ascertaining that Sorin's grip has indeed lessened, Fae turns around to get a better look at the courtyard behind the door, to the sounds of Foxboy coughing and gulping in air behind him. perception roll IxHzMzNa4d6 for observing the area 4d6

immediately around him Fae finds an absurdly beautiful courtyard leading to an array of halls and entrances. The initiate grandeur of windriders is initially intimidating, especially to someone as inexperienced as Fae, but hopefully the lavender flowers and angelic choir he's hearing in his head helps deal with that

When he felt the warm object press against the hug he felt that the whole group would inevitably join in....Sorin was wrong. Maybe because he was expecting people to join in at anytime, he held on too long, but he just thought if he held on a little longer, they would all start to join. So when he felt the other body move off, and then start trying to pry him off, he was certain that he had held on too long. It took him a minute to untangle himself from the fox, but he did after a few moments of rolling and wiggling. Maybe he heard a pained grunt or two, he couldn't tell. Sorin finally disentangled himself from the Kin, flipping away from the puddle of deer/fox Kin he made. Acrobatics to Flip:16 He attempted to land on one foot, posing like the acrobat he is with his arms held out above him and his wide grin on display for all to see, he clearly didn't know that he had been hurting the boy.

Sorin certainly ended his leap with an impressive flourish. Too bad the fox/fawn was still twitching on the ground as he struggled to get to his feet.
"Uggh . . . thank you for your . . . concern. Maybe let's just start over? Also, I'm not crying! You're Crying!. My name is Alfa. I'm a student here, and I'm supposed to be the one to lead you through orientation and get you your first companion. It's a pleasure to meet you."
