"Ho there ladies!" greets an old man, as he walks up a staircase that was partially blocked by the side of the Lighthouse. He's an old man with snow white hair and a matching beard. He has a captain's hat on his head as well as a blue knee length sailor's coat with matching pants and a pipe in his mouth. He's followed up the stairs by a large black dog with floppy ears.
"I see you two ladies are Trainers" he says as he walks up, "thoughI'm not feeling much fire. I take it this is your first gym?" he asks with a warm smile.
Kylie nods, seeming a bit more peppy in response to his comment. "Yeah. We don't have a lot of experience yet. I've only been in two battles myself and neither of them were trainer versus trainer." Not really at least. Since she did punch that poacher's pokemon.
He takes off his cap and wipes his brow, "Well, you two ladies really are green behind the ears arent you?" He looks up into the greying sky. "Hmmmm, weather looks to be turning... how about you ladies come on in and I'll serve you some dinner and we can chat a bit more. Id be happy to give you some directions on where to train."
The Captain leads you into the Lighthouse, which is clearly his home. The entrance opens up into a dining room and kitchen with the table and walls filled with a fairly random assortment of pictures and baubles. Upon closer inspection, the baubles on the small shelves are from all over the world and the pictures are of the Captain on a large ship, also from across the globe.
"Sorry about the mess"
He clears some space from the table and chairs before heading over to the kitchen, the black dog laying down in a bed by a pot-bellied stove. As you look around you see a few other Pokemon scattered around the home; A Poliwrath is in the kitchen wearing an apron, a large grey bird with a captain's hat sits on a perch inside the lighthouse proper alongside a sleeping Pelliper, a Crawbominable and Crawdaunt nap underneath the perch, and a Mankey pokes its head out from under the table. As her nears the fridge, a Purrloin jumps off the top and expertly lands on his shoulders before curling up like a black scarf.
"A-are you with the gym, then? And, um, would you mind if I release some of mine? I kind of don't like being without a couple pokemon out ever since I got mine but that may be rude and I'm not really sure how to ask or if that's proper or anything... I mean, if that's okay"
He lets out a deep belly laugh "I guess I didn't properly introduce myself did I? Forgive my old mind I forget things like that sometimes. I'm Captain Norton, the leader, and currently only resident trainer, of the Burr Point Gym. And of course, you can let your team out missy, assuming they fit."
Leanne eeped a little. Of course it was the gym leader... what did she expect when she came to the gym? She released her pokemon, the grasses sitting in her lap as usual while Anaïs fluttered above and Mathieu made himself busy looking around.
She sort of prodded Kylie with her foot to see if the other girl would take the lead with this converation.
"U-um, nice to meet you sir. I'm Leanne Dewbright, from Laverre" she answered, her accent a little thick due to nerves.
"Pleased to meet you as well. I'm Kylie Mendaiza, of Blackston." She offers a hand in greeting. "We are kinda just starting out on our Pokemon Journey, so we'd like to take on your gym soon."
After she gets her hand shook, she'll go ahead and let out her four: Kida the Zubat, Sparks the Pikachu, Arges the Duskull and Deadwood the Venipede. Kida immediately takes up perch hanging from Kylie's shoulder.
"Quite the variety you ladies have there. I'm sure they'll serve you both well. May I ask why you don't wanna challenge me right away? Most trainers I get are awful gung ho to get going." He lets out another laugh as he casually pets his cat.
"U-um well... We just started and it may look like we have a lot of pokemon but... I-I mean, I've been mostly winging it. We'd just rather like, calm down and train and get to know each other for a second?" Leanne tried to explain.
"Aaaah, I understand little lady, going full steam ahead isn't good for a ship and it isn't good for people." He comes back from the fridge with a drink for each of the girls. "There's a nice cave system down the way a bit thats got plenty of pokemon to battle if you've the mind to it. The woods around here arent too bad if you don't go in too far. If you just wanna relax? The fishing isn't too bad!"

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

but how else do i find games then?

Sounds to me like they weren't a group you'd want to be part of anyway.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.

Post on the Game Masters Seeking Players page. There are plenty examples there to go off of.
