The walk back to the farm is thankfully uneventful. You catch Jack walking out of his barn with his old Growlithe following him. "Did everything go well?"

Leanne nodded meekly.
"U-um, we took care of the bugs but there was a hole in the fence"

"Yeah. Nothing too too bad, though yeah, there was a damaged fence. You might want to get that checked out. Also, I might want to get more capture balls. I'm running low." Kylie says with a sheepish grin.

Jack scratches his chin "Just as I thought, something chased them out of the woods. I'll get on fixing that fence but I'm not sure if that's gonna solve it for good." He pulls out his wallet and hands each of you 1000. "Good work though. If you two wanna double your money I'd be real thankful if you could figure out what chased those bugs out."

Leanne looked a bit nervous at the prospect, but then she thought about just how well her Drowzee had done against the bugs.
"I-I mean, we're pretty new and my team has really bad matchups against most forest bugs but I guess we could try?"

"Oh, okay... t-that's awfully kind of you" Leanne said, still not very sure if this was a good idea. She released Mathieu again and gave him some water so he could recover his strength a bit.
You know, just in case.

Kylie takes a drink of water to help recover before she considers. "I think we can do it together. I mean, working as a team we managed to minimize what risk your Pokemon took, right?"

"I just didn't use my plant types because I was afraid of them getting hurt" Leanne muttered.

By the time you both get back to the hole in the fence, the bugs you fought have apparently come around and ran off. The hole seems to have a small trail in its center that leads further into the woods.

Leanne motioned Mathieu to stay with her and gingerly walked to the hole in the fence before looking around.

Perception 4+ You see a few small neat holes in the ground here, probably bug footprints. Also, strangely, some prints that look to be from a sneaker. Perception 8+ You can hear the cries of a few pokemon in the distance, they appear to be in distress

"Um, there's some shoe prints? And I think I hear some Pokemon cries" Leanne said, really concerned now.

Kylie notices the footprints. "I think we should follow them. They might lead to whoever disturbed the bug Pokemon earlier." She lets Kida out again. "I know it's rough, Kida, but let's see what we're getting into, okay?" She prepares to start in past the fence to see what's behind it.

The woods isnt particularly thick once you cross the fence, a few scrub bushes, but mostly knee high grass. The path is fairly obvious, and oddly straight, far to straight to have been made by pokemon. After several minutes of following the path you find the source of the cries, at least a few of them. Several spherical cages are suspended from the surrounding trees and inside them are a handful of pokemon: A female Nidoran, a Butterfree, a Spinarak, a Pikachu and 3 Caterpie.
The Pikachu and the Butterfree where attacking the cages when you come into the clearing, but stop once they see you.

Leanne looks a bit shocked, especially since they weren't that far from the ranch so it didn't make much sense for the farmer not to have noticed, in her opinion.
She took a couple steps back and dialed the local police precinct.
"U-um, hello? Yes? This is Leanne Dewbright, a trainer. Um, I was helping a man clear out a bug problem with a friend and we stumbled upon what looks like Pokemon traps? like... cages and that. If I send you my location, could you have someone come?"

Kylie blinks. "This is horrible. I'm going to try freeing them." She takes a couple pictures on her dex mostly so they have evidence later. Then she attempts to go to the cages and start opening them. "This is cruel, unsporting, and just plain mean!"

Leanne gives the police woman the address and they say they'll be there as soon as they can.
Kylie looks around and finds the ropes suspending the cages in the air. A few seconds later and the cages are on the ground, and the pokemon freed. The Pikachu and the Nidoran stretch and shake themselves once they are out and the Butterfree flutters about, seemingly rather agitated while the three Caterpie remain together.

Leanne approached the group of Pokemon, kneeling a bit to get a better look.
"Are you all okay?" she asked.

The Pikachu and Nidoran both squeak in what Leanne takes to be an affirmative and the Caterpie all seem to calm down a fair bit at Leanne's soothing voice. The Butterfree stops flitting about and simply hovers above the Caterpie, trilling an affirmative.
