Leanne shook her head.
"Um, Eevee aren't really my thing. Do you want to try, Finn?"

"Not particularly. It's definitely adorable, but I'd prefer some sort of water pokemon. No offense little creature"

The Eevee cocks its head, and once it realizes that the trainers aren't gonna eat it, it bounds off into the meadow.

"Um, we should keep looking. Not that I want to rush you or anything... I'd just rather not have to search some other day" Leanne told Finn.

"Of course."
Finn carries onward, though slightly walks in the direction of the stream, hoping to encourage Leane to go that way as well

Leanne followed, but stayed mostly towards the fields and away from the water. Some Water-types were cute, but she didn't think she'd want one as her starter. She kept checking around shrubbery and wooded areas.

Viviko quickly took a step back and stomped on the longest of the willow whips to make a makeshift barrier between herself and the pokemon. Her pokedex in hand, she scanned the creature, even though she already had some idea of what it was. The moment the machine beeped with confirmation, but before it could deliver any information, she threw one of the pokeballs through a gap in the whips.

Following his gut, Morgan slowly approaches the willow whips to his left, perhaps he will find a pokemon more fitting to be his partner there

The ball shakes twice before the Growlithe bursts out of it. With a loud bark it shoots a jet of fire at Viviko.

Meanwhile Leanne and Finn head over towards the stream and find a brown and yellow pokemon with a small trunk drinking from the water as well as a pokemon with yellow wool and blue skin drinking across from it. As the trainers walk up, the two pokemon look at them and a small orange fuzzy pokemon pokes its head out of the water.
Morgan pushes through the whips and as he comes out the other side he sees a small purple, fuzzy pokemon eating a berry while a pokemon that looks like a green plant bulb with a few leaves sticking out the top bounces around it.1d20·2d6+17

With curiosity on what these pokemon are, Morgan pulls out his pokedex to see what info he can obtain

"Venonat, a Bug/Poison pokemon. It can cover its entire furry body in a poison. Venonat's highly developed eyes help it find suitable prey and can shoot powerful beams."
"Petilil, a Grass type Pokemon. Its head is tipped with three oblong leaves that are very bitter. However, these leaves possess revitalizing effects. Strangely, this Pokémon is a female only species with no male counterpart."

Finn's eyes widen with anticipation as he sees the pokemon hanging out by the water. He whips out his dex to get a scan of them and confirm whether or not they're water pokemon

"Buizel, a Water pokemon. The yellow collar that surrounds its neck can be inflated and used as a flotation device when it inhales. By inflating this sac, it can keep its face above water to watch for prey movement."
"Drowzee, a Psychic pokemon. Drowzee is able to put people to sleep, and can then sense the person's dreams. This is so it knows what kind of dream it would be eating. It eats dreams through the victim's nose, so it is said that Drowzee is standing over a person's pillow if their nose itches while they are asleep. Drowzee has certain preferences for the dreams it eats, and it is known to love fun dreams and become ill from bad dreams. It will rarely eat the dreams of adults, as the dreams of children are seemingly tastier. Drowzee remembers every dream it has eaten, and may show past meals to a person that often sleeps by it."
"Mareep, and Electric pokemon. Mareep's wool, which grows continuously, stores electricity, rubbing together and building a static charge. Its volume increases when it builds up with electricity. Touching the wool when it is charged will result in a static shock. During the summer, the fleece is shed, but it grows back in a week. Air is also stored in its fur, which allows it to stay cool during summer and warm during winter. It tends to avoid battle in the wild and has a mild disposition. Mareep has an orange sphere at the end of its tail, which acts like a small light bulb. This sphere glows brighter the more electricity it has."

Morgan smiles at the two of them and considers catching the petilil for a moment, before shaking his head
"You know what? you two seem to be doing alright for yourselves"
He decides to continues moving, to see if he finds anything else

Leanne frowned a bit at the 'dex's descriptions.
"I don't think I'll have any luck here either" she said. Was she fated not to find a Pokemon she liked?
"Um, do you want to try, Finn?"

Finn is filled with absolute glee as he realizes that the Buizel is in fact an adorable water pokemon, whom could probably keep up with him when swimming. Finn gets down to Buizel's level and tries to get it's attention, while trying his best not to come off as hostile
"Hey little guy . . . um . . . I like your face? . . . Can I try and be your friend?"

Viviko immediately dropped to the ground and rolled, extinguishing the flames that clung to her clothes. With something of a pained gasp, she reached for another ball and threw it at the enraged pokemon, hoping to buy a few seconds while it'd be trapped inside. Not sticking around long enough to see if the ball actually hit the growlithe, the usually quiet girl yelled at the top of her lungs:
"Heeeeeeeelp!"

The Growlithe rips itself free of the ball again, shakes its head, and starts to run off.
The Buizel lifts its head fully our of the water and cocks its head at the strange boy. Leanne hears a strange rapid chirrup off to her left by a small berry bush. Finn is to preoccupied with the Buizel to notice.

Finn takes out one of his pokeballs and holds it in front of Buizel. He points at the button on the front
"See, if you touch this button here, and you'll be my friend, and we can like . . . um . . . swim . . . and do other things that are normal for friends to do . . . juggle?"
