12:05PM, Day 1, January 1090
It was a fine morning in the city of Aerawatch, and it would be even better if this was not the day after New Year. New Year blue was a thing for many people of the working class and waking up to work after the New Year party was something not many people enjoyed, workaholic aside. The New Year party in the Cobalion College ground has been crazy; not Keldeo crazy, a different kind of crazy. It was a yearly tradition for these trainers to go for one last night of celebration before they became an adult, with responsibility and what not. Most Cobalion graduates took their Pokemon sport career very seriously, arguably moreso than the other three academies. They were competitive, they were in there to win and to become the best ever. That is not to say the other academies did not think like that but Cobalion has always been the most serious and competitive among them; always trying to be one step ahead of everyone.
The two weeks of freedom ended with an explosive climax at the final night. All the stress release was all on time high throughout the party. All the students, uptight or not in their normal days, were wild as Tauroses. In fact, the uptight bunch of them was always the craziest. The night just brought up every little thing they were hiding inside themselves, good or bad, - but mostly bad because well, that's human - out to the world. Sure, many of them regretted it on the day after but that has never stopped teenagers and young adults from doing stupid things for...1090 years, so far and counting.
As Cobalion was the most formulaic and formal of all colleges, the morning after has always been one pain in the ass for these hypocritis party animals. The morning ceremony started on 8AM, no delay whatsoever, and it went all the way to 12PM. Those were four hours of boredom and annoyance. It started with plenty of long whiny speeches from the faculty that no one really cared, yet they did out of formality. The headmaster was the most hated person of the day. His speech was always long when all everyone wanted was to get their graduation gift, their starter and be on their way. Following that verbal wall of text was a thanking speech from the student representative and then a long ceremony of each student going up the stage, thanking every lecturer, and then taking their "package of graduation" -- graduation certificate, trainer's license, a Pokeball containing their starter and a Pokedex. Depending on how many parents were there to take pictures with their proud children on stage, the process was either long or longer.
As it ended, the students were led to the spacey room 108 for a post-ceremony party. The foods were abundant, laying out in the perfect order on the long line of tables, buffet style. Some students left immediately, having no intention to stay and chill, some were enjoying their time with their parents who took vacation on the first work day of the year to visit them and others were taking their time to greet and meet their first Pokemon.

In Bonnie's opinion, the graduation party was part of the academic experience, so of course, she was out there with the best and wildest. Even dorm mate #1, who shall now be known as Kelley Joyce, graced the festivities with her presence. Although, being of her peculiarly... not crazy character, she spent most of it watching everyone, including Bonnie, go forth with their crazy (and bad) ideas and making snide remarks. She certainly earned the nickname Bonnie would tease her with at times: "Kelljoy." Then there was dorm mate #2, who was nowhere to be seen. Apparently, she had a promise with her club to do... something during the New Year party. She didn't reveal what it was, though, but considering that she and her club mates were very much in the mold of the traditional Cobalion... Kelley had to convince Bonnie to not go hunting after their other dorm mate, a challenge that she thankfully won.
Therefore, with the helpful guidance of Kelley, something which she shouldn't have needed since Bonnie didn't drink a single drop of alcohol but ended up requiring anyways, Bonnie managed to survive the night. Bonnie didn't need alcohol. A wild atmosphere alone and a copious amount of coffee that she had chugged at, surprisingly, Kelley's request right as the festivities were beginning (suppose Kelley this was Kelley's preferred method of entertainment in a party, watching Bonnie go crazy even as she stood by to make sure she didn't go too crazy), was enough to bring out the best(? worst?) in Bonnie. Sure, she had clambered upon a clearly off-limits statue and played king of the hill with some other Cobalion students. There was also that time when she and Leon, a friend who had a penchant for encouraging wild Pokemon to do what he wanted, started a Pokemon battle with two street Rattatas that were having some dispute or another and agreed to the trainer interference to help settle it. The battle somehow managed to get a bit out of hand and the cops ended up being called, which led to Bonnie, Leon, and Kelley all skedaddling. Leon had to be supported by the two girls, as he was drunk as all hell, and Kelley ended up leading everyone to safety because Bonnie was laughing too hard to tell if she was going in circles or not. See, this is why Bonnie and Kelley were friends. Both enjoyed watching incredible antics. Although, Bonnie just sort of enjoyed a lot of things whereas this was a specific past time Kelley enjoyed, so Kelley got a package deal with Bonnie. Kelley got someone who enjoyed watching alongside her as well as someone she could enjoy watching. Anyways, in crazy times like these, Kelley was a godsend. She managed to keep Bonnie, Leon, and the rest of their entourage of familiar and unfamiliar faces they had picked up along the way safe despite the hard partying.
Of course, they were still partying, just with some safety precautions, which meant that all parties involved in Bonnie's little antics returned to their dorms no earlier than the wee hours of the morning. Bonnie and Kelley were in their beds at about 5 in the morning. For Kelley, this was fine. In preparation for the night, she had slept for most of the preceding day. She would take a short nap to refresh for the graduation ceremony and then take another nap after the ceremony to fix her sleeping schedule. Bonnie made no such precautions. Bonnie was still sleeping soundly in bed at 7:15AM, with her dorm mates standing besides her.
Responsible Kelley pointed out, "If we don't wake her up soon, she's going to miss the ceremony."
To which the stricter second dorm mate, now named Yuki, responded, "Eh. Let her, she needs to learn. We've already tried waking her up and she's still sleeping." In addition to being a purist battler, she was a part of Cobalion's growing breeding program and had a rearing philosophy of live out your mistakes and learn from them,
Kelley made another point, "You speak all high and mighty just because you came in earlier than us, but need I remind you that you only woke up a few minutes ago, yourself? And only because I woke you up, as well?"
"Erk," was all the strict, motherly figure could say.
Before a comeback could be made, a loud, "Yoooooooooooo!" was heard from outside. A male's voice, followed by a few other voices of various genders all basically calling out for the three girls inside and asking them what the hold up was, that they were running late, etc. etc.
The fact of the matter, as Kelley stated it, was, "Look. We've got no time. C'mon. Help me pick her up.
"And her clothes?" the other girl asked, even as she helped Kelley pick Bonnie up.
"They're fine," Kelley revealed all of her little preparations, "See? She didn't even change into her pajamas. Knew this was going to happen, so I made sure she didn't get her clothes too dirty and kept her from drinking any alcohol so she doesn't smell too bad either. I've got some grooming tools in my bag, too, so we can fix her up during the ceremony. Not like there's anything better to do during those dreary speeches, after all."
Bonnie mumbled something indistinct in her sleep as she was carried outside.
The assorted gaggle of students outside, if their clothing choice was excluded, actually didn't look much better than Bonnie. Kelley and Yuki, both by virtue of Kelley's efforts, were definitely the only ones that didn't look like the just tossed on some graduation-appropriate clothing and rolled with it. Upon meet-up, there was a flurry of several different conversations, made no simpler by the sleeping Bonnie and the question of what to do with her. In the end, Bonnie did wake up before the group started moving, and with a lot of help, she managed to walk herself to the venue. She was prodded to her seat by the collective effort of her friends, and like a good student, she tried to stay awake through the entire ceremony.
Not even two minutes in and she was asleep again. Dreary speeches, lack of sleep, and an altogether boring atmosphere together was an amazing lullaby. Luckily, Cobalion allowed free seating this year and Bonnie was a small one, so with some strategic placement of one or two of the taller friends, who didn't seem to mind as everyone was sitting together, anyways, she was hidden from the view of the faculty. In these conditions, the four hours of boredom was actually beneficial. It meant more shut-eye time for Bonnie, during which Kelley and quite a number of other bored students used Bonnie as a living doll, playing with her hair and drawing on her with the stuff Kelley brought. This wasn't what they usually did in their spare time, but heck if anything didn't seem fun during this boring of most boring graduations. As the speeches came to an end, though, Kelley shooed everyone's hands away from Bonnie and quickly cleaned her up and made her look presentable for the walk to the stage so that deep sleeper Bonnie and anyone not present during the silent antics would be none the wiser as to what was going on.
This time, when Bonnie was nudged awake to get ready for the walk across the stage, she was quick to respond. Her eyes opened blearily and she let out quite a big yawn, but she was up. After hearing what was about to happen, she was more than eager to be awake, shaking her head to get the quite large vestiges of sleep out of her mind. Kelley abruptly stopped the shaking by holding Bonnie's chin firm so she can roughly wipe the sleep off of her face with a wet tissue.
Someone else seated right behind Bonnie leaned over and whispered, "So I wonder if your parents saw your asleep?".
"Oh god," was Bonnie's honest response as she turned in a hurry to scan the crowd of parents before remembering, "Oh right. Psh. They're not here. Mom couldn't get today off from work. Dad is at my older brother's graduation since it's only fair."
By about now, the students were expected to leave their seats to form the graduation line, which was in alphabetical order. This meant the splitting of most of the group. Some wished each other luck, others just left without a word, whether it was because they expected to see each other after the ceremony or because they didn't believe in goodbyes. Bonnie was one of the good wishers, and hugging everyone who would let her. Then she went to the back of the line with fellow V-surname and friend, Victor Valentine. Taking advantage of being friends who stood in line next to each other, Bonnie and Victoria spent their time chatting while waiting for the line to move slowly up. It was pleasant chatter, Victor was a chill dude.
Then, finally of finally of finalliieeess, it was the end of the line's turn. Victor received his package of graduation and then left the stage with no further ceremony or picture taking by parents. Next up was Bonnie, who all but skipped up the stage, had to hold back from huggin each of the lecturers she thanked, and was bouncing when she received the package. Faster than the efficient but stately Victoria, Bonnie actually did skip off the stage.
With the rest of the students, Bonnie found herself being funneled to room 108 for the post-ceremony party, with no hope of escape. Well, not like she wanted to escape either. Good food was a good time and good times made good first impressions. Besides, this was Cobalion. She couldn't be the only one raring to quickly get to know her Pokemon and then jump right into a fight with another recent graduate. Friendship, care, and camaraderie were all important parts of a trainer's relationship to their Pokemon, but as a trainer who intended to competitively battle, a quick fight right off the bat didn't strike Bonnie as an odd early step to forming a bond with her first partner.
With no parents to greet and much too eager to sleep, much less eat, Bonnie was among the first of many trainers who found themselves a nice empty space in room 108 to release their Pokemon. Bonnie would have fumbled through her package for her Pokeball... if she had anything to fumble through. However, it turned out that whoever had set her up had given her nothing but paper coupons. <Interesting,> Bonnie thought about it optimistically, <They'll be worth it later, and now I know for sure what I'll need to do at first, work for some money for the basics that I don't have.> Anyways, her Pokeball was easy to find, and as she had not yet decided on a nickname for Heracross, she sent her out with a generic, "Alright Heracross, it's nice to meet you."

Whatever Bonnie and her gang was pulling would have been problematic to them in the past. The school used to be very strict on this kind of stuff, even delayed their students' graduation for a few weeks just to make a point. To the Cobalion delayed gradautes, that was the most painful penalty to their career, even worst than an one year detention. If they were to be held back for one year, at least they would be starting the career at the same day as the class of trainers next year. A one month delayed graduation meant they were at a distinct disadvantage against their peers. That tradition lasted for a while until eventually they learned that move did not benefit the school one bit. They were screwing with their graduate's career, thus the name of their school, for doing so. Furthermore, it did not change the student at all when they were out there anyway.
Thus, the school has learned to bat an eye, no matter how much that pain the current headmaster, who was as strict and formulae as a human could be. When he was a trainer long time ago, he was associated with Klink the most for his systematic, clockwork style of approach in his training and battling. Now, the grumpy old man was still a stickler for rules. Anyone who ever has had his class would testify to that with his life, but at the graduation day, he has to swallow his pride for just a few hours. He certainly felt like he was giving a speech to a hall-sized bedroom, but eh, what else could he do? He did took some advantage in the giving of package, whispering something to any student he noticed. For instance, Bonnie was given "I see you sleep over there, consider this a one time pass." instead of a regular congratulation. That did not change Bonnie's mood one bit though, as the girl skipped down the stage in the same way she skipped the first half up there.
Well-rested and fueled by her joy, the girl sent her starter out. A Heracross. Or THE Heracross, if she were to buy into her assigned professor's hype of this Pokemon. The Pokemon materialized from the blindling light, back to Bonnie, like she has seen too many times in all the pictures in the file. The Heracross was slow to adjust to the new environment, it looked around the wide horizon of people and Pokemon, feeling like she was back to the ranch again, or maybe she was? Then, she heard a voice behind her, full of enthusiasm. He-ra-cross, that's her right? Not like she understood too much of humantongue but that was the name people always mentioned when talking about her.
From Bonnie's point of view, the Heracross was pretty cute for her species. Unlike all the Heracross she has seen in her life, mostly from TV except the few occasion that a live Heracross was present in her classes. She was small, with a cutesy little horn that was clearly still in a growing stage and she looked as mini as the species could be. Then, the Heracross turned around, and oh what fresh hell was that? The frontal part of the Heracross's body was full of...cracks?! Those cracks did not look like anything threatening to the Heracross' well-being, no blood or anything but cracks, yeah. Furthermore, there were a lot of white spots spreading around her body. Most of them were round in shape but some were weirder than that. It somehow reminded her of vaseline, the color particularly, the texture she woudl only find out by touching it later. That was aplenty to deal with but that was not all of it. Her arms - now Bonnie recalled the pictures were hiding that too - were "anorexically" thin and the standard double plating on some part of her arms were either invisible to fair eyes or nonexistent as of yet.
The Heracross with deformed body waved on her teeny tiny arms upon turning back and saw you calling for her. She looked happy, not in pain or anything, as she took a few steps to come closer to you. She looked up at Bonnie, studying her.

Bonnie was so super excited, but she was also nice. She let the little Heracross with her itty bitty horn take in her surroundings and called it only once, containing the rest of her excitement by just barely not bouncing in place.
Bonnie had expected the unexpected. Although, to be honest, she was almost 80% certain that the Heracross was just camera shy, which was a little problematic for her dreams but still perfectly fine in her books. She did not, in any way, expect the deformities. At least, not to the extent she saw. If it was just teeny tiny arms, then Bonnie would have instantly seen the silver lining. The Heracross was still growing and while it looked a little unhealthy, it was also kind of cute! If it was just the cracks or the vaseline-like spots, Bonnie would have been a little worried over the Heracross's well-being in battle, but would be certain that she would find something that would work. Seeing cracks in the armor, vaseline-like spots, and unhealthily skinny arms all at once, though? Bonnie was frozen in shock with a smile on her face. First of all, <I didn't think anyone, even Professor Perez, could possibly miss something, no somethings, this big.> Worry quickly followed, <The Heracross isn't sick, right? Those white spots, they look like they're some sort of weird mold? And are young Heracross supposed to have stunted arm growth and cracked armor? Oh no. I'm not qualified for this.> However, the ever confident Bonnie was just as quick to pick herself out of the pit of worry, <No, it's okay. I'll just take things one at a time. If I can't figure it out, then I'll see what the Pokecenter has to say. I'm sure I can bring the best out of this Heracross and we'll work on whatever this is together! Right, finding something to help my Pokemon with so quickly isn't a bad thing. It's just bad that it had to happen to the Pokemon in the first place. Although, she doesn't look very sad about it. She doesn't seem to mind at all, in fact.>
The final result of the stream of thoughts that flowed through Bonnie while she was frozen in shock was a beaming smile. How the Heracross looked did make her feel a little uncomfortable, but she thought about everything else that drew the Heracross to her, the Heracross's little mother personality and her overall cuteness. Not to mention, Bonnie had found something new, the Heracross's own beaming smile, so happy despite the shape her body was in.
Kneeling down to eye level, Bonnie cooed, "Well, aren't you a cute little one?". She had to catch herself from beckoning for a hug. It wasn't a good idea considering the Heracross's body. It looked like it could be a lot more fragile than Bonnie accepted. Also, while super accepting, Bonnie did like to avoid ruining her clothes and she wasn't sure if the white splotches were as oily as they looked. Instead, Bonnie just beckoned with both hands for the Heracross to come closer and gave the young critter a good rubbing pat on the head if she did come closer. That was with one hand. Bonnie's other hand very gently touched one of the strange markings. All the while, she watched out for the horn. Small as the Heracross;s horn may be, it could still gouge out an eye.

As much as Bonnie tried to dig deep into her mind on all that she learned in the biology and medical classes she had taken in his curriculum, none of them had something as specific as what she was diagnosing right now. She recalled something about crackling armors but those were post-battle wounds on Pokemons like Aron, Rhyhorn, Squirtle and many others with nature-born plating. None of them related to growing up with a cracked armor and how to take care of that. You would think Cobalion would have covered that in their breeding classes and maybe Pokemon Caretaking kind of classes, but the school did not put too much effort into those classes, not even when they have their own sport-breed-oriented breeding program. Cobalion College just was never that good in these subjects and it seemed like they just refused to get good in them because they were closely related to Terrakion. It could just be a conspiracy theory but the fact remained that they sucked at nurturing classes. So no, Bonnie has not learned too much about whatever diseases that a baby Mon might be facing and notes to take care of them when they were young and likely vulnerable.
The same thing could be say to the arm. Although like the horn, it could just be growing, at least that's the answer from her instinct at the moment. The white spots...only a doctor could tell. The Heracross did not press the issue -- "the issue" being her body toward Bonnie. Maybe she has learned about not sticking her body at any human in the ranch? Instead, the girl just stood there and smiled with her eyes closed as she received her rubs. The Heracross also seemed to understand her horn was the most dangerous part of her body and kept it standing firm and still, away from anything it might hurt.
Upon touching one of the spots, Bonnie felt that it was not as oily as she would suspect and aside from a slight flinch by the initial touch, the Heracross did not look too hurt from that. However, that spot was quite soft and Bonnie has a feeling that she could break it if she would apply pressure at the spot. Her four years of Pokemon knowledge told her to not do that though, it was unlikely anything good would come from doing that. Swiping on the spot once again, Bonnie found that it felt quite similar to the healthy part of her carapace on touch, except it was only half-hardened. There was no liquid leftover on her fingers.

<A developing shell? Maybe molting?> Bonnie guessed wildly and randomly as she rubbed her notably clean fingers together. Upon feeling nothing slimy or oily and seeing no liquid leftover on her fingers, Bonnie no longer minded pulling the Heracross into a complete hug. At least, she wouldn't have if she hadn't noticed the Heracross flinch at the touch. Until she knew what exactly the problem was and how it should be handled, Bonnie didn't want to overly irritate the marked parts of the Heracross's body by excessive contact.
She never did stop giving the Heracross's a good head rub while thinking and observing, and upon noticing the patient girl's careful posture and distance, Bonnie praised her, "Heheh. You're very considerate aren't you? Good girl, and thank you." Bonnie gave the Heracross one last, vigorous rub on the head before standing up. "Hmmm," she thought aloud, "You know, I was really eager to meet you and get into our first battle together against one of my friends, but right now, I think I'll be too worried to fight properly..." Her words trailed off of the rest of her thoughts retreated into her head.
Sure, Bonnie didn't know anything, but that wasn't the end of the world. She'll surely find out what she needed from the Pokemon Center, and once she learned, then she just needed to apply it. Simple. Optimistic Bonnie remained worry-free. After a short pause, Bonnie suddenly decided, "Hm... Okay, bear with me now. I think I know what to call you now, but I need to look it up first. In the meantime, should we go to a Pokecenter together? Let's get you checked out, so I know how to keep you healthy and happy." She retrieved the Heracross's Pokeball from whatever convenient location she had lost stored it in and held it out with a curious look. She wanted to know how the Heracross felt about the Pokeball. Normally, Bonnie would make the Heracross travel in it regardless, especially after catching more Pokemon, but for now, she was letting her choose.

The Heracross clearly enjoyed whatever you were doing to her. She let out some low hissing sound as you continued to stroke her head with love. Though she was not sure if the posture was worth praising. She has been told about posture since her day one in the ranch and so it came as something normal for her to do so instead of something she has to specfically do. She listened attentively as Bonnie mentioned battle and worrying about her. She shook her head upon hearing that she was worry about her fighting properly. She was a fan of helping people and Pokemon but she has been trained to battle in the ranch too, like every Pokemon in the ranch really. Training with her fellow Pokemon was as enjoyable as relaxing with them.
She went straight to the Pokeball and pressed the button to absorb herself right back into it. Maybe she did not know there was a choice there, or maybe she really liked staying inside her Pokeball? Bonnie could not tell in their first day together but maybe one day she would understand the Heracross enough to do so. Either way, Pokecenter's the location and heading out of the school would be her first step.

With the Heracross stowed away safely inside her Pokeball, Bonnie safely stowed said Pokeball into one of the little holsters on her pouch that most trainers used. She gave the ball an affectionate pat, very pleased with all of the little Heracross's reactions. The two still had a long way to go, but the beginning looked good at least. Before any of the other trainers could make eye contact with her and challenge her to a battle, Bonnie slipped out of room 108 and bolted for the Pokecenter. It wasn't like she was out of time or anything. She just had too much energy to not run towards her future as fast as possible.
Pokecenter and... a job. Bonnie was definitely going to need a job. As she ran, she made a shopping list, an admittedly expensive shopping list, <A good start is a secret to success, and that starts with feeding the Pokemon right. A cooking set comes first. A poffin maker is a staple for any contest goer. Oh, before that, though, I'll need healing items and pokeballs if I want to start seriously taking trainer assignments. A First Aid Kit might also save my life.> This was all stuff Bonnie had researched and planned beforehand. How could she not when she was a Cobalion? Of course, maybe a true Cobalion might have been cursing their rotten luck at getting none of the ideal start from their graduation package, but Bonnie had lost too many times to be phased by this little setback. Besides, the coupons would simply grown in value that more she grew. It was yet another thing to look forwards to.
Right now, though, she needed that job, and before that, she had already reached the gates of her college. No matter what kind of rush Bonnie was in, she could always appreciate the past and the memories it had given her. Bonnie stopped at the gates. She paused to turn and look at the campus she had spent the last four of her school years in. A breath in to take it all and a breath out for the future that was to come. She imagined that her sister and brother were doing the same at their own school gates... "Eheh," she laughed to herself, <Or maybe it's just me who's getting all fuzzy and excited about this.> Indeed, Bonnie made a few bounces in places, but no, she could still imagine her siblings doing something similar. After all, all three of them really wanted to work with Pokemon, whether it was out of love for Pokemon, in pursuit of artistic expression, or in search of their own style. Whatever the case, Bonnie looked forward for when the three would cross paths. Did that mean she was going to call them?... Eh. Maybe later. It could wait.
She would dash for the Pokemon Center after reminiscing, but she had paused long enough for anyone to catch up to her. Barring any encounters at the gate, though, she wouldn't stop again until she walked (she wasn't actually athletic enough to run the entire way) through the doors of the nearest Pokemon Center.

12:40PM, Day 1, January 1090
Bonnie sprinted out of the college gate as fast as she could be, too happy to slow down and relax. Even in her gumption, the girl took some time at the gate, knowing that she was going t step out of the college gate for one last time in a very long time to come.
Now basking in the warmth of the spring sun, Bonnie continued her run to the Pokemon Center. She knew her way to the Pokemon Center well, a place she had visited more than a couple times in her classes. The air was a little chilly in the dusk of winter, but that was just right for Bonnie. She ran, keeping her body warm in the second day of spring. The city would be quiet if not for the lunch hour. A lot of people in office wears scattered around the streets, most of them in group, chatting. Some of time certainly looked like they enjoyed today. Much like Bonnie, post-New Year Monday blue did not strike them. Or maybe it did, but the girl was just too happy to percept sadness at the moment. Everything just looked bright and happy to her.
Like wind, Bonnie rushed past all the people in her way, heading to the southwest part of the city. Though her stamina did not carry her all the way, even in her best mood ever, she has to stopped to catch her breath only about half way there. As if the world was there to taunt her, she stopped just besides the West Aerawatch City Train Station. Once upon a time, the city train was there to show off the technology advancement of the region. Whether that was a noble goal or not, the technology certainly helped people around the city to travel to other section of the city in the shortest time possible. She would likely be around the Pokemon Center by now if she would have taken that but eh, not like that even came close to her mind just now.
After a brief rest, the girl was on the road again, sprint when she could and walk when she slowed down. The southwest part of Aerawatch was pretty quiet at this time of day. Primarily a housing district, shops were scattered and few. Most people were out of their house by now and had not much of a reason to go back home at this time of the day. Most of the pedestrians on the road were elderly taking a stroll around the block. According to one of her professors, the Pokemon Center was built around this part for this exact reason. The lack of traffic ensured that the patient of whatever accident could reach there with ease. It being close to the housing also made people taking their Pokemon pet for check up easier.
The Pokemon Center soon came into her view. Picking up her pace for the last time, she entered into the electronic door. Inside was a familar view to her. Nothing much really changed since her last visit here. There was even a chance that the working nurse by the reception desk might remember her. The corridor was rather empty, only a few people sitting on the scattered benches. The most interesting among them was a little girl playing with her Fennekin. None of your fellow graduates were here and the reception desk has an empty queue.

The train? Psh! Who needed the train? Okay, Bonnie was just refusing to acknowledge that she may have forgotten the train in her excited rush, but that was normal, right? People forgot about the train in the city they've lived in for the past four years aaallll the tiiiiimmmeeee, and it was definitely common for Cobalion students to forget just how far the all-important Pokemon Center was. Yes. Yes. Exactly. Anyways, that's all in the past. Bonnie made it to the Pokemon Center in one piece. She walked in and looked around. A cute Fennekin! Oh, and people, but Bonnie resisted the magnetic pull the Fennekin, like most other Pokemon, drew upon Bonnie so she could resist the pull towards the people, regardless of who they might be. Much more important matters. She had her own Pokemon now, so she needed to put her first, but first... the details of this Center. Maybe she actually noticed something that would draw her attention.

Even to her surprise, Bonnie actually knew something about the City Train and that's because of the science lecturer. Science was never directly related to Pokemon training but that did not stop the school from putting generic science was an essential class in Cobalion. No one really knew why. The most common theory being that it was an informal agreement between the school founder and the city government to increase science awareness. Anyway, it was an essential class, taught by the very passionate Miss Vartabedian. Normally, Cobalion students could care less about classes that are not related to Pokemon but most of them eventually succumbed to the boundless passion of Miss Vartabedian. Vartabedian was a special case among the lecturers. She has minimal experience in Pokemon and was hired largely of her science expertise. As an Aerawatch native, the lady loved everything Aerawatch, and that includes the Cobalion College. No surprise, she knew a lot about the City Train...although Bonnie could not recall a full lot of them. She did remember that the City Train was the first train in Varius. It was run on eletronic now after several revamps but it used to be a steam train. At that time, it was a technology marvel and a tourist attraction. Now, it was merely a public transport for the citizen and remained the only city train in Varius. Yes, even the capital did not have a city train.
Bonnie tried her best to recall any familar face in the Pokecenter but no onereally came to mind. To be fair though, she really only knew those who were or are currently at B rank and above. Like any sport, only the higher ranked tournaments were televised regionally and only the A and S tournaments reached international TV. The lower ranked tournaments were only availble to the hardcore Pokemon sport fans with season pass and subscription. The season pass gave access to every tournament available so to those who could not get enough of the sport, it was a good deal. Most people just stick to normal TV though. All four schools have the season pass for free but Cobalion has this special rules of prohibiting their students from tuning into the lower-ranked tournaments. The faculty, of course, did not have this restriction. In fact, the professors were encouraged to watch those so they could review how's the newer classes of graduates were doing there. As for the students, the school did not want them to learn bad habits from the lower ranks. True to their elitist nature, they felt the lower-ranked tournaments would only teach their students bad habits and the competitors in these ranks, even their own, did not deserve to be studied. So, Bonnie has near zero knowledge of the newer fields. There might be a younger trainer in the Pokecenter.
Bonnie knew there was a notice board by every Pokecenter where trainers get to post their stuffs, like trade request for example. Though she was not sure if "job" was something there. She could definitely check out the board later. Bonnie paid extra attention to the Fennekin but saw nothing unusual about the Pokemon. It was as cute as a Fennekin could be and it looked cheerful at the moment. Bonnie ain't an expert in the field but the Fennekin did not look sick at all. The only thing Bonnie picked up from observing the Fennekin was that it has a tag wrapped around her neck, so likely a pet.

Nothing of super interest. That was okay with Bonnie. After all, it was just strange to walk through every door expecting some grand new plot hook to lay behind it, and while Bonnie was strange in some ways, she was not that strange. She went about her normal business in the normal PokeCenter and walked up to the front desk. "Excuse me," she asked, "I would like for my Heracross to get a check-up. I just received her today, and she appears to have a few conditions that I'm not familiar with."

The nurse greeted Bonnie with a big smile and a slight bow. She was not one that Bonnie has seen before working in this Pokemon Center. "Welcome to Pokemon Center, how can we help you today?" A formal greet, likely required by all the nurses here. "I see. If you are a new Pokemon trainer, congratulation and please show me your trainer license for registration. Oh, also pass me your Pokemon in their Pokeball so we can check up on them. The initial checking isn't too long, ten minutes at most, so please have a seat and wait after the registration." The nurse said as she worked on the mouse. A few clicks and there in between her talk, followed by some keyboard buttons as she patiently awaited for the girl's license.

Bonnie obediently handed her license to the nurse as well as the Pokeball with Heracross within. "Umm... Uh... Just to be sure," Bonnie tries to squeeze in a little more information, "To be exact, my Heracross seems to have some weak, white spots on the front of her body, and her arms are very tiny. She's young, so I wasn't sure if this is all just part of her growth or... so... Yeah! Yep!". At first, she wasn't going to say anything and just let the nurses do their job, but of course Bonnie changed her mind about that.
After the nurse took Bonnie's Heracross our of her hands, she spent the first few minutes quickly googling, "Japanese broken pottery gold," on her phone to find the name that she had promised her Heracross earlier. "Kintsugi," she discovered, rolling the name off her tongue. Three syllables. She preferred nothing more than two to make it easier to call out orders, so a nickname was in order, "Tsuki? Kin? Kintsu? Tsugi?". There were several possibilities. She'll think of those later.
After finding the name she would give to her Heracross, Bonnie probably still had some time to burn. She put her phone away and looked through the Pokemon Center's notice board for anything she might be able to do.

The nurse did everything she was set to do: checking Bonnie's license, entering the data and did an initial scan on the Pokeball on by the six-slots machine just right by her side. The nurse looked satisfied with the result though Bonnie felt she kind of did not listen to her while working on those things. "Don't worry, miss. We will get them checked on. A routine check is about 10 minutes so please, have a seat. We will call you by name on the counter." And just like that the nurse turned wand walked straight into the door behind her, leaving the counter empty for the moment. Bonnie took a seat on one of the empty ones, searching the internet for a proper name for her Heracross. The lobby of the Pokecenter has been quiet so far and the loudest was still the girl with her Fennekin and even then the little girl was well-behaved. The occasional noise was just her playing with her Fennekin and chuckling here and there. It did not take too long for Bonnie to come up with result and satisfaction. The attention then came to the notice board, which upon a closer inspection, was bigger than she imagined. As the notice board was a free for all for everyone out there, with some note paper and pens by the side for ease of use, it was an unorganized to say the least, even "chaotic" would be an appropriate word here. There were notes stacking over other notes and the only way to read them was to flip the one above over, coupling with the disorientation and the girl was progressing slower than she would. Through her initial scan, she found absolutely nothing about job. She flipped around to see those that was hiding underneath, still not anything with job. There were some possibilities on the upper part of the board but the girl's height just was not sufficient to reach that part. Most notes were left by high-level trainers, either recruiting for partners for team battle or their group of trainers(like guild) or trade request for Pokemon -- the fully evolved kind. As she was still scanning, and there was plenty more to go, her phone rung and vibrated. ‹ Kelley (423) 218 1594 >> Where r u?~ Want to travel together? TODAY, 12:58 PM

"Bonnie Versa, please come to the counter." Before she was able to take her phone out, she was called first by the nurse, same one as just now.

Her phone vibrated, but that could wait for later. "Yes!" Bonnie answered from the notice board and ran-walked to the counter. Upon reaching the reception desk, she answered quite loudly, "Bonnie Versa here! Is my Heracross's checkup done? What are the results? Is she alright? Will she need any special treatment or precautions?".

Bonnie certainly did not see the Heracross's Pokeball with the nurse when she approached the counter. The nurse waited for her to finish before replying. "The doctor wants to talk to you. Please head to room 105." The nurse extended her open palm to the long corridor to Bonnie's right.

Oh. Well, that was foreboding, made no less foreboding by the absence of her Heracross's ball. Bonnie' smile didn't drop, but it did freeze. Still, worries aside, the best thing, or rather the only thing, she could do now was follow the nurse's instructions. Remembering to remain chipper and keep up a bright outlook, Bonnie gave a vigorous nod followed by, "I see. Thank you very much!". <Whatever may come,> she reminded herself as she walked to room 105 as she had been directed to, <I'm in it to win it.>
If 105 looked like it was going to be far enough away, Bonnie would try to check her phone to see why it had buzzed earlier. She'd read the text, time allowing, but she wouldn't keep the doctor waiting. When she reached the door, she entered the room and... did whatever it was that was expected of her to get the ball rolling.

Bonnie remembered her time around the Pokemon Center well enough to know that there was a fair distance to cover before room 105. The hallway started with room 101 and logic would indicate that room 105 would be close enough...but no. Most people, if they had the chance to enter the doctor's room one time - Bonnie did, multiple times throughout the four years - were impressed by how spacious the room can be. The floor plan organizer might as well be a magician. Bonnie has learn enough about Pokemon to know that the room has to be huge for proper examination of large-sized Pokemon, the Steelix and the Gyarados of the world. Or at least there has to be a few rooms for those Pokemon. Room 101 happened to be one of them and it was quite a distance ot room 102 and Room 101 was the closest so the medical staffs do not have to carry a gargartuan beast for a meter longer than they have to, assuming emergency situation.
Bonnie certainly has time to do what she wanted with her phone. The hallway was quiet enough for her to take her time with the phone. Then, it was time to face whatever problem her Heracross has to deal with. She entered the room as the doctor just put the hand set of the fixed-line phone back to its default position. "Hello there, Bonnie, right? " The doctor asked, and would not speak again until Bonnie respond. The Heracross was sitting on top of the examination bed by the side of the room and she waved happily as she saw Bonnie walking in from the door. The Heracross was as cheerful as she was half hour ago.
The doctor was another new face to Bonnie, as if the Pokemon Center's staffs have completely rotated from the previous batch that she knew and had interacted with in the past. To be fair though, she - and her class - did not have much chance to interact with the doctors here. They were always busy with something and the nurses were knowledgable enough in helping them with practical training of Pokemon caretaking. The doctor in front of her was a bald man - Judging by his receding hairline, it might not be a fashion choice to go bald - with a lanky body. His face looked even more tiring than the nurse on the front desk. His eyebags were almost Pancham black, a clear sign of the consistent lack of rest this man suffered for quite some time.
As Bonnie responded with an affirmation, be it a "yes", "I am" or whatever, the doctor cut in and took lead of the conversation, not really caring if the girl has anything to say. "Okay, let's see what we have here in our initial diagnosis." The doctor took another short look over the bunch of paper before continuing, cutting into any inquiry if the girl decided to speak again. "Your Heracross is suffering from some kind of calcium abnormality, not deficiency but abnormality, and this is a rare symptom for any Pokemon to have. Deficiency would have been easier for me to explain everything you want to know. This, we will need further testing to give you an accurate answer." At this point, the Heracross decided to not sit by the side silently. She jumped down from the bed and came to Bonnie's side. The doctor glanced over the Heracross and decided to do nothing against that. The Heracross kept her posture for a safer environment and stood quietly besides Bonnie.
"Anyway, We will have to run a lot more tests to understand the whole situation. I know, I know, you Cobalion kinds are always so *freaking* impatient." Bonnie could see fire in the doctor's eyes, not literally, but she could felt the heat. "Oh, when will I get my Charizard back? Why are you all so slow here, I need to go out and catch more Pokemon?! Your people are horrible with your jobs." The doctor did a change of voice, mocking. "Yeah, I know, you freaking kind think the world revolves around you. I get that. Best Pokemon academy in the land. But, we don't have anything device in this particular Pokemon Center, not even in the city of science. So, we have a decision in hand, and please, consider the life of your partner." The doctor referenced his notes once again.
"Here's what we have on her so far. As I said, we are suspecting some kind of calcium abnormality here. That means your Heracross has the adequate calcium or other nutrients that might also the culprits in this situation, but her body does not know how to use it. As you can obviously see, her exoskeleton have these weird white spots and cracks. The white spots, based on what we have so far, are likely armor that are not completely formed. Those parts remain in their construction at the moment. The cracks, my guess are those edges did not grow well due to the same issue. Then, you have multiple edges and not a chance to connect to the other side of the skin and so they crack, eventually." The doctor did not mention her tiny and underdeveloped hands.
"So, decision. The way I personally recommend is we deliver her to the Tower of Babel for a thorough check. This will mean that you will not have her until tonight. The Tower of Babel agrees to do it because they are interested in her symptoms but they cannot give you a time as to when you will get her back. From my experience, not more than 24 hours. Alternatively, we can go through all the devices that might help over here. This will take only a few more hours but you will get her back early if you decided to go out and capture some Pidgey on your first day." Some additional mocking by the end of it. "Take your time to think, like Cobalion students ever take their time. I have no patient to keep waiting at the moment."

Bonnie did respond, exchanging a greeting and then giving an affirmative. There was no inquiry from her. She listened throughout the entire diagnosis and what could be done about it. When the Heracross came to her side, Bonnie did stroke her gently, glancing away from the doctor and to the Heracross every now and then to make sure her hands weren't touching one of the sensitive white blotches in her armor.
As the doctor started... mimicking the typical Cobalion student, Bonnie couldn't find anything to do but smile... with defeat... She even gave a guilty, "Ah... haha... ha... ha." She didn't want to admit it, but yep, that was a Cobalion alright. That was her. She was the impatient one. Maybe she wasn't that rude about it, but she couldn't deny that she wanted to go out there and catch 'em all as quickly as possible.
However, Bonnie could laugh at the description and accept it for what it was because she was willing to recognize that flaw in herself within the context of the current situation. It was apparent ever since the doctor expressed uncertainty about the true nature of the deficiency that time would be needed to come to a conclusion, time that Bonnie really didn't want to give up but also was willing to give up if it meant the health of her Pokemon. In a battle or any sort of competition, she could and would be as brutal as any Cobalion, willing to sue her Pokemon to their very limits but stopping just shy of the extremes embodied by taskmasters. However, outside of it, she wanted to raise and train her Pokemon to be the very best. Her took her a lot of time and effort to find recognition and a place of her own in the school. The virtues of patience were not lost on her.
"Pidgey might be nice...," Bonnie shot back at the doctor, the smile returning after having disappeared sometime in the middle his explanation. She didn't waste any time after the joke, though. The doctor was right, Cobalion students sometimes didn't know the meaning of the word "wait." Promptly, Bonnie answered, "I would like my Heracross to be seen at the Tower of Babel. Knowing my Pokemon is important to achieving any sort of win, and I plan to be the very best! But... Doctor, you've explained the condition of my Heracross's shell, but what about her arms? Are they just growing? Is this part of the calcium abnormality? Is this a genetic condition that I should start planning to train around?".
