"Wait, we're not close at all, are we?" Morgan says suddenly, having the distance from his final destination suddenly grow that much larger right before his eyes. His head hangs down neatly in despair. Oh curses! Why did he ever think that they were this close? Just like Lana, it would seem maps were not his forte. But, O. did seem to know what he was doing. They could probably just follow his route and be fine.
"Right, right then. Avoid the grass, keep to Gwyddel's Road. If we're lucky, we'll reach a town before nightfall, or at least find a cart of some sort. If not, we've already established that a goodly portion of our Pokémon is pillow shaped." He chirps. "Shall we get a move on?"

Maela didn't laugh at Morgan's comment about their Pokémon being pillow-shaped. She wanted to, but she didn't. "It does seem like we have a lot of fluffy Pokémon, don't we? Though I don't know how much they'd appreciate being used as pillows. Depends on how cuddly they are." Of course, that might leave poor Morgan with his lizards out of luck.
O. seemed like the one of them best acquainted with things like directions, so Maela was willing to defer to his expertise in the matter. "Keeping to the road seems pretty sensible. Heaven knows we'll have enough excitement, I'm sure." She took a deep breath and turned her face toward the road rolling out before them, taking a deliberate step forward. "Let's get going!"

The party thus began their journey towards Midvall. Once they got a fair ways away from Lornas the path got considerably more silent, with the occasional oxen caravan passing by. The sun went round the sky, marking the warmth as the party walked.

Morgan continued down the path with the others more quietly, his eyes drawn to the beauty of the far horizon. "This is such a beautiful kingdom when you get to know it." He though quietly, breathing deep of the bounteous air. Of course, this inevitably distracted him from his real duty of being a scout... Morgan rolls an 11 for Perception!

O glances around watching the wind flow through the grass, making it sway as if a sea. "I'll second that thought. I'm glad we get to see sights like this." O responded trying to keep half an eye on their surroundings, but the swaying grass, and clouds flying high above keep drawing his attention. I got an 8

Lana smiles at her friends' observations, wordlessly watching the fields herself for a few minutes as peace steals over her. It didn't feel like they were on some frightening journey when the world was this calm. She released Chlua again beside her, watching as the strange little pig nosed along the ground, gradually lagging behind. "Come on, girl," she mumbled, laughing a little and going to pick her newest pokemon up. Chlua seemed to have found a berry, much to Lana's delight... She jogs to catch up with the others, glancing around the fields as she goes. Pickup roll for the plains was a 9, waiting on determination of what berry it is! // found a Cornn Berry.
Intuition was a 10.

Maela found it a little harder to let her guard down and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Her family had always drilled into her that danger could strike at even the most peaceful moment in the hostile deserts and seas. It might not have been obvious to look at her, but beneath her calm facade she found herself glancing around warily. After a moment, she called out Clòimhe to flutter along next to her... though the way the little bat's fuzz covered her eyes, it was possible she wouldn't be the most use as a lookout. And the trouble with being paranoid was that she might be looking the wrong way when trouble did come. Intuition roll: 9

O. loosens the holdings on his spear so that it would be easier to retrieve if something was to attack them. As they were far away from any form of town their should be no metallic structures nearby. He also releases his new pokemon, Nimbus, now would be the best time to find out just what he could do in a combat situation. The little cloud zips around, a bit before floating just above O.'s head which would easily let him hide on any side of O. in a heartbeat.
He then speaks up to the others "We might have a little trouble coming our way, at least no civilians are nearby."

The flashing of lights and the rustling of bushes didn't bother Morgan all that much. At least, not until O. began to retrieve his weapon. It was then that he full realized that moving bushes and glimmers might be a dangerous thing. Ghastly! His hand clutched Fleur's prayer bead and the beautiful lizard of destiny skittered out the ensuing portal. "I don't think the Duke's men would be up this far into the country. But it doesn't hurt to be careful."
No breeze... But rustling... Aha! There!
"I think someone, or something might be hiding in the grass over yonder." He says with a whisper. "Shall I loose an arrow and find out?"

Maela looked around warily, but she couldn't quite see whatever evidence had O. and Morgan spooked. Still, she felt a little creeping chill down her spine, like there were eyes on her that she couldn't see.
"Not with an arrow," she whispered back. "They might just be curious. We don't want to provoke them or hurt someone innocent." Granted, it seemed unlikely that it was just some blameless fellow traveler, but if it was just a Pokémon minding its own business, shooting at it might start an unnecessary fight.
She took a cautious step towards the grass Morgan had pointed out, with Clòimhe fluttering just behind her shoulder. "Hello? Is someone there?"

Lana couldn't help but feel there was something out there, even if she couldn't see it herself-- a feeling that was increased only by the others' reactions. When Maela moved towards the grass, Lana raised her shield and stepped with her, ready to block something from leaping out if need be. Readied shield.

No one answers Maela's question. The wind picks up, making the grass rustle.
[You are about five meters away from the grass, Maela. Everyone else is around 7 meters away]

UUUGGGGHHHH
Whatever Amelia had eaten the night before, it wasn't helping matters at ALL today. Oh, sure, everything started OUT nice and cheery, with the bright young woman helping make sure everyone was up nice and early, but while they were bidding farewell to their instructors, a knot formed in the girl's stomach. Dismissing it as nerves, she thought nothing of it...Though the storm brewing in her insides was really, REALLY distracting her from the scenery(she had seen plenty of times before) and her friends' chatter. She did manage to release her newest partner - the little Totodile oh-so-creatively named Fang - after seeing the others prepare for whatever was happening right now...Oh, she should probably also get out Thorn. Yeah. The young woman did that, and while her grip was less steady than usual, it was still good enough for whatever beast lay in wait.
To the outside observer(i.e. everyone else), Amy did seem a bit off, with some sweat on her brow, unfocused eyes, and a touch of green on her face. Unusual, but nothing they hadn't seen before, given their years together. She would be fine in a little bit...Probably. She was only in bed for three days straight that ONE time, and surely it wouldn't happen again, right?

Morgan with a worried eye watches from the distance. He steps about two meters back from the action, wholly uninterested in finding out what kind of lurking menace lurks in the bushes. As someone who would normally be proud of his eyesight, the idea of something lurking he couldn't see was concerning. But he, an archer, was not fit to engage himself in direct combat. That was nearly everyone else's specialty.
And besides! He wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes, let alone Maela.
Nay! He was but a supporting character in this tale of beauty and beauties! But, just in case this tale of intrigue turned into a tale of valor... Well! Morgan knocked an arrow and waited!

"Lana. Get ready to jump in depending on what it is. I'm going to try to draw it out." O. says as he unfastens his spear completely keeping it held lightly up against his shoulder. He starts walking down the middle of the road getting closer to right across from where he saw the shine in the grass, prepared for whatever is in it to jump out and attack him.
As he walks forward he looks up at Nim still floating above his head. "Hey buddy why don't you float a little higher? He asks of the little cloud, which seems to nod its head as it flies another meter above his head. He looks back down at around the same time he finally pulls even with where the glint should be, tensing up in anticipation.

Lana grips her shield tighter. "Of course," she replies to O, before falling into step beside him, prepared to intercept if something came out to play. "Chlua, heel. Be ready for a surprise!"Lana stays a step behind O, and uses Shield Bearer to bind the readied shield's effects to him (+4 Evasion, 10 DR) and she'll stay with him if he moves.
Chlua trades in her baby food buff thingy and stays 2m behind Lana.

Maela shoots a look back over her shoulder at the others as the grass rustles. She was trying not to scare whatever was there into attacking, and an array of people and Pokémon preparing for battle is really not going to help with that. Still, she supposes it's good to be prepared, even if she's afraid it will undermine her efforts.
... Maybe she should have discussed this more with the others before trying to talk whatever was hiding from them into the open. Too late now.
She sighs and takes another few steps forward. She's best off at close range if it does come to a fight, anyway. "There's no need to be afraid. We don't mean any harm, at least not if you don't. Would you like to come out so we can talk face to face?"

The group approaches the tall grass carefully. They don't seem to hear a response to Maela's query. [O. and Lana, Perception test. Your position corresponds to the square with your text color, while Amelia is just flat out red. Please tell me the position of your pokemon using your trainer's square as reference. We are still in narrative time]

Just to the right of Morgan, Fleur stood passively admiring her pretty tail. Had it sprouted a new leaf today? Oh! It might have. She had been so beautiful since evolving. Morgan told her so every day. Which was funny, since he hasn't said that yet at all today. All he was doing was pointing his sillly shooting stick into the brush. Her eyes glanced further afield. Maybe she could see something in the bushes? Maybe. Grass-Types like her had a knack for things like that sometimes. But, she wasn't about to be helpful today, at least, not yet. No, she waited instead, a bit interested to see how the humans played this one out. She liked to think she wasn't interested, but she kind of was. Fleur was contrary like that sometimes. Placing Fleur one square east of Morgan for simplicities sake!
