Avani shuddered a moment, slowly sitting up with a wince as her paws moves to clutch her side that was attacked. It took her some time to process exactly what had happened, her senses knocked and dazed. She rose slowly back to her feet, lifting her head to listen to Desiree, or at least as much as the injured and in pain girl could focus on. "...You're friend said that Axiom doesn't know what she was doing..." she hissed a bit as a twinge of pain hit her as she breathed, "...You're no better right now. You do not understand what the world outside this temple has become..."
Her body shook, straining under more pain than her human mind could process though she forced herself to stay on foot. "Before you call us liars... why don't you go outside the temple and see for yourself... the technology, the land, perhaps even the remnants of the machine that was used to get inside in the first place..." she added, though every word she spoke was weak and soft. Part of her was worried if she was even saying anything at all or if it was all in her reeling mind.

Donovan winced before stepping between Avani and the Lucario, staring down the Fighting and Steel Type, before looking back at his companions "That's enough Desiree, don't make this any worse then I already have"
He turned back to the Lucario "If I wanted to lie, I'm sure I could make something up that's far more believable than the truth. Say that we've come from the other temples, formed an alliance against you. But the thing is, that would be nothing more than fiction. Fake. We're trainers, barely set out on our journey. For someone who got so righteous when I tried to spur your children to action, you sure didn't hesitate to attack one just now. One who did nothing but stand there at that."
He sighed, and took a few steps towards the Lucario, meeting her gaze once more "But that doesn't matter. I get it, you're mad and scared because Axiom took whatever was floating in the middle of the room. The thing you were supposed to protect. Well, hurting us won't help get it back. But we can travel to the other temples freely. We can try and stop her. I doubt you can do the same thing, even if you're so much stronger than us."
He gestured back at the other two "Look at us, we've nothing in common. Why would you think that someone sent us together? All of you are Fghting Types. I'm sure the others are similar. Why would we all be different?"
He finally stopped moving once he was directly in front of the Lucario. His legs still trembled but he stood strong in front of the seeming leader of the Fighting Types "Hit me if you want. It won't stop Axiom, and it won't get back what she stole. But we can help, if you let us"

"If you want to be treated with some respect," The Lucario yells back. "Then don't keep insulting the person that you're trying to talk to. And it's my duty to treat you like invaders. Because that's what you are. And I am currently the person with the most seniority here, so I am damn well going to make sure I don't make assumptions that could endanger everyone else in here. And that is why I attacked her. She is Audino. You may think I'm stupid, but I know that if I hit you, she'd just heal you."
"Why would you lie?" She asks sarcastically, "Well, I can think of about seventeen different reasons. If they're trying to increase their power, then they obviously wouldn't want me knowing it was them. Besides, the tale you tell is so fanciful, it could not possibly be true."
"But," the 'mon turns to Avani, "Very well. We will go to the entrance, and see what occurs there. Stay in front of me the entire way. I will warn you... do not try any funny business along the way. I only need one of you to question, after all. There's a bit of a pause. "It would be nice to see the sun again..." The last part is more of a murmur.
"Why would you be different?" She asks, as she gestures you towards the hallway you entered in, giving a laugh similar to the one Desiree gave earlier. "For all I know, we're not the first ones attacked. Or it could be some sort of coalition. But, if you're traitors to your own tribes, that makes things even worse. Even if not, you doubt my capabilities?"
"Answer me this, though." She continues, seeming to have calmed down a little. to a point where she's no longer yelling, at least. "You claim to be trainers. Why would you be on a journey? Surely you do not believe me to expect that your students go with you."

As Donovan listened to the Lucario, he realized just how different things must have been before the Temple was sealed "Err...sort of. They're less Students, more partners. We help each other grow stronger physically and mentally. But I guess it might be different then how things were before the Temples were sealed. Speaking of" He continued, moving the subject along "Can you explain a bit about how it was before?" His tone was genuinely curious and he looked up at the Lucario as he spoke "I'm sure it was very different then it is now, and it might help us understand your view better"

Respect? How about treating us like actual people in the first place? That's known as basic decency, Desiree thought but didn't say. She kept quiet even as the Lucario asked a question that could lead to some rather uncomfortable places. If Donovan couldn't come up with a good answer, she'd try to salvage things. It wasn't as if the Lucario was ever going to actually trust them anyway. When Donovan answered appropriately and changed the topic smoothly, Desiree felt relieved, though it didn't show on her face. She became a little curious in his line of questioning, but looked to the side so that the others wouldn't be able to see it in her expression.

Avani had drifted forward and back in her mind, piecing together the conversations slowly as they walked back towards the entrance. Though by the time a certain set of words came out from the Lucario a puzzled look crossed her face. "...I don't know how to heal anything, though... I don't know how to do anything special with this body..." she spoke weakly, her breath seeming to have settled as her body began to numb the pain. "Our part-...Ah!" she suddenly exclaimed, eyes wide with worry. "Ollie! Meek! Where did they all go? Were they left behind? What if something happened to them!?"

"How things were before the Sealing?" The Lucario asks, "We each lived how we wanted to. The occasional conflict happened, but, such is reality. Are things different now?" There's still a trace of sarcasm at question, as if she's still humouring some fanciful story.
"There are more of you?" she asks sharply at Avani's statement. While it's not much further to the entrance, the tone and the glowering from the Lucario - worse than any of the dark, wordless glances she gives you whenever you pass an unconscious Fighting Type on the ground - make it feel like it's quite a bit aways...

Donovan winced as Avani mentioned her Pokemon, as it seemed the Lucario had picked up on it as well "No, they didn't come with us. She speaks of the partners I mentioned before. Their names are Ollie and Meek. Desiree and I each have two as well. But they didn't enter the temple with us, or we would have known by now." He quickly added, trying to move away from the idea of them being somewhere in the temple
"Actually, we haven't introduced ourselves. I am Donovan, and my friends here are Avani and Desiree" He says gesturing towards the girls "In the chaos from before I never thought to ask your name either" He adds questioningly

Desiree was incredulous that Donovan could be so friendly to someone who had just harmed their friend. Not wanting to make things worse though, she continued to keep silent.

Avani returned to silence as well, focusing on numbing the pain that still ached throughout her body. Her gaze was focused forward towards the entrance, though worry for her Pokemon still welled up in her. What happened to them? Ollie was so hurt before, she needed to get him to a center as soon as she could... She winced a bit, clutching her side with a soft hiss. All this worry was just reminding her body of pain, she shuddered a little before regaining herself. It seems like Ollie wasn't the only one she'd have to take care of this time. She wondered just how bad her injuries would seem when they turn back into humans... they.. they would turn back, wouldn't they?

The Lucario seems to squint at Donovan, but makes no further comment about the possible presence of others. "I am Madine, daughter of Shala. Perhaps you have heard of me?" Her tone does not sound very hopeful, though.
Arriving at last to the entranceway, with the vast rippling wall visible in the distance, Madine stops by the body of the Machoke. She inclines her head downwards, touching a paw to the forehead of the fallen Fighting-type, before stepping back.
"Did you do this?" She asks in a low, threatening growl, turning to look directly at each of you in turn.

Avani clenched her fist with a look of rage crossing her face. "How dare you. I even spoke of seeing such horror, of how I wished peace for them, and now you ask if I had in any part of it? I don't even care if you hit me again for this, but... Fuck. You," she spat the words out through her pain, her body softening once more as her gaze fell back upon the fallen Pokemon. "...This is what I want to prevent her from doing more. No one deserves this, except maybe her herself..." she whispered afterward, a hand reaching out towards the fallen before retracting back with second thoughts. If only they had made it there sooner, would it have changed anything?

"Avani!" Donovan blurts out when she cursed at Madine.
"No, I haven't heard of you. And NO we didn't have anything to do with this" He emphasized the second no a little bit more, his voice shaking as they continued to stand near the corpse "We ran into one group when we entered, and while we did defend ourselves, we left them breathing."
He shook as he finished speaking "We would never do something like this."

Desiree didn't know whether to feel proud or ashamed when Avani swore at Madine. She hadn't meant to be a bad influence on the girl, though she did like the fact that she was standing up for herself. At this point, though she was somewhat indignant for Avani, Desiree wasn't even fussed anymore. She had expended too much energy being angry at Madine and the Lucario simply wasn't worth it. She shook her head. "There is being rightfully suspicious and then there is being paranoid. One of these is healthy, the other is not. As my friends said, we didn't do this. This was most likely Axiom at work." Desiree sighs, wondering just what kind of life Pokemon in the temples live to create such a person. "You said something about respect earlier. I will agree to treat you with respect, but only if you extend a little bit of it to myself and my friends too. Respect isn't simply given you see, it's earned, and so far you have done nothing to earn it." She looks Madine in the eyes. "I can appreciate your sense of duty, caution and what I imagine is your love for your family, as well as shock to see one of your own dead, but perhaps treating people who have so far done very little to earn your wrath like murderers isn't the best way to go about acting on those things, nor does it encourage much respect. Avani specifically mentioned seeing what had been done in this corridor, she even cried for it! I'd apologize for her language on her behalf, but I haven't exactly been keeping my language under control either.Desiree sighed again. "I feel like we aren't giving this Machoke much respect, fighting like this next to their body. Is it possible for us to start over? Please at least pretend that what we've been saying is the truth for now and see for yourself whether we are people of our word or not."Desiree's Charm: 16 (Spent 1 AP)

"Very well," Madine says, with a slight sigh. "I will be able to know soon enough." She stalks her way across the room, glancing darkly at the prone figures of the Pokémon you fought earlier, but proceeding to the far wall, which is still rippling. Tentatively, she reaches her paw for it, pushing outwards... and then it stops. She can't seem to pass through the barrier - it's as though the wall is still there. There's a look of frustration, as she tries again, and then a third time - almost punching the wall. And yet to no avail. She whirls around, before stalking forwards, towards you. "You lie!" she snarls, hands glowing with blue energy, the anger returning to her voice. "I have been played for a fool, and I do not intend for that to happen again! You spoke of respect, of being people of your words, and now this? You will pay for your insolence."MapPlace yourselves anywhere within 2m of the upper corridor.

Donovan's eyes grow wide once more as Madine returns to her previous state of rage. He begins to run as fast as his little legs will take him towards the door, but also the Lucario.
As he stops for a moment, he calls out to the far stronger Pokemon, desperation in his voice "Wait, please we really didn't know you couldn't go through it! Please believe me!"

Had Desiree been human at the moment, she would have gone slightly paler. Perhaps she did so anyway, but it can't be seen under all the fur. As it is, her eyes simply widen as Madine is stopped by the barrier. Oh no, is all she could think. From Madine's point of view she'd likely trusted them far too much already. It didn't seem as though she was going to listen to words any longer.
Desiree communicates as much to Donovan. "We have to show her we're telling the truth!" That said though, perhaps one last attempt won't go amiss. "Madine, would you let one of us leave the temple? We'll try to come back in with the remains of the tool that was used to gain entry. We didn't know you can't go through!"

Desiree and Donovan"Why would I trust you?" the Lucario snarls, "I will not allow you to attempt to pull off another trick. This ends now." She punctuates the last word with firing off another sphere of energy, striking Avani square in the chest. The form of the Audino falls down, slumping on the ground. There's a short moment of silence, before Avani vanishes, leaving no sign behind that she'd been there. "Wh-" Madine doesn't seem to be able to understand. She stares at the spot that Avani was, before whirling on Donovan and Desiree. "What. Are. You?"Avani Faints from Aura Sphere. MicaAfter waking up from the unpleasant sensation of the world going white, and having made sure that there were no lasting injuries to be concerned with, you've managed to make it to the top of the structure, where you first saw that strange bird land. It took a little bit to climb. Like a ziggurat, the building is formed of multiple platforms upon platforms, ascending towards the sky. And up the sides of the pure white stone structure... are a lot of stairs. And, thus, a lot of time spent climbing. But, now, you've finally made it to the top. And, unfortunately, there's no bird in sight. There is, however, something else that looks interesting. In front of you, probably twenty meters away, is what looks like a stone block with a carved archway into it. And the archway itself seems to be rippling, concentric circles flowing out from the center, stopping once they hit the edges of the carving. There's only a short time to take this in, though, before yet another strange sight occurs. A girl, her head framed in bright red curls, appears out of thin air, sprawled on the ground in front of you. At first it seems as though she might not be alive, but, after a moment, her eyes flutter open.

"...Hey!" Mica greets the prone girl from a position standing over her, behind her head. Mica didn't know the first thing about medicine, but she thought that the girl being alive was pretty great! "You doing alright? I was looking for a big metal bird, but I guess a cool ripple door and girls that appear out of thin air are a great find for the day!" Her attention turned back to the... what even is that? A portal? Some kind of cool waterfall? Without shifting her stance from the very close, borderline personal space violating proximity, she began to sketch it in a small flipbook.
"Look at the way it moves and shimmers, like you can SWIM IN IT! I wonder what it does?"

Donovan watches as Avani falls to the ground before disappearing, his mouth falling open as she goes. He begins to shake even more, before taking a few steps forward "What...what are we?" He shook his head and yelled back at the Lucario "We're just kids trying to show you how we got here and YOU KILLED ONE OF US!?"
He took a few more stumbling steps towards where Avani once stood before turning back towards the entrance "We never once attacked you, and only defended ourselves from the ones in this room, who we made sure were okay once we knocked them out. We tried our best to be reasonable, even when you attack Avani before. AND THEN YOU GO AND KILL HER? YOU'RE JUST AS BAD AS AXIOM!" He turns back to Madine as he shouts this, his eyes alight in anger
