Gunshow listened quietly and patiently absorbed all what Ghost friend had to say before absorbing the berry with his powerful maw. "I see." The Hughshow says, berry juice flying out in wild directions as he spoke. "The Three is attempting to shirk his duties! Bah! Does he not know a tiny creature like him needs protecting?"
Within the Engine, Hugh grimaced and attempted to untangle his thoughts from the Gunshow for a moment. It was just like the morning run all over again. Clearly, Evan was once again shirking his duties. They weren't here to make friends with these creatures. How could he make him understand that? These Pokémon, this mountain. It was all a challenge that needed to be overcome.
No matter! They would do this themselves, just him and the scientist. Hugh turned his mind back to the Gunshow and allowed himself to become tangled in his thoughts once more.
As for the Gunshow? His thoughts on the matter was that the berry was delicious! He swallowed it's battered remains before giving the small ghost a toothy, berry stained smile. "Thank you friend! It is good berry. I shall thank Three later as well." He smiled then, and leaned down upon his rocky foe casually. "Kiai told me a little. This place is Pinnacle Mountain, largest of the four mountains found in the Four Spires. Below is a pretty valley, and in that valley, there is a safe way of leaving the spires. But I do not know any other landmarks."
He folded his arms and thought for a moment. "We seem to know only a little about the surrounding area. While we wait for the Three, we should try to get to know the land and explore."

To Evan's keen social skills, Sheila has likely seen or heard more then she is letting on. "Odd that a body without life ssshould want food, but we know little of their waysss here." She commented keeping in 'stride' with Three. "Often when one comesss, disssassster followsss in it'sss wake." The Arbok left the warning hang on the air. "They anssswer to a dark one, who keepsss them clossse to Hisss breassst. They are not free asss we are."

Impressively, the specimen, whether because of its human operator or as an automatic process, had managed to replicate Hugh's characteristic... Eating patterns. Suppressing a wave of nauseous fascination, he figured that they would need more berries to be sure. More berries and less Hugh, to compare them properly... The Machoke's diet aside, Ulrich figured said 'tiny creature' knew full well the risks of eschewing Hugh's protection. He'd done so willingly though, so now it was best to observe the result. Of course, they couldn't do even that until they met back up, probably on the shuttle...
Arms folded similarly to its companion, betraying the same sentiment, the ghost bobbed lazily and answered, "Yes... If nothing else, learning the landmarks and hunting grounds and such should help navigation later. Well. The valley seems a good enough place to start... But that reminds me, how did you find traversing the mountains?"

That... did not bode well for Ulrich, Evan thinks. That's probably something he should tell the scientist later. Or not. It'll probably depend on how much condescension is pointed his way after disengaging from the engine. "Well," Evan says sincerely, with as much conviction as he can manage, "I hope that I never have to run into it again. I would be more than happy with that turn of events." He prepares himself mentally, before venturing, "I think that I can make it back to the barrows on my own. I'm sure it will be easier, especially since I know where to go. You should probably continue your hunt. There are more relying on you than just myself, after all."If need be, Charm: 20

"Yes. I must agree. The valley would be a wonderful place to start." Then, the conglomerate paused for a moment thoughtfully.
"I like the stones beneath my feet." The Hughshow answers candidly, stretching his muscular arms behind his head after he had swept away a swathe of berry juice. "On Gol, the ground did not feel so real such as this. The heavens were never so blue! The air here, it's like breathing again for the first time! the flowers, the bushes, the trees! Marvels all!"
Noisy guffaws escaped his maw, which led to brief choking, which led to the launching a large berry pit out of Gunshow's mouth and through Ulrichs ghostly form. Not one to waste food, the Gunshow walked over, picked up the pit and popped it into his mouth once more. He paused, before continuing to say, "It is truly a beautiful place to train and fight. I am happy to have such a place to finally test my magnificent strength!"
Destination chosen, he swept towards the valley with a twinkle in his eye. "Let us go, little Ghost friend. Adventure awaits us!"

Sheila considered Three for a moment, sympathy in her eyes. "Wheresoever you should wander, please do be careful. There are some things I cannot protect you from." Leaning in, she pressed her forehead against his and closed her eyes, butting in against the Dunsparce. "If you give me a day, I can have a bag fashioned for you that will make carrying food farther. I know one that can do such things with the skins my children shed."
After Three's answer, she at last departs for the hunt, and home.
Mica and her brothers remain where the Dunsparce had left them, though the younger Rockruff have been moved to a nearby crag to give them cover against the openness of the mountainside.
Despite Gunshow's 'gentle nudging' the rock snake Pokemon neither stirs nor answers, head trauma will do that. The vivaciousness and wonder that is the valley awaits. The Superpower Pokemon takes to climbing as Ulrich did floating. It is invigorating, the tug and stretch of those powerfully compact muscles effortlessly pulling his weight along. Descending a mountain is child's play. Conveniently when you stop searching for something, that is when it turns up. Gunshow and Ulrich happen across Three just as he's settling in with the Rockruff.

"I... would much appreciate that," he responds to the offer, with some surprise. "Your kindness overwhelms me. Thank you. Wherever I go, know that I will look back on this with fondness, and will make some effort to try and return." He bows his head, making sure to not displace the berries.
When he reaches the Rockruff, he breathes a sigh of relief. "Oh, good. You're safe. I was worried, since there is another huntress in the area, who would probably be more than willing to have you for a meal." He lets the berries roll in front of the others. "Hopefully this is enough, since it's all there was. I wouldn't want you to get punished or anything on account of me."

While the researcher's mind had been awash in irritation as Hugh stepped further and further from the topic, he was utterly shocked by the projectile. Of course, outwardly shock, irritation and curiosity were as one to his precious mask... In any case, he gave Hugh a thankless thank-you as they set off.
And, to his surprise, with naught but his sheer ability, Gunshow was actually quite adept at navigating the mountain terrain. To think they wouldn't be delayed in the slightest! Of course, to his surprise, a familiar pudgy splotch of Dunsparce awaited them back down the mountain... What was he doing...?
A little loudly (to cover the distance), he began speaking, unconcerned as he was by actually descending, "I must admit, I would never have expected you to stay so close to where last we met... Well, it can't be helped, can it? Are these the ones you spoke of? Let us hope not..." The Yamask stayed near their Machoke for now, though... Though knowing Hugh they might bound forward any second.

Speaking of Hugh...
Rocks scattered and flew about in every direction. The Gunshow had leaped from the wall not long after he had spotted his serpentine friend. He struck a manly pose and then pile-drived the earth for good measure as he flexed his mighty muscles. "Aha! Little Three! At last I have found you! The professor says..."
He pauses, face contorting curiously into something vaguely akin to a dangerous snarl and the happy look of meeting three new friends. He takes a step back and stares pointedly at the ground, face compressed into one indicative of deep thought. These were complex feelings for the Hughshow. Very complex. "I see you have found others." He says curtly, eying the three and the Three with suspicion.

Some very strong words are running through Evan's mind at the pair of other engine-users stumbling on him right now...
He doesn't verbalize them, though. "And I see that you have found me again," he says tersely, looking up at the Machoke. "I have but one thing to say. And that is 'not now'. As I already told the spectral one, I have my own path that I am trying to follow. Whether you like it or not." He's beginning to reflect that Hugh will probably respond either very well or very poorly to this sort of response... oh, well. Too late to back down now. Continuing with the forceful tone, he says, "While I have no doubt that fate will cause our paths to cross many more times, I wish to pursue my own destiny right now. So I would ask you to await one of those inevitable meetings."

"There will be no more waiting." Says Hugh, with force and aggression. The placid, happy face of the Gunshow had long melted away while Evan blindly fumbled over words that incited the giant's deepest wellsprings rage. When he speaks, it comes from the heart of the earth, a molten core of wild, fearsome power. "I am very, very disappointed with you." He says.
"I have come to you as a friend, and this is the way you reject me? That would be enough. I have come to work with you to explore these lands, and embark on adventures with you, but you turn me away? That is enough!" Hugh lets out a heavy, breathy guttural expression of rage. His footsteps thunder forward, writhing under the weight of a white-hot rage. "I would invite you to challenge this world alongside me, for the glory of all! THAT IS ENOUGH!"
"But this? This goes too far!" He stops at last in front of the Three, eyes burning like hot coals where veins of magma coated blood flow freely. There is for a moment, silence, before he slams his fist into the earth in front of the Sparce and looks him in the eyes with a simmering gaze.
The mountain erupts with a whisper...
"Who hurt these little ones?" The Hughshow asks quietly. He arises with a stammer, clutching his head with such dismay that angels would weep! "Oh, what kind of beast would hurt these little ones so? Why! When I catch him, I smash him! Bash him! Crash him! I will, I will, kish his ash in! He will regret living for the rest his life! Braaalahaaa!"
The Hughshow flails emphatically, before kicking a rock. Unfortunately for the Gunshow, he had been neglecting his toe muscles for far too long, and his foot bounced back throbbing with pain. Once the pain and cursing stopped, he turned back to his companion with an understanding gaze. "I understand now. I can see why you didn't want to talk now! You and I ought to take these little ones back home where they can rest. Then we can worry about other thing, less important thing!"
At once, the giant had seemingly returned back to his 'usual' self and turned to accost the only awake child with his chittering form. "Oh little one! I must apologize for being so loud and angry. I get overexcited sometimes, with the smashing and the bashing. It is, Fighting Type thing. Would you like me to take you back home? The arms of Gunshow are large and powerful, but I promise you that his feet are fleet and swift as well! It would be a smooth ride!"

Whatever strong feelings were coursing through the likes of Evan and Hugh, Ulrich felt naught but a dull annoyance at the hold-up. If it had been a case of an unstoppable force against an immovable object, perhaps it would have been an interesting spectacle, but against Hugh, what could little Evan do? Best to stop wasting time and accept the change of plans.
Or so he thought, but apparently, their giant had other ideas. A brief look at the 'little ones', mostly to gauge their response (see if they were still coherent) after that display, and then Ulrich pointed out, "I won't stop you two from playing nanny, but do remember which is the important task, would you? Three, I advise you just let him get it out of his system, then we can move on."
It was odd that they had been so thoroughly battered, but weren't something's meal already, though... "Hrm. Yes, and if you don't inform Gunshow of who you fended off for these three, he may well tear apart the valley in his search. I don't think your friends would welcome such a selfless act of heroism, do you?"

Already badly injured, Mica glances between the silent specter that is Ulrich the Second, and the enraged mountain of Gunshow with a great deal of anxiety. That Three would stand up to a Fighting Type AND a Ghost! The Dunsparce must've been far, far beyond the likes of her and her brothers. "I didn't see what did it sir. It came up out of the ground and there was dirt and grit everywhere, we're just lucky that Three doesn't believe in the whole 'predator, prey' thing."

The Hughshow listened to the little tiny creature with great concentration. Much concentration. All of his brain cells! "Ground and dirt yes? Popping out of a hole... Hrmm." He scratched his hair combs idly. The only creature that he knew of like that was the Three! But she said it was not the Three? Ho-hum! Suspicious! His eyes narrowed, then narrowed further until they were but manly slits which glowed with insight. Any second now, he would get to the bottom of this! Intuition... 10! All at once, the Hughshow exploded with true anger, slamming his fists together as he stared deep into Mica's eyes. "AHA! I know that culprit! Say no more! Your foe, is the insidious, ROCK SNAKE!" The two one turned for dramatic effect, his eyes drifting furiously up the mountainside as he shook his outstretched fist in anger. "Damn you Rock Not-Snake! I should have been wiser to your insidious machinations! Beating up innocent children to get stronger, how dare you, you MONSTER! I'm coming get you, RIGHT NOW! Gird your loins, and pray your fake snake God listens to your puny prayers! Grumbling bitterly, the Hughshow made his way back to the cliff. Getting down was easy part. Getting back up was also going to be easy. Killing Rock Not-Snake? Pricelessly easy!

Something they didn't see - an ambush predator. And from underground, so a burrower. Adding to that, Three fought it off... Wouldn't he have seen it? The Dunsparce didn't have that poor vision, did it? Well, all would become clear when Evan answered as to which burrowing ambush predator he fought off... What was Hugh on about?
Torn for only a moment, the Yamask glared at the assembled Pokemon... Which looked exactly the same as it staring... And commanded, "You four... Bah, don't leave this spot. With such a capable guardian there should be no problem. Right, Three?"
Ulrich didn't wait for a reply, though, already drifting backwards in a Hugh-ly direction. When he caught up, he didn't have much to say to their strong-man, though, save, "I can appreciate your passion, but don't you think taking care of the specimens has priority over indulging in some revenge? Against the beast you just defeated?"

Evan remains silent throughout the conversation, just watching Hugh mull things over. Thankfully, Mica seems to have been convincing enough to cause him to reach the wrong conclusion. He doesn't know what this 'Rock-Snake' is, but, it seems to be a good conduit for Hugh's anger.
Wordlessly watching Ulrich drift away, he waits until the spectre has remained out of sight for some time, before turning to Mica and speaking. "So... I have no idea what he's seeking. But, chances are, he'll eventually figure out his mistake and they'll return." He glances over, to make sure that such an occurrence wasn't happening at that very moment. "You should probably get out of here before that happens. If he finds out that you lied... well, it likely wouldn't be good. If you don't feel like you can make it back to your home on your own, then I'll help keep you safe... but I don't think it would be a good idea for me to go the entire way. I imagine your mother would just think that you're bringing home a meal. And, I'm sure you understand, I'd prefer to avoid that fate."

The Hughshow was already on the rock face. by the time the Ghost stopped him. He pondered this sagely advice, then took a great, deep, thought. "Oh goodness. This is dereliction of duty, isn't it?" He says with a pointed frown. The great warrior kicks off the wall and returns to terra firma gracelessly. Perhaps later he would beat up the Not-Snake. After he had calmed down. Maybe, murder was not the answer at all anwyays? There were other things on his mind making him angry, so perhaps now would be a good time to speak of it. He turned to the ghost conspiratorially.
"You are right. Now is not the time for revenge. But, while we have over here, I wish to confide in you. I do not understand why the Three is being so hostile to me. Is there something that I do not understand?"
Slowly, the Gunshow brought a small, sad hand to his forehead, but did not understand why. But a small, parasitic part of him did. The Hugh had always tried to look out for the little Evan. Why was he acting like this now? Was Hugh no longer... Needed?

"It's fine." Mica offered, having been pulping two of the fruits in her jaws and passing it mouth to mouth to her siblings who had since begun to stir. "Be careful Mister Three, your company is dangerous." Nosing at her brothers again she works at bringing them around a little faster, with quiet 'come-on' and 'it's dangerous we have to go.' Not having been conscious for what had transpired, the younger Rockruff shot Three suspicious glances as they collected the proffered fruit, and the three began to filter west through the cragfield.

"I know that better than most..." Evan says, quietly, before speaking louder. "Be careful, yourselves, all right? I do not know if we will ever meet again. But, if we do not, I would prefer that the reason be circumstance, rather than you finding yourselves on the wrong end of a meal."
He watches them head into the cragfield, before making to move back towards the serpent burrow himself. He could, of course, stay here. But, the others would likely drag him off, even if there wasn't a release of anger at the Rockruffs having left. If there was going to be some punishment, it would be better that it not involve Three. Not to mention, purely selfishly, he'd like to be the recipient of that warmth and tenderness at least once more.

...what was Hugh asking? No, more pressingly, why ask him, Ulrich, about what went on in that one's head. Bah, but he couldn't well ignore the question, and Three-Evan had displayed some uncharacteristic behaviour of late. "I'm not a counselor, Hugh, I'm a scientist."
After that quick clarification, he answered in earnest, "...Still, he is strangely forceful right now, you're not wrong. One hopes it's because of our mission, and he simply has some bold ideas for accomplishing it. Misinformed and dangerous, but its all too common to get attached to one's own ideas. Hmph, 'Little Three' probably has it in his head to impress everyone with his own results, built on all of our combined efforts!"
Rather displeased by the idea, Ulrich paused before saying, "Technically, that's only speculation." His speculation, of course, but still lacking in concrete proof... "We'll simply have to observe Three carefully here... And Evan carefully elsewhere." One sigh (or however much of one a Yamask could make) later, Ulrich finally asked, "Did you manage to follow all that? We shouldn't dawdle, so as nice as this has been I'd like to keep moving."
