Avani's eyes were closed as Axiom and Andrea took off, deciding better to focus her thoughts than fret further. She looked to Donovan as he spoke though her attention quickly to the attack upon the tree, furrowing her brow a little bit. Violence in any capacity wasn't really pleasant, though she couldn't really blame her.
A sigh escaped her as she smiled weakly at the pair. "Well, she wanted the Professor. And those stones. That's what we do know..." she paused before giving a slight nod, "We need to stop just standing here then. We need to make time as much as possible. For the professor, and our Pokemon's sake..." Her hand placed against Ollie's ball, frowning a bit before starting to follow the path.

The day - in contrast to the current mood - remains bright and warm, with the cheerful sounds of Pokémon whispering through the forest. Neither 'Mon nor man interrupts you as you proceed down the path, alone with each other and your thoughts.
The sun is beginning to go down and dip below the trees as you reach a crossroads. Pointing off from the main road is a sign that says "Temple", while in the direction that you're going it points and says "Kanadario". Recalling the professor's words, it seems likely that you'd be able to make it to the Temple before dark, and rest there, as opposed to on the road.

Without slowing his step, Donovan continued towards the Temple, before looking back to make sure the girls were still going the same way. He slowed down a little and decided to say something after being quiet for so long "Well, looks like we should be able to reach the Temple pretty soon, and stay there for the night. Professor Maple said it would be safe there. We can then make it to Kanadario tomorrow if I remember right. Does that still sound alright to you two?"

Desiree nods. Her mood was still dampened a little, but visiting the temple should still be interesting. Maybe it'd get her mind off what had occurred earlier. "I'm still fine with going to the temple and spending the night there."

As Avani noticed the sign, she couldn't help but have the small bit of excitement bubble within her. Of course, with the current mood she kept it to herself and managed a weak smile. "I'm sure it'll still be a nice place to stay. Maybe even safer than just sleeping beside the road," she added, turning to follow Donovan.

As you walk through the tall, dense, trees, the sun is quickly obscured from view, although it's still easily light enough to see. After about fifteen minutes of walking, though, the trees abruptly give way to a clearing. And there you see it.
Towering probably twice as high as any of the trees in the forest - themselves many times your own height - what you can only assume to be the temple lies perhaps a hundred meters ahead. Like a ziggurat, it's formed of multiple platforms upon platforms, climbing up towards the sky. Stairs make their way up the center of the side, all the way to the top of the temple. The entire structure seems to be made of pure white stone, the top almost seeming to glow orange in the last light from the day's sun. If one were to climb up top, they could probably still see the sunset.
At a glance, there doesn't seem to be anyone else around, but, from the ground, you can't really properly see onto the higher platforms, nor can you see the other sides.

The walk through the trees saw Desiree relax more. As the trio entered a clearing, Desiree's breath was stolen away. She'd never seen anything quite like this before in her life. It was beautiful, the way the sun seemed to burn the white stone orange especially catching her eye. For a very long moment she wondered whether it shouldn't be illegal to disturb the sanctity of the temple just by being around it like they were planning to. Then her curiosity outweighed her brief near religious experience and she began to walk faster. With a small smile on her face, she turned to the others, "Guys come on, let's check this place out."
As she walked closer, she began to truly appreciate the height of the monument. The city girl took in the stairs that lead to the top of the temple, and resisted the urge to start running towards and up them, in an effort to see the sun set. "I want to run up those stairs and watch the sun set," she admitted to the others, looking at them with another small smile. "But we should probably start setting up camp."

Taking in the sight of the Temple and listening to Desiree talk, Donovan nodded before beginning to climb the stairs, looking back with a little smirk "Why not do both! I'd feel a lot more comfortable setting up camp somewhere that we can keep an eye on our surroundings after all."
He began to run up the stairs a bit faster, turning back and yelling "Last one to the top has to make dinner!"

Avani tensed as Donovan called out the challenge, giving an inward sigh as she began to cautiously walk up the steps. Her eyes were focused almost solely upon them, resigning herself to the fact that she, indeed, was going to be the one making dinner. And who knows? Maybe she could remember some tricks she used to see when her parents cooked. But there was no way in hell she would run up these steps, regardless of how excited she was. It was more likely she would find herself rapidly approaching the bottom of the temple if she tried.
Though she couldn't help but smile as she took a small glance around, the excitement replacing any solemness from earlier. Though she still worried about her fainted Pokemon, she also knew she couldn't do much to help him now.

Desiree's eyes brightened as the challenge came, and without much further thought, she dashed off, a grin flashing on her face at acting much like her younger self, before it gave way to determination. "You're on!" She wasn't going to lose this race without giving it her all. She pushed herself to catch up with her friend and if possible, even over take him. Athletics to run faster than Donovan: 9

The stairs are fairly steep, but Desiree manages to overtake Donovan, the boy not quite having the stamina to maintain speed. The walls that the trio pass seem to have strange runic carvings on them, but there's really no time to properly examine them. After a few minutes - though it seems like longer - Desiree and Donovan crest onto the final platform, out of breath. In front of them, probably twenty meters away, is what looks like a stone block with a carved archway into it. The archway entrance, though, is still stone, flat with the rest of the block. It seems more like a drawing than an actual entrance, though it's clearly part of the structure itself.
What is not part of the structure itself, is what's directly in front of it. What, as well as who. The now unfortunately recognizable armoured form of Axiom stands before the doorway, all her attention focused on a machine in front of her. The case that the professor was carrying lies open beside her, empty from what you can see. She currently seems to be slotting a stone into a place on her machine - other stones and shards sparkling on it - with bare, slender hands, her gauntlets floating in the air at her side.
It does not seem that she's noticed you at all, nor is her bird anywhere that you can see.

Avani kept her own pace as the other two raced ahead, shaking her head slightly at the sight. Looks like she'll be making extra dinner just to keep up with her companions energy spent. She took a pause, giving a stretch as she looked around at the trees before looking up towards the two who had reached the top. Her brow furrowed, head tilting as they seem to have seen something. Damnit, what was she missing? She gave an inward sigh before starting up once again, making sure each step was careful but moving a bit quicker than before.

Desiree went still as she stared at the scene before her. Very still. Her eyes were a little wide, before narrowing. What the hell. Her again? Is fate mocking us or something? I can't even tell if this is lucky or unlucky. I suppose... If whatever they're doing works and Axiom gets into the temple, we may have a chance to rescue Andrea. At her sides, her hands clench into fists. After a few moments of Desiree not moving from this stance, her hands relax. She looks at Donovan and puts a finger to her lips, in the universial sign for 'quiet'. Then she turns back to watch, hoping that Axiom is too distracted to notice them. She doesn't even trust herself to move down the stairs to hide, fearing that she would make too much noise.
As Desiree notices Avani nearing them, she once again puts a finger to her lips and beckons her with a slow motion of her hands, indicating that Avani should come and see, but not too quickly.

Donovan nodded to Desiree, his hand moving back towards the Pokeballs on his belt for a moment before dropping to his side. He shook his head, remembering how trying to attack her had went last time.
He watched silently as Axiom did...whatever she was doing, rooted in place with the fear of giving away the fact that they were there.

Avani's able to silently make it up to the other two on the top platform, where she can join them in observing what's going on. Deftly, Axiom slides the last stone in, tightens something up, and then steps back to observe her handiwork for a moment. Seemingly satisfied, she flips a switch on the machine, and the stones begin to glow. Dimly at first, but then with greater intensity, it becomes almost blinding. But you can clearly see the form of Axiom, dark amongst the light, backing away from the machine. There seems to be a little bit of panic in her motions, as if this isn't going according to plan. There's a loud thrumming noise, and then everything goes white. You all get a milestone. Yay!
