Avani had spent the morning grooming her partners as the others went to train, smiling all the while. By the time they were walking she kept her Pokemon tucked safe in their balls, her eyes drifting to the sky before a slight stumble made her think otherwise. "Yeah, I don't mind just eating while we walk. Might as well make as much time as we can after all!" she smiled, tilting her head slightly at Desiree's words. What would be wrong?
"Oh, huh?" She glances at Desiree. "Oh, no, I just thought I saw something up there. Must've been nothing." After walking - and eating - for a few more minutes, though, it suddenly becomes all too clear that she probably didn't see nothing. Given that all of a sudden there's a noise approaching from the forest, which is all the warning that you get, before a very sizeable red bird swoops in low over the treetops.
As it hovers and lands in front of you on the path, you can clearly see that it's not a living creature at all... it's made of metal. The professor seems impressed as it touches down, giving it an appraising look.
It's not alone, though. On the back of the bird is... well, presumably a person, wearing a similarly metallic suit. The figure vaults off, drifting slowly to the ground, before gently touching down in front of the professor. "Why, hello there, Professor." The cool, female voice that emerges betrays no hint of purpose.
"Who are you?" Professor Maple asks, staring at the figure. "And what do you want?"
"My name is not important," comes the reply. "But, if you must refer to me as something, you can call me Axiom. And I'm here for that." She gestures to the case that the professor is carrying. "And the lovely person carrying it."
Desiree nodded, "If you say so." And thus she continued walking, and eating. Then a Pokemon-like robot bird landed in front of the group. Desiree's eyes grew wide in amazement. She'd never seen such a thing before, and she usually kept somewhat up to date on new tech. She had to know what it was and how it worked. Not only that, but the person who came in riding on it, was wearing a rather interesting suit that seemed to be capable of slowing down a fall at least, if not flying out right. She would have asked about both these things too, if it didn't turn out that the person was after something Andrea owned. Not to mention apparently being after Andrea herself. Now, that just wasn't good at all.
Desiree tried not to glare, but she could feel her temper rising. The way this person had phrased things, this was an attempt at kidnapping. She wasn't about to let that happen, but she also didn't want to let the situation devolve into hostilities immediately, especially when she didn't know the capabilities of that robotic creature or the person themselves.
"Well, I'm sure the professor can answer any questions you might have, right here. I'm sure we can keep this civil and no one will have to resort to theft or worse," Desiree said in measured tones. At her side, Amprex remained impassive, but his presence gave the city girl confidence.
Donovan narrowed his eyes as this Axiom appeared. One hand slowly moved back to rest on Asters ball, the other going into his pocket, unzipping the secret compartment and grabbing a handful of spores he had cleared from Rose this morning. He didn't plan on using them unless he had to, but quick access was always good.
He shook with nervous energy, both scared and a little excited as the mechanical marvel stood across from them "You..You're not gonna take her" He stutters out, his nerves clearly showing
Avani's eyes grew as the mechanical avian settled before them, eyeing the woman approaching them up and down with a curious look. Though her expression was quick to flit between curiosity, confusion, and settling on a rather disgruntled look. "Now wait a minute Miss, you can wait just like everyone else to see them at the conference! The Professor needs to be going that way, not with you," she huffed, stepping forward to lace an arm to loop with the Professor's. "Besides, we're not supposed to be taking any detours or stalling for so long so I think we should be going." She took a step back, tugging the Professor gently along with her and towards the other two. Avani didn't particularly seem frightened at least...
"Yes. I'm sure we can keep this civil," Axiom replies. "That, however, depends on you. Questions are not the only thing that I want. Mechanical expertise. Development. I am taking her. One way or another."
"Now, do you want to do this the easy way," she asks, stepping forwards, "or are you going to insist on opposing me?" At an apparent signal from Axiom, the bird flaps around, and shuffles backwards, further away from the group. "I await your answer... in whatever form it should choose to take." There are several Pokéballs attached around Axiom's waist, but she makes no move to reach for any of them, instead standing with her arms crossed in front of her.
The professor looks between the newcomer and you all, seeming to leave the decision up to you.
Desiree shook her head and with immense heat in her eyes, glared at the woman who threatened to kidnap Andrea. "Let me make one thing clear, this will not go the way you want it to." She moved forward until she stood next to Andrea, Amprex locked in step with her, before reading her intent and running off to crouch between Axiom and Andrea. She turned to the others, "We have to knock her out before she uses any Pokemon!" She looked forward once more."Amprex, Thunder Shock her! Go all out, like we practiced! Then camouflage yourself!"
Amprex reacts quickly, his frills beginning to spark, before the sparks envelop his whole body. A bright glow encompasses him and then with a crackling noise, a bolt of lightning is discharged towards Axiom. Amprex then began changing colours to match his surroundings.
When he heard Desiree come to action, Donovan took a few steps forward, releasing Aster next to Axiom with one hand and throwing a cloud of pollen into her face with the other
As the pollen cloud hits her general area, his mind switched into battle mode "Aster, kick up dust and then get under her legs. Remember what I taught you. Oh, and disappear while you're at it"
The Deerling stamped its feet against the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust in the foes face, before attempting to knock her legs out from under her and then change his coat to the same brownish color as the sand he had kicked up
Amprex's bolt strikes Axiom straight in the center of her body... but all it seems to do is quickly crackle into static, as she turns to face Desiree. "It's already not going the way I wanted it, that much is true. But, I have the feeling it will go even less the way that you want."
Ollie's spikes also fly true, but they just seem to bounce off of her armour, falling harmlessly to the ground. Donovan experiences a similar thing with his powder, the stunning spores not seeming to have the usual seizing up that he's come to expect.
Aster seems to have more of a success with his blinding attack, able to get in a solid blow on Axiom's legs as she tries to wipe her faceplate clear of the obscuring dust. It doesn't stop her from moving entirely, though, as she strides over, past the Pokémon, and gestures towards the professor. Avani, tugging on the professor, can feel that the scientist seems to be floating a little bit in the air. The iron-clad woman follows this by holding out her hand, which the case then simply flies into. "Well, that's impressive..." Maple quips, "but would you mind giving me some warning next time? I wasn't expecting that, and that rather hurt to try and hold onto."
"I'm not planning on there being a next time, but on the off chance there is, I'll keep it in mind." There seems to be a trace of amusement coming from Axiom, though it quickly disappears as she turns back to the three Trainers. "Now, are you going to stop your efforts and stand down? Because I don't want to hurt you, or your Pokémon. But, I will if I have to."
Amprex hits with Thunder Shock. Axiom's speed increases from Motor Drive. Oleander hits with Poison Sting. It has no effect. Donovan hits with Stun Spore. It has no effect. Aster hits with Sand Attack. Axiom is Blinded. Low Blow is a success. Axiom is Vulnerable and has her Initiative set to 0. Aster may make an AoO. Axiom uses Telekinesis. The Professor is Lifted.
As the woman shakes off the attacks, well most of the attacks, Donovans eye's widen a bit. Though her final show with the case causes his mouth to drop open a little bit. He sighed before recalling Aster "Why do you want the professor anyways? I'm...Well I'm not really keen on fighting someone who just shook off all of those attacks but....But I can't just sit back and do nothing while you kidnap someone!"
Desiree looked shocked that Amprex' attack did absolutely nothing. What on earth? she thought. She became even more confused when Andrea's case flies into Axion's hand. She must have some kind of magnetism tech going on, the girl figured. That might explain how Amprex' Thunder Shock didn't affect her. She gritted her teeth and continued to glare at Axiom. "Spare us the whole 'taking the high road' shit, because what you're doing is criminal. If you don't want to hurt us, leave, because you're not getting to Andrea without going through me first." With that decisive statement, Desiree moved forward and in front of Andrea.
The, rather angry, city girl wondered just who the hell Axiom was, what organization she might belong to, but those thoughts weren't too helpful right now. What might be helpful, was shutting her down. In a normal situation, Desiree would always speak for peace before violence, but now? Violence was looking really attractive. Desiree regretted that she had never taken up Martial Arts or some other sort of fighting sport, because she really felt like giving Axiom a good punch herself. She wasn't so angry that she couldn't tell this would do little to her though, considering that Ollie's Poison Sting had just pinged off her armoured suit.
Instead of ordering another damaging attack, Desiree released Prova. "Prova blow her a kiss!" Eager to prove herself to Desiree, Prova looked at Axiom with bright eyes, raised her paws to her closed mouth and then blew towards the enemy. "We might not be able to beat you, but that won't stop me from trying," Desiree said resolutely.
Avani tightened her jaw as the attacks bounced off, grip upon the Professor's arm tightening before she began to float. Her building anger swiftly turned to confusion as she looked at the professor, doing her best to keep a hold on her as she was lifted. Her gaze flashed towards the suited woman as she spoke, face flickering back to an angered scowl. She watched as Pokemon were recalled, and she almost felt her heart sank until Desiree's words and the send out of her Pikachu brought a renewed sense of determination to her. "We can't go easily!" she spoke, trying to pull the Professor back to the ground. "Ollie, try and distract her some..." she grumbled, though the little bug's antennae twitched as he heard the command. Scurrying a little closer and steadying himself he reared back and attempted to screech out towards the woman.
"I want her because of her work. Her knowledge." Axiom makes a shrugging motion. "Does it really matter? I assure you, no harm will come to her."
"And I said I did not want to hurt you," she says, sounding a little bit dazed after Prova's attack. "Not that I would not." Ollie's screech - which makes her cringe - seems to annoy her, though, because the smell of ozone suddenly appears, and everyone feels a small, though not painful, jolt - which appears to be only the prelude to bolts of electricity that shoot out towards Amprex, Ollie, and Prova. Ollie doesn't quite manage to dodge the attack, and Faints outright, but the two electric types only to be hurting, aided by their innate resistance.
"I'll ask you only once more for you to get out of my way," Axiom turns back to Desiree, "Otherwise it won't be just your Pokémon getting shocked."
"Don't fight, Desiree..." says the professor, looking at Des. "I'm not worth it. She says she won't hurt me, after all." Still floating, she turns to Axiom. "If I agree to go quietly, you won't hurt them, right?"
"Of course. They can go about with, well, whatever they were doing."
The professor turns back to the group of trainers. "I don't want you guys hurt on my behalf, okay? I couldn't bear to live with that. After all, you've got a long journey ahead of you. It shouldn't end here."
Ollie hits with Screech. Prova hits with Sweet Kiss. Axiom is confused. Axiom attacks Ollie, Amprex and Prova. It's not very effective on Amprex and Prova. Ollie takes 54 damage, 4 injuries, and Faints. Amprex takes 28 damage and an injury. Prova takes 24 damage and 2 injuries.
Desiree slumps slightly from the aggressive posture she had been carrying. Seeing her Pokemon get hurt for what appears to be nothing, her pride is broken for now, though she remains angry. She recalls her Pokemon, gaze very intentionally not looking at them and focused on the floor as she does so. Why... why can't we beat her? Our first insurmountable obstacle and it just had to be a damn kidnapper and thief. This thought and similar ones plague her mind for a few moments. She balls up her right fist, which is clearly shaking.
Desiree takes a deep breath, exhales and looks up at Andrea. Her hand opens and relaxes. "Alright, Andrea. I won't fight this any longer. We don't have the power to do so yet it seems." Her gaze intensifies, seeming to radiate heat when she then turns her eyes upon Axiom. "But don't think you can rest easy, Axiom. I don't care how long it takes, but I will see you imprisoned for this." She steps back to Andrea's side, so that she isn't blocking her path, looking furious as she does so.
Donovan watches as Axiom emanated electricity, his brow furrowing a bit as he watched Ollie go down "Ah no, of course you won't hurt us...You'll...You'll just leave us alone, in the middle of nowhere, after taking out half of our Mon and kidnapping our guide. But you won't hurt us of course"
He exhaled sharply before looking at the two girls and hearing Desiree spit venom at Axiom "We're uh...We're probably gonna have to deal with the fact that the last people she was seen with was us. And we're all gonna be saying something about someone flying a robot bird and shooting lightning from a hoversuit. It's gonna be hard not to get put in an asylum...."
Avani grit he teeth, a pained look on her face as she saw Ollie faint. She was quick to recall him, cradling his ball close to her chest almost protectively. She hesitated only a moment more before reluctantly stepping away from the professor, putting Ollie's ball away. Her companions both spoke out at the woman, each speaking in their own ways yet she just remained silent. What was the use of badgering the woman? It would only possibly push her further, and at the moment all Avani wanted to do was make haste to the Pokemon Center. She could only hope that it wasn't too much farther, that their Pokemon didn't have to stay so injured for so long. And even more so she just had to hope they didn't run into anything else.
Axiom gives a chuckle at Desiree's threat. "I'd like to see you try. Really, I would. But I'd think that you should keep your goals a little bit more achievable." She then looks at Donovan. "No. I leave you unhurt, on a relatively safe path, having only retaliated against the Pokémon that you attacked me with."
"Don't worry about me," the Professor says, calmly putting a hand on Desiree's shoulder. "Just concentrate on you, all right?" She turns to Avani. "And don't let this discourage you. You have strength, I've seen it. You just need to persevere."
"Are you finished with the sentimentalities?" Axiom asks, a little testily.
"Yes, just about." She begins walking towards the woman and her bird before glancing back. "Just remember to stick to the paths, and you'll be fine. There's no way you'll reach Kanadario today, but stay on the road, and you shouldn't have to worry about pushing your Pokémon. Good luck. And you can win this League. I believe in you."
With that, Axiom deftly swoops down and - seemingly effortlessly - picks the professor up, depositing the two of them on the bird. It whirs for a moment, flapping a few times, before taking off, and swiftly climbing off into the distance and out of sight, leaving the three of you alone, the only sounds around the quiet chirping of bird Pokémon.
Donovan watched as Axiom and the professor take off into the distance. His shoulders slowly sink in defeat "I...I'm sorry I gave up first...I just...It didn't seem like we could even do anything to her"
He lowered his head and clenched his fists "We have to get to somewhere where we can get help. I don't know what this 'Axiom' wanted but...but it couldn't be any good!"
Slowly raising his head, Donovan turned to the two girls and feigned a small smile "So...Come on. We have to keep going. For Professor Maples sake..."
Desiree almost growls at Axiom, but holds herself back, assuming a serious, stoic look. She scans Axiom and her bird, committing any discernible features to memory. When Andrea puts a hand on her shoulder, the city girl relaxes and nods slightly. Desiree is full of emotions as she watches Axiom take off with Andrea in tow. She wants to cry and she wants to punch something. In the end, she does neither. She just watches with a hard face until the figures in the sky become naught but a dot and then nothing.
She didn't say anything or react much as Donovan talked, which was likely a little unnerving to him. Eventually though, still having said nothing, she walks over to the nearest tree. She takes a deep breath. With a screamed "Aaaaaa!" She punches the tree. And again. And again. This repeats a few more times as she alternates between hands. Then she stops, before she seriously hurts herself, senses coming back. She returns to the group breathing slightly heavily and acts as if nothing had happened just now. "You're right and you were right about not being able to do anything, so don't worry. Let's keep going." She returns the small smile with a sad one of her own. "For Andrea's sake."

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
