Avani was quick to wave her hands dismissively, sheepish grin upon her face as the knowledge of someone fretting over her just made her all the more scarlet. "Y-yeah! Fine fine, it happens all the time, really..." she replied before giving a sigh of relief as the professor changed the subject. Her face rested into a smile, before letting off a small laugh. "I don't think a certain someone would be very pleased if she found out we led you off track, though."
It was then her gaze shifted to the field of Pokemon, eyes glimmering as she looked around at them. She saw the figures bouncing around, trying to make heads or tails of them, though she couldn't help but keep flitting her gaze around at all the Pokemon in general.
Desiree looks at the professor with a chiding expression, hands on her hips and everything. "Professor Maple- Can I call you Andrea? Anyway, didn't Lana say something about not getting distracted before we arrive at Kanadario? Who knows when we'd be able to pull ourselves away from the temple. I think we would be better off not risking you being late for your conference." Desiree looks utterly concerned at having asked to be on a first name basis with who must be the most prominent figure in the whole of Vesperia when it came to research into Pokemon and apparently other things like the temples too. She had a feeling that the she and the professor could be good friends, despite the difference in their ages and ranks. If she refused, Desiree wouldn't be angry though.
After chiding the professor a little, Desiree take a good long few moments to look at the scenery. Her eyes widen when she sees the flashes of yellow among the herd of Pokemon. Those... those looked like Electric-types! "Guys, I think there are Electric-types among that herd! They're what I specialize in! I have to go take a look!" She breaks away from the others as she moves towards the herd slowly, a hand close to Amprex' Pokeball, though not releasing the Pokemon just yet.
At the approach of the humans, all of the deer Pokémon shoot their heads up almost simultaneously, and then take off dashing into the nearby forest. Only one lone pink Deerling is left, standing its ground, and staring at the approaching Trainers. It seems to be pawing at the ground, as if preparing for a fight.
Left behind with the sudden evaporation of the herd are a pair of small electrical mice, tussling around. They seem to suddenly realize that there's no longer any deer around them, and stop, looking up at the humans in mid-wrestle.
All alone, not particularly caring about what's going on, is a lone Bunnelby, still nibbling on the field, oblivious to the approaching Trainers.
Avani watched the others trot off before rubbing the back of her head, eventually moving to trail along though it seemed the Pokemon were already acutely aware of their presence. Or, most of them were anyway. Her eyes swept over the small gathering before looking to her companions, giving a bit a smile as she looked to Desiree. "Ah... Practice?" she asked softly, hand timidly touching at Ollie's ball. Though she wasn't sure if she was ready for more partners yet, she could still at least start working up battling experience and helping her new friends.
Desiree looks bemused as all of the Deerling rush off, except for one. She had never been that good at being stealthy, her footsteps were entirely too loud. She eyed the Deerling that remained. That one's got some fighting spirit. I like that. Too bad I'm not really interested in having a Grass-type right now. Her eyes lit up at Avani's question. "Yeah. It looks like those Pichu are into roughhousing anyway, let's see if they're up for a bit of a battle," she replied more or less as softly. The city girl took out Amprex' Pokeball and released him into the field. "Don't spook those Pichu ok, Amprex?" The Helioptile nodded, bobbing his head down and back up in the way he'd seen Desiree do it. She smiled at him. Then, as Amprex began to crawl toward the Pichu, she called out to them, "You look like you're having fun, want to share the fun with us? Let's battle!"
As the Deerling stayed behind, taking on a combative stance, Donovan took a few steps forward and released Rose in front of him and spoke with the same voice he had in the last battle, far less hesitant than normal "Rose. It looks like we'll be gaining another companion sooner than anticipated. Let's do this smooth, shall we?"
He turned to the other two beginning trainers and flashed a quick smile "If I get in over my head, help me out. But I wanna see if I can get this one all on my own first"
Avani smiled at Donovan with a nod and grin, moving to send out Ollie to be next to Amprex. "Just let us know, and good luck!" she laughed a bit, seeming in much better spirits than she had been. She'd do better this time.
One of the Pichu leaps up at the challenge, while the other one cowers behind the first, peering over the first's shoulder, eyes wide open. It seems like they're waiting for you to make the first move.
As Rose slides back, Donovan frowns "Rose, rush forward and strike it!"
The Budew responds to his trainers orders, moving forward and attempting to strike with glowing green thorns. Unfortunately, his strike went wide. As did the Pokeball that Donovan tried to silently throw at the Deerling, his eyes growing wide as he missed
Desiree quickly gets an empty Pokeball from her pack. "Alright!" She says, looking at the scrappy Pichu. "Some fighting spirit, that's what I like to see. Let's show 'em what we've got Amprex! Give the Pichu in front a good punch!"
Amprex scoots forward and small amounts of bright crackling energy envelop his right claw which he balls into a fist, and promptly attempts to punch the Pichu with.
Desiree primes her Pokeball and throws it, but misses. "Ugh." The noise she makes conveys her disappointment.
Amprex strikes his target square on, and the Pichu squeals in such a heartbreaking way that you can't help but feel sorry for it. The one behind it shows a look of concern, before easing off a little bit at the fact that its friend is still standing.
Ollie's spikes miss the hiding Pichu, and it does a heartmelting look in return at the bug, that gets through even the Venipede's cold, hard exterior. The first Pichu, panting as it is, takes a more direct approach, launching a bolt of electricity at Amprex, which barely misses.
Both Desiree and Avani throw Pokéballs at their respective targets. Desiree misses hers, but Avani manages to hit the one in the back, much to the consternation of its friend in front of it. There are several shakes, but in the end, the Pichu breaks free, much to the relief of the other one.
Meanwhile, Rose moves forwards, stabbing with vines, as Donovan throws a Pokéball. But, the Deerling is too nimble, and it almost seems to be mocking the Budew and human with its prance, before smacking its head into Rose again, sending the bud flying back. With a smug look on its face, it seems to grow greener, the pink giving way to matching the field around it.
Pichu 2 takes 2 injuries from Struggle. Amprex is infatuated from Cute Charm. Ollie misses with Poison Sting. Pichu 1 hits Ollie with Charm, for -2 Attack CS. Pichu 2 misses with thunder shock. Desiree misses with a Pokéball. Avani hits with a Pokéball, but the Pokémon broke free.
*** Donovan misses with his Pokéball. Rose misses with Absorb. Deerling hits Rose for 23 damage, and an injury. Deerling uses Blender.
Avani's eyes went wide as a squeal erupted from her. "I hit it!" she beamed, before looking at the pair. "...I didn't catch it, but I hit it!" she added, seeming to be pleased with herself nonetheless. "C'mon Ollie! Don't let that cute look distract you, try again!"
Ollie shook his head and readjusted his stance, taking better aim to send another sting towards the heartmelting baby.
This time when the Deerling struck Rose, his thorns shined a light purple for a moment, his poison making its way into the wild Pokemons system. However, looking at the state the Budew was in, Donovan frowned even more "Rose, back in the ball"
The Budew energized, returning to his Pokeball with no complaints, having taken more hits in the last two days then the entire time he had been with Donovan up to that point.
"Oh gosh," Desiree says in dismay. She had meant to hurt the Pichu, sure, and Pokemon fought all the time, yeah, but in this specific instance of battling, Desiree felt bad for attacking a Pokemon. She wouldn't pity the Pichu though, that would be an insult to the fighting spirit that it displayed. She surveyed the battlefield for a moment, before getting out another empty Pokeball. "Amprex, let's help out Donovan a little. Hit the Deerling with Thunder Shock!"
Amprex follows Desiree's orders without hesitation, as he carefully moves a little closer to the Deerling, before sending a small crackling bolt of electricity at it. Desiree then throws her second Pokeball at the first Pichu hoping it'll stick this time.
The deerling recoils from the poisonous barb, looking hurt... but it's soon replaced by a smug look, as Rose gets recalled. The look is wiped off as Amprex fires a bolt off at it, and it whirls around to face the new challenger, pausing only to kick at Ollie when he shoots spines at the Pichu, and prance around Donovan's Pokéball.
Ollie fires spines at the far Pichu and it winces, almost looking like it's going to cry. The Deerling prances down, in front of Amprex, headbutting the reptile across the field, to the other side of the Pichu. It winces as the toxins take their toll, though.
The Pichu in front seems angry at Oleander for attacking its friend, and it launches a bolt of electricity that travels through the bug, severely wounding it. The other, hiding, Pichu, follows the lead of the first, but it instead aims for the nearest target - Amprex - and scores a hit... though, it doesn't do too much damage to the lizard.
Desiree's Pokéball, despite her earnestness, once again misses the small mouse.
Meanwhile, the Bunnelby hops further away from the fighting, still nibbling on the grass.
Deerling is poisoned from Poison Point. Rose is recalled. Amprex hits with Thunder Shock. It's not very effective... Ollie hits Pichu 1 with Poison Sting. Ollie takes 2 damage from Deerling's AoO. Donovan misses with his Pokéball. Amprex takes 15 damage, and is pushed 2m from Tackle. Deerling is hurt by poison. Oleander takes 18 damage, and 2 injuries, from Pichu 2's Thunder Shock. Amprex takes 7 damage from Pichu 1's Thunder Shock. Desiree misses with her Pokéballs.
Desiree frowns minutely as she sees Amprex take a couple of hits, though her expression lightens as Amprex shows to still be in top form. "Amprex, blend in for now!" Undeterred by her previous failures, Desiree is already holding another Pokéball in her hand. She promptly lobs it at the Pichu again.
Avani took a moment to assess the situation, furrowing her brow a bit as she watched Ollie. "Let's not risk it." she grumbled, recalling her injured Pokemon to his ball before eyeing the shy Pokemon once more. Well, might as well try once more...

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.
Dec 2, 2019 19:05:30 GMT
but how else do i find games then?

Sounds to me like they weren't a group you'd want to be part of anyway.

i wanted to join a living server on roll20 to learn the system but they ignored my application for 2 weeks then blocked me

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
