Avani listened politely to the random facts about Desiree's starter, giving a little nod in agreement. "That definitely sounds pretty cool!" she replied before her attention was pulled away by Wilson addressing her. She listened for a while before her grin turned sheepish at the sudden small quarrel between him and the feisty woman Lynne. "Ah, I suppose I wouldn't mind trying to battle sometime... perhaps after I get more experience with it!"
She looked between Wilson and Desiree a moment as he made somewhat of a snide remark. It wasn't that she knew what the beef was between the companies, nor did she really care, but it still left a bit of tension in the air. At least until Desiree spoke to Lynne and it seemed to dissipate for the time being. Irregardless Avani turned her sights to the quiet girl still hidden away in the corner, offering a smile to her though almost afraid that if she were to try and approach the poor woman would disappear into herself. Instead she merely walked to stand near Donovan, gaze looking out at the others as they continued their chats though she didn't really say anything further herself.

Donovan took mental note of the other trainers mon, just in case a battle was ever necessary. It seems Rose would be at a disadvantage against most of them, though that just means they would never see their losses coming. As the conversations grew more heated, he shook his head a little before speaking up "I've uh...I've just got Rose myself. My Budew"
As the girl who had started the introductions, Avani, stood closer to him, Donovan looked in her direction, though he didn't say anything else.
Soon after you - well, most of you - finish your Pokémon introductions, the aide reappears from the door. She sighs, before saying "Well, it seems as though Andrea thought this was next weekend..." She shakes her head, muttering, "I swear, that woman would lose her head if it wasn't attached to her neck..."
"Anyways," the aide begins emphatically, clasping her hands together, "while she actually gets everything together, how about we go around back, and you all can have a little battle on the field out there? Kill some time, and it should help to get to know people. After all, you're going to be travelling with a few of these people. What do you all say?"
"Well, then," Wilson says, "It looks as though we'll have a chance to show ourselves right now."
"Well, it beats sitting around here, and waiting."
Desiree's expression lit up. "A battle you say? Sign me up!" She smiled happily at everyone and particularly the aide for bringing up the idea. Under normal circumstances she would have been so eager to battle that she'd have brought out Amprex already, but the little reptile had been a little tired from crawling all over the roads throughout the journey, so she had wanted to give him a chance to rest his legs. Now was the perfect time to give him some real exercise.
Avani glanced over as Donovan spoke, meeting his gaze with a smile. Her mouth had parted as if she were about to speak before the sound of the door opening pulled her attention away. She couldn't hold back a small laugh at the notion of such a scatterbrained professor, her face still showing her eternal grin... until the mention of battling came up once more.
The others seemed so excited at the notion, though Avani just found herself once more rocking from heel to toe. Her grin fell into a sheepish smile, the hit of worry crossing her expression. "Ah.. Y-yeah... Battle..." she laughed, though nervousness was obvious in it's slight quivered tone. "Um, Miss... what.. what if we don't know how to battle, exactly?"

A little chuckle escaped from Donovan "Don't worry about it. Even if you don't know what you're doing, its in a Pokemons nature to battle so they take care of most of it. I'm sure Oleander will be a natural at battling" He sounded more sure of that than anything else he had said up to that point
He stood up, adjusting his jacket and reaching for Rose's Pokeball "So...Err...Who is battling who exactly?" His cadence quickly returning to normal
"Most of the battles that you'll be doing in association with the League will be in, well, your cases, trios, although there are some pairs, when we didn't have enough for full threes," the aide explains, "So, that's what I thought we'd try. I know it's not a terribly common format yet, especially outside of Vesperia, as the League has just been introducing it elsewhere, so it'd probably be good to get some experience."
"Well, if we're going to get competitions out of the way, and bug comparisons," Wilson says, "then I think half of the problem has been decided for us. All we need to figure out is who's going to battle with the two of you." He gestures towards Avani and Desiree.
"Well, Donovan, since you seem to have some belief in Avani, that seems like a good partnership there. And that'll leave Lynne and Jenna to go with Wilson. I think that'll work out." The aide nods. "Now, if there are no objections, you can follow me around the back, and we can get set up."
"Sounds good to me," Lynne says, while the redhead - Jenna - just looks up and gives a small little nod. Which is the most she's really done so far.
Taking a side door, and going around the side of the building - a light breeze in the warm spring morning air - you all arrive at a battlefield, sittng in the middle of a grassy field. And well away from anything that could potentially be damaged.
"Alright, whenever you're ready, we can get started."
Wilson sends out a Nincada, who looks around a lot before skittering onto the battlefield. Lynne - probably quite prudently - releases her Feebas directly onto the battlefield, while Jenna releases her Pokémon directly in front of her. It seems to be a small brown reptile, with a long snout, and almost looks as if it's wearing sunglasses - though of course it isn't. She bends down, and it nuzzles up to her face, getting a smile out of her before she shoos it onto the battlefield. "Go on, Goggles."
She softened a bit as Donovan spoke, her smile returning as she gave a nod with a bit of renewed vigor. "A-alright! I bet he can do great!" she beamed before peering at the others. A trio battle, eh? Well, at least she wouldn't be battling all by herself! That'd end up embarrassing...
Her eyes flashed to the silent redhead as the unfamiliar name was spoken, her smile broadening a bit as she made a note of it in her mind. Good. All names accounted for!
As they made their way to the field she could feel her stomach twisting already once again, though even she wasn't sure if it was from nervousness or excitement. She watched as their opponents sent out first, letting off a giggle at the rather cuddly seeming lizard. She took a breath in before sending out Ollie, the little bug skittering in place as it peered around before turning to face Avani. "W-we're going to battle Ollie!" she beamed, crouching down to pet over his smooth chitin. "It's just for fun, but try you're best, okay? I know we've never done it before but... well, when has that stopped us?" she beamed, standing up once more. She gave a small nod to herself as Ollie turned, skittering out to stand aligned with the other bug as he even took a breath himself.
Desiree smiled as Donovan prepped Avani up. He seemed like a real sweetheart. Desiree was about to add her own encouragement, when Avani responded positively, and so she relented.
This wasn't quite the first time that Desiree was battling within a small team. She had tried Double Battles before within the Aratiida community, and these Triple Battles didn't seem that different, although they did add more dimensions to the battle. The city girl grinned broadly when Donovan was added to their team. "Welcome to the team, Donovan," she said jovially. She retained her grin as the aide mentioned the name that Desiree was sure everyone had been curious about. So she's called Jenna huh? That's a nice name. I still wonder if she's mute or just really shy.
As the group neared the battlefield, Desiree seemed to almost skip her way over, she was that excited. Once they arrived, Desiree's questions were answered, as Jenna talks to her Pokemon. So, not mute then. Huh. She must just be incredibly shy around people. Desiree grabbed the only Pokeball at her waist and sent out Amprex in front of her. "Amprex, get ready to battle! This one is going to be fun!" The Helioptile looks up at his Trainer and shimmies once through her legs, causing Desiree to chuckle softly, before departing for the battlefield. His sense for battle lead him to choose just the right position to take.
Donovan nodded as he was paired with the two girls, hoping that Desiree would be as good at battling as she seemed, and that beginners luck would help Avani. He smiled a little at Desiree when she welcomed him to the team "Umm thanks, I hope that I can help make sure you win, it wouldn't be good for someone who wants to be a Champion to lose their first battle on an adventure. And...well and it would be good for Avani to win her first ever battle." He turned to the other three and a small smirk crossed his lips "Sorry, but I think I'm gonna have to make sure you all lose"
Taking his place across the battlefield, Donovan released Rose in front of Goggles, the other two having set up in front of their opponents. As he released the Budew, he called out "Alright Rose, it's time to show them what you got"
"That's... probably not good, Goggles," Jenna says, the gator seeming to pick up on her soft voice, "But, we should give it our best shot." At that, the gator waddles forwards, staring at Rose, and it seems to snicker and taunt at the little bud... who doesn't seem to be having any of it.
Avani watched the first move before her gaze turned to Oleander. "Okay, let's give it a shot Ollie!" she beamed, a bit of the excitement bursting from her. Ollie skittered fourth, planting himself square on the center spot before shooting off a small spine towards the opposing bug.
Desiree frowns as she judges the distance between Amprex and Siren. It looked just a little too far for him to get in reach to attack before retaliation came from someone else. Perhaps it was better to be smart and play the waiting game. "Amprex, get ready to overload your attacks! For now scoot forward a little and camouflage yourself!"
Amprex moves forward just a little, and then seems to change colours! He is now a more brownish colour to match the battlefield.
Ollie's spine shoots towards the Nincada, striking it in the shell... but, barely seems to even scratch it. The bug delicately reaches up, and plucks the needle from where the very point has stuck in its shell.
"Hiding isn't going to do you much good, Sparky," Lynne says, "Besides, I know a poor matchup when I see one. Get over to the other side of the Venipede, Siren, then blast the bug." She blinks. "Uh, the red bug, specifically."
The Feebas seems to leap through the air much farther than you'd think should be possible, landing decidedly ungracefully. Really, more of a flop, but there's really not much else it could do. A glow suddenly appears in the fish's mouth, which erupts out towards Ollie, enveloping it. The emitted energy seems to continue hanging over the Venipede, making it hard for the bug to move.
As Rose twirls out Spikes on the ground, Jenna seems to be sketching something of the Budew, though concentrating more on the plant itself than its thorns.
Wilson, on the other hand, seems very aware of the spiky thing in front of his 'Mon. He gives a little bit of a smile at the ineffectiveness of the poisonous attack. "Well, it shows that you haven't really battled before. Some words of advice, free of charge... poisonous attacks don't work very well against Ground Pokémon. And Nincada's shell is significantly protected from physical attacks. Admittedly, rather like your Venipede. But, that's still no obstacle for Mahjong." The bug in question darts forwards, chewing at Ollie's shell and antennae. It's not terribly effective, but it still hurts the crimson insect.
"Move, Siren!" comes the cry from Lynne, and the fish immediately jumps further away from the electric lizard on the other side of the field. And then just stays there, staring at the other battlers. Nothing else happens, save for Lynne muttering something uncomplimentary about 'energy recharge'.
"Uh, Goggles, try to go around the spikes, please," Jenna says distractedly, though she seems to have moved on to the conflict between Ollie and Mahjong, flipping the page on her sketchpad. The gator doesn't seem to have any issues with not getting its feet in the carpet of caltrops, and darts around it, pausing only to give a cutthroat glare at Ollie. It gives a fairly wicked grin at Rose, before its teeth ignite with fire, and it gives a hard chomp down on the small Grass-type.
"Hey now, you can't tell me hiding is useless and then have Siren go off to hide herself," Desiree says grinning as Siren Splashes away. "Anyway, this just means that we have to chase you, that's fun too."
When Goggles scores a hard hit on Rose, Desiree gets worried. "Let's get closer to Rose, Amprex! Blast Mahjong with some energy!"
Amprex moved into position close to the Nincada. His fists glow a pure and when he punches at Mahjong, a small localized blast of energy is released
Donovan flinched as Goggles made it around the thorns, he hadn't realized the little thing could move so quickly. He flinched again when it bit down on Rose with fangs aflame. He moved a hand to his temple and shook his head, a fire attack had been unexpected. "Rose. Move back and take some of his energy for yourself please"
The Budew danced back a few steps, carefully dodging any retaliation, before firing off a few glowing green vines that quickly latched into Goggles and began to pump it's vitality into Rose. Thankfully, when it had bitten down, it hit one of Rose's more virulent spines, and a poison was injected directly into it.
Avani frowned a bit at how competitive the lot was, especially teaming up on her poor little Pokemon. She opened her mouth to speak before silencing, seeming hesitant on what to do. This most certainly wasn't what she had hoped for when it came to her first battle, and much rather liked the offer of fighting wild Pokemon with Desiree than being shoved up against much more experienced battlers like this. All she could do was watch, what else was she supposed to do? She didn't know anything about all this...
Ollie shuddered at the hits, stiffened for a while before he shook the paralysis aside long enough to let off a high pitched screech towards the other bug in annoyance. He was just as new to this as his trainer.

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
