Donovan nodded to those still in the room "Alright Professor, we'll see you later then"
As they all walked along, Donovan listened to what Avani said before speaking, his voice calm and even "There's no such thing as a silly dream. Dreams are a wondrous thing because even if they're far fetched or impossible sounding, they give you something to strive towards. They..uh..well they give you a goal, even if no one else knows what it is, or believes it. It doesn't matter if your dream is something as grand as becoming Champion or something as small as finally leaving the house. Neither one is silly, both are commendable"
After a few moments he realized that he had been speaking for a bit longer then he had meant to and a slight blush crossed his cheeks "Sorry, I was rambling"

As you leave, so too do the other three, though they head deeper into the city, rather than stopping by the closest Pokémon Center.
The Pokémon Center is relatively easy to find, the comforting red roof indicating where to find it - at least that's one thing that stays constant throughout the myriad regions.
There's a constant flow of people in and out of the Center, primarily those Trainers taking advantage of the lodging and food provided. Free to anyone who shows a valid League ID. Neither are certainly top-of-the line, but, both are better than nothing.
After a not insignificant amount of time waiting for your team to heal - perhaps also grabbing a bite to eat, or shopping at the adjacent PokéMart - you're able to make it back to the lab.
"Oh, excellent," Lana says, "Perfect timing. She's just finishing up her packing, so hasn't had a chance to leave yet. In which case, she'd probably arrive in two weeks.
"You have such confidence in me," the Professor says dryly, coming out of the back. She's wearing a backpack, and also carrying a somewhat sizeable case.
"Well, maybe I would have more confidence if you ever arrived anywhere on time." This seems like a regular conversation between the two.
"Well... just make sure you keep the lab from blowing up while I'm gone."
"No guarantees." There's a bit of a smile on Lana's face as she says that.
"Well," Professor Maple approaches the three of you, "I suppose we should head out now, cover as much ground as possible before dark. Luckily, Vesperian summers are light out until fairly late."

With something of a spring in her step, Desiree walked alongside the others to the Pokémon Center. She still felt disappointed that she clearly hadn't trained Amprex enough, because in that fight she could think of at least one thing that more training could fix. She was rather excited to get around to fixing it though, and becoming even stronger than they already were, so that lifted Desiree's mood. Not that shopping and food didn't help with that too. Desiree had most certainly enjoyed her meal and savoured the chance to go shopping even if it was only in a PokéMart.
Having returned to the lab, Desiree smiled. Lana and the Professor seemed to have a really good rapport. It was always nice to see something like that between coworkers.
When Professor Maple was ready, Desiree nodded and smiled brightly. They may only be backtracking to Kanadario, but it was going to be a great journey anyway.

Seeing the familiar sight that was the Pokemon Center put Donovan at ease, it's always nice to know that even halfway across the globe some things are the same. After a light meal, he thought of going to the Pokemon Center, before taking a look at his wallet and realizing he had spent the entirety of his last paycheck on the Portable Grower that the shop had on Clearance. He hadn't even thought to buy any seeds...
As everyone gathered back up at the lab, Donovan listened to the professor and her assistant bicker, before realizing she was ready to go. "How long do you think it will be before we reach our destination?" He asked as they prepared to leave

Avani was surprisingly calm ever since they arrived to the center and moved on to shop, seeming almost lost in thought even as they had their lunch. She was somewhat disheartened about her first battle being such a hard loss, but soon the smile returned to her face. She knew she wasn't much of a fighter, she couldn't just let one little loss get to her so bad. They would just need to work harder -- it was their ticket to exploration after all.
Once back at the lab she listened to the playful banter and nodded when it was time to go. She was still a bit more calm, the initial excitement having worn off, though her smile remained. "How long did it take you to get here? It's the same place you can from, isn't it?" Avani asked, turning to Donovan as he spoke with a slight hint of confusion across her face.

"I did" Donovan says before stopping for a second "But umm...Well like there's a really big forest next to where I'm from. It can take Trainers a really long time to make it through. But since I lived there and used to spend so much time crossing it, I knew all the shortcuts and I could make my way from one end to the other in just a few hours."
He bit his lip for a moment before continuing "So I wasn't sure if the Professor knew any shortcuts that would get us there quicker...If that makes any sense"

Lana is the one who ends up answering Donovan, saying "Well, since I imagine you're going to not want to push yourselves too hard, I'd say probably about three days. Provided you actually keep on track, that is. And, you probably do want to stick to the main trail, or else it'll take you weeks to get out there, from all the distractions."
"We'll be fine," the professor protests, before hefting her case, and turning to you all. "All right, if I'm going to have an escort, we might as well leave now, before I get smothered in concern." With that, she heads for the door, slipping out into the sunlight, before slowing down and waiting for you all. Lana just gives you a helpless shrug, as she leaves.
As you head for the outskirts of town, the professor turns to each of you, as she asks, "So, how much Pokémon experience do you all have? I know Lana mentioned that the battle you had outside was your first, Avani. Is that right?"

Listening to Donovan's explanation she gave a nod, a look of understanding clearing any hint of confusion. "That makes sense," she replied, laughing before her attention was whisked away once again by the Professor and her aid. She trailed behind the two when leaving, seeming to fall into the role of a follower almost naturally.
As they walked her eyes turned to the Professor as she was spoken to, a sheepish look upon her face. "Ah, yeah it was. I only got Ollie when my family left to come to Vesperia. Before that.. I got to interact with a lot of Pokemon, but I never had one of my own. And I would watch Pokemon battles all the time, but of course I never participated."

Desiree's eyes lit up at the question. "Oh! I've had plenty of battles, won some, lost some, you know the deal, so I've interacted with lots of Pokemon." She grins for a moment, before her expression turns thoughtful. "I think this most recent loss has taught me more than most of my previous battles combined. I've never had three people on either side, so I had to think in larger dimensions than I was used to, and I can think of some new techniques to adopt that would be handy to have." Desiree paused there, not sure whether the others wanted to listen to her critique of her own part of the battle. "Anyway, I've also learnt a good bit about Pokemon in my spare time when I was younger. I like to think I have a fair amount of knowledge on various Pokemon, even though I focused mostly on Helioptile and other Electric-types."

"I have more experience with plants then Pokemon, honestly. But I got a lot of pointers from my friend Melody before she took on Gardenia. She's the one who gave me Rose as well. I also have some experience with wild Pokemon, mostly just getting away from them though"
He scratched the back of his head "But I guess I would put my experience level at moderate"

"I have no real experience with wild Pokemon," Desiree admits. "I've lived my entire life inside Lumiose City and never really had any reason to leave it. Amprex was actually also a present, from someone who caught him in the Lumiose Badlands. I guess that kinda limits my overall experience huh?" She looks a little thoughtful again. "Well, I suppose I do know the basics of how to handle wild Pokemon from my studies, but that's not the same as getting practical experience."

"Well, don't worry," Professor Maple says, "I'm sure you'll get plenty of practice. You are challenging the League, after all. Of course, you don't need to make that your end all to be all. Even just wandering around the region, I'm sure you'll get plenty of practise. Once you start wandering of the beaten path, you'll start running into much stronger Pokémon. If you want to avoid those, it's probably best to stick to the main routes, and the cities. Oh, and the temples, too, are generally safe. For some reason, Pokémon around there tend to be a little bit more docile and peaceful... provided you don't attack them, that is."

Avani listened to everyone's experiences, smiling lightly as she didn't seem too far behind them in terms of experience anymore. Though, part of the Professor's words made her eyes light up. "Temples? Like... ruins?" she asked, her excitement slowly building as a grin crossed her face. "Have they been explored thoroughly? I wonder if we could find fossils around there... I'll definitely have to get stronger now! Not so much for the temples, since you said they were calm, but surely we don't want to stay on the paths the whole time. We'll never find anything new that wa-..." she paused, looking to the group as her grin fell sheepish. "Oh.. uh.. I mean, if you guys wanted to explore that is," she added quickly, a nervous laugh escaping her before her gaze fell tot he ground; watching each step she took.

Desiree couldn't help but smile at Avani's enthusiasm. She'd been thinking more or less the same thing after all. "The temples sound really interesting don't they? I got excited when I first heard about them too. I actually love learning about the history of things, so a trip to the temples would be perfect. I'm all for exploring, as long as we don't forget to challenge the gyms and battle random Trainers and stuff. You have to sample all the Trainer life can offer, right?" She grins a little. "Oh and don't worry about your strength, the three of us are novice Trainers still, no one is expecting us to be super strong from the get go." She pauses for just a moment, and laughs. "Well, getting stronger is still the only way to achieve my goal of course, so let's support each other in becoming the strongest we can be, eh?"

"I...actually know almost nothing about the Temples. It could be an interesting learning experience" He raised an eyebrow as Desiree mentions getting stronger "Yeah. Next time we see those guys, we aren't gonna lose. I won't be caught off guard twice by the same trick after all."
He smiled a little as he thought of going off the routes and seeing all the region had to offer, reminding him of his time in Eterna Forest back home "I hope it isn't too dangerous off route. You find some of the most interesting stuff off the beaten path"

The professor chuckles at Avani's comment. "Ruins? Oh, no, my dear. If you could make them ruins, well... you'd probably be lauded. These things are pristine, seeming to be carved, seamlessly, out of a giant block of stone, with ornate carvings all around their surfaces. Each one is different, but they all have one thing in common. We can't so much as even scratch them. No tools, Pokémon, nothing. We've even tried sending Ghost Pokémon in through a place near the top that looks to be a doorway. They can't even pass through the surface. Anywhere, even."
"If you want to check one out... well, Lana would probably not approve of me detouring you south to see the closest one. But, there are two land-accessible ones within a day's travel from Kanadario, if you want to check those out. Either way, for the week or so after arriving in the city, there's going to be a conference. Annual event, attracts most of the people interested in the temples. Discussions are had, hypothesises proposed, and findings are shared." She gives a wry look. "I'd much rather not go, but, y'know, funding. Need to share my results, and all that, in order to keep it."

Desiree looked quite interested as the professor talked about the ruins. "Not even Ghost Pokémon have worked? That's... interesting. Really interesting." For a moment she wondered what it would be like to be the person to discover the temples' secrets. Then she switched back to reality. "Well, it would be nice to check out one of the temples once we've completed our business in Kanadario. What do you guys think? Might as well decide now so we know what we're doing later, right?"

Avani's face lit up at the conversation once again, grinning as Desiree addressed them. "I'd love to check one out! And if they are really in such amazing condition, impenetrable, then it's all the more interesting!" she laughed a bit, having an extra bounce in her step before her joy was cut short. A squeak emitting from her as she stumbled forward, foot having caught a root sticking up on the path and promptly landed face first into the dirt.
She took only a moment, stunned from the impact, before pulling herself to her knees. Dusting herself off she gave a nervous laugh, sheepish grin towards the group. "Ah, I'm alright.. heh.. I guess I should watch where I am going more..." she spoke, a little more meek in embarrassment before she pulled herself to her feet; gaze falling to the ground as her face lit up a bright pink.

"I think it would be a good place to start our adventure. Which one would you recommend visiting first Professor?" Donovan asks before watching Avani go down.
He starts to reach out to help her up but she was already back on her feet "Are uh....Are you sure you're ok?" He asks, his voice showing his concern.

"Well," she says, responding to Donovan, "The ones to the north and south of Kanadario are... essentially equidistant. The one to the south would probably be the best bet, though, if you want to detour there before hitting the city. Dependant on how long we spent there it would only be, oh, maybe a few hours out of our way? If we push traveling, we might even be able to spend the second night there." Meanwhile, the road that you're on passes a large clearing. Standing in it, grazing on the grass, are over a dozen bright pink quadrupeds - though, they have spots of green in their pelts - one of them larger than the rest. Amongst the herd, you can see a few flashes of yellow, sporadically bouncing around, though you can't figure out what they are. Roll Perception if you want to see what the yellow is.
