Hey there! So, you’re a GM wanting to set up a game?
Well, here’s what your post should look like:
Now, for the post itself! What should it have?
Well, here’s what your post should look like:
TOPIC TITLE: This is important, because not only is it what’s going to grab your players’ attention, but it will also tell them a little about your game. This is where the tags come in. Add any that are applicable:
- [PTA] This tag means that the system is Pokémon Tabletop Adventures.
- [PTU] This tag means that the system is Pokémon Tabletop United.
- [PTX] This tag means that the system is a Pokémon Tabletop system of your own creation.
- [Roll20] This tag means that Roll20 will be used for maps, and perhaps dice.
- [Skype] This tag means that the game will have a Skype chat, and players will be expected to join.
- [Closed] This tag should be put on any game that has finished recruitment, to let players know not to apply.
A sample topic title would be: [PTU] [Skype] [Roll20] To Become a Master.
This tells players that the system played is Pokémon Tabletop United, Roll20 will be used for maps, and players will be expected to join a Skype chat.
An important reminder is that we are not a board to advertise for games played on other sites. Games played here must be Play by Post, rather than Real Time, and must be played primarily on the Pokémon by Post boards. If you wish to recruit for a different method, we recommend using the main Pokémon Tabletop site’s Union Room. Also, all games here must be some variant of Pokémon Tabletop.
Now, for the post itself! What should it have?
PLOT: Tell us about the world that your campaign is set in, what the tone and genre of the game is going to be, and what the players are doing in it. A good rule of thumb is a few paragraphs. You want to make sure that your players know what your campaign is all about, so don’t be stingy. So, I think that’s everything! If you feel that something’s missing, though, make sure to add it to your post. Good luck!
PLAYERS: Tell us how many players you want. A good recommendation is to only have 3-4, but some ambitious GMs want more.
CHARACTERS: This is the part that everyone wants to see. Here’s what you should think of when making your campaign:
- Trainer Level
- Number and Levels of Starter Pokémon
- Allowed Starting Pokemon
- Starting Cash
- Starting Equipment
BANNED MATERIAL: Some common bans are:
- No Supernaturals: Banning this implies a ban on all Supernatural classes in the core book as well as all classes in the Fantasy splatbook except for Weapon Classes, and bans the Glitch Bender class in the Sci-Fi splat.
- No Sci-Fi: This bans everything in the Do Porygon Dream of Mareep splatbook.
- No Fantasy: This bans everything in the Game of Throhs splatbook.
- No Legendary: This bans everything in the Blessed and the Damned splatbook. This is generally considered banned unless otherwise specified.
