==Star Top Village== The lazy attitude that seemed to permeate over the small collection of houses in the village nonetheless failed to contain the sense of adventure that welled up in every young boy and girl. A gentle and sweet smelling breeze blew through the village, and the only real sounds were that of those few Trainers here to speak to the Professor. The houses were small, though a Pokemon Center was present along with a Poke Mart. The Professor's Lab was always a destination, and to the north of the village was the pathway leading to the meadows themselves. A kiosk was set up in front of the Pokemon Center, though it seemed to be in use by a pair of individuals dressed in matching black uniforms, the uniforms themselves having a militaristic bent that wasn't normal for the area.
Sylvester waltzed into the villiage, happy as a clamperl! He'd just signed up for... whatever it was, and it meant he got to begin his journey. His journey to stardom! Zadlo, a Skorupi, is resting on Sylvester's shoulder. A Durant walks by his side, with curious small wings coming from it's back. She looks up to her trainer, wondering why they stopped.
He turns in place a few times, nearly throwing the small insect off. Who promptly wakes up, and beings poking Sylvester in the head with alternating pincers. Seemingly non-plussed by the pokes, he wonders aloud.
"Oh so many choices! Perhaps we should just head straight off to the meadow to find new stars? Or maybe the professor has some insight?"
He turns toward the kiosk and sees the two men, and quickly turns away.
Tifa sat in the pokemon center, reading her medical books, and humming happily to herself. After a bit of waiting, a nurse comes out with a big, light blue dinosaur. The Amaura spots its pink haired owner, and happily runs to her, nearly bowling her over. Tifa hugs the cold creature, and pets her. "Hi there, Lala! Did you have fun during your check-up?" Lala licks tifa's face, and she giggles. "I'm glad. Good girl!" She then turns around to refer to her other partner. "Lulu, you ready to-..." She pauses as she stares the the lazy Braixen sleeping on the bench. tifa sighs, and shakes her awake. "Lulu....Lulu...Really, Lulu? You can't just sleep, and take up the whole bench. People here might want to sit down, and you are-..." Lulu just waves her away, grumbles, and turns over. Tifa's cheeks puff up, and slightly flush red. "Honestly...What am I gonna do with you? Come on!" She pulls her Braixen up despite her protest, grumbling, and yips. "We are ready to leave, Lulu. Now come on. Let's g-...." She turns, and sees the empty space next to her. "......Where is Lala?" She quickly turns towards the commotion near the corner of the lobby, and sees her Amaura eating a potted plant while nurses struggle to get it back. Tifa lets out a yelp, and rushes to her pokemon. She succeeds in getting Lala to let go, and tries pushing her pokes out the door. "I'm so so so sososo sorry! She's still just a baby, and I apologize for any inconvenience!" She lets out an exhausted sigh, and accidentally bumps into some people in black standing outside. "OH! Oh gosh!....I-I'm really sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going, and I apologize!"
El dashed out of her house with an ecstatic burst of energy, shouting goodbye to her parents loud and clear across practically across the entire village with how small it was. She was wearing a tiny backpack patterned with waves, poking out of which was the bouncing pink face of her beloved companion Corsola, snug and happy not to try to keep up with her trainer like normal.
Although El was more than eager to head straight for the professor's lab in order to officially start her journey as a trainer, she slowed down as she saw a boy stop near the pokemon center and look around, and, being the friendly girl she is, decided to check in to see if he needed help at all. "Hi! Are ya new to Star Top? Want me to help ya 'round?"
Sylvester spins around some more before finally landing in a spot to view the girl. The Skorupi has not stopped it's poke-fest.
"Oh... Oh! Why yes!"
Sylvester pauses, having a very weird sense of deja vu. She shakes it off, it's probably nothing.
"Ah yes I'm not sure where to go. I believe it was recommended to be to head to Star Top in order to start my journey but I'm not sure if a visit to the Professor is needed, or if I can just go out on my own. Too many options to choose from!
El brightly grins back at the pretty boy (she really likes his hair especially) and exclaims, "I'm on my way to see Connor right now! I can take you to the lab if you want! My name's El, by the way!" She then whirls around to show off her own partner tucked partially in her backpack. "And she's Kai!" The bundle of pink, spiky coral blows some bubbles in the boy's direction in greeting.
In the corner of the PokeCenter, a small girl with a black hood huddles over a small brown pokemon cradled in her arms. A few pure white strands of hair hangs out of her hood, and a delicate hand fidgets with a strand as she quietly whispers to the seemingly content pig in her arms. "I-I... at least it's not a bigger city, right Rush? I can talk to some people here... probably... and I know that I arrived here two days ago and stayed in the Pokecenter and didn't actually manage to talk to the lady at the front desk so I just stayed out in the woods instead... but I tried to get the courage to talk to her for thirty minutes or so. That's progress, right? Right?"
She was about to continue murmuring to Rush further when a small hubbub began up in a corner a few feet away from her. Alara looks up in surprise, nearly jumping out of her seat, but then begins to blink in curiosity at the little blue dinosaur, attempting to munch on its leaves as the people harried it. She had never seen one like that before, but she was almost certain it was an ice type. She almost wanted to go over there and claim it herself... However, before she had the chance to do that, the loud, pink haired girl from elsewhere in the room runs over and in a storm begins to push the thing towards the door. Alara sighs slightly in disappointment at the departure of the little blue pokemon, and then a realization comes to her: if she approached the pokemon first, then the trainer would have to talk to her, right?
She stands up in order to follow the girl, Rush letting out a small snort of surprise and the sudden movement (and Alara squeezing him a little too tightly as she does so). She watches as the girl goes on a collision course with the people outside, and almost raises her voice in warning, but by the time she had almost gotten it out, she was too late. Quickly, she rushes over to the door, and, being self-conscious, stands at the very edge of it on the inside, only her head poking out from the side of the door as she addresses the pink haired girl. "I... I... ah are you... ... ... alright?"
Tifa spins around looking a bit frazzled as so many things are happening at once! "Once again, I'm soooo very sor-!" She stops, and blinks at girl in front of her. She takes a moment to fix her hair, and hat before she speaks properly. "Oh, yes I'm alright. Thank you. I'm sorry if you were disturbed by us causing quite a ruckus. Lala here is still quite young, and she doesn't know any better." She smiles, and a blue head with big bright eyes, peeks over her shoulder at the girl. The Braxien, on the other hand, suddenly puts itself in between Tifa, and the girl. It gives her a look, and then inspects her from head to toe, almost sizing her up. "Ah!....Oh Lulu, please. I don't think she means any harm." Lulu looks back at her, and lets out some fast, chattering, and glares back at the girl. Tifa places a hand on Lulu's shoulder, and holds her back. "Oh gosh...I really am sorry, but Lulu is rather...protective. You see, I'm a member of the Church of Diancie, and I've run into....um...conflict? Mhm. Conflict with some people with...differing opinon. So, Lulu tends to keep an eye out so please don't fret. Anyways, I'm Tifa Lorelai. Nice to meet you." Tifa beams, Lulu huffs and turns away, and Lala looks around, curiously.
== Professor's Lab == Connor Flik was a simple man, despite his reputation. A professor studying Pokemon battling, whether it was the moves, the abilities, the powers, the types, the many different ways a Pokemon differed from even others of its own kind, he was intent on treating every new study as though it was his last.
He was deep in his ruminations when he finally heard two younger folk approach him. As El and Sylvester walked to him, he whirled around to face them. "Tell me, you two. Is Pokemon battling an art form? Can it be one?"
His question somehow seemed far deeper than it needed to be.
== Pokemon Center == Somehow, despite the commotion, the sleepiness of the town meant any reaction was minor. It was a slow day today, though one Trainer in particular seemed to be bothered. The large and intimidating man walked over to Tifa and Alara. He only wore a leather bomber jacket, forgoing a shirt, and thick black jeans. His large combat boots had a thud with every step, and he wore a helmet with a row of spikes on it. His eyes were hidden behind red goggles that seemed to be part of the helmet. His size was humongous, almost comparable to a Slaking, and he was more muscle than fat.
"You two girls. Keep your Pokemon controlled. Antics like that annoy me. They make me want to wreck something. I won't wreck you two yet... I don't wreck girls without a reason. But if you disagree with me, we can fight right now!"
"Hiya Connor!" El let out a laugh as the professor sprung the question on them out of the blue. It was a common occurence to become involved in his thought process anytime someone visited the lab. This time however, she wondered if he had asked her this question before, but brushed it off. It seemed familiar, but maybe she was just imagining it.
"Anything can be art if that's what someone sees it as, and I know people will watch pokemon battles if they're exciting or amazing enough, just like any movie or dance or sport! I think that counts in my book!"
Sylvester flashes a Chesire grin at the professor.
"Greetings Professor! Sylvester Green, by the way, charmed. As for your question..."
Sylvester does a fancy spin and Zadlo is finally interrupted in his head-poking by nearly falling off of the boy, hanging onto his shirt. Sylvester guestures to El.
"El here is correct! Although I'd say that she's not correct enough! The passion! The competition! The drama! Anything with these elements can be art, or can even ascend further, to be a masterpiece! A battle between champion and challenger, with attacks so powerful they threaten to rip the skies apart!"
Sylvester makes a comical 'Bwooooosh' noise imitating an explosion.
"One lone trainer facing down an army, ready to fight till the last! And what I hope for myself, two individuals dressed in the flashiest clothing possible, with pokemon ready to wow the crowd in an attempt to win the hearts of the world!"
Sylvester strikes a pose before realizing he's still not alone, and coughs, putting his arms down.
"I'd hope that answers your question."
Zadlo finally climbs back up on his shoulder, gives a sigh of relief, and then goes right back to rapidly poking his trainer.
Tifa turns around, gasps, and gulps down the lump in her throat. "O-O-Oh my......I-I'm very sorry! We aren't here t-to cause trouble, sir." Tifa puts her hands up, defensively, and Lulu stands in between her trainer and the large ugly man with a defiant look on her face.
Alara blinks a few moment as the man begins uttering a threat, and a gear seems to shift in her mind. She suddenly stands up straighter, her posturing going from timid to confident, and she looks the man up and down, sizing him up with a glare. He certainly wouldn't be an easy target to take on, but at the same time she wasn't a fan of bullies. Rush, perhaps sensing his trainer's emotions, makes a small grunt of concern, and Alara blinks a few times, understanding the implication. He wasn't someone they should take on, alone. It would be best to get out of the situation. Alara walks over beside Tifa and awkwardly shifts Rush to be carried under one arm, like a football. With the other hand, she lightly grabs onto Tifa's arm and dragging her away, towards the center of town. She tried to open her mouth to say something for a few moments, but her confidence was quickly failing her, so she quickly shut it before making a fool of herself. Just getting the other girl out of the situation was good enough, no words necessary.
Tifa almost looses her balance, but is able to get pulled away to safety. She snaps her fingers, and calls her pokemon to follow her. They all finally come to a stop in the center of town. She sighs, and readjusts her hat. "My oh my....That was scary. Anyways, thank you very much, Miss....Oh I'm so sorry. I never got your name." She smiles.
As they reach the center of town, Alara blinks a few moments and, realizing what she just did, suddenly flushes bright red. As the other girl asks her name, she blinks a few times and begins stammer, hugging Rush close to herself once more. "I- ah... Alara."
Tifa beams, and gives a deep bow. "Alara...That is very nice name. Thank you so much for getting us out of there. Today has just been really hectic. Also being in a new town is pretty intimidating too. Do you live here in this town?" She smiles, and tilts her head.
Alara blinks and nods a little, then without another word begins to lead the way to the lab.

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
