Solemn Cavern Team: Helios DestromNetteHenry LancasterBee BurtonCurrent Mission: SC158e Guild: Odyssey Mission: Defeat Brohm Location: Solemn Cavern
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: a. Locate and perform reconnaissance of Brohm's domain within the Solemn Cavern b. Defeat Brohm by any means
SECONDARY OBJECTIVES: a. Recover any artifacts related to Brohm
TARGET DETAILS a. Brohm is known to use a shield b. Brohm becomes more difficult to damage with certain conditions c. Brohm is known to summon minions
Current Map: Solemn Cavern~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A trip into the abyss, or at least into the darkness. Solemn Cavern remains poorly lit and would be in complete darkness save it where not for the faint pink glow emanating from the geo pole you came in through. The air retains a familiar humidity to those of you who were here last time and an ever constant flow of water reminds you of the hazards awaiting you. However, there was hope in the form of those grates, to stop you from being pulled under any forms of ground, just try not to drown.

"Hmm, you were right, it sure is dark in here. Well then, let there be light!"
So saying, Helios mutters a small spell and a ball of light appears from his outstretched hand and floats up to rest just above his head, illuminating the groups surroundings.

"Oooooooooooooooooooh" Nette hummed in awe as the sphere of light flew up over their heads. She stared at it for a while before shaking her head and refocusing on why they were actually there. To defeat a big baltoy and find artifacts! As they seemed to expect a ground type - and maybe some water ones too - she let her Phantump out. And on the account of levitating and all it might be able to help them across the water. To that end, Nette looked around them to actually try and see what Helios light had revealed, other than itself.

Bee gazes out over the water as Helios' spell lights up the room far more than the dim pink illumination of the Pole. "If anybody spots any Pokémon, call 'em out - remember that Lunari who found the passage wants to know what lives down here, too!"
She steps forward toward the edge of the big platform they came in by. Her newly-created Murkrow is perched on her shoulder - Bee's kind of hoping to make use of Lance in the actual battle against this Baltoy, but Swinub are not known for their skill in swimming or jumping, which are obviously going to be required to make their way around this cavern. "Hm, east or south first? And how good is everybody at jumping? I shoulda got some rope in town, the current's pretty strong in this place so swimming might be hard..." Bee thinks she can probably leapfrog all over the place - all the walking she does makes for strong legs - but that doesn't help everybody else much.

"Hmm." Nette considered Bee's question. Looking around she could see plenty of small 'islands' to the south, but only one to the east. So- she concluded -that direction should be the quickest one to finish; they ought to start there. "East I think. But the 'island' looks a little too far to jump to..." The forest spirit stared at the water for a while, trying to gauge exactly how quick it was, before shrugging and heading over to the 'beach'. She carefully removed her new and shiny shoes - wouldn't want them to get wet! ' - and carefully dipped her toes in the water. Maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked? --- OOC notes and stuff! Nette has a long jump capability of 2. But she can't really make the DC 20 acrobatics check to add to that and it looks like the distance between dry land and the closes islands are 3 steps.
However!
She does have Ingrain which prevents her from being Pushed or Pulled. Assuming the water isn't too deep - or stronger then say a Machamp trying to push you off your feet - she should be able to walk against the water.
Or at the very least stay put! If so she can jump 2 steps out into the water, Ingrain herself, and then act as an extra step whom the rest of the party may jump to and then continue onto the islands, hopefully pulling Nette up at the end.
Thoughts : )?

"Jumping? I'm not really built for such kinds of exertion..."
Helios knows there's no way he's going to be able to make any of these jumps. Perhaps he was mistaken in believing this was the correct location to assist with?
"You there, tree girl, uh... Nette? You seem strong; you'll have to carry me across, unless anyone has a pokemon with such capabilities."

Henry chuckled, listening to his companions. Jumping? Psh. As if they needed to do that. He stepped forward, next to Bee and pulled out his bow.
"If someone can hand me the rope, I should be able to make us a small bridge. That way those of us who are not confident in their jumping skills can walk across, albeit carefully." He nodded, mindful of Bee's suggestion. "I could let Sir Glubbington out and see what he can find underwater, if you'd like."

Thanks to Helios's light source, the party is able to see roughly 3 meters away without too much difficulty. Both Bee and Henry, who have currently made their way towards the edge start noticing that there's something strange about the water nearby. Part way to the first platform, and a bit to your lefts... you, just barely, notice more platforms. The color of these is such that it almost entirely blends into the water. However, your well trained eyes show the hallmark of true adventurers. Those with weaker eyes would entirely miss these platforms. It seems like it will provide a nice path to the first platform. From there, you'll need to bring your light source along to see if you can spot any more.

"Looks like we won't need it after all - look over there!" Bee points to the corner of their big platform, then slips past Henry to mark the spot herself. "Somebody camouflaged a walkway so you can't hardly see it against the water. I don't think I could even have spotted this in the dark... good thing you came along, huh, Helios?"
She steps out onto the first platform to demonstrate that it's solid.

"Of COURSE it's good I'm here. Though, did any of you actually think to bring a light of your own? I believe Farina did suggest it."
Helios walks with (or around) Bee to the first platform and peers around, hoping to spot more hidden platforms.
"Let's see if we can't find more of those things. Walking through this area is quite a bit more acceptable than climbing flimsy rope bridges or, Sun forbid, jumping"

"We brought you!" The forest spirit helpfully responds to Helios last comment and moves to pick him up in response to the first. But seeing as he managed to slip away she jumped down into the water to follow. "If Sir Glubbington can find more of these underwater paths we'll be done in no time!"

Henry chuckles, watching Sir Glubbington swim around as he follows the path they saw. "She's right. We WERE thinking about buying flashlights, but you're just so convenient and also FREE. So we decided to save the money this trip and just bring you along."

Bee follows Helios to the first platform, hoping to take advantage of his light to spot the next hidden path in the water. While Sir Glubbington searches the water from below, she'll do it from above. "Either way, with you here finding our way through will be a lot easier."

With Bee's excellent sight, the group is able to spot a path continuing forward. However, Bee is also able to pick up on same faint movement up ahead in the air but isn't able to pick up any details. Sir glubbington, on the other hand, is having a much harder time trying to keep up in the currents below you. While he's able to move forward, he is clearly putting forth a lot of effort to do so.

Helios proceeds to the next platform, scanning for threats or a more direct path further into the cavern (as opposed to the more winding path Bee has pointed out).

If he finds nothing (he isn't really expecting to), he then goes as far as he can on the currently observed path and continues probing the ground to find the continuation of the path.

Nette hurries after Helios, only catching up once the sun mage stops to survey the scene. As he does she takes the opportunity to lift him up on her shoulders. "There!" she proclaims as physical waves of helpfulness emanates from her. Athletics 18 Not (only) doing this to to annoy Helios by following and misapplying his earlier suggestion - I'm thinking the higher ground may make it easier for him to spot things!

"Ahh, what are you doing!?" complains Helios, as Nette lifts him off the ground suddenly and without warning. "Put me down! I'm trying to look for hidden paths here!"
He flails about in panic - he really wasn't ready to be lifted so suddenly, after all.

"Oh-ohoh Sorry! Sorry!!" Nette hurriedly tried to reverse herself, to mixed success, and put Helios down again. "I thought you wanted to be carried."

Henry chuckles, moving forward a bit to look around in tandem with Sir Glubbington. "Do you mind if I take a look?"
