Kat curses wildly as the psychic attack hits her, fighting back the immediate wave of nausea. She spits at the floor and snarls in the bat's direction, but the shivers that race across her body and the sudden weakness of her muscles prevent her from retaliating in any way. Not at all worried about his somewhat new mistress, Spark begins looking nervously over at the group of bats further along near the center of the room. Kat notices his change in attention. "Y-yeah, I'll be fine. Go ahead and blast 'em silly."Spark waddles around her and releases a jagged bolt of lightning towards the closest Zubat. Turning her eyes back to the evasive lil fluffball that had gotten her so squarely, Kat reaches for another pokeball, wincing. Topaz' crackling display of power tears through whatever meager defenses the Zubat could have hoped to muster, sending it into a tailspin of char and smoke before hitting the ground limply. Bunnie, taking a precaution, preforms a spinning dance that tightens her muscles and her guard. One of the two remaining Zubat, provoked beyond any sort of tactics, screams shrilly as it charges at the humans and their mon that had cut down its flockmates. Its wings glow brilliantly as it smashes into Topaz. Wing Attack AC 2: 8; Physical Flying Damage: 19 This proves a poor tactical choice as it gives Cecil a perfect shot at the enraged little bat. The Greaser's attack slams home, leaving the fanged little horror flopping weakly, barely able to keep itself in the air. The Woobat, sensing weakness, follows up with another body-blow against Kat, this time bleeding off energy that seems to invert the colors of anything within its reach, crackling off of wings and fangs. Assurance AC 2: 9, Physical Dark Damage: 29 The final remaining Zubat zips forward, dipping its wings as if it's about to strike against Doug, before preforming a wingover and slashing trailing talons of the same dark energy at Cecil's torso. Feint Attack cannot miss. No crit. Physical Dark Damage: 23 Amber, seeing an opportunity, is quick to toss a pokeball at the heavily injured Zubat. The ball locks with barely a struggle. Female, Timid Zubat Level 14 Known moves: Wing Attack, Bite, Astonish, Supersonic, Leech Life Ability: Infiltrator Injuries: 2 Remaining HP: 9 Spark, following his trainer's command, waddles around her and moves in range of the remaining Zubat. The arc of electricity is brighter than Topaz's had been, but this bat seems to be made of tougher stuff, gamely hanging on by the merest slivers of energy. Unfortunately for it, dogged guts is little match for a mind-crushing blast of psychic energy, and it crumples in on itself, spasming as it hits the floor, before going fully unconscious from Clement's attack. Doug, seeing only one enemy left and the way Kat is concentrating on it, merely steps back and nuzzles briefly against Bunnie's ankle, careful of his spines. Fender, denied his initial target, attempts to smack down the sole remaining enemy. The Woobat proves too agile though, avoiding the rocks. This however, provides a perfect setup for Kat to throw her second pokeball. It connects, and drops to the ground shaking. The "ping" as it locks is very loud in the sudden silence. Naughty Female Woobat Level 15 Known moves: Heart Stamp, Assurance, Gust, Odor Sleuth, Confusion, Charm Ability: Klutz Injuries: 0 Remaining HP: 27 The group is once more able to breathe easy, having felled or captured the small flock of bat-like pokemon. Bunnie is trembling slightly even as she reaches down and gives Doug a small scratch behind his ears, smiling shakily as the Nidoran thumps his leg in appreciation. "Is... is everyone alright?" Rewards 225 XP to be split amongst your mon.

Kat grunts in disgust, then wipes off the trickle of blood running from her nose-- the little creature had hit harder than expected, and she could feel a deep ache that hadn't been there earlier. No doubt the cause of the little bit of blood, but she'd have to remember to get it checked regardless. For the time being, she pinched it shut and went to retrieve both the successful capture and the ball she'd tossed wide. "Been better," she mutters at Bennie's question, but flashes the other girl a grin despite it. "Ain't seen one'a these lil shits before, not that I'm in any flippin' hurry to let it back out after it bashed my face in like that. Egh. Everyone else still in one piece? Doubt this place is done throwin' creeps and crawlies at us. I find it fair hard to believe that these flappy fellas are what caused all the earlier thudding. Or the rest've it."She fiddles with her pack one-handed for a minute before fetching a bottle of enriched water and downing it, using the last little bit to scrub the blood from her upper lip. Kat uses one Enriched Water. Now at 50/70 HP. Doesn't heal her injury though.

Christine winces at the effects of Clement's psychic attack on the bat. She'd began to get more used to him over the past few days, and had been getting more comfortable with the less ferocious-looking Pokémon... but this was a stark reminder that even something so innocuous looking was still a weapon.
After the brief flurry of violence, though, it settles down into a silence. Christine casts her gaze over the field, glancing over the results. Thankfully, no one seems to be severely injured, which is good. Those fangs had looked like they could do some damage. "I'm fine. But I wasn't in the thick of things. Does anyone else need anything?"
Making sure that everything really was quiet, Christine focusses her attention on the azure ball that she'd caught the larger bat in, ensuring that it isn't going to suddenly escape. Her confidence buoyed, she begins towards it, faltering only when she notices Clement briefly flash. She watches him momentarily, but he only seems to bounce around, so she returns to her task at hand - except that the first step propels her into the air. She lets out a brief cry, before remembering where they all are, and swiftly clamps a hand over her mouth.
She spends several wide-eyed seconds frozen in the air, registering that her feet are now about level with the heads of the others. Clement seems to enjoy it, though, bobbing up to her level. She recalls the flash, and hesitantly asks, "Did... you do this?"
The only response is an unhelpful chime, followed by Clement floating the ball that she was going to retrieve up to him, where he seems to amuse himself by orbiting it around his body. "Hey, give that here!" she says, briefly forgetting her predicament in annoyance at the bell, and his nonchalance at the situation. A cheerful-sounding chime is the only response, followed by the Chingling holding his position. Christine tries lunging for it, and, to her surprise, she actually moves and grabs it out of the bell's telekinetic grasp.
She looks down in surprise at the fact that she'd moved... and, with almost comical timing, gravity seems to notice that she is in violation of it, and she falls back to the ground with a thud and some shock - of both varieties. Picking herself up, and making sure nothing's sprained or broken, she looks at the others with incredulity, speechless for the moment.

The wind blast to the face wasn't so bad on it's own, but taking an angry chittering disease vector to the sternum really took it out of the greaser. He was finding it incredibly difficult to catch his breath as he went about gathering his weapon of choice from it's places on the floor. Slumping against the wall -not- underneath the balcony, he watched Clement's shenanigans with tepid interest, but even a few minutes of just breathing it wasn't really going much better.
"Your Vault Dex -did- warn you it was a psychic type... but yeah I could probably use a once over... little shit caught me in the diaphram. Should keep moving after that. Don't want to deal with too much of that. Fender...Buddy... gotta talk about... this bodyguard thing... shooting rocks is good... maybe move a bit more."
The Aron simply stared with it's bright blue eyes, and made a small hollow chuff.

"You don't sound too good," Christine says, quickly hurrying over to Cecil as soon as she's confident that she won't launch into the air again. He doesn't look too good, either.
After a few minutes of appraisal and working on him, she concludes, "Okay, well, the good news is that most of it seems to be superficial damage. It should be well on its way to healing, but let me know if anything flares up again." She changes from her serious diagnostic tone, into one that clearly conveys that she's joking. "The bad news is that to keep from aggravating it, you should probably keep from talking as much as possible."

Cecil bobs his head, a thin, mirthful smirk across his face joined by the quirking of an eyebrow. "Mahuh... you're real broken up over it, chsssshhh..." With another little chuckle, and a second look at Christine, he righted himself. Just when I figure I got her pegged she surprises me. Suppose we all got some growing to do.

Amber wrinkles her nose, picking up the newly caught pokemon, and tucks it in her pocket with a shake of her head. She'll examine it later, she thinks, maybe see if it has any uses besides terrifying people. "Good job, Topaz~" She says softly as she leans down to scoop the pikachu back into her arms, kissing its forehead before glancing around.
"I'm fine," She says in response to the inquiries, looking Topaz over as the pokemon squirms in her arms. "Both of us, I think."
With that, she glances in the direction the swarm had entered, and takes a few steps in that direction to get a good look down the entrance--there are't any more, are there?

As the rest of the group freshens up and recovers from the short battler, Amber takes a look through the doorway. Beyond it lies a corridor stretching lengthwise in a sort of truncated T-intersection, with signs pointing to the left reading "Block A", "Barracks", "Armory" and "Mess Hall" while those pointing to the right read "Block B", "Block C", "Medical" and "Utilities". The signs are only barely legible with the emergency lighting; though a flick of a switch on her Vault-Dex activates a flashlight feature. The young woman hears no signs of more incoming fanged flyers. There are very faint noises in the distance however, indicating that there are very likely more creatures still eking out an existence down here. Thankfully the swarm seems to have driven them deeper into the vault for now. ʭːːˌˊˏˈʁ˅ː˘ˏʁˊˏʁ˕ˉˆʁ˅ˊ˓ˆ˄˕ˊːˏʁːˇʁ˕ˉˆʁʃʶ˕ˊˍˊ˕ˊˆ˔ʃʁ˔ˊˈˏʍʁ˚ː˖ʁ˕ˉˊˏˌʁ˚ː˖ʁˎˊˈˉ˕ʁ˃ˆʁ˔ˆˆˊˏˈʁ˕ˉˆʁ˕˂ˊˍʁˆ˅ˈˆʁːˇʁ˂ʁ˅ˆ˃˓ˊ˔ʁˑˊˍˆʁ˂˓ː˖ˏ˅ʁ˕ˉˆʁ˄ː˓ˏˆ˓ʏʁʵˉˆʁ˄ː˓˓ˊ˅ː˓ʁ˕ˉˆ˓ˆʁˎ˂˚ʁˉ˂˗ˆʁ˄ːˍˍ˂ˑ˔ˆ˅ʁ˅˖ˆʁ˕ːʁˍ˂˄ˌʁːˇʁˎ˂ˊˏ˕ˆˏ˂ˏ˄ˆʏʏʏʁʁʵˉ˂ˏˌˇ˖ˍˍ˚ʍʁ˚ː˖ʈ˓ˆʁˑ˓ˆ˕˕˚ʁ˔˖˓ˆʁ˂ˍˍː˘ˊˏˈʁˎ˖ˍ˕ˊˑˍˆʁ˂˄˄ˆ˔˔ʁ˓ː˖˕ˆ˔ʁ˕ːʁˌˆ˚ʁʷ˂˖ˍ˕ʁˍː˄˂˕ˊːˏ˔ʁ˘˂˔ʁ˂ʁˌˆ˚ʁ˄ːˎˑːˏˆˏ˕ʁːˇʁ˕ˉˆʁˈˆˏˆ˓˂ˍʁˍ˂˚ː˖˕ʁ˕ˉˆ˔ˆʁˑˍ˂˄ˆ˔ʁˉ˂˗ˆʏʁʁʢ˕ʁˍˆ˂˔˕ʍʁ˕ˉ˂˕ʈ˔ʁˉː˘ʁˊ˕ʁ˘ː˓ˌˆ˅ʁ˃˂˄ˌʁˉːˎˆʏØ

Christine gets a small sense of satisfaction at getting a chuckle out of Cecil. Of course, anyone who has worked with her closely for a prolonged period of time would be able to tell that this isn't really a good sign. The worse a situation is, the more she tries to make patients feel at ease, in whatever way possible. In this case, Cecil's fine, relatively speaking... but the whole situation of being trapped underground, with limited food and who-knows-how-many Pokémon, is just making her tense. It's quite possible that the next few days could be everyone's last, and that's not something that she wants anyone dwelling on.
Before even considering letting out her most recently caught Pokémon, she looks to see what the Dex has on it, if anything. While that search is happening, she heads over to where Amber is. "Find anything?" she asks, quietly.

Amber frowns, peering down the hallway. "Looks...reasonably clear," She says after a small pause. "But I think the easy route might be blocked--going to have to try and see if we can get around the tunnel collapse. Is Cecil okay?"

"He's fine, as far as I can tell," she responds, "Might want to take things a little easier, but I doubt that'll happen, knowing him."
She looks at where Amber's flashlight is pointing. "Hmmm... 'Utilities'. That's where power and stuff would be, right? You'd know better than me, though. In the same direction as medical, too..."

Cecil gives Amber a thumbs up and recalls Fender without a word. It does admittedly still cause some discomfort to talk, or breathe, better to not stress it. Eyeballing the sign for a moment, he nods his agreement with Christine's statement. Freeing his Skrubbing, he gestures for it to head down that hallway. Keeping back from the ball of light, he continues to skulk as best he can, using it to define the pathway. 1DHuZm4C4d6+3 Stealth 3d6 Perception 4d6+3·3d6

Kat watches the group's interactions with a sense of muted jealousy, both for the ease with which they spoke and their familiarity for the environment. It was no doubt very different from their own Vault-- given the grime and danger and clear signs this place had gone to shit-- but they didn't seem immediately concerned that there was no foreseeable way out. That reminder sent a tremor across Kat's skin and she swallowed hard, unable to resist glancing up at the ceiling and wondering how many tons of earth and stone were keeping her away from the sunlight. Guhh. You chose to throw your stick in with this lot, now suck it up, girlie. She stumbled towards Bunnie, then changed her mind and made a beeline for Cecil, fingers shaky around her weapon. "W-what cn'I do ta help?" she gritted out, trying to mimic his stealth through her lowkey panic, hoping it didn't show too badly through her determination to stay focused. "You're doing fine... already." Cecil's hand gravitated to the bandaged spot on his chest while he spoke, the dim green lighting some distance ahead just barely providing a profile of his face. "This ain't... my turf either. Long as we keep up a confident front... the softies got no reason to panic. Eyes open." There was a faint flash of his teeth, the boy finding cause to smile even though things are hard, his voice a whisper intended only for Kat.
"Don't think about the... elevator. Amber's a great tech. You an me, we're scrappers... we got mon backing us too. Gotta keep it together for everybody. Fear makes people sloppy." It was as much to convince himself as it was her.

Kat exhales sharply through her nose, a mockery of a laugh, and lets one side of her lips pull up. "I ain't about to go hide in a goddamn corner," she cuts back with a grin, though she does have to readjust her grip on the weapon slightly. "I messed up, lettin' them get hurt. Lettin' you get hurt."
And letting myself get hurt, she thinks, feeling the ache in her face, particularly around her hopefully-not-broken nose. Whatever. Suck it up.
She rolls her shoulders back and turns her eyes to the corridor, holding her breath to a count of seven to clear the jitters. Cecil was right, of course. Instead of worrying about shit she couldn't fix, it was best she put her energy towards the tasks she could handle.
Turning back slightly, she lowers her voice and addresses Christine: "Got anymore of them healin' patches? 'Spose I should be in best possible condition if somethin' else comes roarin down the halls at us."

"Oh, uh, yeah," Christine says, surprised as Kat unexpectedly comes up to her. "One moment." She rummages around in her pack for a few moments, trying not to think about 'something coming roaring down the halls', before finally finding what she's looking for, and handing Kat the blue packet. "There you go, that should help. Let me know if it doesn't, though. Might need to give you something more potent. Don't worry, though. I've got plenty."

Cecil and Kat's creeping down the corridor after the exchange with the others is undisturbed by attack. The hall has a few doors along it before the hard left that leads to the Utilities section according to the signs illuminated by the softly glowing Skrubbing; most of them either stand open, or in one case appear to have been pried open much like the doors that led into the atrium. Inside the two scouts catch sight of tables bolted to the floor, chairs that were knocked over backwards, shattered glass bottles and mugs giving them the appearance of small break rooms. The room with the wrenched open doors is slightly larger, but the majority of the room is out of sight without entering the doorway proper; however there are softly waving strands of what looks like cobwebs drifting in the fitful air currents provided by the ancient ventilation systems. The door is partially obstructed by another makeshift barricade ŷƋƌƖŃƌƖŃƗƋƈŃƕƒƒƐŃŦƈƆƌƏŃƖƄƚŃƗƋƈŃƖƋƄƇƒƚƖŃƅƈƌƑƊŃƆƄƖƗŃƉƕƒƐőşƅƕšè A few yards past that is the turn in the tunnel that leads towards the Utilities... or at least, where it should be. Piled and mounded rubble chokes much of the hall; the main path towards the Utility section is inaccessible to all but possibly Amber. Slight as she is, she may be able to slip through the small gap at the top. To the immediate right of the cave-in though is a secondary path, the remnants of the sign on the wall next to it saying "-edical." These doors are not torn asunder, rather they are melted and hardened into grotesque asymmetrical shapes that flow down the sides of the door frame, showing that they were incredibly thick and durable. ƛƱDŽŰljƿDžŰǀƹƳƻŰDžǀŰƱŰƸƹƾDŽŰƿƶŰDŽƸƱDŽŰǃƱƽƵŰƸƿǂǂƹƲƼƵŰǃƽƵƼƼŰDŽƸƱDŽŰljƿDžŰƸƱƴŰƳƱDžƷƸDŽŰƵƱǂƼƹƵǂżŰDŽƸƿDžƷƸŰƽDžƳƸŰƼƹƷƸDŽƵǂžƌƲǂƎè

As Kat and Cecil scout ahead, the Vault-Dexes have been hard at work analyzing the new additions to the teams. Skrubbing:The Clean Air pokemon. This genetically modified variant of the typically toxic Koffing line has been spliced with numerous plant traits. This experiment resulted in a pokemon that rather than producing toxic fumes and unstable gases within its body, takes in stale and toxic air, purifying it and releasing breathable air. This species is the copyrighted property of Genetico, and any instances of it being found in the wild are to be reported to the authorities immediately. Zubat: The Bat pokemon. An early experiment in genetic modification and engineering, Zubat proved to be wildly successful. Perhaps too much so. Several breeding pairs escaped from a lab that was attacked by "animal rights" activists; and the population proved capable of not only interbreeding with the local bat population, but was also able to massively out-compete them. Zubats have overtaken the majority of ecological niches once held by more common varieties of standard bat, leaving the base animal that it spawned from teetering on the brink of extinction. Zubat bites are incredibly venomous due to venom glands within their upper jaws. However, diligent trainers have reported that if well cared for, the nuisance creature can become a fast companion and a powerful fighter. Military strategists are currently looking into these claims in order to possibly turn a common pest into another way to gain an advantage over our enemies. Woobat: Woobat was an attempt by the same team of researchers that had created Zubat to stem the tide of their creation's spread. Using [REDACTED] DNA and splicing in a number of larger bat species into the mix, they produced what they thought would be the perfect counter to the toxic menace. Alas it was not to be. While Woobat's abilities made it singularly talented at fighting Zubat in laboratory conditions, the species as a whole has a much less combative outlook. When released into the wild, rather than destroying Zubat, they comingled with the flocks, their base DNA allowing them to interbreed and increase Woobat numbers exponentially. Thankfully they are very shy, and avoid humans, though occasional reports exist of Woobat singling out a human and trailing them. WARNING, PSYCHIC ENERGIES DETECTED. Turn over to the nearest authority at once Noibat:
The Sound Wave pokemon. Working on the Zubat base, Noibat were one researcher's attempt to see if there was any way to properly weaponize the creature. Introducing Altaria DNA sequences led to an amazing transformation. Noibat are able to not only detect ultrasound with their specialized ears, but can emit such soundwaves as well. Some specimens have even been recording creating pressure waves utilizing sound that were able to literally blast through walls. The "dragon" typing of the implanted DNA also seems to have purged any remnants of toxins from the species, leaving a curious and very clean pokemon, albeit one that must be handled with care, lest it destroy any glass or other brittle objects with a careless blast of Ultrasound. They've become popular with spelunkers, while the military has looked into training them as counter-radar units to deter enemy bombers from launching attacks on American soil.

"We all got our reasons for being here. Preciate you wanting to be the only one to bleed, but that ain't how it works." Cecil playfully chided with those continued breathy pauses, letting his volume pick up so the girls could hear. "Our vault is dying, mechanically speaking. If we can fix it, those people can keep on keepin' on with their heads in the sand and not have to know how shit things are on the surface."
With a sharp exhale and another gesture to the Skrubing, Cecil started warily into the cobweb strewn room. "This was where I saw what looked like a woman. Don't want strangers at our backs." He explained. It was easier to deal with the ominous quiet and odd sharp sound to pierce the vault with the trickle of conversation. Little more dangerous maybe, but it settled the nerves. "Pretty easy life compared to scrounging, pokerus, raiders, and rampaging bioweapons. Mom's the only one that mattered to me down there, before I got to know these three." Cecil jerked his head back towards the others, and quieted again as they pressed into new territory once more.
