As the elevator begins to take the doughty group into the bowels of the earth, the screen set into one of the walls begins to flicker and hum, before coming to life. Canned trumpet music plays as a cartoon man in a vault jumpsuit walks proudly onscreen, before a narrator begins to speak. Hello, and welcome you lucky people to Vault 116. You've been handpicked as the best of the best in terms of physical and mental condition, in order to survive in the event of an apocolyptic disaster. With the rising tensions and your location so close to the newly claimed Canadian frontier, this will be your home away from home in the event that a catastrophic bio-weapon attack is launched against the good 'ol US of A!The cartoon figure spins into a vague tornado, before coming to a stop dressed in a star-spangled tophat and suit, a goatee adorning his chin and proudly saluting what many of you recognize as the flag of the Old World USA. While this will be a terrible, terrible event, rest assured that you and your families will be well provided for, with all the comforts of home! Vault Boy is now shown sitting on a recliner, smoking a pipe and reading a book, before looking up and holding up a pokeball, a question mark appearing above his head. Unfortunately for Vault security, any pokemon you may have brought with you will have to be turned over to the security team and medical staff for quarentine and review. Rest assured however, your faithful friends will be returned to you when it's determined that they're not a risk to the Vault as a whole. The pokeball vanishes from Vault Boy's hand, before there's a loud purr, followed by a huge feline trotting up and stropping its head against his leg. See now? Nothing to worry about.

Christine ponders over the message for a few moments, as the elevator descends. It was nice to be back in the confined space of the (or, rather a Vault), but she can't dwell on that. "So..." she begins, "that does bring up a good point. What are we going to do about our Pokémon, if there are people here? I don't want them taken away, but... I also can't abide by the possibility of infecting a whole Vault with the Pokérus." She takes a breath. "Well, ideally, I suppose, there'd be - because it'd mean people - security here, that could be reasoned with, where we could barter or something for the parts we need." She gives a bit of a grim smile, though. "Given how things have been going, though... I doubt that that'll happen."

Kat feels for her gas mask anxiously as the stale air hits her. The flickering lights on the panel beside the door meant nothing to her, and she was about to ask about their purpose when the gates shut, closing them in. The question turned to bitter curses under her breath; she unconsciously hunched her shoulders and scrunched her nose, and as an afterthought pulled her goggles down over her eyes.
"I don't fuckin' like this one bit," she growled into the small space, tightening her grip on her weapon-- just in case.

Amber glances around idly at the inside of the elevator--and freezes as her gaze catches on the thin vents in the walls. "Don't touch anything," She mutters, frowning. There had been something about sleeping gas or something, hadn't there? "And, um, put on your gas masks if you have them, just in case."
She pulls out a long, slender tool to slip into the vent.

It takes a few sharp twists and a little bit of inventive leverage, but thanks to Amber's quick thinking and knowledge of Vault-Tec systems, she's able to trip a manual override on the vents, causing them to close just before they can begin spewing out whatever payload is still in them after two hundred years. On the screen, the video continues to play. So just relax, take a few deep breaths to acclimate yourselves to the increased pressure down here, and enjoy your stay in Vault 116! The video clicks off, and about thirty seconds later, the elevator finally comes to a halt. There's a hiss of pneumatics, and the doors open... to reveal a scene of desolation. The foyer of the Vault is fairly large, about thirty by twenty by twenty, with a second floor enclosed balcony. But the walls are chipped, rusted and faded, while the windows of the balcony are grimy and stained to the point of opaqueness. The pneumatic doors leading out of the foyer's north side appear to have been forced open at one point, and hang crookedly in their frames. On the west side there's another bank of windows and a door. The faded sign sticking over the entry reads "security check-in". And to the east is another door, this one smaller, perhaps a closet of some kind? Map The floor is dusty and cracked though otherwise seems to be relatively clean, the air is stale, though still breathable, and no security emerges to challenge your entry. "Huh? What's wrong, Amber?" Christine asks. She's used to the mechanic poking around, but there wasn't usually that tone of worry. It was generally more awe, distraction, or excitement. Or all at once. Upon exiting the elevator, she takes a few steps and just looks around. It was like home... but it wasn't. Not to mention, everything was all faded, all desolate. "Where... where is everyone?" she asks, uncertainly. "This is wrong... it shouldn't be like this," she continues, slowly making her way to the security station to see what was there, but rather distracted by the unkempt surroundings, as well as how both similar and yet different it was. "Either they've just given up on keeping things in proper condition, or something happened. If here's anything like our own, though, I... expect the latter."Perception: 9

Bunnie watches slackjawed as Amber does her thing, preventing whatever was in the vents from getting into their lungs. Even if it wasn't the knockout gas anymore, it probably wouldn't have been healthy. As the elevator comes to a stop, Bunnie puts an arm around her companion. "Amber, that was amazing. You work those fingers like that again and I might just have to kiss you." The elevator doors open and Bunnie can't say she's entirely surprised by what she sees. The mess, the wreck. "Wont lie, I was hoping this would be easy. Guess we might as well get ready for anything though." Bunnie sends out Doug. It had felt good to interact with him over the last couple days, although she keeps a tight grip on the gun still in the pocket of her new jacket. Perception: 6

Kat moves forward into the open room, still scrunching her nose in disgust. She lifts her gasmask just enough to say, "So let's get the shit you wanted and get out," before moving it back into place and reaching for the pokeballs at her belt. Netty and Briar wouldn't be much good with all the cold steel and linoleum around, she decided, and instead reached for the last among her pokemon, Spark. The little black-and-yellow fella surged forth from the ball with a crackle and a chitter of interest, testing the floor below him with a few curious stomps. Kat scans the area, looking for anything seemingly out of place. Perception: xl5HEf182d6+2

Cecil gently rolled his switchblade over in his pocket, thumbing at a corner and using a bit of pressure to keep that flutter in his chest from getting worse. "Animal wouldn't go scraping for a way out where there wasn't ever one to begin with. Pokemon I'm not so sure. Marks and stains are probably human, don't imagine this air would sit well with a body for long either." The boy commented, even as he pulled on his gas mask and checked that the filters were tight. "Kat, take point with me? Our vault didn't have Pokemon at all, just the stuff to grow them. Probably means this place is already rife with Pokerus. Alright Fender, need you out here, try not to eat anything."
The Aron appeared as a tiny ball of living steel does, and Cecil began slowly into the main room with it two steps ahead. "Amber, where are the bits and bobs we're looking for usually located?"

Amber flushes at Bunnie's comment and looks pointedly away, examining the surrounding open room. It's....well. She isn't filled with hope, in any case. If it's this empty, perhaps something had gone wrong with a filter or machine and the parts wouldn't even be useful?
"If it's similar to our own facilities, I guess it depends," She mutters to Cecil absently as she examines the surrounding room. "The lab, if they have one, will probably have some useful things, or they might have storage rooms or boiler systems or...well. Hopefully it won't be too complicated of a layout--just keep an eye out for maintenance signs, let me know if you find control boxes or anything."
She takes a few hesitant steps after Cecil, hearing Sapphire hiss in disappointment with the lack of sunlight to play with. He drops the piece of metal with a small /tink!/

The gazes of the party roam over the dilapidated room, trying to pry its secrets loose. Cecil and Amber both notice a very faint flickering glow through the armored glass windows of the security station. A functioning piece of electronics perhaps? ǎȌȳȻȩȺȩȶǤȸȬȩȭȶǤȥȸȸȩȲȸȭȳȲǤȭȷǤȨȶȥȻȲǰǤȥȰȳȲȫǤȻȭȸȬǤȏȥȸǫȷǿǤȸȳǤȸȬȩǤȰȳȪȸȽǤȥȶȱȳȶȩȨǤȻȭȲȨȳȻȷǤȸȬȥȸǤȴȶȩȷȹȱȥȦȰȽǤȰȩȥȨǤȸȳǤȸȬȩǤȓȺȩȶȷȩȩȶǫȷǤȳȪȪȭȧȩDzǤȗȳȱȩȸȬȭȲȫǤȧȥȲǤȦȩǤȷȩȩȲǤȱȳȺȭȲȫǤȸȬȶȳȹȫȬǤȸȬȩǤȫȶȭȱȩǤȥȲȨǤȷȸȥȭȲȷDzǪȲȦȷȴǿǤȗȳȱȩȸȬȭȲȫǤȬȹȲȧȬȩȨǰǤȥȲȨǤȬȹȱȥȲȳȭȨǤȥȲȨǤȻȶȳȲȫDzØ ɅɛɮȦȚɳɩɯɬȚɨɩɭɟȚɭɩɬɮɭȚɮɢɬɩɯɡɢȚɮɢɟȚɦɣɨɡɟɬɣɨɡȚɭɝɟɨɮɭȚɣɨȚɮɢɟȚɛɣɬȦȚɛɨɞȚɱɢɛɮȚɳɩɯȚɪɣɝɥȚɯɪȚɣɭȚɱɩɬɬɳɣɨɡȨȚȚɎɢɟɬɟȡɭȚɛȚɢɣɨɮȚɩɠȚɧɩɦɞȚɛɨɞȚɧɣɦɞɟɱȚɮɩȚɜɟȚɭɯɬɟȦȚɜɯɮȚɯɨɞɟɬȚɮɢɛɮȚɣɭȚɛȚɭɧɟɦɦȚɭɩɧɟɱɢɟɬɟȚɜɟɮɱɟɟɨȚɬɩɮɮɣɨɡȚɧɟɛɮȚɛɨɞȚɢɩɮȚɮɛɬȨȚȚɓɩɯȡɰɟȚɨɟɰɟɬȚɭɧɟɦɦɟɞȚɛɨɳɮɢɣɨɡȚɦɣɥɟȚɣɮȦȚɜɯɮȚɣɮȡɭȚɞɟɠɣɨɣɮɟɦɳȚɨɩɮȚɛɨȚɩɦɞȚɭɝɟɨɮȨØ To the side, the supposed closet door seems to be cracked ever so slightly, while opposite it, the security station's door is closed tight. Someone could potentially pick the lock on it though... The sound of Sapphire's dropped piece of metal seems to roll and echo in the corridors... and then very faintly in the distance, you all hear it. A deep resonant TONG, as if someone had just smacked a large pipe with a wrench.

"What was that?" Christine asks, quietly, as she looks around nervously. "That wasn't any of you, was it? I, uh, don't think we're alone down here." She turns to Amber, "Unless that's just a normal mechanical sound?" She doubts that that's the case, though.
She reaches for one of the Pokéballs on her belt, ready to release Bones if something sounds again. Best to be prepared... but at least Bones was a more defensive weapon. Hopefully if it was other humans, they wouldn't see him as too much of a threat. But, even more hopefully, nothing would happen.

"That is...very unlikely to be a normal noise," Amber says, frowning in the direction of the windows. "There's definitely something down here, two things for sure, probably more. Watch the windows, there's something up there and I...don't think we need to worry about infecting anyone with pokerus, Christine."

Cecil visibly bristled, eyes settling the same spot Amber and Kat glance to. "Well... let's hope this place doesn't disappoint for what we need. If we're going to go places we aren't supposed to be, may as well get into the safest one." Briefly trying the knob on the security door, he nods approvingly. "This looks pretty sturdy, I'll get it open. If we need to retreat or regroup we do it in here."
"Watch my back." He instructed Fender, who took it literally and stared at Cecil's back as he crouched in front of the lock and began to dig the tip of his knife into the locking mechanism, listening intently.

Kat stills-- the figure behind the window is one thing, but the smell is another. She wrinkles her nose, hunches her shoulders, and says quietly: "Something here reeks like a ransacked graveyard. Or worse. Smell that? I-- I ain't even sure what it is, exactly, but it ain't normal."
She firmly replaces the gas mask over her face, then nods to Cecil and falls in behind him, sledgehammer in hand. Spark follows up the rear of the scouting party, what little light there is glinting off his shiny exterior.

Whatever shadow or thing that Kat, Amber and Cecil all saw, it seems to have moved away from the windows when the others have their attention drawn to it. With Cecil's six being thoroughly covered, and no immediate threat revealing itself, he's able to devote his entire focus to the lock. After a few minutes, the final pin grudgingly slips into place, and the lock opens. Opening the door, you're immediately faced with a small barricade. A couple of tables that had been dismounted from the walls, a few cabinets, and a desk have been piled together, but they're easily moved over with a bit of wriggling. Unfortunately what you find past that is chilling. Two skeletons, picked clean and with shreds of fabric hanging off of them, a dark blue that reminds the Vault dwellers of the security team uniforms back home. One of the skeletons is still clutching the shattered remains of a pokeball, while the other has its hand stretching towards a trashed cabinet. There's a computer in here as well, a sturdy unit built directly into a desk; with a lightly glowing screen indicating that it still has power. It looks like it'll require a password to access, but someone could possibly hack the machine if they felt so inclined. OOC: Anyone attempting to hack the computer give me an Edu Tech roll: DC 10. Also could I get either a perception or survival roll from everyone. The broken pokeball is 25 worth of scrap

"So, what's in there, Cec-" Christine stops, as she peers in, and her own question is answered. "Oh. That's..." She struggles for words, before settling on the underwhelming, "Not good." She's seen dead people before, but not like this. "What do you think caused this?" Christine softly asks, while changing the Pokéball she's reaching for. Releasing Clement, the bell seeming to sense the mood and staying quiet. "If no one wants to touch anything, then Clement should be able to at the very least... move things, if you ask. I'm just going to look and see if I can figure out what might have killed them."Perception: 9

Bunnie immediately turns her suspicion to eleven the moment the skeletons are found. "Doug, stay with me. Don't let anything unknown get anywhere near us." Doug, for his part, seems intent on following orders. It made Bunnie feel a bit better knowing her relationship with the Pokemon was getting better over the last week. She'd have to find a way to reward the little fella. Knowing he was determined to keep them safe, she felt more comfortable looking elsewhere for anything she may have missed when they had first come in here. Perception: 18

Kat slinks by, moving towards the second man's skeleton and crouching by it momentarily before turning her eyes to the cabinet. "Buddy wanted somethin' in here before he kicked it," she says under her breath. "Might as well see what his last grand gesture was all about." After giving another glance around--just in case--she heads to the cabinet itself and tries to get it open. 22 Survival

Amber stares around silently, shaking her head. "Keep watch," She mutters to Sapphire, who perks up his head. She approaches the computer hesitantly and cracks her knuckles. "What are you hiding..."
