The next area has something wholly unexpected. It looks like.. a portal? It's hard to see, as even the light from your torches seems to be sucked in towards it. Just on this side of the portal, there are somewhat large, very strange creatures milling about, digging at the stone with nasty-looking claws.

Maya is equally flabbergasted. Even Sorra has no real answer for this.

"Best I can tell, it's some sort of mystical portal to another world. Probably inhabited by things similar to Dark-Type Pokemon. That's just a guess though, as magic isn't my specialty. We probably want to avoid engaging those...things. They seem to just be collecting gemstones from the rocks and not straying far from the portal. I will definitely make a note of this and send a messenger pidgey back just as soon as we reach topside again."

Rei takes a little bit of notes from her safe distance for the doctor before turning with the others in the other direction. She turns back, still wondering, but shakes it off. She's curious, but not curious enough to really question Sorra.

The next area has what look like a bunch of large, square boulders scattered about. Remembering the sneaky mushroom pokemon from before Rei believes these to be Pokemon as well.

Rei does indeed remember the last battle, and takes out Shinpuru.

"Shinpuru, do your dance of blades. If these rocks are pokemon, we will find out soon enough."

Shinpuru, eager to faint some more pokemon, does just that, dancing and increasing his attack!

One of the rocks begins to move, and it turns out to be a Pokemon after all. It's a Crustle! It spots the party arranged before it and clacks loudly in warning. The others begin to move as well, getting set up for battle.

Rei full switches Shinpuru out (much to his chagrin, he wanted to murderate the bugs more!) and puts in Magnes, who can at least resist their attacks better than the doom beaver. Maya quickly swaps out for Shelgon as well. Vibrava can't take anymore hits. Shelgon can at least last a little longer than that. These bugs even took one of her power shots and kept going, so they're no pushovers. She fires again as Shelgon readies himself.

Rei had switched out for Magnes but that didn't stop the attacks from coming. Even Maya had to switch, and all five targets were up at this point. Things were not looking great. Magnes launches a blast of energy out toward one of the weaker ones while Rei furthers her defense.
