Rei takes a moment to breathe as he finally falls. She surveys the battlefield, and sees all her unconscious pokemon. She recalls them all, and steps over to recover Raido. She snaps her head back to the man, and glares. She makes a mental note of that strange mask. She fishes through his pockets, and finds some crowns. She'll need healing, so she pockets them. It's the least he can do.
I wonder, if he was looking to take pokemon...
Rei's thoughts don't have much time to finish as she hears voices approaching. She can't chance that they'd be pleasant. She gets up, and winces, but manages to abscond to Cerulean.

While wandering around Cerulean, Rei gets this feeling of being watched. Looking around, she doesn't notice anything at first. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she spots a dark shape moving from perch to perch as it follows her. Quickly turning around, she spots a small black bird Pokemon. It eyes her curiously from afar.

It does fly over, but seems uninterested in the food. Instead, it spotted something shiny in her bag and dove for it. Popping up moments later, it has several coins in its beak. It flies off, presumably towards its nest.

The bird is leading you towards the forest. Seems like it lives in there, where it's darker.

It gets dark pretty quick inside the forest, but at least you can still see the edge of it. Oh wait, the bird is still going. In fact, it seems to be deliberately making sure you can keep up. Do you keep going, or turn around and lose the 3 crowns it took?

The bird eyes you again, then flutters from branch to branch. After a bit, it zooms off again, disappearing into the gloom.

Rei manages to spot it hidden among some foliage in the trees. Apparently it was leading you on a wild goose chase before heading home. It's pretty well hidden to begin with, and it's dark coloring makes it even harder to spot, but the shiny stuff in its nest gives it away to a trained eye.

The Pokemon seems rather surprised you found it, and quickly hunkers down over its shinys. Then it does something odd. It repeats what you said back to you in your own voice. Talk about creepy.

Why would I expect anything different?
Rei merely goes into her back and pulls out a couple more crowns, and some of her trail mix, puts it in her hand, and just lifts that to the nest, and leaves it.

A few minutes later, Rei gets that same feeling of being watched from before. Cautiously looking around still reveals nothing, but then she hears a voice.
"Three miles west. First marker. From there, 10 miles south. Second marker."
These words mean nothing to Rei, and she's fairly certain that it's the tricky bird again, but it's very good at hiding when it wants to be.

She thinks she sees something, but that turns out to just be a collection of leaves and branches that happen to look similar to the bird. She hears what sounds like mocking laughter coming from somewhere. Then she realizes it's not laughter, but cawing that sounds eerily similar to laughter. It did follow her, but apparently it's not done messing with her head yet. It sounds quite amused.
