Welcome to Olmia Academy!
Welcome one and all to the OOC thread for Olmia Academy! Please use both this thread and the Skype chat for all of your pressing questions that haven't been answered elsewhere! I'm sure I don't have to tell you all again, but here's the link for the Olmia and Zaphros wiki! This will be updated frequently, and I will post both here and in the Skype chat whenever a new page is added. If there's something you think should be on there, let me know either here or in the Skype chat! Please make a post in this thread with answers to the following questions: - As a player, do you prefer combat or roleplay? What kind of split would you prefer?
- What is your timezone?
- If your character could have their dream team, what would it be?
- What is your favorite Pokemon?
- What are you expecting to get out of this game?
- Describe your character in one word.
- Is your character interested in making/joining any clubs?
- What classes would your character be interested in taking in the Second Term? (school classes not trainer classes!)
Here are a few notes regarding the game: Please try to post at least once every two days. I'll be doing the same, but if you aren't able to post, let me know! I'm pretty flexible on this, as long as you communicate with me. If you can tell me when you're planning to post and what's kept you from posting. I'll be posting in the evenings EST, myself. Don't be afraid to post out of initiative order in battle and contests! You can even put in some conditional statements like, "If Jenny does X, I'll do Y." Use your better judgement on how many is too many, but I'm fine with a few. Remember, initiative order is just the order things happen, not the order in which you have to post! Please put any relevant rolls in a spoiler in your post. Don't forget to label them, because I will not accept rolls that are not labeled! For character development, I understand some people enjoy meta-gaming, but don't forget to put what your character would want in there as well. Make your characters both interesting to look at both background and class-wise!

Ooh, questions! I like questions!
1. I come from a pure roleplay background. I'm used to games that are 100% roleplay with no system whatsoever. That being said, with my limited experience with PTU, I /really/ like combat. I find it really fun and enjoyable. So, I sorta prefer... both? I suppose a safe split for me would be combat 30 or 20, roleplay 70 or 80, if only because combat tends to take longer in PbP than normal games. I'll honestly like anything, though!
2. Pacific! West coast best coast!
3. (Dream team) ... Defensive Stuff? Bastiodon would be on it. Durant is a cool Steel type absolutely forgotten about. Avalugg for that defensive goodness. Whatever special defensive pokemon are I don't pay attention. Ninetails might be one? I'm just reaching here. I'm bad at picking things.
4. (Personal faves) Erm... Absol? But Sceptile is cool, Blaziken too... I like Mamoswine a lot! Hippopotas, Torterra... You should have asked me what my least favorite pokemon are, the list would be much shorter. xD
5. I'm expecting collaborative story-telling at its finest. I would /love/ to have a lot of inter-character rp with little to no gm intervention, because sadly some PbP games I've seen are all just the players all doing an action and then waiting for the GM to do something, because their characters are such fluffy friends that there's no reason to talk to each other and no disagreements.
6. Hurting.
7. If the club interests her, yes. As to what clubs would interest her? Not particularly sure at this point. I'll know it when I see it.
8. Advanced Battle Tactics - How to deal with specific battlefields, type disadvantages, enemies with certain fighting styles, etc. Other than that... How to be a spy 101. I'll add in more when I think of them.

ALRIGHT LET'S DO THIS! As a player, do you prefer combat or roleplay? What kind of split would you prefer? My roleplay background is mostly roleplay but I do, however, want to delve into combat dice rolling rp to see how it's like. I suppose a split of 60/40 to Roleplay and Combat is what I would prefer
What is your timezone?
Pacific Standard Time.
If your character could have their dream team, what would it be?
Probably a lot of dancing and singing pokemon such as Kricketune, Wigglytuff and Lilligant. Any sleek styling Pokemon would be great to like Zebstrika.
What is your favorite Pokemon?
Laika's probably a Wigglytuff to be honest. My favorite pokemon, however, is Vaporeon.
What are you expecting to get out of this game?
An adventurous journey through the wonderful world of spies and school!
Describe your character in one word.
A balance.
Is your character interested in making/joining any clubs?
Join the Fashion Club, the Make-Up Club, the Grooming Club, the Arts Club. And the Battling Club probably too. And Band. Never forget about band.
What classes would your character be interested in taking in the Second Term? (school classes not trainer classes!)
Probably something along the line of Contests-centric classes with some Advanced Battling Strategies thrown in there as well. Maybe a Drama class to really give him more of a flair.

Q1: As a player, do you prefer combat or roleplay? What kind of split would you prefer? A1: I like both combat and roleplay, and normally prefer a good balance between the two, but for this give setting I think a bigger focus on roleplay would be preferred. A 60/40 or 70/30 split for roleplay would be nice, but that number can go up or down. I don’t really mind which way the split goes, but I would like their to be a bigger focus on the roleplay. Q2: What is your timezone? A2: PST (GMT -08:00). I tend to post in the evenings, as well. Q3: If your character could have their dream team, what would it be? A3: Kingdra Vaporeon Seaking Floatzel Lapras Prinplup I’m up for any team that consist of water types, though, so don’t take this as gospel or the team that I must have. This is mostly just my favorites, anyways. Q4: What is your favorite Pokemon? A4: Luxray (it’s a thunder lion with a badass hairdo and can see through walls with X-ray vision, what’s not to like?). Q5: What are you expecting to get out of this game? A5: Lots of laughs, lots of fun, lots of interesting character interactions and a sad moment here and their. Player interaction, too. Mostly coming along for the ride, though, so feel free to throw whatever you want my way. Also I’m kinda expecting Olmia Academy to be “animu tropes: the high school”. Doesn't mean I want it, but that’s what I’m expecting. Q6: Describe your character in one word. A6: Simple (there’s actually a lot of single words I would use to describe Gregory, but at the base of it “Simple” is simply the best one). Q7: Is your character interested in making/joining any clubs? A7: Probably not going to join a club, because doing so would cut into fishing time and require a bit of “effort” from Gregory, and giving “effort” to something that isn’t fishing is not what he’s about. He might make a fishing club, though, and who knows, maybe he will end up joining a club for whatever reason. Q8: What classes would your character be interested in taking in the Second Term? (school classes not trainer classes!) A8: Fishing 101, and nothing else. But in all seriousness, he’d probably take a survival class (because he does like being with nature), a battle tactic class (because fighting is fun), a physical education classes (because he’s good at that), a Pokemon catching class (because he needs to know how to catch whatever he fishes up), and maybe a Pokemon caretaking class (because he wants to take care of his pokemon better). Other stuff would be cool, too. Also, table of all the characters because I got bored go!: Player Name | Character | Classes | Pokemon (On hand) | FelixSparks
| Alex Andra Ite
| Researcher/Mentor
| Kabuto/Geodude
| NATEINCAPS | Gregory Pegle | Capture Specialist/Water Ace | Horsea | Harbringer of Insanity | Zodor "Zo" Mayka
| Hex Maniac/Provocateur | Murkrow/Spoink | ThRevanchist | Trista Umbra
| Shade Caller/Tumbler | Porygon/Castform/Grimer | haybalebarn | Vess Li
| Enduring Soul/Steel Ace | Ferroseed/Meditite/Mankey
| Major | Lyn Rouge
| Coordinator/Fashionista/Provocateur | Vulpix |
Feel free to steal this from me for whatever reason.

As a player, do you prefer combat or roleplay? What kind of split would you prefer? -I must prefer roleplay. Like Haybale I came from a lot of freeform no stat systems, though I've played every tabletop as well. I enjoy dice for the sake of anything go, but I did pick the school cause I lose the roleplay potential. As for a split percentage that's harder. I like both. Uhhh Probably same as Haybale with the 20/30 combat, 70/80 roleplay. What is your timezone? -EST If your character could have their dream team, what would it be? -That...is a tough one. Lyn will be accepting of most pokemon (within reason). She doesn't care for "ugly" pokemon. Sorry Trubbish, you count for her. What is your favorite Pokemon? -Mine personally? Probably Scizor. Joltik also rocks. Gallade is a bro. Lyn's? Tough choice. What are you expecting to get out of this game? -I watched too many school anime's recently. Asterisk War, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, etc. I'm looking forward to a school setting with interaction with players. I enjoyed how this one also had an overarching guiding goal though since no plot could have risked game waddling out. Describe your character in one word. -Lyn: Beautiful? -(Ok, Ok, I'LL describe her. Hmmmm got a few just thinking which one is best. Quick! I default to Tsundere! Baka! ) Is your character interested in making/joining any clubs? -Early on...it seems unlikely. She would most definitely be interested in a few, but her sense of superiority might cause her to avoid being around lessers until she opens up some. Drama looks nice though. What classes would your character be interested in taking in the Second Term? (school classes not trainer classes!) Mastering the TsundereSmash, a guide to beating up BakasWell, contest classes are always nice. Especially "high style" stuff. High fashion, etc. Not silly commoner stuff. If only there was a class so that those commoners could learn that its simply FACT that we Imperians are better them. Like biology! Stuff about charm and intuition? XD

I like both, really. A 60/40 split between RP and combat, I suppose I live in Central Europe Time (GMT+1) ... as the only one, it seems. Joy Dream team would be something like: Murkrow, Zoroark, Klefki, Gengar, Beheeyem and Galvantula My own favorite? A tie between Lucario and Gardevoir, with Absol a close second Amusement and writing satisfaction, mostly. I play this character as trickster. I like tricksters . Some PC conflict will be cool as well. A conman, no question He'll be interested in the Drama Club. The Study Buddy one as well probably. Might set up a gambling ring as well. Something on Status Moves and Combat Manouvres, like How To Be A Git In Battles 101. Maybe something on the Occult, if there's anything... Should probably take a tech class as well, to keep the charade up.

Ooh, questions! What a fun way to start. :)
1) As a player, do you prefer combat or roleplay? What kind of split would you prefer? Combat is always fun, but there's definitely some fun to be had in roleplay, too. Not to mention less roll-intensive. With my luck, that's probably a good thing... I don't have a "preferred split", really. So... 50-50, with whatever deviation the GM sees fit to apply?
2) What is your timezone? GMT-5
3) If your character could have their dream team, what would it be? Kind of Dark-type centric, but Porygon, Spiritomb, Crobat, Scrafty, Absol (maybe) and... a Greninja or something? Maybe... The first five are pretty nice, though.
4) What is your favorite Pokemon? Mine, or Trista's? I love Hydreigon, personally. And also any snake-shaped Pokemon... and others, but you asked for one... As for Trista... probably something aesthetically cute, like a Mawile.
5) What are you expecting to get out of this game? I expect it to be fun. I mean, if it can combine all the best parts of a schools-game, a spy-game, and a gym-crawl, that would be incredible! And if it can't, it will still be pretty interesting. So that's good.
6) Describe your character in one word. One word, eh? Hopefully this preamble doesn't count, or I've failed twelve times over. Fifteen, now... Anyways, that word would be... "standoffish". Although within one minute of retrospect, "withdrawn" fits a lot better...
7) Is your character interested in making/joining any clubs? Yes, because a normal student would be expected to. So it's required to maintain proper cover... or something. Definitely not to find people who share similar interests, or any of that "camaraderie" stuff!
8) What classes would your character be interested in taking in the Second Term? (school classes not trainer classes!) Mmm... Athletic classes would be useful, and so would Pokemon-training classes. Of course, more academic classes are probably expected, too... But which ones...

1. As a player, do you prefer combat or roleplay? What kind of split would you prefer? Normally I lean Combat, but with Alex I'm leaning Roleplay. Probably a 40/60 split between Combat and Roleplay for me! I like challenges.
2.What is your timezone? EST Cap'n!
3. If your character could have their dream team, what would it be? Hm, this is tricky. I know he'd like a Tyrunt.. A Tyranitar or an Aggron would also round him out nicely, to be the brawn. Maybe a Psychic Type to help him with his research or assist with precision digging. I'll think more on this, he's just still so hype over his Kabuto.
4. What is your favorite Pokemon? Personally? Blastoise. Bros for life.
5. What are you expecting to get out of this game? Something out of the ordinary. Not a Gym Badge Run or a "Oh hey let's go hit things with magic", but an interesting, potentially dark campaign with intrigue and mysteries!
6. Describe your character in one word. Uh.... Rocks? In seriousness, I think the one word I would use to describe Alex is... "Dreamer." He wants to follow in his father's footsteps and discover more ancient pokemon.
7. Is your character interested in making/joining any clubs? HELL YEAH ARCHAEOLOGY. Might join another club in the meantime. He'd probably be a fan of the Caretaker Club, The Book Club, or the Study Buddy club.
8. What classes would your character be interested in taking in the Second Term? (school classes not trainer classes!) Probably some advanced Pokemon Training or Caretaking classes, some Geology classes... Maybe an elective like running?

Because I know some people were thinking about going to catch Pokemon, I should let you all know how you can look for Pokemon. When you go to look for Pokemon, you'll roll a d100 to determine what you find. Here's the breakdown of the rolls, for your convenience!
Tl:Dr is, roll real high or roll real low.

Hey guys, I'm so sorry I haven't posted and have been doff skype for the past few days. I went to this fancy marine recherche center for a field trip and it turns out that a facility out in the middle of nowhere that you can only get to via a 2 hour logging rode doesn't have the greatest, or even working, wifi, despite what I was told. I managed to get a hold of a computer here but I'm super busy so until Thursday (or maybe Wednesday night depending on how good our hotel's wifi is) I won't be a able to post. Sorry for diapering on you all like this without saying anything and sorry for holding up the game and what not, and I guess I'll see you all latter this week.
