Bug nodded, not quite understanding the phrase but not wanting the professor to have room for another verbal jab. Once released, he quickly let Root out of her ball and began running into the forest. "Bug will go to center of forest and find Root!" If he could find the Root, King, or Guardian of this forest, he might be able to find some answers, or better yet some training!

With an nod of acknowledgement introduction, Ruta followed after the group toward the Viridian forest, observing the people as they pass through the city. At the entrance of the forest, Ruta look upon the large trees and felt a ting of something he was all together unfamiliar with. There was no trees within the halls of Ozhova nor things of nature of any kind. There was only motifs of gold and scales and that of the Culling Sun. Overall Ruta felt completly out of his element but for some reason was not all together uncomfortable at the sight of the forest. Ruta gaze turn to a particular twig at the thought when he turn to give an owl-like stare at Arata's announcement.
With a bland expression toward the warrior's inquisitive look, Ruta lift the edge of his cloak to reveal a medium size mace of black metal and gelded gold, the head of which fashioned into the same image as the sun sigil tattooed on Ruta forehead with the spikes incorporated as the sun's ray.
"We're ready when needed." Ruta answered on behalf of Faultless and himself as Bug ran off into the forest alone. The lawmage watch the other teen enter the forest with his face devoid of emotions before taking a deliberate step after the reckless fool. "Let's be on our way..." He murmured just load enough for the others to hear and step into the forest.
As soon as the pair fell beneath the shadows of the forest's canopy, Faultless slid down from Ruta's shoulders and chose to sleek alongside his masters within the darker shadows of the forest's under-bush.
Seeing Bug run off ahead and Ruta's advance prompts Arata as well, and he and Shiki-kan set off brazenly into the forest. Unlike the lawmage, he had no reaswon for stealth, he would face his foes head-on.
Ori'cos puts his crook out before him and into hand like a walking stick. The great gourd hanging off the hook of the crook awakening and put it's eyes foward as he follows the group from within the shadows of the trees.
Cho looks around in amazement at the forest. She hadn't seen this many trees in one place since, well, ever (unless the previous trials for the Consortium included some kind of forest). It reminded her a little of Selesnya territory back home, though the wildness of it all also prompted her to nervously check for Gruul raiders at every turn.
Seeing the others all readying their combat tools, she released her gelectrode from its shiny new pokeball (catching a willing target was no trouble at all, but she doubted their current test would go quite so well), and held out the bracer on her right arm to it. "Okay, Gelectrode, add some of your charge to this. Okay, now open the mana channels, mix in a bit of water magic, and done!" For a moment the bracer crackled with barely-restrained lightning, which then flowed into the vials on the side and disappeared.
Stepping into the forest, you all take notice of your surroundings. The sounds of the forest are much as you would expect, and not far from the entrance you can all spot a child attempting to catch a flying insect with a net.
Ori, Root, Oshawatt, and Gelectrode don't see much of anything else.
Arata, Cho and Faultless spot a pair of purple, rabbit-like creatures chasing around a blue creature that looks to be of the same species. Ruta and Pumpkaboo watch as a small yellow rodent is spotted being forced out of a tree by a bird of some sort, and Bug watches as two different types of caterpillar species begin to fight over bush in what is likely a territorial dispute. None of the creatures seem to be paying too much mind to any of the newcomers to the forest.

"Faultless, we're going after this one." Ruta ordered after spotting a yellow rodent-like creature and approach the tree it fell, stopping just of sight of the Pokémon. Faultless look up thoughtfully after his master, having not only found one but three rabbit-like creature to pounce on until he noticed the much more 'fun' mouse designated by Ruta. With a control swip of his tail Faultless follow after Ruta, continuing on to try and sneak up behind the Pokémon.
Arata's eyes settle on the rabbits. They should make for a simple capture. "Shiki-kan, we shall strike those." he says, indicating his imminent target. Suddenly he is standing over the purple one, his hilt slammed downward to where its head was.
Bug looks at the caterpillars, stepping into the bush and shaking his head. "Caterpillars are family! Family should not be fighting! Bug will help settle this. In Living Forest, Guardian of Tree is settled by one who makes nest first. Since there are no Living Trees here, the two insects should look to Root." He points at his Turtwig, nodding. "Whichever uses Strings on Root first to make a small web will be winner and come with Root. Agreed?" He looks to them, speaking in a firm voice, letting them know that if they chose NOT to do this, he'd join in on the fighting. He wanted them to see that this was the best option they had, to resolve things peacefully. "Of course, both can come with..."
The two caterpillers, one with a small spike on its head and the other with large black eyes, stop fighting one another as Bug begins to speak. They shy away at first, but something about the way he carries himself spoke to them. While neither makes an attempt to String Shot the Turtwig, neither are trying to run away either.
(Give me another Command check, DC 15)
The bird and the mouse seem to be more interested in eating and not being eaten, respectively, and neither notice Faultless or Ruta.
Arata almost seems to teleport with how quickly he moves to the rabbit. One quick swipe and he devastates the Pokemon, gathering the attentions of the other two rabbits, who immediately make an attempt to defend their friend. The blue rabbit turns its back on Arata, shaking its tail at him.

The rabbit that had been struck stares down Arata, seemingly preparing something, while the other purple rabbit jumps at him, trying to drive its horn into the attacker.
Bug nods, happy they're listening to him. This would be much easier now that he had their attention. "Well.... Two ways to do this challenge, in reality. If two wish to become Guardians of Root, you must prove yourselves worthy! Then you will always have home, and home will defend you too!" He crouches down to get on their level, nodding affirmatively. "Bug thinks the two of you will be very strong one day if you try. Too big for this little forest. Will two come with Bug and train to become best there is? If so..." He stands and points at Root, who's still kind of unsure of what's happening around her as she munches on a nearby leaf. "Then make web on Root, and join Bug!"
Ori's eyes fuzz out before him. signs of my age be catching up ta me before a tug from his crook pointed his attention at the samurai getting triple teamed by the rabbit looking things. "Jamura.. be helpen da swordman. We be needen ta work ta geda on dis." Ori'cos told his pumpkaboo as she phased behind the unsmacked one and proceeds to spook it.
Shiki-kan runs up beside Arata and blasts the spooked rabbit with a shot of water! Arata himself has slowed down again after that crack, and is holding the stare of the rabbit as his hand reaches for his pouch...

After a minute glance to the Pokémons and then the boy a little ways away, Ruta unfasten the clasp of his cloak and murmured under his breath as the white cloth fell to the ground, "By grace of the Obzedat, the rays of the Culing Sun shines through me..." The tattoo on the lawmage's forehead began to shine and a pair of stain glass wings appears behind him. The wings were diminutive compare to those others with the Gift of Orzhova but they still had that unique holy glow.
Unburdened of his cloak, Ruta seems smaller yet more professional in his suit-like attire. Fixing the hem of his black gloves the lawmakers gave the Pokémons that had surely noticed his transformation a smoldering look. "Now then, I have a contract to fulfill and I may as well earn a little pocket money."
Just before Ruta's 'disarming voice' an even more shadowy form of Faultless launch out from the grass and struck the bird Pokémon with a surprise attack.
Cho takes a moment to survey the field, past the fighters who were perhaps a little too gung-ho. Her eyes alight on the yellow rodent that seemed to have been forgotten in the melee. That one would do. Okay, step one: weaken the target.
Pointing, she commands her subservient Weird. "Okay, Gelectrode, ping that yellow thing to get its attention. Lets see how this whole capturing business works." On command, the gelectrode fires of a crackling wave of electricity that homes in on the little creature.
Arata seizes his moment, having caught the rabbit off guard, to try out one of these Pokéballs. Hoping the creature is dazed, he tries to tap the ball off it's head without actually throwing it. 0eavhtO0d20+1 vs AC 6, Spending AP d20 Capture rolld20+1·d20
Fautless casts a shadow over the bird, causing it to grab hold of the tree as it finally notices the new set of potential predators in the area. Before the mouse can make a run for it though, Gelectrode manages to give it a quick zap. The mouse seems to take the hit well and turns on its new attacker. Being trapped between a rock and a hard place, it fights back against Gelectrode with an electric attack of its own.

The blue rabbit curls itself into a ball, seemingly hiding from the rest of the fight. Ruta, meanwhile, uses her Disarming Voice on the bird which seems to rock it significantly. The bird, favoring its safety, dives downward and digs its claws into the ground, grabbing for a bit of dirt and throwing it into the eyes of Faultless.
Shiki summons forth a blast of water and blasts one of the purple rabbits, just as they ready themselves for an attack of their own. The rabbit that had been hit by Arata himself jumps forward and attempts to kick him directly.
Arata throws a Pokeball in an attempt to capture one of the rabbits, but his throw misses the target. Meanwhile, Jamura appears behind Rabbit 2 and Astonishes it. Catching it off guard so badly seems to have rocked it significantly, making its survival seem a lofty prospect.1d20·2d6+16·1d20·1d20·1d20·1d6+20·2d6+23·1d20·1d8+16
The two bugs look at one another again. The one with the large eyes fires its String Shot first, but only by a split second. The horned one, not to be outdone, spits its String Shot out, but tugs just that little bit harder. As they zip to Root, the horned one manages to get a sneak attack in and drives its spike into the one with large eyes, throwing it off just enough that the horned one is able to land on Root first.
Bug winces, seeing the needle driven into the soft green caterpillar bringing sympathy pains as he darted forward, wrapping the smaller creature in his arms as he skidded next to Root and the triumphant needled bug. He grinned, opening his arms to let the green insect out, nodding. "The contest is decided! The Needle shall be the Guardian of Root, with strength and speed may it reign. And the other..." He looked to the bug in his arms, his smile softening. "If you wish, you shall be the Guardian of Bug, The Needle, and all new comers. A wide shield made by your wings, which shall protect those around you from harm. Does that sound agreeable?" He reached into his bag at his waist and pulled out two of the orbs he'd been given, offering one to each insect. "Tapping the button means assent, and the two shall travel with Bug and Root until our forest is regrown."

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
