"I talk weird? What do you mean?" He's honestly curious - he doesn't think he has an unusual accent. Frankly, Jack doesn't think he has an accent at all, but no one does.
"Girl? Did you see someone else?" Jack taps his lip thoughtfully. "Perhaps we should try to find her? It does get awfully lonely with no one but Pokémon to talk to; she might appreciate the company!"

"I dunno," The girl says after a moment. "Just a lot of phrases I don't usually hear, I guess?" She rubs her arm and shrugs.
She nods at his next question. "I did. It was the first day. There was this girl, maybe a little younger than I am..." She trails off. "I assumed she was a tourist on her way to the Mystery Shack. She was in all black, a really old fashioned sort of goth look, like what Ravi would go for." She shrugs. "I don't know where she went--we didn't talk. But it was somewhere near where I started, when I was looking for my dad and brothers. We can look for her, maybe?"

Jack really is confused now, but maybe it's better to leave it there when Wendy's just had a nasty shock. At least Jack mostly got the chance to get over being pulled away from home when he woke up - not being in Halloween Town is very obvious.
"That might be a good idea. All in black... hm, do you suppose she could be a witch?" Jack has a soft spot for goths but doesn't entirely grasp the concept. He chuckles a little. "It seems like everyone besides me was up and about on the first day! It makes me feel like a bit of a lazybones." Even if he was, you know, in incapacitating pain at the time.

Wendy glances around as they chat. "I think I woke up somewhere this way," She says, and starts heading through the trees. "Might as well keep moving."
She glances back at him at his question. "A witch? Like a Wiccan or whatever? I dunno, she might have been. But honestly, we've had a lot of those sorts visit the shack, and I've usually found that most of the ones who do the full goth thing aren't as serious about it." She laughs. "It's always the nice girl in the pretty pink sweater..."
She shakes her head at Jack's next comment. "Nah. Day I woke up, I felt like I'd fallen out of a tree. I mostly just hung out in the clearing, drinking water and trying to make my head stop swimming. 'Course, I also thought my dad would be back at some point."

Jack nods. "I know what you mean - you can't judge by appearances! Some of the scariest people I know are also some of the nicest when they're not scaring." Then again, Jack still trusts a certain trio of trick-or-treaters, so perhaps he's not the best judge around. "This Mystery Shack of yours sounds exciting. What is it?"
He runs a hand over his hair, grinning ruefully. "Aha, so it wasn't just me. What do you suppose caused it? I'm afraid I don't know a whole lot about things like that."

"The Mystery Shack is..." She laughs. "Hard to describe. I work there over the summer, since Stan hired me. He keeps...mysteries there, and I run the gift shop. Stuff like...a unicorn made of all corn!" She shrugs. "It's a good job, though. Better than working at the lumberjack camp.."
She glances over at next question. "I...I honestly don't know." She finally says, rubbing her arm. "There's a lot of weird stuff at Gravity Falls, so...I don't know. Could have been any number of the things Dipper is always talking about. But.." She frowns. "You weren't anywhere near there, right? You were in, uh...Halloween Town?"
She pauses and laughs. "But then again....That sounds weird enough that maybe whatever got me was looking for places as weird as Gravity Falls and got you too!"

"Oh, I see, one of those places!" Jack nods. Places like that have a distinct tendency to throw excellent Halloween parties, though it's not like he visits every single party every year. In any case, they certainly contribute to the spirit of Halloween wonderfully - he's pretty sure a couple of the monsters who live in the lake draw inspiration from places like that.
"I remember there was a whole house in California - though I suppose there it was the house itself that was the mystery. There were stairs leading up to walls, dead ends, things like that. It was built that way to confuse ghosts, I believe, but I don't know if it worked. I suppose I could ask some. I think I'd like to see this Mystery Shack, though. Maybe I can visit once we get you home." Getting back to Halloween Town isn't quite so much of a priority, since he's less certain now that she's right about the date.
He gives her theory a bit of thought. Weird places? Well, he supposes Halloween Town might be weird from a human perspective. "It's an interesting idea. Though Halloween Town is hard to get to, unless you know how. There's a trick to it."

"Yeah? You're welcome to. If you have cash, Stan will welcome you with open arms," Wendy laughs. She glances back at him. "Might try to turn you into one of the exhibits--only need some paint and you could pass as a good like...living skeleton or something."
She snorts, walking ahead of him. "A trick to it? Like, what, knowing about a back road or something?"
After a bit of walking, Wendy will pause, looking around in a much smaller clearing--barely a clearing at all so much as a slightly bigger space between the trees. There's juuust enough room that Jack could maybe lay down if he was willing to curl around a thick root. "I think it was about here," She says, turning back to him. "What am I looking for?"

"Well, I should hope so; I am one! Or, well, I was, at least. I seem to be human now, though." Jack examines a pale, thin hand that still just isn't quite as much of either as he's used to. He... may or may not actually realize that Wendy didn't get the hint before that he didn't start out human. "And getting to Halloween Town is... hard to explain. I'm not sure humans can do it, actually. Mostly we go through small, dark spaces - underneath beds, closets, that sort of thing."Assuming that bombshell doesn't stop things in their tracks for a while, he surveys Wendy's clearing, or what passes for it, with a thoughtful frown. "It would be a little patch of dirt that had been dug up recently. It isn't hard to spot. I think mine only appeared last night. Of course, where I woke up is a bit more open than this..."Perception to find dug-up dirt: GDwI|iMV3d6 3d6

Wendy pauses, turning to face Jack. A spark of realization is visible in her eyes and she opens them to speak--and pauses, closing her lips and staring at him. After a moment she looks over, stares at Zero for a few moments, and then shrugs.
"..okay. /Might/ be the weirdest thing..." She mutters, turning to look around. She pours over the ground, walking around in the trees with her gaze on the dirt. Jack, much taller and with a better view, though, is the one who notices the shiny black box with its strange engravings in the hollow of a tree, rather than buried in the dirt.

Jack just looks back at Wendy quizzically when she stares at him. He's not actually sure what he was expecting her reaction to be, and isn't sure whether to be disappointed or relieved; as much pride as he takes in instilling fear, he doesn't want to scare off the only friendly face he's met in this place that wasn't on a Pokémon. Then again, when Zero scared her she wound up laughing it off, so maybe this should be expected.
He should probably be grateful she didn't outright decide he's crazy, but that doesn't occur to him. Nobody's ever thought he was crazy before; the worst he's ever gotten is Sally being a little overly concerned.
Jack prowls among the trees around Wendy's clearing, searching intently. He smiles brightly when he catches the glint of the shiny box in the hollow tree. "Aha, here we go!" He reaches in to retrieve the box and presents it to Wendy. "I'm sorry, it seems like I misled you a little. I guess none of the trees where I woke up had a convenient hiding place like this."

The box is ice cold in Jack's hands, almost painfully cold, but Wendy doesn't flinch as she accepts it from him. "Huh. You weren't kidding. This thing is kind of weird..." She turns it over in her hands and pauses at the sight of the palm print. She jerks her head up, squints at Jack, and then looks around.
"Really?" She mutters. "Is this ANOTHER one of those weird journal things?"
She squints back down. "I don't know where we are, but I'm sure it's somewhere close to Gravity Falls after all..." She trails off. "My friend, Dipper, has a journal he found in the woods nearby. It has a symbol like this on it.."

Jack blinks in surprise. "Journal? I'd be surprised if it was. It's sort of a... I think the phrase you use is 'care package'. The handprint is where you open the box - you just press your fingers against it." He wiggles his own fingers to illustrate.
He pauses as a thought occurs to him, and whistles Zero over, resting his hand on the Misdreavus's head to try and restrain him a little. "Oh! If it has the same things mine did, there should be a jar of some orange stuff. Pokémon seem to be very interested in it, so be careful opening it, unless you'd like your friend to start climbing up your leg." He grins ruefully - Jack can learn from experience, as naive as he sometimes is.

"Yeah? Huh.." Wendy nods as he finishes, and slaps her hand to the box with a shrug. She makes the mistake of doing so as she's holding it--and the goods inside tumble to the ground as the box dissolves. There's a crack as the jar of paste hits the ground. The bear /does/ seem intensely interested in it as it lands, and immediately tumbles over towards it, sniffing at the cracked jar. Wendy yelps, trying to set everything down. The other jar landed on the scrolls and seems relatively unharmed, and she goes through the stuff, slowly shoving it into her pockets as the bear works on nibbling on the jar. She starts to stop it, before just shrugging and letting it go. The bear viciously snarls at anyone who attempts to take it away or come too close anyway.
Wendy straightens up. "Where did all this stuff /come from/?" She asks with wide eyes, turning her back on the bear. It starts to snarl a few moments later--and the reason becomes obvious as, from the surrounding tree line, shapes emerge, sniffing the air. They're tall and white, bipedal and covered in fur, with red slashes of fur over their hands, chest, and one ear each. There are three of them in total, and the one in the front of the pack is slightly larger than the others. The trio growl threateningly back at the bear, not even hesitating as they approach.

Jack winces slightly when everything falls to the ground. "Oh, dear. I forgot about that." He chuckles ruefully. "I'm sorry. I should have warned you that the box disappeared like that. Honestly, I don't know where they come from - mine was buried not far from where I was, and I didn't hear anything at all during the night. Perhaps it means there's someone..."He trails off in mid-sentence when the bear growls, looking past Wendy to see what the trouble is. "It looks like we have visitors." Jack's not entirely naive - close, but not entirely - but he'd like to try and avoid a fight if he can. He's not the biggest fan of violence most of the time. If he can talk them out of causing trouble, or failing that, frighten them off, it would make life a lot easier. He steps around Wendy and bows deeply toward the tough-looking intruders. He's... relatively certain that these are Pokémon, but on the other hand, Zero's always understood him perfectly well even if he can't talk back. Maybe all Pokémon can? "Hello, there! Is there something I can do for you fellows?" He smiles brightly, hoping he can look friendly enough to calm them down... but failing that, Zero is floating behind him, glowering over his shoulder menacingly and looking just as tough as a bejeweled floating head can look. Wendy takes a step back, hesitant. "What...are those?" She mutters, gaping. The small bear with her hasn't moved, and it snarls again in threat as the others respond. One of the ones in the back hesitates slightly at Zero's attempt to be scary--but when neither of the other two seem so much as to blink at it, the one in the lead snarling back at Zero and the bear, it moves with its team. The leader narrows his eyes at Jack, flicks his gaze to the rest, before jerking its head at the orange ooze splattered and leaking out of the cracked jar. It licks its teeth visibly.

"I think if you want that you'll need to take it up with him." Jack gives them a wry smile, but... they're looking awfully aggressive. Not really like sharing types. Not to mention that there are three of them, one of the little bear, and those are some impressive claws they have.
"I'm not sure what they are. Some sort of Pokémon, I'd think. Like Zero and Malkin and your little friend there." Jack grips the long, crooked branch he's been using for a walking stick on the morning's hike. Jack doesn't much like resorting to violence, but he's losing confidence in the idea of just talking these things down. "I think they're after the food. I'm sorry, friends," he continues, raising his voice to address the newcomers again. "I'm afraid we don't have much to spare."

Wendy frowns as the shapes draw closer, dumping the deep on the ground. This seems to also grant her some attention-- the middle bear glances at her consideringly, gaze flickering between the deer and the sharp weapon in her hands. "Hey!" She snaps, hefting her axe. "Back off!"
But the furry creatures just growl again, sliding closer.
"I don't think they're going to just go away," Wendy says quietly.

"I suppose you're right." Jack sighs, looking around at the intruders. "It'd be nice to be friends, but I suppose there's just no reasoning with some people. Hmm..."He looks over at Zero, who's been floating off to one side. He was busy eyeing the bear's meal hungrily up until the white Pokémon showed up. "Zero, remember that trick you did earlier?"A rather wicked grin crosses Zero's face. He swoops through the air toward the pack of Pokémon, letting out an earsplitting screech. Jack focuses in on the leader and rushes at it suddenly, contorting his face into a grotesque scowl and waving his arms with a snarl. If they can't talk them down, maybe they can at least frighten them off... or scare them stiff. Zero's Initiative: 12 Jack's Initiative: 10
Zero's Shift: 5N, 1E Zero used Screech! AC 4: YYrvo8pE1d20 Burst 2, Friendly, Sonic. On hit, lower Defense -2 CS. I gave him an aura for it on the map, it should hit the blue and red Zangoose.
Jack's Shift: 3N Jack uses the Terrorize Manipulation on the blue Zangoose AC 2: 1d20 Intimidate: 4d6+1, opposed by target's Intimidate or Focus On success, the target loses all Temporary HP and can only use At-Will moves for one round. A success also triggers Jack's Menace feature - until its next turn, the target's Initiative drops to 0, and for a full round, attacks cause the target to Flinch on 17+ (or +4 more than they normally would). 1d20·1d20·4d6+1

Red snarls angrily as it approaches, centering itself. It flinches back, as does Blue, at Zero's lunge. Blue reacts immediately, one great set of claws flying towards Zero's face and connecting harshy, the claws gleaming silver in the dimming light. Green licks its lips as it stares at Zero consideringly. Jack's attempt at frightening Blue seems to work, and it steps back a little, sniffing and glaring. Wendy, meanwhile, seems worried as Green stares down Zero. She doesn't raise her axe, but she uses her other hand to shove it back. "Stop it!" The Teddiursa doesn't move, growling and protecting its bounty. Initative List! Zangoose (Red) - 13 Zero - 12 Zangoose (Blue) - 11 Zangoose (Green) - 11 Jack - 10 Wendy - 10 Teddiursa - 4
Red uses Swords Dance! +2 Attack CS! Zero's attack hits! Blue and Red each lose -2 Defense CS. Zangoose (Blue) uses Metal Claw on Zero! zAhuftRP1d20 vs AC 3. On a hit: 1d8+27 Steel, Physical. Zangoose (Green) uses Leer! 1d20 vs AC 2. Will hit Zero on a success, but Jack has not yet moved at this point. -1 Def CS on a success. Jack hits! Opposed Focus: 3d6+1 (If the check is failed, the initiative will be altered with the next round) Wendy uses Chip Away against Green! 1d20 vs AC 2. On a hit: 2d6+20 Normal, Physical Damage Teddiursa does nothing.
