"I mean, I /could/," Sora says with a shrug. "But I don't seem to be able to reach the...the source, I dunno, where the power used to come from." Sora flails his hands, seemingly forgetting that he's holding the keyblade--and it smacks into his cheek instead of vanishing the way he's used to and the boy stumbles, grumbling and rubbing his face.
"I...okay? I, uh, sorry if it's a problem. I can just try not to use spells. Maybe I can figure out the aero spell instead, that would probably help fuel the fire anyway?"
He seems to be muttering more to himself. He throws himself down next to the fire and feeds it, keeping the flame going. Cooking the meat isn't a problem with all the extra sticks, though Sora makes a face at the raw meat as they're prepping it, and seems a bit grossed out. He nibbles on one of the fruits as they cook.

Sokka waves a hand, but still keeps Sora in his peripherals. This place was just getting weirder and weirder. If I don't loosen up a bit soon, I'm gonna go nuts, he realized. He cooks most of the meat and vegetables he'd gathered, and wolfs down a bit of it at the same time. After finishing the pit and camp, their pooled resources were still quite impressive-- if they established a base here, perhaps they could start working on more important tools in the morning. "Want to take turns keeping watch?" Sokka asks as he finishes up eating. "I still don't feel right about this place, but as nobody's jumped us yet..." He rolls the stick he'd cooked the last bit of meat on between his fingers. "And sorry about earlier. The Fire Nation's been chasing us for months now. I just hope they didn't find Katara. Or Aang, but he can take care of himself. Usually."1200 Build Scrap -700 (pit & shelter) +900 (what Sora found) = 1400 Build Scrap 1700 Food Scrap, Cooked 1500 = 1800 Cooked Scrap and 200 Food Scrap (not including the Blooberries)

Their dinner is a bit bland, but it's good after the long, confusing day. They split the watches with little effort, though Sora seems somewhat surprised at the idea. The feeling of something wrong, something watching them, never seems to really go away, and when the sun rises early in the morning, the slight haze of fog that curls amidst the grass does nothing to help with the feeling. Sora is a hard person to wake up, snoring loudly enough that it's a wonder Sokka got sleep at all, honestly. When he finally stumbles out of bed, it's to emerge from the tent doing a wiggling sort of dance and muttering about needing a bathroom, his weapon left sitting by his sleeping spot. You've finished your first day! Rollover! Please update your status chart for the current day, including hunger status, etc.
Achievement! You've survived your first day exploring in this strange place! +1 Milestone +50 PXP to split as desired.

Sokka nods tiredly and pokes around in his pack, snacking until his belly is satisfied and offering some to Sora as well. When the boy returns, Sokka takes a nearby stick and begins to draw a rough map of their little clearing in a patch of dirt.
"My expertise in fort-building tells me we need walls. Like, yesterday. This place still gives me the creeps, but if something really is out there I betcha we'll know of it soon... what do you think, second-in-command?"

Sora looks around and seems confused for a moment. "Fort building...?" He asks, tilting his head. "Is that what we're doing? I thought we were still exploring! What if Donald and Goofy are looking for me, or...or your friends looking for you? Will they know to find you here?"
He pauses, considering. "Or...maybe having a fort would mean they could find us easier...Huh." He finally shrugs. "I don't know if I'd be very good at building a fort, but if it's what you want to do, let's do it! What all do you need for it?"

Sokka shrugs, though Sora's words bite at a fear inside him he can't shake. "Smoke from fire can draw in all sorts. I'm sure if we set up for a few days, we'll get a group going... eventually." His words, for once, aren't entirely confident-- and as soon as he realizes this he slaps his legs and stands up, straightening his spine and looking confidently out around the clearing.
"Let's see. We got a water source, if a bit small. Surrounded by trees practically begging to be made into lumber. One can never have too much food, so that's always an option..." And there's that stupid questionable itch I can't scratch, he muses, but doesn't voice the thought. Any more self-doubt and Sora might not believe in his leadership either. "Why don't you gather some wood, and I'll try to figure out how to put it all to use?"

Sora seems to cheer up at Sokka's explanation. "You're right! This is definitely the best way to find everyone!" He says with a huge grin. He looks around. "Do you have the tools to cut down entire trees? That seems like a lot of work. If I had more of my magic I could probably blast them, maybe, but...even if you did like my fire and all, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to use it like that in a forest..."
He looks around, scratching his head. "I can probably use my keyblade to help me gather branches, though! I'll see what I can get you!" He bounds off into the surrounding trees, heading north and leaving Sokka peacefully alone in the very, very quiet and oddly dark clearing. He swears something shifts in the trees to the east--but there doesn't seem to be anything when he looks. It's so strange...but in any case, Sora is likely to be gone for a good long while.

Is this a settle-able area? There's no map for it so I'm not sure, and I want to have it confirmed/denied before I commit to a zillion building projects. After Sora heads off, Sokka releases Howl and glances around the clearing. As the canine doesn't immediately react, he takes a deep breath-- but shifts his hatchet and boomerang to more convenient positions just in case. "Just what I need," he grumbles aloud, absently making a list on his fingers. A kid who summons fire but hasn't heard of bending, a creepy forest that makes my Sokka-senses tingle, and now an overabundance of quiet..." he shifts uncomfortably, then shouts out at the top of his lungs: "Honestly, don't you know it's normal to have a bit of noise?" And with that he thunders towards the east, Howl at his heels. If whatever was giving him the creeps didn't come out of its own accord, it'd have to make peace with his presence because he was Sokka and he wasn't afraid of it at all! ...besides, a little more food-gathering never hurt anybody.

This is technically a buildable area. I'm accepting your first roll as your forage roll. Pokemon only roll for forage rolls if you also want to feed them and apply the same mechanic you apply for yourself, because it takes away from them finding their own food. If you want to make your second forage attempt, you may do so.
Assuming this is a filler until you have confirmation. x3
Sokka finds 540 worth of food scrap in this basic forest terrain. He also finds 100 food scrap worth of Potato Eyes! They can be consumed for additional food scrap, or planted to produce a harvestable food source in the future.
Sokka finds a small, marshy area not far away. The mud squelches under his feet, but the moisture serves him well! Around the rich, loomy mud, Sokka finds a patch of wild potatoes! They're small and a bit scraggly, but they're food! And...he's vaguely sure that you can replant them, somehow, while eating some of them...?

A marsh! Sokka makes a mental map of the direction he took, wondering if he'd be able to find materials to make a proper map later. There was something else marshes were good for, he knew... "Mud means tracks," he says gleefully to Howl. "Let's look for any recent tracks we can follow, I'm feeling the need for a hunt."
We'll save the second gather for later, I think. Survival to find tracks: 3Yzs3qi33d6+1Perception to find tracks: 2d6Howl Perception if tracks are found (via Tracker, spending AP): 2d6+23d6+1·2d6·2d6+2

Sokka's searching finds him a lot of signs of life. Several birds of some kind fly from trees as he approaches, or are scattered from thick grass patches in nearby clearings. The marshy ground gets bouncier under his feet, pools of stagnant water collecting in lower areas and swirling to become thick mud where the ground is too high.
The mud is useful, though, and preserves tracks pretty well. Sokka finds several sets in quick succession--elongated ovals bunched close to together, prints with three angular toes that are further apart, and tiny holes that it takes Sokka a few minutes to realize are tracks, as if made by tiny sticks. They lead in different directions. The poochyena seems puzzled at their presence and waits for directions from Sokka.

Sokka squints his eyes at the groups of prints, trying desperately to match them to fox antelopes, mongoose lizards, tiger monkeys-- even winged lemurs, as much as he isn't so sure about eating something that reminded him of Momo. Nevertheless, he can't identify any of the tracks, and decides to pursue the tracks with angular toes towards their source.
"Be ready, soldier," he mumbles to Howl as he begins to move forward alongside the tracks. "There's delicious meat at the end of this path."

Sokka follows the path for several long minutes--they grow in number as he walks, and he spies similar looking tracks all leading in one general direction. The trees get much sparser, the ground begins to thicken again as he moves away from the marshy group, and between one step and the next, Sokka finds himself looking out over a narrow valley with thick grasses and dozens of large, round plant bulbs that stick out of the grass. They're a dark green, tightly closed, and growing out of a base that, from his perspective, looks a lot like some kind of green stone, with darker square hunks sticking out of the main stones. They're all very stout and round and strangely shaped. The tracks fade as the grass grows thicker, though, which is unfortunate.
At his feet, Howl is growling slightly as he looks down into the valley. And where he looks--one of the....the things, because Sokka is realizing that they aren't stone at /all/, the things stands up and begins to wander towards a small trickling muddy stream that cuts down the middle of the valley.
And Sokka realizes he's staring at a field of some bizarre, unholy creation because those are sentient vegetables.

Sokka's eagerness dies down a bit as he tries to figure out... what exactly he's staring at. "Is... is that meat?" he asks Howl in somewhat of a whine. "Do those look meaty to you? My appetite has never been so confused." He peers closer. "I'm fairly certain those are... are onions. Walking onions. I wonder if Aang would eat them?"Nevertheless, food is food, so he begins to charge down to the muddy stream where a few of the sentient vegetables are on their own. "You know what to do, Howl!"Initiatives: 12 - Howl 10 - Sokka
