It's been three days since Terra first awoke in this strange place, and she wakes up on the fourth day with the bright morning sun shining into her eyes. The clearing she's found for herself is small and scattered with trees covered in fresh smelling needles. A very thin stream runs down its side, and the ground is covered in poking pine needles and scattered branches, but it's the one place she's found that has enough room for her to really stretch out on the ground without one of the strange animals of this world appearing and getting upset with her presence. The day she arrived, she was so weak she could barely stand, feeling like something had been ripped from her chest. It's taken these past two days before the aches have faded, and this is the first time she's woken up feeling like she has enough energy to actually try...doing /something/ besides figuring out the strange differences in this body of hers, and meeting the strange pokemon that has refused to leave her side. The black book rests on the ground beside her when she sits up, though she doesn't recall having placed it there--but this, too, is something she's starting to get used to... Around her, she can hear the soft sounds of the forest--chirps and growls and cries of the animals--no, pokemon--that live here. It's day four, and the weather is clear, and Terra is ready to explore. [Start us out with a Perception roll, please.]

Terra was used to finding shelter, it was upsetting her how few spots were safe from the Pokémon of wherever she was. It was bothering her as well that that word would keep appearing in her head about them.. Perhaps if she followed this stream she'd find signs of civilisation. She decided to set out, following the stream downstream.
Terra's Perception roll: l0YF45WL1-6
Chip, as she had named the small rock bug that seemed to follow her, was trailing along behind Terra's legs, it's beady little eyes looking beond them.

Terra is far more attuned to the earth than most--so it's not a wonder that, as she turns to leave and follow the stream, something makes her pause and glance back into the clearing. There's something wrong....there, between the rock and the river, in the softened mud. The grass is torn up, the sod thrown back on top of what is obviously the remnants of some sort of....digging. Dig marks that most certainly weren't there the night before, Terra is rather sure. As she pauses in her investigation, Chip seems to have paused as well, but it looks in the direction they were going instead of back at the clearing. It's squinting, seemingly confused, but as its gaze darts around wildly, there doesn't seem to be anything actually there. It shakes its head, but doesn't stop looking around.

Did I do that? She wonders. She's messed up the ground during particularly bad sleeps before. Not in this place though. Least not yet. No... this seems more like digging... Was Chip digging? "Hey Chip, were you digging last night?" She asks, walking towards the disturbed earth. Once over it her hands and eyes glow yellow and she tries to reach down through the dirt with her powers, if not to move anything then at least to find what's there. [Using Tremorsense] "Lets see what you were burying."

The dirt doesn't move at her attempts to simply lift it. Still, it's enough that, as she tries, she can almost see what's down there... There's some sort of cube, maybe around six inches under the torn up earth. She can't read any details, but it feels sealed. If she had to guess, it's probably somewhere around a foot in every dimension.

Terra strains to move the earth, brining up the strange object she can feel. Being unable to do so just made her angry. Angry at teh dirt for not moving and angry at herself for not being able to move it. And then she remembered the other reason she was angry, and hurt. She started waving her arms around angrily, trying to move the earth. After a few seconds a small blob of dirt gets moved from above the object, landing with a splat nearby. This causes her to hesitate briefly, and in a slightly more controlled manner she swings her arms the other way, focusing on another small chunk and causing it to fly off and hit a tree. Realising what she is capable of she focuses on chucking the dirt out of the way so she can gt to the cube. Finally, it is uncovered and she reaches into the hole to get it.

It takes Terra a few minutes to manage to pull the strange object out of the group, as the bits of mud she seems capable of pulling don't move nearly as much as she's used to. After five minutes or so of the process, she can make out the top of a shiny black box of some kind, with silver square engravings. As she finishes moving the dirt around it, making a significant mess of the surrounding areas and cloudying the stream with stirred up mud, she's finally able to pull it out.
The box is around a foot in every direction, like she thought, made of a shiny, sturdy black material that's cool to the touch but doesn't seem heavy enough to be metal. Whatever it is, the box seems perfectly sealed, with no obvious openings. Instead, the cool material is engraved with silver markings--dozens of interlocking square based runes that Terra has no understanding of, however long she looks at them. Perhaps they're simple decorative?
On one side of the box, though, there is a different shape: the outline of a human hand with small ovals where the finger tips would press.

"This doesn't make sense. None of this does." Terra started ranting to herself. "My powers are worse then ever, I'm suddenly in the middle of nowhere and then this? What is this thing? Sure I put my hand on this maybe it'll open but how did it get here? Who made it? ARE THERE PEOPLE HERE OR NOT?!?" she finishes with a yell. Concerned, Chip moves closer to try to calm her. The little rock rubbing against her leg brought her back to her senses again. She still wasn't sure why but she trusted this little Pokémon. "I'm sorry Chip, I just... don't know what I'm doing." Chip nudges her hand then and Terra looks at him. "You think? Well ok. If you say so." It may not have been what chip meant, but Terra took that as telling her to try her hand on the box. So she did.

The box is warm where the handprint is--and as she touches it, the etchings begin to glow, light spiraling outwards from where she touches. If she attempts to pull away, she finds that her hand seems to be stuck to the box, which seems...significantly heavier. It barely budgets if she pulls away. As the engravings finish lighting up, some of the etchings seem to shift on the box and there's a soft *click*. The box begins to...dissolve is perhaps the best word, the material melting away under Terra's hand to reveal a small pile of...stuff. There doesn't seem to be any trace of the original box at all, even under the various items that it has been replaced by. The mysterious pile of things contains four neatly tied parchment scrolls, two jars, one large and full of some sort of greenery and one small with some sort of orangeish paste, and a small box with hinges, not unlike what Terra might expect a ring to be displayed in. Two of the scrolls are tied with a red ribbon, one is tied with a yellow ribbon, and the fourth is significantly smaller and tied only with a piece of string. The larger scrolls seem to have a series of intricate runes on them that make her head hurt to look at, not dissimilar from the etchings that were on the box, in fact. The smaller scroll has symbols much more in line with those she's seen in the black book--or she thinks, anyway, because when she next blinks, she's staring at a simple paragraph written in an almost perfect standard english font of some kind. It doesn't say much, and probably raises more questions than it answers, but seems to speak of using the other scrolls to 'capture' the essence of pokemon. It reads...very much like an instruction guide. The larger jar, when opened, smells strongly of herbs and medicine, sort of like willow bark and aloe, though they don't look exactly like that Terra remembers collecting in her own world. The smaller jar smells...weirdly sour and gross to her, but Chip skitters closer as the scent drifts out of the open jar, seeming much more interested. The box swings open to reveal a shiny, smooth glowing green stone...it's very warm to the touch, in fact. Terra has found a hidden cache! But who buried this? How did they do it without her noticing in the night? And, perhaps most importantly....why? She obtains: - 2 Basic Scrolls
- 1 Great Scroll
- 1 Myserious Scroll of Instruction
- 1 Collection Jar
- 600 points of Medicine scrap
- 1 Baby Food
- 1 Revive Stone

Terra put the stuff away, sure she would need it. She fed the contents of the small jar to Chip, and ate some of the berries she had found over the previous days. [200 Food scrap consumed] She needed to get away from here though. Someone was toying with her. She had been planning to follow the stream in search of more food or civilisation but maybe that'd be too obvious now. She could head upstream and find where the water is flowing from maybe? Might even lead to higher ground where she can get a better view. Wait would that be the obvious solution? If I'm being toyed with what will they expect of me? "Agh!" Tired of second guessing herself, she jumps up spins herself around and ends up pointing upstream. "OK, Chip, We're heading this way, follow me!"

The area around the stream is muddy and Terra finds that her feet squelch loudly as she walks. Still, at least it's warm out--a bit chilly in the morning air, admittedly, but Terra can only imagine how annoying it would be if it were icy instead. Chip keeps peering around at the trees as you travel, squinting, until Terra swears she can feel something watching her. Based on the sun in the sky--and assuming it still rises in the East in this place, which admittedly isn't a sure thing--Terra is pretty sure she's heading to the west...maybe a bit to the south, but the stream does seem to curve a bit as she leaves the clearing...
[How far does Terra decide to walk? Please make a Perception check for me as well]

Terra knows the area she slept last night is no longer safe, so decides that she is going to keep going this way and keep an eye open for possible new sites to make camp later on. If she could just get rid of the feeling she was still being watched... She tries to keep watching for what could be observing her.

NeoTi94K3d6+1Neither Terra or Chip can make out anything of relevance that seems to be paying much attention to them. A few pink birds fly above her, visible through the tree line, and at one point she sees something jump between two distant trees, heading away from her, but it's gone before she can get a good look. It's perhaps ten minutes into her walk, just as they start thinking that they might be imagining it, when /it/ happens. One moment they're walking along a peaceful, bubbling stream, and the next there's a shrieking brown and orange ball flying directly at Terra's face! It swoops in and--pauses mere centimeters from her face, squealing. It hovers there for a second before falling backwards squealing with laughter.

Laughter at the poor girl who'd fallen on her butt with a yell. Seeing the thing laughing she got up rubbing her sore butt. "Hey, what's your problem!" She hears Chip laughing too and turnss to it. "Don't you laugh too! *sigh* I guess it was funny." She turns back to the Pokémon "Oh yeah well what's this on you?" She points to it's pumpkin body, then proceeds to move her finger up to flick the fur nose like tassel. "Eh... that'd usually be funny if you had a nose." Guile roll sfQza84w3d63d6

The pokemon seems entirely too proud of itself when it notices Chip's enjoyment of the prank as well. Terra's acceptable perks it up even more and it hums cheerfully, listening to Terra reason it out. When she points to its chest, the pokemon's eyes widen with concern and it's head jerks to see the thing on it! It's small wing like limbs flail in a panic and there's something /on it/ and oh goodness, the weird pink and yellow thing just flicked iT'S FacE! It shrieks, it's flail continuing as it flops backwards onto its back and it might honestly take Terra a few minutes to register when its shrieks fade into laughter and giggles. It stares up at her face from it's position not far from her feet as the giggling slowly subsides. It lets out a soft hooting noise.

Terra had been flailing around too in concern at its shrieks, trying to calm it and oh god what should she do. Wait... that's giggling. It's laughing! Oh good I thought I hurt it! She finally gets a chance ot calm down and flops onto the ground too, sitting in front of the little pumpkin. "Hi, I'm Terra. Can you speak?" It didn't respond, as she suspected. She already knew somewhere that Pokémon couldn't talk. But it understood her, and that was enough for now. "So how'd you like to come with me? You seem friendly and we can joke some more! Oh wait there were those..." She roots around for where she had left it, and pulls out one of the Basic Scrolls she had found before. "So this thing said that if I want more pokémon to come with me I should use this... What do you say?" She holds out the Scroll, hoping the Pokémon will know what to do with it.

The only response that Terra receives to her first question is a soft hooting "boo!" It seems proud of itself for the noise, and kicks its feet happily, wing-limbs flapping. It doesn't seem to register much of her other words, and stares up at her when she holds out the scroll. It rises from its back, flapping off the dust, and tilts its head at her. "Boo?" To use a scroll, break the seal on the ribbons and toss it within a meter of the pokemon you'd like to capture

The scroll starts to react--the ribbons twirling up and around the pumpkin-like bottom with the rest of the scroll following quickly after. The pokemon makes a hooting noise of confusion, flailing against the constricting bindings. Still, Terra has caught it off guard, and it doesn't react quickly enough to stop the wrapping. The edges blur and shrink and Terra finds herself staring at a picture of the small creature sleeping on a piece of parchment sitting on the ground. The parchment is warp when Terra picks it up, and she finds the black book nearby flipping through pages before landing on a random one--ink will start to fill in an image of the pokemon and information about it, and the parchment vanishes as Terra feels her skin start to burn... Terra is surprised when the paper seems to wrap around the pumpkin and even more so when it disappears. She was worrying if she had just done something wrong when a stinging sensation appeared on her side. Lifting her shirt she found a small red irregular diamond had appeared on her midriff, on her left side. Running her fingers over it she had a feeling that if she did that and willed it... And the Pumpkaboo reappeared before her. "I'm so sorry1 I hope you're not hurt I thought-!" It just bobbed happily though, completely unharmed. "Oh I guess you're alright after all, heh." She said, rubbing the back of her head. "Ok! I'm going to call you Autumn." Not the most original name, but it's cute. "How about the three of us keep heading on this way then?" With her new friend joining the procession, Terra continues to follow the river upstream, keeping her eyes open for a place to rest or forage.
